Barça fans will be able to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the club’s founding on 14 June by joining the Culer Walk (Marxa Culer),, culminating at the Abbey of Montserrat. The event also forms part of the celebrations marking the millennium of the Benedictine monastery. It is open to members, supporters’ club members (penyistes), and all fans of FC Barcelona, who can now register online via the members' section of the club’s website. This is a non-competitive walk and will follow the participation guidelines of the Federació d’Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC), with whom FC Barcelona has signed a collaboration agreement. The event has been made possible thanks to the voluntary work of FEEC-affiliated organisations and the advice of their experts. The Marxa Culer was originally scheduled for 22 March, and had drawn significant interest, but was postponed due to heavy rain that damaged the route. Those who registered in March and wish to take part in the rescheduled walk on 14 June must register again. The club will offer a return coach service from Monistrol de Montserrat at a flat rate of €10. Departure times will be adapted to participants’ arrival at the monastery. The cost of the rack railway descent from the monastery to Monistrol is not included. FC Barcelona and the Abbey of Montserrat — two historic institutions deeply rooted in Catalonia — are jointly celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary and the Monastery’s millennium. Their historic link was formalised on 16 December 2024 with the signing of a twinning agreement, reaffirming their shared commitment to collaboration. This is one of the main takeaways from an analysis made by the Catalan News Agency (ACN) of the municipal audits, which are mandatory for water supply entities in services with more than 5,000 subscribers. The tests show that Amposta and Alcanar are the towns that lose the most water, with 60% and 56% of the total that enters the network. Both councils believe they will be able to reverse the losses by recontracting the maintenance services.  The mayor of Amposta, Adam Tomàs, defended his municipal council, pointing out to the Catalan News Agency that they have been working for a decade to stop these water losses. Tomàs explained that the leaks have "stabilized." " "When we build a road, we change all of the water infrastructure," Tomàs said. "We install rainwater deposits, we change the pipes, replace the lead pipes. We have found a lot of lead and fibre cement pipes which are completely deficient, in a really bad state, leading to a lot of water losses, and we change out the sewers." The mayor added that the work to fix such damaged infrastructure is very expensive for the council to carry out, and called for aid for municipalities to stop the leaks. According to data from the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), 133 municipalities had to publish the results of the studies before March 31, 2024. At the moment, 12 still have not done so. 101 municipalities have published the document, as well as 17 more that are also obliged to do so with additional aggregated data from Aigües de Barcelona, and 15 more towns have also published the data despite not being obliged to do so. The audits show that in 61 of the 133 cases, more than 20% of the total water introduced into the network is being lost due to leaks and problems with the pipes. The average loss for all towns is 22%, while the 17 municipalities that depend on Agbar, such as Barcelona, Badalona l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat or Castelldefels, are 7.7% of the water introduced into the system. Over one million journeys have been made using the Barcelona metropolitan area's bike-sharing scheme AMBici during the first ten months since its launch.  More than 20,000 users have signed up to the service, which has 2,600 bicycles (including electric bikes) and 230 stations located in 13 towns across the counties of Baix Llobregat and Barcelonès.  The scheme's arrival in Sant Adrià de Besòs is imminent, and by the end of the year it is expected in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Catalonia's second most-populous city, adjacent to Barcelona.  The service is already available in cities and towns such as Badalona, Viladecans, Cornellà, Castelldefels, Sant Joan Despí and Sant Feliu de Llobregat, the last city to join the network.  In the future, the scheme could be extended even more, to towns such as Cerdanyola, Sant Cugat or Montcada.  The municipalities where the service is most used, according to data from September, are Badalona (189,315), Viladecans (137,434) and Cornellà (116,373). The most popular times for usage are between 7am and 8am, at 2pm, and between 5pm and 9pm.  For the first year, the subscription fee was set at €25 and included 30 minutes of free riding time. Starting in January, however, the price is set to rise to €40, with the first 30 minutes costing €0.15 and each subsequent half hour charged at €0.50, up to a maximum of two hours.  Barcelona city has its own bike-sharing network, Bicing, with several transfer stations where users of the two systems can swap their AMBici bike for a Bicing or vice versa.    v1.1.0. Copyright © 2025. Powered by EBANTIC. All rights reserved. First published: October 25, 2022 06:52 PM Barcelona residents and visitors alike will already be familiar with the red bikes that make up the city's Bicing bicycle sharing scheme. From 2023, the wider metropolitan area will have its own equivalent in red and blue livery: AMBici.  AMBici will be launched progressively next year with 2,600 latest-generation electric bikes and 236 parking stations.  Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí and Cornellà de Llobregat will be the first municipalities to welcome the new scheme at the beginning of 2023, with the rollout reaching twelve other municipalities over the following three months.  The annual cost of the service in 2023 will be €25. This allows users to use bikes for 30 minutes free of charge. After the first half hour the cost will be 50 cents per 30 minutes.  From 2024, the subscription will rise to €40 a year and cost 15 cents for the first half hour and 50 cents per half hour thereafter.  It has not proved possible to fully integrate the new AMBici scheme with Barcelona's existing bikeshare system, Bicing.   However, to facilitate shared use, seven transfer stations will be installed, two in Sant Adrià de Besòs, three in L'Hospitalet, and one each in Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Esplugues de Llobregat, where users of the two systems can swap their AMBici bike for a Bicing one or vice versa.   An integrated metropolitan subscription will be created for the two services, costing between €53 and €65 annually.  AMBici will be managed by TMB (Barcelona Metropolitan Transport) and is co-financed with €7m from EU Next Generation funds. It represents a new impetus to enhance and facilitate sustainable mobility options in the metropolis of Barcelona, Antoni Poveda, vice-president of Mobility, Transport and Sustainability at the AMB, explained at Tuesday's presentation.  First published: October 29, 2024 02:28 PM The Barcelona metropolitan area is set to have nearly 10,000 shared electric motorbikes available by the end of the year. The Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) launched the new service on Tuesday, which will operate in the city of Barcelona and seven surrounding cities. Aside from the capital, the bikes will also be available in Esplugues de Llobregat, Sant Just Desvern, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and Sant Adrià de Besòs. Approximately 7,000 e-bikes will be available within Barcelona itself, with the remaining 3,000 distributed across the other cities. This 'motosharing' model is similar to Bicing for bicycles but differs in one key aspect: it will not be unified under a single service provider. Instead, five companies will operate the service, each responsible for around 2,000 motorbikes. The companies are: Hori Rides, Yego Urban, Cooltra Motosharing, Go Sharing and Acciona Mobility. Each company will have its own app and pricing structure. The licenses are valid for two years, and the service will roll out gradually from Wednesday until the end of the year. The initiative aims to promote sustainable mobility, reduce car use and emissions, and improve public health. "We continue to promote sustainable, electric, safe and shared mobility, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the number of vehicles on the road," says AMB Mobility vicepresident Carles Cordón. As part of a collaborative project, the five buildings are interconnected by exterior stairs that, aside from providing access, become communal terraces to be shared by residents. Santander, La Sagrera-TAV, and La Sagrera will be the new stations after that extension is complete.  L9 and L10 are currently open only at either end of the city – the far north traunch and the far south piece. Both lines have different endpoints, but they converge at a certain stop; Bon Pastor in the case of the north lines, Can Tries Gornal for the southern part.  The L10 Sud in the Zona Franca currently connects Collblanc with the ZAL – Riu Vell stop. According to current plans, this line will extend further south and end at the Pratenc station, located at Barcelona-El Prat airport.  'Batec' movement believes Spain is not investing enough in Catalan railway network, as protest has limited impact Dozens of young activists have forced open ticket barriers in several train stations in the Barcelona area to denounce a "disastrous" commuter train service provided by the Spanish government-owned company Renfe duct-taped the barriers open in stations such as Passeig de Gràcia (Barcelona) which focused on Spain's alleged lack of investment in the Catalan Rodalies commuter train network Renfe said the support for the protest was "scarce," while 'Batec' called the move a "success" and said some 20 train stations had their barriers duct-taped open "A lot of people have been able to travel without paying which was our aim," said spokesperson Antònia Maria Dols. Vilassar de Mar and Castellbisbal were some of the stations where the protest took place where there are no ticket barriers.   The company managing the service said that it is the Catalan government the one in charge of fining passengers without ticket and reminded that paying for the commute also covers the user with the compulsory travel insurance.  Renfe reminds that there are "a lot of channels" other than fare-dodging to complain and adds that an "impotant effort" in investing on Rodalies commuter network is in place Batec, which means 'heartbeat' in Catalan, is a newly formed group that is encouraging fare-dodging from Wednesday as Renfe has been plagued with frequent delays and other disruptions for years especially those who have to travel to Barcelona and other major cities on a daily basis have long complained of this situation.   "We won't pay until Madrid does!" their website reads. extended to 15 nearby towns with interchange stops within the city limits passengers can switch from one type of bicycle to another Ambici is different from Barcelona’s Bicing and will not be used to travel around the Catalan capital Bicycles in the city may also not be taken to ride outside the city limits will build seven stations where it will be possible to exchange the two-wheeled bikes of one system and the other in towns near the city It will be something like someone who gets off the bus and takes the subway or the railroad The aim is to integrate the two bike-sharing models The future merger will take several years to consolidate while the contracts are coming to an end: the Ambici contract for six more years and the Bicing contract The connection stops will be located at three strategic points: a metropolitan pass will be marketed with which cyclists will be able to use both services The price of the integrated subscription will be between 53 and 65 euros Bicing users who buy the integrated pass will save 20% as the flat rate will go from 50 to 40 euros and the usage rate from 35 to 28 euros Ambici’s new service will be launched in early 2023 with 2,600 bicycles this service currently has more than 7,000 with 2,000 electric prototypes and around 135,000 subscribers Ambici is estimated to cost the AMB about $40.5 million 7.2 million came from the European Next Generation anti-crisis funds which were earmarked for the purchase of bicycles and stops The first will be located in Sant Feliu de Llobregat which will take place during the first quarter of 2023 the stops will be extended to 12 more locations: L’Hospitalet de Llobregat In order to guarantee your privacy on this website and not leave any trace of your activity There's a "Quick Exit" button to exit pollution and add green areas expand the cycling network and generate more space for pedestrians This is the first step in the process to link the Trambesòs and Trambaxi systems providing more public transport options and improving mobility between nine municipalities in the metropolitan area As part of the Barcelona Superblock urban transformation plan the extension to the tram system is one of the ways the city is backing public transport and sustainable mobility as it works towards friendlier The new unified tram system will enable passengers to get from Glòries to Verdaguer in seven urban and metropolitan mobility Estimates point to the link-up of the current Trambaix and Trambesòs systems as potentially doubling the number of users with up to 220,000 passengers a day between the nine municipalities in the metropolitan area which will now be connected: Barcelona The various works associated with linking the tram systems mean changes to the spatial layout and uses in Av private motor vehicles using the avenue should drop by 12,000 a day helping to reduce noise and air pollution in the city pedestrians will have more space and more bike lanes will also be added along with pedestrians 2,500m2 in cycling space and 5,000 m2 in green areas The new section of the tram system will connect with four metro lines (L1 as well as linking with the three current Trambesòs lines (T4 The connection will use a power supply from the ground so that overhead lines are not needed Diagonal between C/ Castillejos and C/ Lepant pedestrians will circulate on the central section The side
