at the GP AMV Seguros of Spain on the weekend Racing for the Outsiders Yamaha Racing – Team Enduro who described the round as a “tough weekend” as it was a mentally and physically exhausting race for her managed to score a sixth and fourth place respectfully on a track which was covered in dust and challenging rocks to navigate her way over with Gardiner finishing second in the Super test saying it was a nice way to get the ball rolling The first day of racing on Saturday proved to be quite difficult for Gardiner which marked her sixteenth race start in the FIM Enduro GP series she lacked a bit of speed and crashed many times throughout the day which resulted her finishing in sixth place with a total time of 43min48.02 “I crashed nearly two times in a lot of the special tests and two times on every lap in the Enduro test,” explained Gardiner who openly admitted that she had a really bad feeling as her mentality was just down “It was just a really hard race as the trail was probably one of the hardest that existed in the world championships that the women do.” Throughout the six heats during the race there pretty much wasn’t a moment Gardiner and her competitors were not in a rut which proved it was a really just tough event “Thankfully with my Funnel Web Air filters I only needed to change one filter during the day which shows just why they are best on the market as my Yamaha WR250F didn’t take in any dust The Outsiders Yamaha Racing team and I will regroup tonight and hopefully come out stronger tomorrow,” Gardiner concluded at the end of day one Heading into the second day of competition all Gardiner wanted to do was to improve on her finishing order the day before and simply get back to where she really should be who has previously raced in three Spanish GP’s (2013-14-15) had a much better of a day on Sunday A total time of 42min55.09 was recorded for Gardiner however the main thing was she had a much better feeling with her Yamaha WR250F in all of the tests which saw her posting the fourth quickest times in four out of the six heats “Today was a much better day,” beamed Gardiner “I managed to stay up on two wheels for the whole day improve my times and finished a lot better than what I did on Saturday So overall I can leave here in a much better frame of mind and head into round two of the Enduro GP with a bit more confidence “It was still a very challenging day I admit I don’t think I have pushed and pulled a motorcycle around like I did in a long time I’m very happy with today’s outcome which is the main thing.” Gardiner has confirmed that she will contest the remaining three rounds of the Women’s FIM Enduro GP World Championship with the Outsiders Yamaha Racing – Team Enduro Gardiner will head into round two of the series in fifth place in the championship with 33-points to her name The second round will take place at Parádfürdó in Hungary on 23-25 June Next stop for Gardiner is this weekend for the opening round of the Read our Privacy notice A 52-year-old British woman has been reported missing in severe flooding which has so far claimed nine lives in southern Spain, authorities said today. Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes after torrential rain led to flash flooding in the Andalucian provinces of Malaga, Almeria and Murcia. The woman, who has yet to be named, was reported missing in Almeria, a spokeswoman for the regional government of Andalucia said. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it was looking into the reports as "a matter of urgency". Heavy downpours and resulting high waters have killed five people in the province of Murcia, three in Almeria and one in Malaga. Five people originally declared missing had been found alive. Jackie Broad, 58, said her home in Mojacar, Almeria, was too high up to be flooded but she had seen cars get washed away by raging torrents of water. She said: "The river at the bottom of our road has burst its banks. There was a lot of water, in some places up to the roofs of shops and houses. "The water has run away now but it's left about a foot of mud everywhere. A lot of the roads are closed so we're having trouble getting around." Those who have died include two children who were found drowned in a car in Puerto Lumbreras in Murcia, Spanish national radio reported, while it said an elderly man was found dead near the town's cemetery. The heavy rain started yesterday morning throughout Spain and follows months of drought and soaring summer temperatures which helped trigger thousands of wildfires. Meanwhile, 35 people were injured when a tornado swept through a fairground and knocked down a Ferris wheel in Valencia last night. The tornado damaged several rides and cut electricity at the temporary fair set up in the main square of Gandia, according to its town hall website. It said 15 of the injured were seriously hurt, all of whom were treated on site. regret their actions with heavy fines being used to punish civil disobedience during the national state of emergency but a 22-year-old man in the province of Granada will be feeling especially remorseful after his defiance of the restrictions ended with him facing drug-related charges The man concerned was stopped by the Guardia Civil and the Policía Local in Valderrubbio and was unable either to provide prove of his ID or to supply a valid reason for his being out in the streets For this reason the officers accompanied him to his home but when they arrived they noticed that the Madrid through Castile-La Mancha and the Valencian community to the region of Murcia The new line will accommodate passenger trains and freight trains of up to 400m and 750m in length respectively The development is projected to require an investment of €3.58bn ($3.94bn) The Murcia-Almería high-speed railway project is being developed within the provinces of Almería The Murcia-Almería high-speed railway line will comprise sections featuring both single and double tracks The initiative also encompasses the electrification of the entire railway line which will be fitted with a European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 signalling system and advanced safety technology the project’s development has been segmented into 17 sections between Almeria and Murcia The contract for the permitted to enter a red level municipality other than for essential reasons the number of active covid cases in the Murcia Region was 4,497 and just a week later we are facing 9,234 active cases according to the latest figures presented on Monday 11th January The figures of the last week have yielded the highest single week since the pandemic began and there is no doubt that a third wave has abruptly erupted in the region More than 76% of these new contagions are known to have originated through either leisure activity or in the domestic environment or according to the spòkesman for the regional Covid Monitoring Committee a combination of both; one family member contracting the virus through a social contact and then infecting their family at home Once again the regional government is taking stringent measures to try and limit the spread of the contagions and on Monday announced that 36 municipalities would be confined and their bars prohibited from opening altogether from midnight on Monday The whole region is now on phase 2 high alert level with the risk considered extreme This means that residents from these 36 municipalities are not permitted to cross the borders of their municipality into another residents from outside of these municipalities are not permitted to cross over into the confined municipalities other than for essential reasons are NOT permitted to drive into Mazarrón to shop at the market even though Mazarrón is NOT CONFINED This has left a "covid triangle" comprising Mazarrón Alhama de Murcia and Totana in the centre of the region which are not confined so residents of these three municipalities may move around freely within their "triangle" but may not enter the municipalities surrounding them It also permits a further week of trading for bars and restaurants in these three municipalities so enjoy it while it lasts; the situation will be reviewed again next week These are the 36 municipalities which are now confined: Moratalla bars
