No single prospect currently frustrates the San Diego Padres and their staff more than pitcher Adrian Morejon the future seems very bright for San Diego Padres’ left-handed pitching prospect Adrian Morejon The native of Cuba signed with the Padres during the 2016-17 international signing period as the pitcher agreed to an $11 million deal with A.J Armed with three plus-pitches and an ability to change speeds on his changeup Morejon certainly does not lack stuff when he toes the rubber There is a tremendous amount of upside when it comes to Adrian Morejon The southpaw just needs to find consistency who seems to take two steps forward and one step back continuously as he learns the nuances of the game The 20-year-old is exceptionally young and already made his major league debut, so we are not talking about a prospect who is toiling in the low minors. Morejon is three days younger than phenom MacKenzie Gore and very capable of blossoming in the correct situation But what will it take to get better results from this young prospect In speaking to some who evaluate the Padres’ organization they would like to see some more toughness from the young pitcher Morejon has continually battled nagging injuries throughout his brief career he has spent time on the shelf with a litany of injuries San Diego has admittedly taken it slow with the pitcher when he shows any sign of wear or things will quickly escalate into permanent damage So perhaps this criticism of Morejon is more appropriate if you direct it towards the team and their handling of him The Cuban pitcher can sometimes display characteristics that are concerning If a player makes an error behind you or you allow a crucial walk in a vital situation – you need to shake it off there will be times in a game when your back is against the wall The pitchers that excel are the ones who can withstand these tough times and learn from them Adrian Morejon has plenty of time to grow in the game of baseball If he can figure it all out and find a balance on the mound the Padres could have another potential top-of-the-order pitcher Take a look at this scouting report from Brooks Baseball Morejon recorded a 10.13 ERA in five games and eight innings pitched at the major league level The Cuban pitcher allowed runs in all but one contest showing the shakiness you’d expect to witness from a young pitcher and he backed that up with a curve in the low 80’s His changeup averaged 88.4 mph as the lefty struggled and overthrew the pitch a bit Expect his numbers to improve as he gets comfortable and can subtract velocity on the pitch There is a tremendous ceiling for Adrian Morejon If the pitcher can figure out the mental aspect of the game and continue to improve he could very well be one of the best Padres prospects in the whole system when it is all said and done The Padres have taken it slow with the lefty throughout his minor league career the 2020 season may be a time when we see the training wheels come off and Adrian Morejon shows that competitive spirit which is needed to advance James was born and raised in America’s Finest City He is a passionate baseball fan with even more passion towards his hometown Padres James has written about the Padres and their prospects for over a decade He also writes about San Diego State as well as other local sports James is the Editor-In-Chief of EastVillageTimes.com Always striving to bring you the highest quality in San Diego Sports News If we can’t afford to be patient with a 20-year old while he develops ,,, Clearly they can’t considering what they did with Luis Urias Another promising prospect if only if he can!! are presently in a youth movement but having a former Padre great on the team might be a fun idea Adrian Gonzalez is now approaching the end of his professional baseball career at 36 years old “El Titan” tried to maintain a consistent starting role for the New York Mets in 2018 but failed to do so and was eventually released on June 10 Gonzalez hit just .237/.299/.373 with six home runs 26 RBI and a -0.6 WAR in 54 games before the Mets lost their patience “Agon” still has a lot to offer to an MLB organization with his wealth of experience over the past 15 MLB seasons but he could go for one last hurrah in MLB and the San Diego Padres are the team that should offer it to him It is not a stretch to say that the San Diego native is one of the greatest players to ever play for the San Diego Padres. “El Titan” smashed 161 home runs for the Friars, good for second-most in franchise history, just two behind the all-time leader, Nate Colbert Andy Green’s team should not be competitive in 2019 and the season will likely serve as a development year for several young players Adrian Gonzalez would be taking up a roster spot but the Padres would be getting invaluable experience that not even the current manager has “Agon” could be honored by the club as he breaks team records and tries to stay in the game he loves something that the fans should be excited about did most of the series previews and recaps in the Padres’ 2016 season for EVT Now I focus more on the local soccer scene Copa América and European clubs like Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund He is not “nearing the end of his career” He DONE He is also clubhouse poison ask Boston who couldn’t wait to dump him on LA Which by the way was one of the truly great trades in baseball history If you are already writing off the 2019 season prior to off season trades and spring training I suggest you have let your personal feelings about one particular player cloud your judgement I am not singing World Series praise or hopes on the Padres let us see what they can do given the best opportunity in 2019 (which does not include a player that cannot stay in the league due to being a little long in the tooth That is the worst idea I ever heard of and by the way Adrian Gonzales is not one of the greatest Padre players who could have left the team for more money but didn’t was the greatest player to wear a Padre uniform I like the earlier idea of Agon as a hitting coach His professional career is essentially over Until age crept in his hitting approach was solid he grew up in CV/TJ and he probably has a bigger axe to grind with the Dodgers than anyone of us Bring him back but only as a hitting coach/ambassador of the Padres If you want to have him mentor young players make him the hitting coach We have one terrible first baseman already Maybe the worst idea I’ve ever seen on EVT We dont need him to infect the Padres youth with his poor attitude Just watch the way he rarely ever hustled out a grounder He was a GOOD player for the Padres for a few years designed for organizations committed to maximizing their impact designed for organizations looking to scale impact designed for the people behind our brand San Adrian Solar Panels The installation of nearly 4,500 solar panels at our San Adrian plant in northern Spain is just the latest in a series of environmental efforts that have earned the plant a reputation as one of the most innovative in that region The plant already receives all of its electricity – representing one-third of its energy overall – from renewable sources such as wind power And it has significantly trimmed its water and energy usage rates in recent years describes the solar panel project as part of a renewable energy culture ingrained within the fabric of the San Adrian facility planet and profit – in our decision-making process That’s why these kinds of projects are feeding our ideas pipeline Corporate social responsibility (CSR) represents the way we do business We believe in giving back to the community and the environment benefits from our activity,” Pablo says The idea for the solar panels originated four years ago during a conversation between San Adrian plant manager John Roszbach and Ignacio Barbadillo director of operations and development shops for Häagen-Dazs in Spain “Ignacio told me that there were companies in Spain looking for roof space to install devices such as solar panels and telephone receivers and knew that our plant would be a good fit,” says John The installation of the 5.5 feet by 3.35 feet (1,650 millimeters by 991 millimeters) devices was completed in July and marks the first time a General Mills plant in Europe has solar panels—a collection of solar cells designed to turn the sun’s energy into electricity General Mills installed its first solar panels at our Minneapolis global headquarters’ East Wing building – and at two plants in China – to heat water Then a General Mills facility in Massachusetts followed in spring 2010 with solar panels on its roof more were put in place at our headquarters with that energy used to power parking ramp light fixtures While General Mills owns all of those installations The solar panels at the San Adrian plant were installed through a unique arrangement: The plant rented its roof space in a 25-year lease with MB Solar a Spain-based company that specializes in solar energy. MB Solar installed the German-manufactured panels and then sold them to several private investors Each solar panel generates 250 watts of electricity so combined they generate nearly 1.5 million kilowatt hours annually but not nearly enough to meet San Adrian’s energy needs Since General Mills does not own the solar panels the company won’t directly benefit from the electricity generated this electricity will go directly into the network of Spain energy supplier Iberdrola which in turn will sell the electricity to customers and John says the company will consider doing so The plant’s years-long dedication toward sustainable energy hasn’t gone unnoticed by industry peers throughout Europe General Mills is viewed by government officials as one of the most creative companies in the state of Navarra the plant hosted a group of state officials Navarra’s vice president and minister for economy vice president of the Navarra government for Economy “She was very impressed with the work we are doing on managing our waste flows and also the solar panel project management especially in this very challenging economic period,” says John And General Mills’ steady path along the green energy route has influenced others “Our company is always looking for continuous improvement of processes and performance and this is affecting and triggering local companies and suppliers as well in a positive manner as they innovate and grow along with General Mills,” says Pablo The concept of solar energy has been around for decades but solar panels can be expensive to produce while payback from the installation is not always evident the company’s Supply Chain Energy program manager “Although energy prices are somewhat stagnant those companies that are pursuing renewable energy and trying to understand the strategic fit are positioning themselves to have a competitive edge There will be a time when it will be cost effective for us Wojnarowski reached an agreement with sports tech company Players Health to provide both performance incentives and insurance to the Bonnies NBAE via Getty Images There’s nothing inherently swanky about the office located in Room 107 of the Frank Tejeda Academy situated 13 miles down I-410 from downtown San Antonio The concrete walls are painted an off-pink/purple mix that’s more drab than vibrant while manila folders filled with curriculums and administrative clerical work neatly line the lightly stained wood shelving residing behind a plasticky gray The man who modernized the pro hoops scoop business has since retired his cellphones (the three calls that came in during a 20-minute interview notwithstanding) to assume a front office role for his alma mater’s men’s basketball team That “Woj” saw this world as a break from the persistence of NBA insider work is perhaps more of an indictment on his past profession than his current one his new realities center on helping his beloved Bonnies find an edge amid a landscape that favors Goliath over any would-be Davids more than ever “The biggest thing for us in getting these deals done is we have to get value on every contract,” Wojnarowski said “I have to get high-major players for mid-major money.” The trick to this college basketball business is finding an advantage where others might not look a sports tech company that provides risk management services reporting tools and insurance products to sports organizations was brought on to provide protections against critical injuries and offer performance incentive insurance that allows St Woj — to offer players agreements worth more money than the program might actually have in its coffers Bonaventure could write into his deal that he’d receive a $25,000 bonus if he earns all-conference honors Players Health pays out the bonus difference the company has already secured money from the Bonnies based on the premium paid on the front end “I have found with those who would donate to us it’s not just money lost,‘” Wojnarowski said “We’re not NBA teams who have a billionaire owner who’s just gonna bankroll it but you want to show [donors] that it’s just not going into some black hole.” Bonaventure is usually one of two things for recruits: 1) the first stop en route to a high-major or 2) a place where a high-major didn’t work out and a player needs to perform to earn a shot at pro ball which also hired Wojnarowski as a brand ambassador and named him to its NIL advisory board last week thus allows the Bonnies to remain competitive in a market that is seeing valuations grow on a hockey stick-like vector “We’ve got to position ourselves in those ways,” he said “What allows us to do that is our partnership with Players Health deals and the ability to be creative in these deals I have found it gets you to the finish line with people who are really really trying to find a way to come play for you This allows [us] to make a real case financially to do it.” That Woj and the Bonnies are attacking the NIL market with ingenuity shouldn’t come as a complete shock But what the ecosystem looks like a year from now is murky The proposed House settlement lays out the framework for a clearinghouse operated by Deloitte to vet NIL deals worth $600 or more to ensure they’re “fair market value” and not pay-for-play agreements being passed off as something else That almost assuredly means money previously flowing through collectives and boosters could be more scrutinized while “real” NIL brand deals would become increasingly valuable and necessary Cooper Flagg and his mini-marketing empire aren’t necessarily heading to an Atlantic 10 school in Western New York, but brands still may come calling for the Bonnies’ bunch. “We’re going to have an opportunity with our group this year — once the group is all signed — to have some guys with national [brand deals],” Wojnarowski said. “But in terms of, like, the vetting of these deals, I don’t understand it yet. What is going to mark ‘fair market value?’ “We’re all kind of just making these numbers up, right? … I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that, but we are. But that’s all of us. That’s everybody. I’m fascinated to see how they’re going to police this.” As he prepares to slip out of the office for his next engagement, Wojnarowski channels Hollywood to better encapsulate his and the Bonnies’ strategy toward a shifting NIL landscape. “I think about the ‘Moneyball’ scene all the time with Brad Pitt [portraying Oakland A’s GM Billy Beane], where he’s sitting in the room and he says to the scouts, ‘If we try to play with the Yankees in here, they’re going to kill us out there,’ or whatever that line was,” he recites. “I think about that every day.” If Woj turns out to be college basketball’s Billy Beane, the Bonnies will be quite all right.
