The French municipal association Bordeaux Métropole has ordered 36 electric articulated buses of the recently launched Citea generation from VDL Bus & Coach for a new express bus route
VDL will also be responsible for all charging equipment at the terminals and depot
The estimated total order value reaches 40.3 million euros. The buses are scheduled for delivery in 2023 and entry into service in 2024. Earlier this year, VDL received the first order for the new generation Citea electric from the Dutch transport company Hermes
These buses are based on a newly introduced electric platform that no longer integrates the batteries on the roof
The new design is meant to create more space for passengers
The new Citea is built in four length variants at VDL’s production facilities in the Netherlands and Belgium
all vehicles have an operating radius of 500 to 600 kilometres over their entire period of use
Even though it is not explicitly mentioned
the electric buses headed for the greater Bordeaux area are likely to be the longest variant with a length of 18.1 metres since the city’s announcement talks about electric articulated buses
The 36 buses ordered are to be introduced together with the first express bus line of the metropolitan region in 2024 and commute between the Bordeaux Saint-Jean station and Saint-Aubin de Médoc
Charging will take place via “pantograph-based rapid charging technology at the terminal stops” and with lower charging power at the depot
the French metropolitan area includes a total of 27 suburbs
The population within this metropolitan region is estimated to be around 800,000

Provisions on Perkins seemed to appear out of nowhere
Taking over the former Galatoire’s Bistro building in September 2018
this latest resident at the Acadian Village shopping center made some interesting renovations
The beautiful tilework that marked the walls of Galatoire’s were replaced with bold design choices that could not have been more different
cream and fuchsia walls with graffiti-style art and jarring
but I did like the colorful pink lounge located behind the main bar and the enclosed patio offering more room for seating
The menu takes a little while to acclimate to
as it’s organized in a confusing way with no clear titles for different sections
Names of individual items were either straightforward—like “Chicken Sandwich” or “Classic Steak”—or baffling with monikers like “Crock,” “Crispy” and “Spa Cuisine.” There also seemed to be a wide variety of culinary inspirations
the Deviled Eggs sounded like an appealing option
These jewels were stuffed with a creamy salmon mousse that offered subtle smoke
all we needed were bagels to complete this interpretation of a deli standard
We were zeroing in on the crawfish cornbread (“Skillet”) appetizer
but our server steered us toward the Flatbread of the Day with bacon
green apples and a delightful drizzle of honey
I found the dough rather thick for a flatbread and the Brie a bit overwhelming
but the sweet and salty apple-honey-bacon combo along with the bitter greens made this an impressive starter
On left: The “Low-n-Slow” short ribs entree is glazed in a root beer reduction
the Roasted Cauliflower could feed a whole table
The “Low-n-Slow” short ribs entree was glazed with a root beer reduction
slightly sweet and moist Flintstonian portion of short ribs
A substitute of roasted potatoes replaced the grits
but it came with cornbread croutons that were so crumbly and dry it took a full glass of water to wash them down
“Grilled Fish,” presented redfish with a Creole rub alongside sautéed veggies
The fish was moist but slightly overcooked
An adequate serving of simple vegetables completed my friend’s light meal
“Seared” Big Island tuna salad included mango
avocado and macadamia nuts with a chili dressing
a sweet and spicy mustard dressing and a briny ponzu
tart mangos were beautifully coupled with the delicate rare tuna
All the components were noticeably fresh and brought together by the three different but complementary dressings
“Pork” Tchoupitoulas featured a chop richly flavored by blackberry bacon jam
An accompaniment of braised purple cabbage was too sweet to foil the sugary chop yet addictive nonetheless
Roasted Cauliflower was listed as a side dish
An entire head of cauliflower was perfectly prepared and startlingly good with a generous slather of whipped goat cheese and a sprinkling of parsley on top
With the exception of the elephantine short ribs and the “side” dish of cauliflower
the portions at Provisions on Perkins were very reasonable
On left: Server Nicholas Ordes brings out the “Seared” Big Island tuna salad
On right: A full spread of dishes from Provisions
the Crumble Cobbler with mixed berries was at first bite mild and fruity but turned into a sugar bomb the more we dug in
the Classic Cheesecake was my preference of a less dense
and it was a refreshing surprise especially since the flavor of the day was Turtle
Though we found the pools of caramel and chocolate sauces unneeded
described appropriately as a “four-layer decadence.” Looks were deceiving as it appeared at first to be a chocolate onslaught
Since the menu organization and interior seemed all over the place
Yet we were gratified by the quality and flavors
If you can get past those surprises when you first sit down
The basics: The former Galatoire’s Bistro space has been drastically reimagined for Provisions on Perkins
with a menu and interior design that run the gamut of influences
What’s a must: The Deviled Eggs appetizer with a smoky salmon mousse
the mammoth portion of short ribs in the “Low-n-Slow” entree
the equally large side dish of Roasted Cauliflower
and the surprisingly airy Chocolate Mud Pie dessert
science and technology of food for more than 30 years

Advantous Consulting’s Jason DeCuir and Blaike-Lee Ordes examine the fallout from voters’ rejection of amending Louisiana’s state constitution to allow for sweeping tax changes
a key component of “Louisiana Forward” that would have restructured the state’s tax code
was a setback in the broader tax reform effort
Jeff Landry (R) and the legislature must grapple with several unresolved issues as they approach the new fiscal session
One of the most pressing questions is whether to pursue another attempt at constitutional reform
There is growing discussion about restructuring the failed amendment into several more narrowly tailored proposals
which may be easier for voters to understand and support
the loss of potential discretionary revenue forces lawmakers to reevaluate their priorities
The legislature implemented several components of the tax package through statutory changes
including income tax rate reductions and the elimination of the franchise tax
But the constitutional amendment carried more ambitious goals that couldn’t be achieved through statutory changes alone
It would have given parishes the ability to opt out of levying property taxes on business inventory
a move seen by many as a way to improve Louisiana’s business climate
It also sought to relocate many property tax provisions from the constitution into statute
thereby granting the legislature greater authority to shape future tax policy
Another critical component of the proposed amendment was the consolidation of two constitutionally dedicated funds: one for budget stabilization and the other for revenue stabilization
This reallocation of revenue would have expanded the general fund
allowing legislators more discretion in budgeting
One of the intended uses of this flexible revenue was to repeal the personal income tax over time
Another component of the proposed amendment was to eliminate three constitutionally dedicated funds to pay down the teachers’ retirement system of Louisiana debt
allowing for a permanent pay raise for teachers and school support staff
Without the funding flexibility envisioned under the constitutional amendment
ambitious goals such as teacher pay raises and further tax cuts may have to be delayed or significantly revised
the road ahead for the full implementation of Louisiana Forward’s tax reform plan still remains uncertain
The deadline to file constitutional amendments has passed
and it appears lawmakers are going to debate the best option for getting provisions of Constitutional Amendment No
One representative has filed what appears to be a slimmed-down version of Constitutional Amendment No
2 without some of the more controversial provisions
Other representatives have filed separate constitutional amendments that tackle specific parts of Constitutional Amendment No
including one to grant parishes the ability to opt out of levying property taxes on business inventory as discussed above
we will know which direction the legislature will ultimately take in passing the provisions of Constitutional Amendment No
it appears the constitutional amendments will be on the ballot Nov
we recommend either reaching out to lawmakers directly or through a local lobbyist
taxpayers can testify at committee hearings
Trade associations are also a great way for businesses to get involved

“Angels Unawares” is a life-size sculpture in bronze and clay
that depicts a group of migrants and refugees from different cultural and racial backgrounds and from diverse historic periods in time
suggesting the presence of something sacred among them
the sculptural work interprets the belief that the sacred is to be found in the stranger
The inspiration behind the work is taken from a biblical passage taken from the Letter to the Hebrews: “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares”
The presence of the sculpture in St Peter’s Square is meant to commemorate the 105th World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

The artist describes his creations as visual translations of the Bible
He says he tries to create epic artwork that connects with viewers through design and details that are not only touching on an emotional level
but also allow people to somehow feel “part” of the piece

Even with a dominant first round win for Thomson, coach Michael Youngblood wasn’t thrilled with how his team defended the run Friday night.
The Bulldogs came out on top of what was likely their final home game of the 2020 season with a 62-21 win over Tattnall Academy. And as well as the offense performed — the unit ran only 34 plays and scored on every possession — Youngblood said he expected his defense to play better, especially against the run.
“We got seven days to figure out to stop the run,” Youngblood said after the game.
Though his team only gave up 21 points, Youngblood has good reason for caution. Throughout the season, opponents have at times used the ability to get around the edge on Thomson (9-2).
Against Richmond Academy, Rashad Williams and Jontavis Curry each had over 100 rushing yards and three touchdowns combined on the ground. The issues were also apparent when Thomson traveled to Waynesboro to play Burke County.
On Friday night, it was able to grab a dominant win despite the struggles with the run defense. Youngblood said his team has to address that ahead of its second round Georgia High School playoff game in Fort Valley, Ga., against Peach County.
“We have to impose our will to stop the run; we have to stop the run,” Youngblood said. “If we don’t, then we’ll be coming home.”
Greenbrier’s turnaround season came to an end Friday. The Wolfpack (7-4) lost at Decatur 51-31 in the first round of the Class AAAAA playoffs.
Aquinas season ended on a four-game losing streak. After Aquinas (7-4) failed to win a region game, Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy sent the Fightin’ Irish home for good with a 45-17 win.
Burke County coach Eric Parker has led his team to overwhelming success against Thomson the past 12 seasons, compiling an 11-3 record against the Bulldogs in 14 meetings.
Some of those victories included upsets. Like last season, when most expected Thomson to be the better team. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-14 lead at halftime, but Burke County pitched a shutout in the second half en route to a 37-21 win to secure a region title.
Thomson’s most recent win in the series came in 2016 — at the Bear Den nonetheless.
The Bulldogs likely haven’t forgotten about last season’s meeting. The disappointment of losing to a rival. The disappointment of failing to score in the second half. The disappointment of seeing Burke County secure a region title.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Thomson this season, it’s that in many cases situations filled with adversity have become moments to successfully overcome. The Bulldogs have rallied past second-half deficits and held off late-game charges.
While a win at Burke County wouldn’t move them directly to the top of the region, it would keep the Bulldogs in the running for the title and give them a victory to be proud of.
Despite a loss to Richmond Academy, the Bulldogs have one of the fastest teams in the region. With Tay Martin on offense and Snoop Williams on both sides of the ball – with playmakers scattered around the field – Thomson has a good chance to get a win over Burke County.
If that happens, Thomson needs a Richmond Academy loss this week against Morgan County and to Burke County in the regular-season finale to grab the region title.
If Burke County beats Thomson, the region will come down to its meeting with Richmond Academy.

Leopard print never really goes away, but the animal print does ebb and flow in popularity depending on our place in the trend cycle. The “Mob Wife” trend brought it back to the forefront in a big way earlier this year, and it hasn't slowed down since — in fact, it's bigger than ever, and BLACKPINK's Jennie Kim just gave us another reason to love leopard
The Jennie Kim way of styling the statement pants is with a cropped, fitted black zip-up top and a crossbody bag with a cat face, plus black sunglasses and shoes. Jennie wore the perfect low-key but still stylish 'fit for a pizza run while in Japan
(And the pizza looks just as good as her leopard pants.)

Hordes of revelers toted colorful water guns yesterday as Thailand kicked off its exuberant three-day Songkran festival at full blast for the first time since 2019
hoping for a significant boost in tourism after the industry was devastated by coronavirus travel restrictions
The New Year celebration’s signature water fighting — a major draw for tourists — had been banned or discouraged since 2020 to curb the spread of the virus
and its full-scale return was widely promoted
there are 40 designated spots this year for public water splashing
including the touristy Khao San Road where vendors hawked food
clothes and water-fighting gear in the scorching heat
which is also celebrated in neighboring Myanmar
falls at the hottest time of the year when temperatures can creep above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit)
While many tourists and locals congregate in the capital
millions of workers head home to rural provinces to see family and celebrate by cleansing images of the Buddha for luck
and washing the hands and feet of elders to pay respect and ask for a blessing
Police geared up for the “Seven Dangerous Days” — taking into account the travel days on either end of Songkran — during which traffic-related casualties spike in a country where road traffic death rates ranked No
9 worldwide in the WHO’s 2018 road safety report
and motorcyclists account for a large number of the deaths
The Tourism Authority of Thailand projects this year’s Songkran festival will help generate more than 18 billion baht ($530 million) in revenue and bring in more than 300,000 international travelers for the holiday week — a 525% increase over the same period in 2022
but just 58% of 2019’s number from before the COVID-19 pandemic began
Although the country gradually eased up travel restrictions before fully reopening in October
local entrepreneurs remain concerned about the pace of recovery
Thailand received about 40 million international visitors in 2019
That number decreased sharply to 6.7 million in 2020 and fewer than 500,000 in 2021
according to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports
You just need to go through any of the towns or roads that go along the route to note the amount of pilgrims heading to Santiago from Ferrol or A Corua
since its 122 km distance with the Obradoiro guarantees obtaining the Compostela in just five stages
If the certificate does not matter to you and you only have three days off
The English way goes through a good section of the north coast of Galicia
the possibility of having a dip in the sea and the landscapes are a good incentive
Sometimes it is worth deviating from the Way of St
James to discover fascinating places like these six corners we suggest in this piece
The first stage of the English Way goes from Ferrol to Pontedeume
Both towns are linked to the sea so part of the route goes along its shore
A route between two estuaries that allows you to enjoy the Galician coast with its promenades and small coves
And it is also a way to travel Galicia through its ports
Redes is one of the best examples. A fishing village framed by colorful houses. It belongs to the municipality of Ares and, although the Way of St. James doesn't go through this town, it is worth taking the detour. This place must have something for Pedro Almodvar himself to turn it into Julieta's set
Redes is in itself a beautiful town, but its view from the sea enhances its essence as a fishing village. Ashore, on the opposite side of the sea loch, you can enjoy the postcard from a privileged enclave: Cala Hawaii (the Hawaiian cove)
Located in Pontedeume’ shore, this small beach could certainly be the scenery of a romantic summer movie. It's fine sand, turquoise waters and the green of its flora made it impossible to realise whether you are in Galicia or in a pacific island. So, if you deviate a bit from the yellow arrows, the second stage of the English way makes a stop in Hawaii
This place was designed by Juan Garca Naveira
a local philanthropist who made his fortune in Argentina at the end of the 19thcentury
His aim was to display historical moments and places from around the world
Although nowadays only a portion of it is preserved
entering its caves or admiring its statues and ponds
The journey starting in A Corua also has places where it is worth getting away from the main route. This way is only a stage from Burma
where it joins the route that comes from Ferrol
But that doesn't make it less important: this route has a great historical value as it is linked to the Templars
The medieval order had its domains in the current municipality of Cambre
There you can find the church of Santa Mara de Cambre
a Romanesque-style heritage building dating from the 12th century
deviating a bit to visit it can be a way to discover the core of this town
And we have arrived to the last stage in the English Way
If you have deviated several times from the yellow-arrows-route
maybe it's time to make a stop in a natural area
Tambre river offers the pilgrims the chance to freshen up on an island
with a beach surrounded by greenery and an abundance of nature
is the ideal place to take a break before arriving in Santiago
Rocío is an example of the kind of good people you come across on the Camino
Owner of a furniture factory located on the English Way
after observing the growing number of pilgrims
she came up with the idea of creating a small area with a free water fountain where they could rest and recharge their batteries
This rest area gradually acquired an excellent reputation on specialised pilgrims forums and now it not only offers water
but items such as plasters and sandwiches…
In the wake of the 2020 pandemic and the dramatic drop in furniture sales
Rocío decided on a change of direction and set up a small improvised space on the same site
a meeting point that serves the best breakfasts on the English Way
