Barça fans will be able to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the club’s founding on 14 June by joining the Culer Walk (Marxa Culer),, culminating at the Abbey of Montserrat. The event also forms part of the celebrations marking the millennium of the Benedictine monastery. It is open to members, supporters’ club members (penyistes), and all fans of FC Barcelona, who can now register online via the members' section of the club’s website. This is a non-competitive walk and will follow the participation guidelines of the Federació d’Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC), with whom FC Barcelona has signed a collaboration agreement. The event has been made possible thanks to the voluntary work of FEEC-affiliated organisations and the advice of their experts. The Marxa Culer was originally scheduled for 22 March, and had drawn significant interest, but was postponed due to heavy rain that damaged the route. Those who registered in March and wish to take part in the rescheduled walk on 14 June must register again. The club will offer a return coach service from Monistrol de Montserrat at a flat rate of €10. Departure times will be adapted to participants’ arrival at the monastery. The cost of the rack railway descent from the monastery to Monistrol is not included. FC Barcelona and the Abbey of Montserrat — two historic institutions deeply rooted in Catalonia — are jointly celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary and the Monastery’s millennium. Their historic link was formalised on 16 December 2024 with the signing of a twinning agreement, reaffirming their shared commitment to collaboration. Over 60 kilometers of queues across territory with AP7 highway most affected road ACN | Barcelona Major traffic jams have formed across Catalonia’s main highways as thousands of people are traveling ahead of Sant Joan celebrations on Thursday afternoon over 60 kilometers of queues were reported by the Catalan traffic authorities The vast majority of congestion is on the AP7 highway which crosses the territory from north to south The main traffic jam is on the southern side of the highway where authorities reported up to 27 kilometers of traffic between the towns of Sant Andreu de la Barca and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda.  there are 20 kilometers of congestion Cars are stopped between Granollers and Cerdanyola del Vallès Around 450,000 vehicles are expected to leave the Barcelona area from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning coinciding with the Sant Joan celebrations and the long three-day weekend.  Other places in Catalonia affected by traffic jams are the A2 highway towards Tarragona there are 8 kilometers of queues and 11 km on the C-32 from Sitges to Tarragona June 23, the eve of Saint John's Day, has traditionally been regarded as 'the shortest night of the year' – while it is not exactly correct, because the countdown for a long and dark winter begins on June 21, it is a perfect motto to celebrate the summer solstice. Catalans feel a real need to make the most of the barely 9-hour night, with partying in the streets, beaches, and squares up to a clear deadline: the sunrise, at around 6 am. The first post-Covid 'revetlla de Sant Joan,' or 'revetlla' (for 'eve'), as locals refer to the night, will try to be similar to pre-pandemic ones, with firecrackers being set off by children, their parents, families, and groups of friends, together with bonfires in town squares, intersections, and beaches.  As thousands take to the roads, family members of car crash victims will warn drivers in some petrol stations in Barcelona. They will explain their experiences to caution them about the risks faced when not respecting driving rules.  Volunteers from Stop Accidents civil society group will speak to drivers at three different petrol stations across the Catalan capital, such as the one at Avinguda del Litoral 45, Carrer Diputació street 317, and at Passeig Santa Coloma boulevard 71.  According to figures from Spain's Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) in 2021, 1,004 people died in car accidents on Spanish roads. That same year, 3,728 more were injured. "We cannot forget that we do not drive alone, but we share the roads with other drivers. It is also crucial to remember that it is important to go, return, and enjoy the holidays without any risk," the group said in a statement.  Get the day's biggest stories right to your phone a focused and innovative specialty chemical company today announced  it has completed ISO 22000 certification for its sites at Sant Andreu de la Barca (Barcelona) Together with the Indonesian site and the former certified site in Singapore Sant Andreu de la Barca is the third global site Certification strengthens Clariant’s global capabilities and leadership position as a supplier of high-quality high-performance color and additive masterbatches for the food industry Applications supported by the Spanish site include plastics caps and closures regulators have determined that packaging that comes in direct contact with food products must be considered a food ingredient and must meet the same standards for safety Since Clariant’s color and additive concentrates are used in making plastics packaging achieving ISO 22000 status for its manufacturing plants simplies the certification process for its customers and their clients “Our objective was to build on Clariant’s long-standing collaboration with current customers and expand the business related to food contact applications,” says Alessandro Dulli “We now can readily support food producers who are already using a similar standard or plastics converters who want to make sure that the entire value chain applies comparable procedures to the ones they are using in their production lines.” ISO 22000 is a family of international standards that addresses food-safety management and lists measures that an organization needs to put in place to control eventual food safety hazards These regulations are more stringent than earlier standards governing simple food contact The need for such a standard is driven by an increased level of awareness of consumers towards food safety a qualified Swiss provider of international certifications and audit systems, took roughly one full year and will undergo constant annual review It represents a further step over HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) qualification that San Andreu achieved a few years ago Chinese manufacturer Chery apparently wants to build cars in Spain specifically in the former Nissan plant in Barcelona Chery is close to a deal and could finalise an agreement to start production in Barcelona in the coming days This was reported by the news agency Reuters citing information from the Spanish government and the lead negotiator EV Motors It would be Chery’s first production facility in Europe The agreement is said to be close to being finalised after a Spanish delegation held promising talks with Chery in China this week Nissan ceased production at its Barcelona plant at the end of 2021 That was also when the last example of the Nissan e-NV200 electric van rolled off the production line The Japanese company started producing vehicles there in 1983 with the Nissan Patrol The production facility in Barcelona consists of three parts – the main plant in Zona Franca a press shop in Montcada i Reixac and facilities for frame and suspension construction in Sant Andreu de la Barca who want to develop it into a centre for electric vehicles EV Motors is said to have “acquired full corporate control of the hub in March” and will thus play a key role in the talks with Chery The size of the part of the plant that would house Chery is not clear from the article.Chery began selling vehicles in Spain at the beginning of the year The company has a mix of cars with combustion engines hybrid drives and purely electric drives in its portfolio It is not known whether the Spanish authorities are offering Chery the prospect of public aid for local production Spain plans to launch two tenders this year in which companies can receive a total of 1.7 billion euros in loans and grants for the production of electric vehicles in the country Chery announced its European launch in 2023 with three brands and a broad drive mix.
