the company will begin shipping the Padrón PB-99
a line extension to the sub-brand that is better known as Padrón Black
which will come in maduro and natural versions
measures 6 3/4 inches long with a 60 ring gauge
Hand-rolled in Nicaragua using Nicaraguan tobaccos
which is consistent with the Padrón Black series
The 99 in the cigar name honors what would have been the 99th birthday of José Orlando Padrón, who founded Padrón Cigars in Miami in 1964. (He died in 2017.)
Padrón Blacks are small-production brands, one of the lesser-known entries in the Padrón library and one that’s not even listed on the company’s website
which originally was made for a cigar-shop event and later became a TAA exclusive released in 2019

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has vacated the capital murder conviction of Joe David Padron
agreeing that false testimony led to his wrongful conviction for a 2002 double homicide
The court's ruling comes after Nueces County District Court Judge Inna Klein determined that prosecutors presented false testimony during Padron's original trial
Padron, who was initially sentenced to life in prison for the shooting deaths of two men in a Corpus Christi drug house, served 19 years before being released on bail in 2023
Executive Director of the Innocence Project of Texas and Padron's attorney
emphasized the significance of the court's decision
"Both Judge Klein and the Court of Criminal Appeals recognized that two of the prosecution’s witnesses gave false testimony causing Mr
Although nothing can give back the time he spent wrongfully imprisoned
we are hopeful that this ruling will give Joe David and his family some sense of justice and the peace they deserve," Ware said
The case's exoneration was bolstered by additional evidence
including testimony that one of the actual perpetrators of the murders confessed
specifically named the three other perpetrators he committed the murders with
and that Padron had nothing to do with the crime
Ware previously told 6 Investigates that the DA's office did not have any physical evidence linking Padron to these crimes
it used testimony from a witness who changed his story after prosecutors offered him a plea deal on a separate case
There are laws in place that limit the scope of testimony from witnesses such as these
Those same laws require the prosecution to inform the jury of any deals made to secure testimony
These laws were not in place during Padron's trial in 2004
"Unfortunately none of those laws were in place back in 2004 when this took place but there are a number of laws now in place that
that kind of evidence wouldn't have been allowed today," Ware said
said he believed Padron was guilty and said it has always been his practice as a prosecutor to disclose any plea agreement made during witness testimony
"The convicting court has not recommended that we grant relief under this so-called 'actual innocence' theory
and the Court today does not do that," according to the opinion
An "actual innocence" claim would require new evidence that
would cause a jury to have a reasonable doubt about the defendant's guilt
the relief is being granted solely on the grounds of potentially false testimony from jailhouse snitches
who maintained his innocence throughout his imprisonment
expressed relief and concern for the victims' families
I'm glad that justice has prevailed," he said
"The families of the victims deserve to know the truth
which has now exonerated or freed forty people since 2006
Padron also credited his original post-conviction attorney

criticizing those who discredit her following her death
She emphasized her loyalty and the massive support on social media for Teresa
By Izabela Pecherska
Social media has become a platform for massive support for Teresa Padrón
the former manager of the late Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar
It all started with a strong post by Yumirsis Lahera
who broke the silence to publicly defend Teresa and denounce the criticisms
and accusations she has faced in recent days
And I will not stay silent while they attack the one who has been his strongest support: Teresa," Lahera wrote on her Instagram account
Yumirsis Lahera described Teresa as much more than her manager
her voice when he could no longer speak,” she stated
She also lamented the behavior of those who are now trying to discredit her: “While she seeks justice
from self-interest.” Lahera made it clear that Teresa was with José until the end and has never tried to take credit for more than what she did
“Teresa has never claimed that she paid for everything alone
That is what those who seek to harm her have said.”
Yumirsis Lahera's message sparked an immediate and overwhelming reaction in the comments
and fans of El Taiger came together to support both Teresa and the artist's family
Phrases like "The only one who has been there through thick and thin," "Justice for José," and "Teresa represents loyalty
the family stands behind her" were echoed in various tones
ranging from heartfelt applause to open criticism of others involved in the controversy
Even users who identified as fans of El Taiger from the beginning expressed their support: “We
are not blind; we know who was there and who was not,” commented one follower
Others took the opportunity to denounce what they consider hypocrisy from those who now seek the spotlight amid grief and pain
Yumirsis Lahera also directed a sharp criticism at these individuals: “Many called themselves friends of José… but they were there for what he could give them
Teresa Padrón herself also reacted to the post
making it clear that she feels part of the family
With you until the end of the world," she wrote on Instagram
accompanying her words with the hashtag #LEALTAD
and hundreds of messages of support from followers who have been following her journey since the artist's passing
making it clear that the family's support is not only emotional but also public and unequivocal
Teresa Padrón was the manager and close friend of El Taiger
the Cuban reggaeton artist whose real name was José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar
Teresa maintained a very strong emotional and professional bond with him
being regarded as a key figure in his life and in the preservation of his legacy after his passing
Despite her closeness and commitment to El Taiger
Teresa Padrón has faced criticism and rumors that question her relationship with the reggaeton artist
she has firmly defended her integrity and loyalty
stating that she has provided all relevant information to the authorities and that she has only sought the well-being of the artist's family and justice for his tragic death
Teresa Padrón has led several initiatives to honor the memory of El Taiger
acquired a chapel at the Colón Cemetery for his remains and those of his mother
Teresa has also used her platform on social media to remember the artist and demand clarification regarding the circumstances of his death
The community and family of El Taiger have shown strong support for Teresa Padrón
recognizing her loyalty and commitment to the artist
emphasizing her crucial role in the reggaeton star's life and criticizing those who attempt to discredit her

an 18-year-old FIU honors student was charged with allegedly writing an electronic threat of terrorism
“JurrasicParkLover2006” was flagged by Instagram after posting the words “Bad things are going to happen” and “Bombing a house today” on January 2nd.
The FBI’s National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) received the online tip
and made the arrest without incident on January 4th
Instagram provided the defendant’s personal information to the FBI
“It was youthful inexperience. But we’re confident that Mr. Hernandez… learned his lesson about this joke” said David Donet
After leaving the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday, Hernandez-Padron made comments to the press
“I think the best thing you can do is learn from it and just not repeat it,” he told reporters
“It was a joke and it was a very bad joke and I’m extremely sorry for making it.”
Hernandez-Padron was released Monday on a $5,000 bond. He was charged with an electronic act of terrorism, which is enforced as a second-degree felony by Chapter 836.10 of Florida Statutes. The charge can carry a max of 15 years in prison.
The charge must be proved by meeting four criteria:
the defendant did so in a manner that could be viewed by another person
the defendant intended the threat to be a true threat.
The defense’s argument that the perceived threat was a “joke” and therefore not intended as a true threat
may be what proves the defendant’s innocence.
Hernandez-Padron’s next hearing is scheduled for February 3rd.

TX — The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has overturned Joe David Padron's murder conviction after he spent two decades in prison for a crime he says he didn't commit
Padron was sentenced to life in prison for a double murder that occurred in 2002
Sign here and you won't take the death penalty," Padron said
When offered a reduced sentence of 25 years in exchange for a confession
When asked if he would rather face the death penalty
"I mean I don't wanna face the death penalty
"I didn't want to admit to something I didn't do," Padron said
This began Padron's grueling two-decade fight to clear his name
culminating in the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals setting aside his conviction on Wednesday based on false testimony from jailhouse informants
"And so you're sitting there and your life is on the line
And you know these people are lying on you

it's gratitude and relief and thank goodness it's like finally
Padron expressed gratitude for his legal team's belief in him
And my mom said because they see something that everybody else did not," Padron said

As is probably the case with some of you reading this review
I went through a number of different emotions and thoughts the first time I heard about the then-unnamed collaboration between Arturo Fuente and Padrón: first came extreme interest
then wondering about how expensive they would be and how hard they would be to buy
followed by a somewhat cynical thought about how long it would take to ship due to the inevitable delays
I had absolutely no doubt about was how popular the release would be or how much hype it would garner
the collaboration brought together two of the most recognizable brands in the cigar industry into a singular box of cigars meant to honor the men—the fathers—who built their families’ companies
there was a Cigar Rights of America (CRA) meeting at the Padrón offices in Miami
and Jorge Padrón sat down and shared Scotch whisky
the two agreed to work on a project that would honor each other’s fathers
Charlie explained a bit about each company’s patriarchs here:
The company still pays tribute to that little hammer
but the factory burned down a decade before Fuente Jr
Fuente continued to work in the cigar business but didn’t restart his own factory until 1946
That operation wasn’t as successful as the first factory
was working both at his father’s cigar factory and
he bought the company—which had more than $1,000 in debt—for $1
The two men led their companies through embargoes—Fuente Jr
navigated the Cuban embargo while Padrón dealt with Nicaragua’s embargo—natural disasters
Sometimes their experiences were remarkably similar
both companies lost a factory in Nicaragua due to violence
Fuente y Padrón Legends was shown off during a special event that saw hundreds of people crammed together to get a look at the creations in an unparalleled unveiling
that’s the cigar I’d like to hand him and say
that cigar wasn’t bad,’ and that would have meant an incredible
great cigar and that’s all I ever wanted from someone like him.”
In November 2023, Arturo Fuente shipped the first 750 boxes to its warehouse. However, some of the boxes in one of the two shipping containers were damaged en route to Tampa. This caused a delay
as both companies decided to inspect each box individually for issues
Four months later, boxes of the Fuente y Padrón Legends began arriving in stores
meaning that the pricing was finally confirmed: an eye-popping $7,115 per box of 40 cigars
the two companies confirmed that they are donating all of their profits from the release to the families’ charities: the Padrón Family Foundation and the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation
Each box of Fuente y Padrón Legends contains two trays: one with 20 cigars made by Fuente to honor Jose O
Padrón and another with 20 cigars made by Padrón to honor Carlos Fuente Sr.
The top of the box features depictions of both José Padrón and Carlos Fuente Sr.—along with their signatures—on either side of a giant tree
their signatures are on the front of the box
symbols and photographs honoring the two families throughout their histories are featured on each side of the inside lid
Perseverancia and Legado—which are the Spanish words for family
perseverance and legacy—run along the edges
There are also two different quotes embossed on pieces of wood that are designed as part of the inside of the box surrounding the cigars in trays:
each Fuente y Padrón Legends box comes packaged with a leather portfolio holding a certificate of authenticity and a coin
Both of the cigars inside are 7 x 50 Churchills; the cigar made by Fuente is round and covered in a cedar wrap
while the cigar made by Padrón is box-pressed
blend details have not been disclosed about either cigar
though the project is probably less limited than you might think
Let’s get one thing out of the way right off the bat: this is very obviously not just another OpusX blend that has been repackaged and thrown into a random box to sell at an inflated price
with layers of flavors that meld together and change during each third
and burn lines that needed only a couple of minor corrections
the cigars are expensive—and it is up to each person to decide if the price paid is worth the experience—but I would be remiss not to mention again that these two companies are donating their profits to charities
there are very few cigars I would consider paying over $100 for
but if you are going to spend that much on a cigar
the Fuente-made Fuente y Padrón Legends is a great choice to consider for your shortlist
Covered in gorgeous rosado wrappers that feature just the slightest hint of the tooth
the Fuente y Padrón Legends Carlos Fuente Jr
There are no protruding veins that I can tell
and the second cigar has a small soft spot just under the secondary band
each cigar features a soft box-press and all three cigars are nicely firm when squeezed
Aromas from the wrappers are creamy and nutty in general
while one has a bit more of an herbal note than the other two
a barnyard note—that is both strong and sweet—leads to cinnamon
the cold draws bring flavors of peanut butter
All three cigars start with the same noticeable spice and bold
but only five puffs in before peanut butter and charred meat take over as the main flavors of the profile
while the retrohale features a distinct maple syrup sweetness combined with a touch of black pepper
There is also an interesting—albeit light—citrus note on the finish for my first and third cigar
but the body only reaches a point just under medium and the strength hits a solid medium by the end of the first third
Other than a single touch-up on my first cigar
there are no issues when it comes to construction
smoke production and draws are all excellent for each of the three cigars
The second third of the cigars features a shift in the main flavors
as a combination of creamy cedar and dry hay take over the top spots in the profiles
The amount of black pepper on the retrohale remains about the same compared to the first third
but the maple syrup sweetness has morphed into a rich raisin flavor
Citrus peel continues to be evident on the finish for both the first and third cigars
but the second cigar picks up a distinct floral note on its finish that lasts through the second third
while the strength lands firmly at medium-plus
a cigar needs a minor burn correction—my third one this time—but the other two cigars have no problems in that regard
and the draws and smoke production continue on their excellent paths
Dry hay remains a top flavor in the final third
the cedar is replaced by powdery cocoa nibs
while a cashew flavor joins the hay in my final cigar
sourdough bread and nutmeg flit in and out
while both the black pepper and rich raisin sweetness remain about the same levels compared to the second third
while the body and strength do not budge from solid medium and medium-plus
Burn lines finally even up for all three cigars while the draws and smoke production give me no issues
but two of the cigars get a bit hot right before I put the nubs down
I have worn many hats in my life up to this point: I started out as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram
then transitioned to photographing weddings—both internationally and in the U.S.—for more than a decade
After realizing that there was a need for a cigar website containing better photographs and more in-depth information about each release
SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet
extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars
and it was one of the predecessors to halfwheel
there was one topic that was seemingly inescapable in cigar-related conversations: Legends
the project between Arturo Fuente and Padrón that would see two of the most well-known figures in the cigar industry make cigars in honor of each other’s departed fathers
The project would see Jorge Padrón create a cigar in honor of Carlos Fuente Sr.
while Carlito Fuente would create a cigar in honor of Jose O
both cigars would measure 7 inches long and have a 50-ring gauge
with the plan to release the cigars at some point in 2021
That initial target date would come and go without the cigars being released
and while the project wasn’t quite ready for release
it would be unveiled at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show
gathering a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd in the aisleways around the companies’ booths
Another year passed without the cigars being released
While there was a plan to have the cigars released in late 2023
that was scrapped after a number of the first boxes to arrive at Fuente’s warehouse in Tampa were found to have sustained damage during the shipping process
Finally, in mid-March of 2024, retailers began announcing that they had started receiving the cigars
which arrived in massive humidors filled with images and artwork of each man
while the blend of each cigar remained undisclosed
the Fuente y Padrón Legends project does not come cheap
as each humidor of 40 cigars—20 cigars of each blend—has an MSRP of $7,115
though the per-cigar cost could vary based on how retailers choose to handle selling the humidor
so is what the companies are doing with the profits from the project
Both companies are donating all of their profits from Fuente y Padrón Legends to their family’s charities
The Padrón Family Foundation and the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation
Jose O. Padrón and his wife, Florinda, founded their family’s charity in 2012
which provides grants for numerous chariites including St
Jude Children’s Hospital and a charity based in Estelí
the city where Padrón’s factory is located
the foundation gave away more than half of a million dollars to 25 different causes
there are a number of other elements inside each box
quotes and photographs honoring the two families on each side of the inside lid
perseverancia and legado—Spanish for family
perseverance and legacy—can be found along the edges as well as on the edges of the primary bands
Framing the cigars are a pair of quotes from the two men being honored:
There are also some tangible additions to the Fuente y Padrón Legends box
namely a leather portfolio holding a certificate of authenticity and a coin
I’ve smoked plenty of Padrón cigars and plenty of Arturo Fuente cigars
so I was curious to see what a Padrón-made cigar in honor of Carlos Fuente Sr
and I can say that I didn’t anticipate it would be one of the spiciest cigars I’ve smoked in recent memory
It’s a profile that starts not only with a lot of spicy flavor
but with the surprise that this kind of profile could—or would—come from Padrón
While the spiciness can be a bit much for my liking
especially in the first third of the cigar
something that sets the pace for the rest of the cigar
which is very well balanced and has some impressive stretches of complexity
There is also a rather amazing thing that happens with retrohales
as they show a much more detailed and nuanced version of the profile that also helps alert the taste buds to some of the more subtle aspects
they come with the red chili pepper spiciness from start to finish
a tradeoff of sensations that not everyone might be willing to make
and intriguing blend that I’m still not quite sure exactly how to sum up
other than to say it is definitely a memorable cigar
*The box contains 40 cigars; 20 each of the two blends
There’s something about the combination of the colors of the wrapper leaf and the bands that gives the cellophane the appearance of being older than it is
almost as if the light is reflecting some yellowing through the sleeve
only to disappear once the cigar is removed
The cigar’s wrapper seems like a lighter shade than what most Padrón creations use
and a first glance gives me thoughts of an Ecuadorian habano leaf
and between that and a slight bit of color variation
the seam lines are visible even though they are all perfectly flat
Padrón is no stranger to box-pressing cigars
and this cigar shows that it was made by people who know what they are doing
with more density than the sensation of a firm pillow that is often found in pressed cigars
the foot has a soft aroma that reminds me of almond butter or an unscented lotion before a peppery tingle emerges after a couple of moments and gets to work on my nostrils
The cold draw is smooth and easy with a bit of pretzel dough and creaminess that is smooth and mellow
The Padrón Legends starts off with a somewhat thin-bodied smoke and lots of pepper
as my first retrohale really wakes up my nostrils with the kind of sensation that certain spices and red chili peppers deliver
It’s a surprising start flavor-wise as it’s not a profile I associate with Padrón
with the spiciness making me think of testing out a new brand of hot sauce via a few drops on my finger
It’s a spice profile that immediately makes me think that the blend is centered around corojo tobacco
and I immediately begin to wonder where the blend is headed after this vibrant start
it can be challenging to look for flavors beyond the spice and pepper
the third cigar is a touch more restrained
creating a really pleasant flavor that settles on my taste buds with a lush
Out of that emerges a woody flavor that I can’t quite place
closer to a kind of furniture wood than lumber or a piece of firewood
the spiciness begins to move more towards a traditional black pepper
but it hasn’t completely given up what has been the hallmark of the cigar thus far
Flavor in the first third is right around full
as this is one of the more vibrant and lively cigars I’ve smoked recently
The body of the smoke is medium and can feel a bit thin at times
The spiciness is still part of the profile as the second third gets underway
though it has diminished a bit and isn’t quite as lively
It also still feels like it’s moving more toward black pepper
at least until I retrohale and get the full sensation
There’s a touch of creaminess that makes appearances
certainly lighter than what I think of as being typical for a Padrón blend
there is some familiarity beginning to emerge
and I get echoes of some of Padrón’s natural wrapper offerings; then
a few puffs around the midpoint give me thoughts of a light drizzle of chocolate syrup
The majority of the spiciness is now found via retrohales
though I find myself intrigued by how the two experiences differ and how retrohales reveal more detail while also seemingly making my taste buds more sensitive to the flavor’s nuances
Flavor is medium-plus without retrohales and medium-full with them
body is medium and strength is medium-minus
though I notice the combustion slows at times and I need to give the cigar a quick touch-up
While the start of the final third doesn’t have as much spiciness as earlier parts of the cigar
a retrohale shows that it is still there and is seemingly a central part of the profile
there’s a really well-balanced mix of light earth
and black pepper that makes up most of this section
As the burn line passes through where the bands would be
the flavor shifts to a really pleasant sensation of sweet
The heat of the final inch brings out more of the spiciness as the cigar starts coming to a close
but the profile is still enjoyable and very much on track with what it has offered thus far
and strength is medium-minus in two cigars and medium in the third
I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories
it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it

Three students from the classical guitar program at the Frost School of Music shone in major national festivals this year
Their achievements are a testimony to their love for their instrument and to the devotion of their professor
“Being among the finalists of this competition means a lot to me,” said Millet Padron (no relation to Rafael Padron.) She said her professor has been crucial to her success
“Rafael is a very special person in my life,” said Millet
“His way of seeing music is so special and different.”
Both festivals are among the top gatherings in the United States for classical guitar musicians
and lovers of a demanding but richly expressive instrument with ancient roots
“They have passion for it,” Rafael Padron said of his 16 undergraduate and graduate students
There are so many possibilities with this instrument.”
Hernández echoed her professor’s appreciation
“I love classical guitar because it has an intimacy and raw sound that is rare in other instruments,” she said
“I stuck with classical music because I loved the challenge
The Southern Guitar Festival offers workshops
and competitions for elementary/middle and high school students
and ensemble and non-classical guitar divisions
attracts competitors and artists from around the world; performers this year (including Rafael Padron) came from Brazil
and the caliber of performers is very high,” said Padron
he has performed with multiple orchestras and headlined guitar festivals across the Americas
He received his master’s in classical guitar from the Frost School in 2003
The number of students has doubled under his leadership
“Professor Padron encourages me to develop my own sound
and push my playing out of my comfort zone,” said Hernández
“He has taught me how to play for the love of music again
I learned to tap into the real reason I started
to express myself and to give the audience something new or fulfilling.”
Padron says classical guitar’s Spanish and flamenco legacy often attracts Hispanic students. That is true for Millet Padron, who, as a child in Cuba, became enchanted with the instrument hearing her aunts play. “I remember looking at them while they played the guitar and sang,” she said. “Those moments made me fall in love.”
She defends the artist's family and criticizes the lack of authorization for the tribute
decided to clarify her stance on the controversy that arose from the use of a virtual recreation of the reggaeton artist during the concert of Charly and Johayron on April 12 at the Watsco Center in Miami
Teresa made it clear that she did not approve of the tribute and that her only commitment is to the family and the children of the deceased artist
Teresa explained that days before the event
she promoted the concert at the request of the promoter
She claims that she did this without knowing that artificial intelligence was planned to project the singer on stage
“I made the video with Anita… without any malice and without thinking about it
Charly reposted my promo and mentioned that surprises were coming
but I didn’t know what they were going to do
No one had told me anything about a tribute
After that incident, she was contacted by the lawyers of El Taiger's estate, who sought to know if she had given permission for the use of the image. Teresa was emphatic that she had no connection to that tribute nor had she endorsed it in any way.
Although she acknowledged that the moment was emotional
Teresa Padrón also pointed out that it was disrespectful to do so without approval
especially considering that they had already been warned not to use artificial intelligence
but the tribute could have been done differently
When they were told not to use artificial intelligence
they should have respected that,” she said
it needed to be something else and approved by the heritage
Teresa also took the opportunity to defend the mothers of the artist's children and the lawyers handling the case
many of whom —as she revealed— work pro bono
I am just saying that I support the mothers and their children.” “I have to support what the heritage says because they are the ones defending José's children
he lamented that people speak publicly without having real information: “Everyone talks freely without knowing the truths
No one knows why José's music isn't released
El Taiger's children have not received any economic benefits from the use of his image or his musical legacy
"When I said that it belonged to the children
it was because they haven't received a single dollar," he emphasized
Teresa insisted that she has no personal issues with the artists and hopes that her position will not be misunderstood
She even left open the possibility that Charly and Johayron were unaware that the tribute was not approved
although she believes they could clarify it publicly now
But they could come out and say whether they knew or not."
Teresa Padrón did not approve the tribute because she was neither consulted nor informed about the use of artificial intelligence to represent El Taiger on stage
something that required the consent of the estate and the family of the deceased artist
The controversy arose because the duo Charly and Johayron used artificial intelligence technology to project a virtual image of El Taiger without the authorization of his family or the artist's estate
This has been regarded as a violation of El Taiger's image rights and intellectual property
and has led the mothers of his children to announce legal actions
Many fans defend the tribute as a way to keep El Taiger's legacy alive
while others support the reggaeton artist's family in their right to control the use of his image
viewing the duo's action as a sign of disrespect
Home - Pope - The story of the Pope's "Ice Cream Man"
The Padrón family, an Argentine couple living in Rome, runs one of the best-known ice cream shops in Casa Santa Marta. Sebastián and Silvia are the owners of the Padrón ice cream shop.
Their history with the Pope has always gone hand in hand with ice cream.
Padrón Ice Cream ParlorThe first time, it was on our own to bring ice cream to the Pope, to see if we could get close enough to him to try the ice cream. And yes, he tried it and well, then this chain of purchases began. People started coming, calling, ordering us to prepare ice cream for him, to prepare some dessert for him…He says he is my friend. Every person I know who has spoken to him, he tells them, "Go eat ice cream from my friend, Sebastián!”
Sebastián confesses that Pope Francis usually orders lemon ice cream, dulce de leche, and mango. But their story goes beyond ice cream. In 2020, his wife, Silvia, received a call from the Pope's secretary. Pope Francis wanted to meet them. That private audience changed their lives, especially that of their son, Luca, who was 3 years old at the time.
SEBASTIÁN PADRÓNPadrón Ice Cream ParlorAfter the blessing he gave to our children, having a son with some problems, we were lucky that the boy improved a lot. In fact, he started to walk after the Pope gave him his blessing.
48 hours after this encounter, little Luca began to walk alone, something he had not been able to do before.
After this event, Sebastián did not hesitate to inform the Pope's secretary so that Pope Francis would know of this great improvement of the little boy, whom the Padrón family holds dearly.

“the renovation of a new multi-purpose recreational facility at the Recreation Center Park”
emphasizing the lack of family consent and the need to protect the artist's legacy
“What happened last night (though beautiful and exciting) was not approved by the moms or the heritage,” she stated. “The right to do something like that belongs to them and not to others.”
Through strong messages, Teresa questioned the legitimacy of recreating El Taiger on stage using artificial intelligence and made it clear that the event organizers had been notified beforehand that they did not have permission to use his image
"Everyone on the team and those involved in the event were notified days in advance that they did not have permission to do that, yet they still chose to proceed. So, who is in the wrong?"
"I care about looking after José, his children, and his family above everything else."
Far from seeking the spotlight, Teresa made it clear that her sole motivation is the well-being of the artist's family, especially his children.
“I don't care about pleasing the artists and their teams. What matters to me is doing things right and always looking out for José, his children, and his family above all else.”
"People only remember José at concerts, and nothing else. Stop trying to excuse the convenience. And that’s it!"
He also emphasized that any use of El Taiger's image must be guided by respect and legality, and in any case, it should provide a direct benefit to his children, who were left unprotected after his death.
"José left behind four creatures that need to be cared for. The right to do something like that belongs to them. No one is taking care of the children or their family. Therefore, it is not fair for them to use his image, much less to create an AI with José."
Teresa also came to the defense of those whom she believes have truly fought for the artist: “The people who have fought the hardest for José legally have been the Barreto lawyers. Don’t talk about people you don’t know and who you don’t understand everything they have done for José, his children, and his family. Respect!"
With the slogan "Always José," which she repeated in all her publications, Teresa reaffirmed her commitment to the legacy of the reggaeton artist and his family.
The tribute to El Taiger at the concert of Charly and Johayron is controversial because the image of the deceased artist was used through artificial intelligence without the consent of his family. Teresa Padrón, former representative of El Taiger, expressed her disapproval of the event, stating that the image rights of the reggaeton artist were not respected nor was his family consulted.
The family of El Taiger is considering legal action for the unauthorized use of his image, as they believe that this constitutes a violation of the artist's intellectual rights. The lawyer representing one of the mothers of El Taiger's daughters has stated that necessary measures will be taken to protect the legacy and rights of the reggaeton artist.
Teresa Padrón, former representative of El Taiger, has been vocal in her rejection of the tribute held without the consent of the artist's family. She has emphasized the importance of respecting and legalizing any use of El Taiger's image, highlighting that decisions must directly benefit his children, who were left unprotected after his death.
Teresa Padrón has stated that any use of El Taiger's image must take into account the well-being of his children. She has insisted that the rights and benefits derived from the artist's legacy belong to his children, who need financial and emotional support following the loss of their father.

Padrón is not a company known for new cigars
but 2024 has been about as exciting as any year for new Padróns
albeit with some premium price tags to boot
cigars created to honor the 89th birthday of the company’s founder
though sold exclusively at Smoke Inn in South Florida
this time as releases for the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) Exclusive Series Program
various Padrón Black vitolas have been used for Cigar Rights of America (CRA) Freedom Samplers
Roughly 10 companies have donated cigars to the CRA
which are then sold to help raise money for the organization
which is best known as one of the main funders of a successful lawsuit against FDA
While Padrón has not released production numbers for the PB-97
it was described as a one-and-done limited edition
it’s probably the most widespread release of a Padrón Black to date
I’ve remarked that Padrón didn’t seem to want to talk about the Padrón Black
so much so that we didn’t know the blend
While there’s still no reference to the line on the company’s website
it’s a Nicaraguan puro that Jorge Padrón told Patrick Lagreid is “between the Serie 1926 and the Family Reserve
saying it’s probably closer to the Family Reserve in fullness.”
Padrón uses a lot of different numbers in its releases and it can be a bit tough to keep track of all of them
we will likely see a Padrón 100 of sorts in two years
I would have guessed that the cigars we bought were Naturals
but I wouldn’t be 100 percent confident as it’s a darker than average wrapper with lots of oil
The aromas from the wrappers are medium-full led by cocoa and cinnamon
A copy paper scent is a secondary scent for the first cigar; the second cigar has a sweeter cocoa and less of the copy paper
whereas the third cigar has more ammonia—but all three are pretty similar
The feet are also quite similar: full with cocoa over some Aperol-like citrus
though the amounts of the latter two vary between the cigars
The first two are open and led by chocolate—milk chocolate in the first
a slightly less sweet one in the second—with dry bread
ammonia and red pepper serving as secondary notes
The third cigar’s draw is much closer to normal and the chocolate flavor is more like frosting
joined by some red pepper and green grapes
The Padrón Black PB-97 Natural begins with a dry and aggressive profile that has earthiness
I notice that the draw differences are the same as before: the first two cigars are somewhat loose
there’s a lot more pepper in the first inch
peaking shortly thereafter and then tapering off
the strongest flavors are pepper-accented earthiness and roasted nuts
While the main flavor is thick enough that it could be described as “syrupy” in texture
creaminess and—on the third cigar—a unique sweetness that reminds me of a banana liqueur are present
Retrohales are drier with lots of breadcrumbs overtop some thick creaminess
They finish drier and sharper than any other part of the profile
though there’s not much development in terms of the flavors
While the profiles weren’t all that different in the first third
they are much more similar in the second third
All three cigars see nuttiness increase to take the top spot of the profile over a pepper-accented earthiness
dry and aggressive profile that drowns out most of the secondary flavors
generic whiskey and some black and white pepper
the finish has some sweetness—the closest I can get to identifying it is a not fully ripe strawberry—woodiness and dry earth
which isn’t the strongest flavor but does get the award for being present the most amount of time between the three cigars
Retrohales have an unsweet peanut butter over dry earthiness
pepper and—during the first cigar—a rubber sensation
They finish a bit more metallic than the rest of the profile
though it’s pretty similar: earthiness over black pepper
I begin to feel the nicotine during the latter stages of the second third
though the third cigar doesn’t deliver the same kick
While the first and third cigars are doing great construction-wise
I find the draw to be problematically open
something that is likely due to a combination of the bunching and the cap unraveling
which loosens the draw enough to the point that it’s noted on my scoresheet
Earthiness is the strongest flavor during each of the final thirds
The first cigar is pretty standard fare; the second cigar has a flavor that is drier
but it seems like that’s related to an accenting flavor that tastes a bit like dry flour
while the third cigar has a more charred earth aspect
black licorice and some inconsistent creaminess
The finish sees the return of the nuttiness
burnt roux and some fruitiness that reminds me of a light peach sherbet
the retrohale tastes like all the flavors of the Padrón Black BP97 Natural are delivered through my nostrils
I get a dry cranberry flavor and some more lively earthy flavors
While it certainly provides a different experience
I don’t find myself enjoying the cigar anymore or less than if I wasn’t retrohale
but the finish really changes the dynamic by increasing the sharpness a lot
The first cigar is strong enough that I’m feeling the effects of it
whereas the second cigar isn’t as strong and the third cigar is on the lighter end of “full.” As with the second third
my only issue about construction is that the second cigar’s draw is looser than I’d like
though neither looser than it was before nor loose enough to be causing issues that need to be fixed with a lighter
Whether because of the box press or the blend
I don’t find the Padrón Black-banded releases to be very Padrón-like
They are still good cigars that share some qualities with other Padróns
but I imagine if you took the band off and gave it to people who smoke Padróns weekly
many of them wouldn’t be interested in buying more of them
This is certainly the case with this vitola
which doesn’t really remind me of Padrón at all
Given Padrón’s general lack of comments about the Padrón Black Blend
but I have a difficult time believing that this cigar was intended to be the same as the Padrón No
My favorite of the trio I smoked was the third cigar
which had the most normal draw of the three
it seemed to only amplify the power of the cigar
but it seemed like the strength came at the expense of the rounded out fullness of the flavor profile and body
Both the first and second cigars felt like there were a few holes in the profile
whereas the third cigar presented a much more complete picture
it's still a cigar that is not far away from exiting the "very good" zone and heading to "great."
Padrón will officially mark its 60th anniversary
the company has begun shipping its new 60th Anniversary cigar
The Padrón 60th Anniversary is a Nicaraguan puro that is offered in two wrapper options, one a natural and the other a maduro. When the cigar was announced in March
Jorge Padrón said that the company approached its blend the same way it does with all of its cigars
“My father said that a cigar doesn’t have to be a sledgehammer over your head,” Padrón told halfwheel at the time
adding that the 60th Anniversary was blended to taste balanced and have complexity
It is offered in a perfecto vitola that measures 6 inches long and has a ring gauge that spans from 48 at its most slender to 56 at its thickest
and unlike the box press that most of the company’s higher-end releases get
with 10 cigars per box and pricing set at $75 per cigar and $750 per box
While the Padrón 60th Anniversary will be an ongoing release
as just one pair is producing the cigars at Tabacos Cubanica S.A.
Padrón declined to say how many cigars were released in this first shipment
He did say that they will continue to be released little by little
with another release slated to occur in the next three to four weeks
Padrón has also teamed up with S.T. Dupont for a set of 60th Anniversary accessories
which are due out in mid-October and include lighters
The collection is headlined by the S.T. Dupont Le Grand Dupont Padrón 60th Haute Creation, a special version of the Le Grand Dupont
This model offers both the double soft flame that can be found in S.T
Dupont’s classic Ligne 2 lighters as well as a single-flame torch lighter
which is activated by the user pushing up on the ignition roller
This version of the Le Grand will make the iconic “ping” sound the company is known for
The Ligne 2 Padrón 60th Haute Creation (L) and Ligne 2 Padrón 60th (R)
There will also be an accompanying Ligne 2 version that features the same design work
Both of these lighters will be limited to 88 numbered pieces
Dupont’s flagship Haute Creation series
There are also brown and gold versions of the Le Grand Dupont and Ligne 2 lighters
These two lighters will be produced in greater quantities
Dupont did not disclose the production numbers when they were shown off at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show
There’s a fifth lighter, a special version of the Biggy, a flat flame model that S.T. Dupont introduced last year. It was previously known as the Big D. As pictured earlier in this post, the Cigar Stand Cutter, a double guillotine cutter that folds to function as a cigar stand, is also getting a design celebrating Padrón’s 60th Anniversary.
S.T. Dupont will handle sales of the accessories, which means they will be sold by Coles of London in the U.S. and through S.T. Dupont’s distributors in international markets.

Those were the first words that came to mind when I saw the box of Fuente y Padrón Legends for the first time
a long list of adjectives followed as I photographed it in the studio: gigantic
Fuente y Padrón Legends has been one of the most hyped cigar releases in the past 10 years—some would say one of the most hyped releases ever—so it is no great surprise that the packaging for the cigars matches that hype
The idea of this collaboration between Arturo Fuente and Padrón—two of the most recognizable brands in the cigar industry—began in 2020 during a Cigar Rights of America (CRA) meeting at the Padrón offices in Miami
and Jorge Padrón discussed the idea of a singular project that would be created to honor Carlos Fuente Sr
Padrón—the two men who built their respective family companies and also each man’s father
which is made at Arturo Fuente’s box factory and is—there is no better way to describe it—absolutely massive
Inside are two trays: one with 20 cigars made by Fuente to honor Jose O
Padrón and another with 20 cigars made by Padrón to honor Carlos Fuente Sr
but the cigar made by Fuente is round and covered in a cedar wrap
while the cigar made by Padrón is box-pressed and sans cedar wrap
the first thing I noticed about the box were the depictions of both José Padrón and Carlos Fuente Sr.—along with their signatures—that are engraved in gold on either side of a giant tree
The two men’s signatures are also on the front of the box
and each box comes packaged with a leather portfolio holding a certificate of authenticity and a coin
But the real show begins after the lid of the box is opened
revealing a veritable feast for the eyes: first
photographs and symbols honoring the two families throughout their histories are featured on each side of the inside lid
with the sources shown on the left and the Padróns on the right
perseverance and legacy—run along the inside edges of the box
we can’t forget to mention the amazing bands that adorn both cigars: the main band is designed to show off an important icon for each company: the number “13” inside of a clock logo from Fuente and the little hammer logo from Padron
Turning the band around reveals signatures from the elder Fuente and Padrón
while the back of the secondary band has the signatures of Carlito Fuente and Jorge Padrón

It has an MSRP of $4,795 and is limited to 88 numbered pieces

Padrón Cigars has begun making a small but noticeable change to the cigar bands that adorn the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series
Serie 1926 and Dámaso Series product lines
Some have already made their way to market as the company gradually rolls out the new design
Many of Padrón’s top-tier cigars have dual bands
with the bottom band showing an assortment of numbers
The company is phasing out that type of band

so now the bands are integrated,” says Jorge Padrón
The Family Reserve Series will also move to using a single

a friend of the late Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger
faces criticism as she defends her loyalty and commitment to him
Padrón supports the artist's family and seeks justice
By CiberCuba Editorial Team
friend and former booking manager of the late Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger (José Manuel Carbajal)
has asked on social media to stop attacking her
she only dedicated herself to caring for him with affection
"My loyalty may seem strange or false to you who judges me
but my love for José and my commitment is my truth," Padrón said on his Instagram profile this Tuesday
Four months have passed since the tragic murder of El Taiger in Miami
Teresa has become a public figure due to her connection with the singer
She is beloved by many of the musician's fans
but also heavily criticized by others who question the nature of their relationship
In an interview granted to the YouTube channel Lo de nosotros no tiene nombre on July 17
El Taiger began to share an anecdote but left it unfinished
to the point that he paused and sent her a kiss
He was talking about a very important woman in his life: Teresa
She has always lived here in the United States
is American and has a different perspective on life
She laughs at the things we Cubans do," he said
The musician's expression changed as he spoke about Teresa
but she knows I'm a softy at heart," El Taiger declared with a mix of affection and respect
"Her critiques have always been constructive for me
Although her message is no longer constructive..
She's studying Civil Construction Engineering with me," the singer joked
Teresa Padrón has become a key media figure
supporting the artist's family and organizing his funeral services
Her unwavering commitment has been the subject of both admiration and unfair criticism
which recently prompted her to speak out on her social media
"I am exhausted from having to defend myself against people who have no heart
People who speak with lies and only do it to gain views or whatever
because the only thing I have done is good for José and his family," she stated firmly
Teresa has confessed on several occasions how much she misses the Cuban musician
remembering him not only for his artistic talent but also for the generous and genuine person he was in his private life
In one of her most emotional messages, posted on the fourth month of the anniversary of El Taiger's passing
she wrote: "Today marks four months since you left
Every day I wake up longing to hear you and to see you smile."
Teresa has not been able to go through a proper grieving process, and perhaps that is one of the reasons why she feels overwhelmed by the debates on social media and the attacks against her
she continues to support the family and fights for justice in this painful case

After Kody Brown condemned his children on season 33 of Sister Wives
Kody Brown is losing the support of most of his adult children
who shared how the currently-airing season 33 of Sister Wives has changed her perspective
“I think that if he took more accountability in any of his actions, his kids—maybe not all of them, but at least some of them—would reach out,” Mykelti said during a fan Q&A shared on the Instagram account @withoutacrystalball Oct. 11
or blaming how they feel about his relationship with his other wife or blaming the parents or blaming gossip or whatever
Can we talk about it?’ I feel like that would go such a long way.”
And a major source of frustration has been over how Kody interacts with his 18 kids—many of whom he is now currently estranged
noted that she has previously confronted her father about his comments regarding their family
For example, she cited how Kody calling his and Janelle’s daughter Madison Brush a “gossip” on the show led to a great deal of animosity
“They’re purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit,” Kody said during the Oct
“I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers
Mykelti expressed her anger of Kody's comments
“I can understand why everybody’s frustrated,” she noted
“and why Maddie snapped because he threw Maddie under the bus hard.”
“No matter what happens between myself and my kids
apologize and ask and ask and ask and just continue to try to do whatever I could to make that relationship stronger,” Mykelti said
after Kody noted that he had no plans to “beg” his children to forgive him amidst their fallout over the past few years
“I feel like that’s what you do as a parent
Sometimes you just have to take the knife in the kidney
She added that the way in which Kody speaks about his children as a whole on the TLC series is harmful
it hurts every single one of his kids,” she said
“He’s had past episodes blanket statements
and it hurts me even though I know it wasn’t about me.”
Though she’s previously chosen to serve as what Kody's referred to as the family's "peacemaker," the 28-year-old is now pointing the finger at her dad for the family's drama
“If you’re the common denominator that people have problems with,” she said
And Mykelti sees his continual remarks as only prolonging the estrangement
“When you put things out there on the show like this
“When he puts things on the show like this
and it will be slammed forever unless he makes a statement on the show and condemns what he said.”

Meri Says Kody Gave Her Hope for Their Marriage
"Like he led me to believe those things
is "his lack of communication and how he really felt and what he really wanted or what he really didn't want and the story that he's been telling for all these years."
And while Kody acknowledged that there may have been "mixed messages," it was only because as he started to work on things
'Why would I do this?'" he explained
"I would not court and date her now."
Either way, Meri's friends were thrilled when she finally pulled the plug in early 2023
And it’s about damn time,'" she confessed
she now feels that he had been trying to get her to walk away for years by insisting he didn’t love her
"Because if he can push me out and I leave
he's not the bad guy because he didn't walk away."
"I’d almost rather scrap it or sell it and then just start again somewhere else."
"I can’t talk about that," she responded
that was what was really holding me here."
Even when Kody broached the idea of reconciling in the Nov
"I don't know how I would ever reconcile with him and have him not have a relationship with my kids," she said
I'm going to always choose my kids."
Kody Feels He's Been "Excommunicated" from His Own Family
That was the explanation Kody gave for not working harder to mend the rifts he was experiencing with several of his adult children
"I don’t fit in the family anymore," he griped in the Sept
Noting he was still fully married to Robyn and parenting their five kids together—Dayton Brown
"and then I have some relationship with some of the other kids and it's infrequent
Robyn and Kody's Marriage Was on Shaky Ground
Despite being truly monogamous for the first time in their 14-year union, "We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage," Robyn confessed in the season 19 premiere
Kody’s feeling a lot of rejection and so I think he’s kind of looking at me going
'Are you going to reject me too?'"
I’m having to consistently make sure that he is not sabotaging our relationship." The hardest part
she summed up: "There’s no resource to help with the idea that I’m still married to a man who’s going through divorces."
"I can’t look myself in the mirror and say
For Robyn, it was a struggle to watch her former sister wives embrace their new era. "They're all moving on," she noted in the Oct. 27 episode
"I feel like the idiot that got left behind."
Add Janelle’s eldest daughter Madison to the list of kids Kody doesn’t currently have a relationship with
"I know that Maddie has not had any conversations with her dad," Janelle explained during the premiere
and she doesn't have any relationship with Robin
She's pretty much written them both off."
is Kody having a half-hearted relationship with Maddie’s kids Axel
Evangalynn and Josephine: "She doesn't really want him to have any contact unless he can commit to it."
Kody "did sort of cut off communication” with Maddie and her husband Caleb Brush (whose sister was married to Kody’s brother) "when the family started to really dissolve.”
Maddie "has been Mama Bear to the extreme," added Janelle
"She has felt like until he can be consistent and show up and not be dramatic that she feels like it's probably better if they don't know about him."
And while Robyn noted she’s been encouraging Kody to reach out and mend things
"I think the kids should be doing the same thing
Kody doesn’t seem ready to repair the rift
griping that every time he spoke to his daughter
"It was a fish for gossip and I got tired of it."
While spending time together on their 32nd anniversary
"He was alluding to the fact that he never loved me and he felt like he had to marry me," Meri shared in a chat with her friend Brandi during the Sept
And if he didn't, the mom to Leon Brown said in a confessional
"When a single young man meets a single young woman
why would he choose to marry her and just affirm and force love for her when he didn't love her?" she wondered
To pick me out of a crowd and just be like
'I pick you to try to force myself to love for the next 32 years'?"
he shared in his own confessional: "Oh
I'm not going to comment on it."
he would share that they never enjoyed a honeymoon period
"This marriage was on the rocks the entire marriage," he insisted on the Oct
Because I had such a better relationship with Janelle
He admitted he "should have gotten out of the relationship 25 years ago," but he stayed out of fear
"Leadership will never allow you to marry again if you're discarding wives."
Janelle Threatened Legal Action Against Kody
"Because I think that's the only way I'm ever going to get any kind of decision out of him."
And Janelle acknowledged that without a legal marriage to Kody
"I really have no legal rights to make any kind of claim on Kody’s property." As she put it
"It's not like I'm just calling a lawyer and saying I need to divorce this person
it's really complicated because there's no legal marriage."
Kody Supposedly Divulged Private Information to His Other Wives
Kody's explanation for not talking with Janelle about their Arizona property is that he no longer trusted her
"We will pay off the property when the time comes," he insisted in a confessional during the Sept
"and I'm not giving you any details about what I'm doing or whatever because I'm tired of disclosing information that goes through the gossip mill of our broken family."
"He leaks like a sieve," she shared
"He told me stuff about his other relationships and his other wives that I was like
'I don't think you're supposed to be telling me that.'"
Back when the family's love was still multiplying rather than dividing
they used to pool their money into one pot
"We would use all the resources to help one person
then we would all rally to support the other person," Janelle explained on the Sept
"That's how it always worked until the last 10 years or so
And all of a sudden it’s been about my estate and everyone needs their own estate."
So when Robyn was in need of a home in Arizona, they all pitched in to buy her $1.65 million five-bedroom spread—which was listed for sale this past August
The intention was that it would be an asset for the family
But when Janelle suggested that they all put their names on the mortage
protect Robyn’s estate,'" Janelle recalled
So now that she's extricating herself from the family
she'd like her portion of the Coyote Pass proceeds "and I'd like to recoup some of the money I put into Robyn’s house."
"We were working together for so long," noted Robyn
And with Janelle saying she's owed money from them
Janelle Questioned How Kody Handled the Family Money
Griping about the family’s inability to pay off Coyote Pass, Janelle said Kody claimed to have "all these other debts." And, yet, she’s watched him snap up other assets like trailers and home décor. "I see all the art on their walls," she said of Robyn and Kody's home
too." (For his part Kody said much of his cash went to buying cars—"Basically had a fleet"—and insurance for the kids.)
And while Janelle acknowledged she wasn’t sure how Kody and Robyn handled their finances
"I used to always be surprised at how nice her backyard was
"He doesn't prioritize what I need or what I want." And that issue eventually wore her down
and my kids were getting very angry about it
was that she was very careful with her budget after her first marriage fell apart
“I used to be not so great with money," she shared during the Sept
and then I learned during my divorce really how to budget myself very
very well." As for her fellow sister wives
"You just must have had a different priority of where your money was going to go than I did
Janelle and Christine See Their Kids as the Core Group of the Family
I don’t really foresee that’s going to change much."
Kody Thinks His Wives Leaving Hurt His Relationship With the Kids
Calling their set-up with four homes on one cul-de-sac during their stretch in Las Vegas "the best time of my life," Kody said
"Everything was going along smoothly and Maddie and Caleb were around and it was great having them around
But "things started to fall apart" in Arizona as they clashed over coronavirus-related precautions
his bonds with the kids followed: "It just made all those relationships go sour."
But Christine insisted their were issues well before she announced she was leaving in late 2021
"All the kids that were frustrated were frustrated way before I left," she said on the Sept
"My leaving didn't change his kids' relationship with him
Kody can still fix his relationships with his children."
Though it'll definitely take some work
"I'm so angry about how I've been treated that I haven't gotten past that," Kody explained
"Here's the thing is I'm not willing to take blame for things that my wife or ex-wife is sitting there telling them that I did
I hope the time comes when the contempt will subside
We'll be able to find forgiveness and love again."
Kody Said His Marriage to Meri Was Miserable
Kody revealed he and Meri didn’t know each other all that well when they wed both spiritually and legally at the age of 21 and 19, respectively. (They eventually filed for divorce in 2014 so Kody could legally adopt Robyn’s three eldest children from her first marriage.)
she was very different and I think just there's some baggage that Meri had that I didn't know about,” Kody explained
I felt like I could live with it." Claiming that everything was a fight
"I can’t live in a world where she is constantly angry at me."
"If he wants to stay faithful and in the faith
So I was not able to get out of that relationship
I didn't necessarily want out of the relationship
I wanted to know if we could save and fix it."
he acknowledged of Meri thinking they would work everything out
I'm trying to be curious with her and I'm bored."
Janelle and Meri all chose to have me leave the home."
Kody Didn't Agree With Meri Wanting a Spiritual Divorce
Though Janelle and Christine felt they didn’t need to divorce Kody because their marriage was never legal
Meri asked their church for an official separation
"When each of us four ladies married Kody
it was through our church," she explained in the Sept
"Obviously we can't all be legally married
So I feel like it's best to terminate that because we're not moving forward with any marriage and I don't want to be
sealed to him for eternity if he doesn't want me
let’s just separate this completely."
not wanting to "acknowledge the authority" of the church leaders
"The damage was done so badly that we're not going to reconcile no matter what," Kody explained of his stance
I don't want to be accountable to this church and all their BS
So I'm going to let Meri go and do her thing because if I'm angry at her it
And I needed her just to go away because it just took forever for her to finally realize it's been done and over for years."
Many of Kody's Kids Aren't Speaking to Each Other
A text message discussion over a 2021 holiday gift exchange turned particularly ugly for the 18 Brown offspring
it all went south," detailed Christine
"Kody and Robyn and their kids were on one side and they wanted nothing to do with Janelle
And there was a split that happened after this text thread."
Robyn’s take was that her three older kids felt the exchange was "emotionally unsafe" and said they needed to take a step back from the relationship
we don’t want anything to do with you,'" she insisted
Gabriel is hoping that they could find their way back to each other
"The thing I want most is to just have a relationship with Robyn's children again," he confessed in the Oct
Aurora was my favorite person to hang out with
I'm not hopeful for a relationship with Dad And Robyn."
Robyn's Kids Never Felt Welcomed Into the Family
multiple circumstances by multiple different people
that I was not accepted," Aurora insisted of coming into the family when her mom wed Kody in 2010
that they didn't consider or see me that way."
And her sister Breanna said she felt the parents "could have done a better job with
connecting us as a family and it never really happened."
But Christine isn’t sure how they could have opened their arms any wider
"Robyn’s kids and Robyn were invited to everything," she insisted
come into the house anytime you want.'"
but they always considered Robyn's kids their siblings just the same."
Janelle Would Do Plural Marriage Again; Kody Wouldn't
Gushing about the independence she was afforded
you have this amazing family unit that you’re part of
You have a husband and you have a great relationship with him and and you have everything
plural marriage really was a really great arrangement."
wouldn't say "I do" to polygamy again
"Polygamy kills emotional intimacy," he opined on the Dec
and I really want an emotionally vulnerable
and you're not going to get that in polygamy."
Kody Started Distancing Himself From Janelle Years Ago
Kody had a tougher time dividing his love after the family decamped from Las Vegas to Arizona in 2018
Kody found it a lot easier to be away," she noted on the Sept
"A couple of times I had to remind him that he needed to come to my house." Revealing he'd try to beg off because he was tired
you can rest at my house just as much as you can rest at Robyn’s house.'"
Janelle and Christine's Kids Didn't Love Going to Robyn's
Detailing the "separateness" her brood felt with Robyn
"My children were scolded if they would open up Robyn's fridge." For Christine's kids
the issue was that "they saw that Robyn and their dad were a couple and he wasn't in our home."
And Robyn said her crew definitely felt the divide
but the rest of the family really struggled to accept my kids and I," she shared on the Sept
"All we wanted to do was be a part of this family."
But Gabriel would argue that he and his siblings went to great lengths to bring them into the fold
"I think that Robyn definitely has a victim complex," he said in the Oct
And I don’t necessarily blame her for that
devise different strategies to keep themselves afloat."
"If she actually believes that we were mistreating her or her children in any way when she was constantly getting favorited by Dad and we were always working on our relationship with her kids
then there's no chance of me having a relationship with Robyn ever again."
Janelle Questioned Robyn and Kody's Parenting
Having their dad shuffle between four different homes did have an affect on Kody's 18 kids
sharing the time that his and Robyn's youngest
clung to his leg as he was trying to leave
I got other kids that need to see me,'" Kody described
"And she’s just dragging along on my legs screaming
Unfortunately, that's just a reality of plural marriage, insisted Janelle
"From the very beginning," she explained
her kids "knew that their dad was not going to always be there
I always felt like that Kody and Robyn mismanaged the situation with her children
He couldn't be away for more than three or four days because Ari just gets so sad or whatever
Through all history of the family the other kids did it and they’re fine
Mykelti Had a Very Close Relationship With Robyn
One of the few Brown kids who was still close to both Robyn and Kody and Christine and Janelle
mom of three Mykelti took on the role of peacekeeper during Kody's divorces
Tight with Robyn from the moment she entered the Brown family, Mykelti even invited her to be at the November 2022 birth of her twins Archer and Ace
and she made me feel special and she made me feel seen," Mykelti explained during the Sept
"Robyn was there for me when I needed somebody
She was there for me when I needed somebody to hear me
And her mom Christine couldn't have been more thrilled
"When Robyn came in the family and it was obvious her and Mykelti had a great relationship
it was everything that I hoped for," Christine shared no the Oct
"When I was so excited about having a plural family
I was hoping that my kids would have a great relationship with other moms
One of Kody's Kids Claimed He "Brainwashed" Them
Kody feels it's not only his wives who subtracted him from their lives. "They're purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit," he explained during the Oct. 6 epsiodes, giving his take on his estrangement from some of his older kids
"I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers."
he think his former spouses are a bit to blame
"This disparity in relationship with my children is specifically in my mind because of s--t talk," he said
"There's this whirlwind of disappointment from the family breaking up or whatever
But while he can shoulder a bit of that blame, he takes umbrance with the name-calling. Revealing, specifically, that he was struggling to connect with Hunter
Kody shared that one of his kids responded to a text "saying
I would never speak to you again anyway.'"
"I've had one of my kids just say
You manipulated me and you brainwashed me.'"
And it's that venom he's not willing to deal with
"I’m not going to reach out forever," he said
noting he thinks his adults should be doing more to fix things
but somebody else is going to have to be on the other end of that and make some effort too."
Robyn Was Struggling to Respect Kody as a Parent
watching Kody's estrangement from his adult children hit far too close to home
my parents got a divorce," she explained during the Oct
"He lived with one wife in another city
I remember confronting my biological father saying
Why?' All he really did was just make a bunch of lame excuses as to why he wasn't there for me when I was young and it just sucked."
So, no, she wasn't about to allow Kody's hurt feelings stop him from making an effort. "I’m having a hard time not, like, feeling like losing respect for you a little bit," she shared during their explosive on-camera argument
And though Kody acknowledged he could be doing more to mend his relationship with his kids
Saying he feels some of his kids are "colluding against me," he revealed
"I'm so angry about what has happened that if I talk to my kids
I'm worried that they'll trigger me with an accusation
Kody Went Years Without Seeing His Grandchildren
Though much of the family was in attendance when Janelle and Kody's oldest Logan wed now-wife Michelle Petty in October 2022
"You saw Madison take her kids and scuttle them away from me," Kody complained to Robyn in the Oct
noting that his daughter hadn't told him she was expecting her third baby
"She never told me she was pregnant."
Maddie doesn't tell her dad much of anything with the two rarely speaking
"Really, Maddie doesn't have any contact with him," Janelle explained of why her daughter steered clear of Kody at the wedding
"She is very protective of her children
Kody has not been there since Evie was born and Evie's three-and-a-half
And she didn't want him to just drop in and like
I'm your grandpa,' and them be like
“It’s unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in their grandchildren’s lives all the time,” he said
referencing Maddie's life in North Carolina
“especially if you move your children to an entirely different coast
I have work and a life in Flagstaff."
Kody Wanted His Kids to Apologize to Robyn
While it's clear that Kody and his adult children have very different viewpoints of their ongoing estrangement
one sticking point is his demanding some sort of mea culpa
"After the COVID scare was over and we all went back to our normal lives
we still couldn't reconcile as a family because Kody felt like the boys needed to give an apology to him and to Robyn
especially to Robyn," Janelle shared of her sons in the Oct
"And after it sort of morphed into this
they just need to come and talk to me."
was that he felt his kids hadn't been loyal to him "and the most precious person in this family who's given her heart and soul has been disrespected or some bulls--t like that," she summed up
describing one conversation with his father
"He kept like phrasing it like I owed him an apology," he recounted to Janelle
actually ready to have a relationship and fix things
then we're not going to talk anymore.' He came back a couple of days later and texted me
thinking about what you've been saying
Of the six children Kody shares with Janelle
but every couple months he'll call and they'll go out," Janelle described in the Oct
"The rest of the kids don't really have much of any kind of connection with him."
As for Savanah—who graduated from high school in 2023—she feels her four older brothers have taken on that father figure role
the teen already confessing to Janelle that she'd tap her siblings to walk her down the aisle one day
"I've talked to Savanah about it and she's like
I just have come to realize that this is who he is," detailed Janelle
"'He's going to be kind of that dad who shows up and we have a lot of fun and then he's gone
"I'm just so frustrated with Kody," she lamented
I have several women I've worked with over the years who divorced
and then the father just goes MIA with the kids."
Gabe Said He'd Be Fine Never Seeing Kody Again
"Gabriel took it very hard because Kody was someone who would take Gabriel with him on business trips," described Janelle
saying that Kody was "a totally engaged father" up until the past few years
And while Gabriel is somewhat flummoxed over what he did to anger his father
"I told Dad that if he doesn't change and he can't take accountability
And I'm perfectly OK with that."
"He's at peace that his dad is not in his life
that's what I hope for all of my kids
And I think they're all getting here."
"I'm really sorry that Gabriel feels that way," he shared in a confessional
"I have reached out to him multiple times only to get rejected
But it wasn't from a lack of trying on my part."
Meri may have been the last wife to leave Kody
but she officially divided their love in late 2022
by requesting—and receiving—what their church calls a release
"I know he doesn't like that word," she noted on the Oct
"because he doesn't feel like he abandoned me
she feels he basically ignored her until she made the decision to leave "so that he could say
And Kody didn't totally deny that he had a bit of a strategy
"I had moved on a long time ago," he explained in a confessional
I was afraid of what she would do if I ripped off that Band-Aid
It's because Meri was never loyal to me
That's what I've been worried about
"It's really just sad that Kody's talking about our marriage the way that he's talking about it," she said
"It feels like the narrative has changed with him
but the things that he's saying about me to other people and the people are believing are not true."
Christine Realized Kody Wasn't a Good Match Years Ago
she realized they weren't a good match on paper
thanks to an exercise proposed by their Las Vegas-based marriage and family therapist
Tasked with making a list of qualities she wanted in a husband
Christine wrote down that she was seeking a good communicator
someone who would be present in her and her children's lives and someone who was attracted to her
"And Kody wasn't any of the things on the list," she revealed on the Oct
"I told him the list and he's like
'I'm not any of those things for you.’ I said
The missive was part of the reason she knew so quickly that now-husband David Woolley was her person.
"Family is his most important thing to him," she gushed of the widowed dad of eight. "He's owned his own drywall business. He has a reputation of being honest and real with people and he's really a great communicator."

The final climb – the Puerto Cruxeiras – just 10km from the finish line
could provide a rider with the launchpad to stage victory
2024Distance: 166.5kmStart location: PadrónFinish location: PadrónStart time: 13:30 CESTFinish time (approx): 17:21 CEST
almost all roads lead to Santiago de Compostela
as the final destination of the world-renowned Way of St James
Pilgrims come from all over the world to embark on this journey to where Spain’s patron
its appeal has expanded beyond Christians to travellers of many different motives
It lies just 25 kilometres south of the city and
is the last stop on the Portuguese Way pilgrimage route
it’s also famous for the peppers grown here
which are characterised by being small and green and are popular all across Spain
the ones grown during this time of year tend to be spicier than normal
with the hot weather resulting in more of the Capsaicin chemical that gives peppers their kick
While Padrón might mark the nearing of the end for those Christian pilgrims, the riders taking part in this year’s Vuelta a España still have a long way to go upon arriving at the town and will only just cross the halfway point of the race today
It won’t feel as though they’re making much progress today
they will undertake a circuitous route that will take on three loops to the north before arriving back into Padrón for the stage finish
Then they will complete two shorter laps featuring a double ascent of Puerto Aguasantas (5.7km at 6.1%) before heading eastward to climb the day’s final climb
which they will crest just 8km before descending back to the finish at Padrón
with all being designated either category two or three status and none standing higher than 500 metres – but together
they will be enough to prevent any chance of a sprint victory and make this another day for the puncheurs
the proximity of Puerto Cruxeiras to the finish makes it especially important — both its uphill and subsequent 6km downhill
after which the riders have only a couple of kilometres of flat until arriving at the finish line
Expect some of the same riders who featured in the break on stage 10 to again try and escape up the road in similar parcours that should suit them and see the breakaway succeed
Stage 10 provided an action-packed start to the stage
with many riders wanting to get into the break
with another opportunity on the cards for the escapees of the bunch
Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) was one of those riders attacking to go clear up the road
alongside Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike)
All the riders were keeping the pace extremely high to keep themselves in contention for a stage win
we expect many of the riders who were in action yesterday to try their luck again
Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) could be another rider making some early attacks
Both are in good form and could take the stage win over this lumpy terrain
Mathias Vacek (Lidl-Trek) could try to get into the break
Jesús Herrada could be a card to play for Cofidis
who are yet to take anything from this race
Looking to add a stage win to their team's Vuelta is also the Ineos Grenadiers
who missed out on the opening ITT victory with Josh Tarling – who is now out of the race
Jhonatan Narváez will be the British team's best shout or even Óscar Rodríguez
Movistar is another team looking to light up their race – Enric Mas
sitting fourth on the general classification
but the Spanish crowds will want a stage win from their home team
Einer Rubio showed some encouraging signs on stage 10 and could try to get into the breakaway again
who may be stronger over this type of parcours
Israel-Premier Tech have a few riders who could be contenders for this stage
Woods was seen being dropped on stage 10 after the fast pace being set by those at the front
Astana Qazaqstan's Harold Tejada could be another contender for the stage victory
as could Alessandro De Marchi (Jayco-Alula)
We think that today is another day for Wout van Aert to get in the breakaway and secure his fourth stage win of the race

A man was found dead this Thursday by the riverbank at the intersection of Calzada Dolores and Calzada de Güines, in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, Havana.
journalist Mario Vallejo reported on his Facebook profile that police officers and officials from the Ministry of the Interior are on-site investigating what could possibly be a suspected murder in the Cuban capital.
He emphasized that, so far, no official details have been provided regarding the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding his death.
In the shared video, several patrol cars can be seen at the scene.
In the comments section, some suggested that the victim might be an elderly person, while most agreed on highlighting the increasing insecurity affecting the population.
Others pointed out that 2025 has begun with several concerning incidents, including the massive accident in Santa Cruz del Sur, which resulted in one death and 63 injuries.
In December last year, several social media posts reported the discovery of human remains floating in the waters off the Malecón in Havana.
A user identifying herself as Isabell Isabell posted a video on Facebook showing a large gathering of people around the site of the discovery, along with the presence of fire trucks, ambulances, and police vehicles responding to the scene.
A man was found dead by the riverbank in San Miguel del Padrón, Havana, and a possible homicide is under investigation. The presence of police and Ministry of the Interior officials indicates the seriousness of the incident.
The increasing insecurity in Havana is raising concern among citizens. Incidents of violence and the discovery of lifeless bodies, like the recent case in San Miguel del Padrón, reflect an alarming situation.
The economic situation in Cuba, characterized by scarcity and rising crime rates, appears to be exacerbating violence in the capital. The lack of resources and high inflation contribute to an increase in crime and insecurity.
So far, the Cuban authorities have not provided details on the specific measures to address insecurity in San Miguel del Padrón. The lack of official information has created uncertainty among the residents.

The next Padrón cigar you purchase might have a slightly different look to it
as the company has given some of its bands an update and they are now appearing at cigar shops
The company has previously used two bands for its higher-end lines
One of those bands is an individually numbered guarantee label
the other sits atop that band and has the name and designs of the particular cigar
the company has changed that to become just one band
while still offering that number that can be used to verify the cigar’s authenticity
and the Dámaso series are the first lines to shift to a single-band design
The Family Reserve will also move to the single
though the company has not yet set a timeline for when that will happen
which use a secondary band below the primary and guarantee band
This applies to releases such as the 1926 Serie No
The change caught some retailers and consumers off-guard
as Jorge Padrón told halfwheel that he had been fielding calls from people who were concerned that they might have acquired a counterfeit cigar
Padrón assured them that the cigar was the real deal
The company is not using the new band design for its Padrón Series
and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
