Barcelona City Council will begin a long-awaited project in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi: the construction of a new police station for the Guardia Urbana
This initiative seeks to modernize and expand police facilities in the district
a necessary step to offer a better service to residents and adapt to the new needs of the city
The current building of the Guardia Urbana in this district has been located in the Can Ponsic estate since 1988
has proven to be insufficient for the demands of a constantly growing police force
which will be developed on the same avenue
The new facilities will occupy 4,828 m² distributed over six floors
This represents a significant leap compared to the 1,239 m² of the old headquarters
The design of the new building seeks to integrate harmoniously into the urban environment of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
respecting the local architecture and adding a touch of modernity
The project involves an investment of 19.9 million euros by the Barcelona City Council
This figure reflects not only the magnitude of the work
but also the importance that the local administration attaches to improving public services
The municipal authorities have emphasized that
in addition to providing a more suitable space for the 140 officers currently working in the area
the new police station will also accommodate new officers who will be joining the force in the coming years
This move not only responds to the needs of citizens
but also to the growing demand for security and proximity in the district
the aim is to offer a more efficient and closer service to residents
the Guardia Urbana of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi has operated from the Can Ponsic estate
a place that has an undoubted historical value
This building not only houses the police station
but also shares space with the Can Ponsic Municipal Music School
over the years it has become evident that the infrastructure does not meet current standards
Can Ponsic is a building listed as a cultural asset of local interest (BCIL) and is a clear example of the neo-medieval architecture of the city
The building stands out for its two square towers
its imposing structure and its attached chapel
Although the police station will change location
the future of this space has yet to be defined
The intention is that it will continue to play a relevant cultural role within the district
The future Guardia Urbana building in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is designed to improve the operability and efficiency of the police force
it is expected to be a more sustainable structure adapted to modern needs
With six floors and more than 3,800 m² of usable space
the new police station promises to be a nerve center for security in the district
but closer to the Dalt ring road and the Can Caralleu traffic circle
accessibility will be an important advantage for both agents and citizens who need to carry out procedures or request assistance
The residents of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi can expect several improvements thanks to this project
the presence of a more modern and larger police station will allow a greater capacity to respond to emergencies
the new headquarters will facilitate the rapid arrival and departure of officers in case of incidents in other areas of the district
The work on the new police station will also have a positive impact on economic activity in the area
as it will generate employment and movement over the next 25 months
It is important to note that the investment of almost 20 million euros will not only benefit the police
who will be able to enjoy a more efficient and closer service
According to the official statement from the City Council
October 21 and is expected to take about 25 months
This means that the new police station should be ready by November 2026
the result will be a completely new infrastructure that will improve both security and coexistence in the neighborhood
the current police station in Can Ponsic will remain in operation
ensuring that the service to citizens is not interrupted
the definitive transfer to the new facilities will take place
The development of the new Territorial Unit of the Guardia Urbana in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is not only a present need
The Guardia Urbana of Barcelona continues to grow and adapt to the new challenges posed by the city
The incorporation of new agents in the coming years will be key to ensuring that Barcelona remains a safe and well-managed city
the creation of this new police station in one of the city’s most emblematic districts is a reminder that
security and proximity to citizens remain fundamental pillars for the Barcelona City Council
The construction of the new police station in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi marks a milestone in the evolution of the Guardia Urbana service in Barcelona
this project responds to both the needs of the present and those of the future
The district’s residents can expect significant improvements in security and quality of life
while the City Council continues to invest in the modernization of its infrastructure

The Oreneta Park is ideal because it is located in a forest in the district of Sarrià – Sant-Gervasi with several entrances
The park offers so many possibilities so that families with children have the opportunity to enjoy a perfect morning or afternoon
The park is situated on a “little mountain” and you have to walk up to reach the biggest attraction (the little train)
We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and suitable shoes so you can move around without any problem
Children can choose between several “routes” to walk up and along the way one will find several playgrounds and areas to rest
Scattered around the park there are some areas with swings and zip lines
others with rubber jumping mats and slides
Each area is surrounded by sand so that children of all ages can play
the whole forest is full of pine and oak trees creating several shaded areas
is the picnic area located in the highest part (near some play areas and the train) where you can eat
snack and enjoy while the children are still playing
One of the main attractions of the park is the L’Oreneta train
Located “on top” of the park is a miniature steam train
that can be ridden by both adults and children
The train follows a short 5 minute circuit
As you may have seen in other posts, we love miniature trains, such as the one in the Tren del Parque Can Mercader de Cornellà or the one in el Parc de Catalunya de Sabadell.
The l’Oreneta train has been open to the public since 1978 and is a gem for train lovers
The steam locomotives are the most beautiful
although there are also other types of classical trains
The train follows a route of more than 600 meters and passes through tunnels
3 euros for both adults and children over 1 year
and the ride is unforgettable as children experience an adventure by holding their classic brown tickets between their hands that was previously purchased at a station
(Be sure to bring cash as they do not accept card.)
It really is the recreation of a full-fledged trip
a whistle and even a bell to which no child can resist when getting off the train
It is a perfect and fun way to show children how others once traveled by train
The train is only open on Sundays and holidays
You can find all the information about their collection of the trains as well as their schedules on their website: Train of the Parc de l’Oreneta: Tren del Parc de l’Oreneta
If you like trains, another plan that you will love with children is to visit the “Museu del Ferrocarril de Vilanova i la Geltrú” as well as the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia where they have several models
Note: Before the park offered an area with ponies
the license was not renewed by the City Council and is no longer available
You can get there with the train/metro (stop Reina Elisenda) or with the bus (V3 Esports- Ronda de dalt) or the bus 75 / H4 at the stop Pg
we recommend that you access the park from the entrance on Esports Street
since the path up from Gaspar Cassadó is not paved and has a steep slope

Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police broke into a Barcelona apartment on Friday evening not long after 8:15 pm to free two people who were being held against their will.
The officers forced their way into the building on Amigó street in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district after hours of unsuccessful talks with the kidnappers, arresting three people.
Police sources explained that they had received a call shortly before 5:15 pm alerting them to the fact that someone was being held hostage.
After going to the apartment in question they were able to confirm the veracity of the information and more officers, including some from the Mossos' Special Intervention Group (GEI) and negotiators from the Kidnapping and Extortion Unit, were sent to the site of the kidnapping.

What does a Château Lafite Rothschild taste like
Many wine lovers have asked us how a €2,000 bottle of wine goes down
you can find the answer in the shop / wine bar that is El Petit Celler
What makes this spot one of a kind are its 250 stratospheric wines from all over the world
We cannot responsibly say that most of the wines come at an affordable price
but there are at least some cheaper options that taste just as good to the untrained palate
A glass of mint-leaf burgundy goes for €97
But the fact that you can get a glass without having to buy the entire bottle is thanks to the Coravin dispenser they've got
which allows the wine to be extracted without opening the bottle
And for an affable €3 you can still try excellent wines such as Vinyes Velles 2014 Ferrer Bobet
has been collecting valuable bottles for about 20 years
He could sell them online for good money if he wanted
But instead he has decided to let them go a bit at a time
The real question when you go here is this: Do you notice the difference between a wine priced at €50 and one going for €500
As it usually goes in the world of drinking
the difference is marked by supply and demand
The Barcelona City Council has published the Household Disposable Income report
which shows incomes by neighborhood in the city
As every year at this point, Barcelona publishes Household Disposable Income Report that reveals which are the neighborhoods with the highest and lowest income in the city
As last year, the district with the highest RDLpc level is Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
which with 32,850€ exceeds Barcelona’s value by 52%
Ciutat Vella has the lowest income per capita
This changes if we take into account the Renta Primària de les Llars (RPL)
which is the value that shows the state of the income before the redistributive intervention of the public sector
Sarrià-Sant Gervasi has a RPLpc that exceeds the Barcelona average by 84% and the last place goes from Ciutat Vella to Nou Barris
where the RPL is lower than in Ciutat Vella
but whose inequality is somewhat mitigated by the effect of Social Benefits
which in Nou Barris have a much more important effect than in Ciutat Vella
The Renta of the neighborhoods confirms the trend of the districts
three times as much as the poorest neighborhood
the neighborhood with the highest per capita income in 2021 with an average of 37,800 euros per year
making it the neighborhood with the lowest per capita income in the city in 2021
The Verde outbreak is the increase in lower wages
which has slightly reduced income inequality between districts
Neighborhoods with below-average incomes had higher growth rates
from 9.5% in Ciutat Vella and 6.4% in Horta-Guinardó
while those with higher incomes increased less
from 4.5% in Gràcia to -0.9% in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
You can consult the complete report of the City Hall here
The Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district is home to the richest neighborhood in Barcelona according to a report by the National Statistics Institute (INE)
stands out as the neighborhood with the highest average income per inhabitant
This ranking shows that four of the most prosperous neighborhoods of the Catalan capital are located in this area
Les Tres Torres ranks seventh nationally in terms of per capita income
surpassing other Barcelona neighborhoods and ranking as the seventh richest in Spain
it is preceded by six Madrid neighborhoods in this ranking
In second place in Barcelona is the Pedralbes neighborhood
with an average per capita income of 32,462 euros per year
Both neighborhoods stand out for being the most expensive in terms of rent in the entire city
with an average housing price of 1,702 euros
Two other neighborhoods in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi are also among those with the highest purchasing power per capita in Barcelona
Sant Gervasi-Galvany has an average annual income of 30,407 euros per person
this report reveals that no neighborhood or city in Catalonia is among those with the lowest annual personal income in this year’s edition
The Urban Indicators Project, developed by INE, aims to provide information on living conditions in the main cities of the European Union
The Spanish version studies data from 126 Spanish cities
nine conurbations and 70 metropolitan areas around the main cities
As for the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona as a whole
it ranks fifth among the functional urban areas with the highest income per inhabitant per year
The functional area of Girona ranks twelfth on this list
Another noteworthy fact is that the city of Sant Cugat has the lowest unemployment rate in Spain
followed by Castelldefels (7.8%) and Cerdanyola del Vallès (9.2%)
The Catalan capital is also among the seven cities in Spain with the highest percentage of foreign population
They are followed by L’Hospitalet del Llobregat
Sant Cugat has the lowest unemployment rate and ranks eleventh in life expectancy with 84 years
In Barcelona there's a spot called Les Truites ('truita' is omelette in Catalan
Just by having a look around the restaurant's website
you'll know there's no doubt in their mind that the egg came before the chicken
While you're at the website you can feast your eyes on the array of omelettes that Juan Antonio Miró makes that is so dazzling I imagine he goes to bed resting his head on a fluffy omelette instead of a pillow
I go to Les Truites with a happy soul and a strong faith that has recently been questioned by some scandalously mediocre potato omelettes around town
Since Bar Michigan and its 'omelette spagnole' have been taken over by inferior chefs
In order to try enough of a variety to satisfy my chronic omelette habit
I order an assortment of six that together make a whole
and they tell me it also happens to be their best-seller
At first the sampler plate seems a bit strange
but it starts to win over this palate accustomed to simpler omelettes
and an extraordinary option is the 'morcilla' blood sausage with a hint of spiciness that I can easily see becoming a true vice
omelette is the courgette with onion – it's gorgeous
but gives me a bit of a feeling of dejà vu
I like omelettes when they're slightly undercooked
so the one with 'sobrassada' sausage and the one with olive paste are not for me
The sobrassada variety has a very red colour and a mild flavour
but if you like your omelettes more well-cooked
since olive paste is tricky and can take over the flavour of anything it's prepared with
this omelette might work better as an accompaniment to one with cod in
For dessert I order a 'coca de Sant Joan' omelette
and this one brings the flavour of the Sant Joan summer solstice celebrations to your table
Jordi Cruz has won a third Michelin star for Àbac
confirming his restaurant once again as the essential haute cuisine establishment in Barcelona
He reached such heights by creating cuisine filled with expertise and sophistication
but Cruz has done a number on the egg that is something out of an R&D think tank
then cured in salt water to give it just the exact subtle touch of salt
a divinely thin slice of Serrano ham and a spoonful of caviar
For over 40 years they've been turning acts as simple as peeling an orange into culinary art
This is a restaurant where true gourmet food lovers should dine – their truffles are peerless
while the service sets the standard for Spanish haute cuisine
They've more recently updated their menu under the direction of young Basque chef Sergio Humada
Pizza maker Max Morbi is a staunch promoter and defender of a new way of making pizzas
but there has to be a good balance with flavour
and we're big supporters of employing top baking techniques when making pizza.' The folks behind La Balmesina are Italians
but they like discovering everything tradition says you don't have to do
the restaurant cooks up three different types of crust (based on sourdough and plenty of time put into it): the thin and crunchy classic
This last variety comes in the shape of a giant rectangle – perfect for sharing
Dive right in: the crispy base and the delicacy of the recipes like the one with cream of artichoke are out of this world
The atmosphere and the taste of an authentic Catalan country house
That's what you will find at the renovated Casa Jordi
While keeping the spirit and cuisine that made the place so visited by good palates
the restaurant has made a delicious and interesting twist thanks to its new owner
Taking advantage of his valuable experiences at Reno and Botafumeiro
Better presented dishes tempting your eyes and
measured doses and a reduction of its most heavy aspects
Another new feature that good palates will appreciate is the possibility of half portions
“We are doing what we like the way we would like it to be served”
He has attended the most demanding palates in town and you could write a Bestseller with his anecdotes
We started with an excellent pa amb tomàquet (bread and spread tomato) as an accommodation for some anchovies hard to find theses days
The chickpeas stew with orellai morro (ear and snout) was a good choice for an appetizer
The main dish consisted of a trio of botifarres (pork sausage)
made by artisans that supply exclusively Mr
and some exquisite pickled sardines that he personally cleaned
very equilibrated and without the excess of vinegar usual in other places
Half portion of angler fish suquet (stew) with romesco (Catalan sauce) was the final choice among the fish after hard deliberation because of the hake cocotxes al pil-pil (hake barbel with oil
chilli and garlic) and the cod with candied garlic perfume
two of the most ordered dishes in the menu
The Santiago canyes (pastry roll)- with its home made pastry- are superior
but this time we choose the chocolate mousse done as it should be done
because he was in charge of the wines in the restaurants where he was the maître or director
To go with the surprising meal (surprising for the meeting with an emblematic place and an old friend) we have a Penedès red wine suggested by Lluís
which turned out to be an excellent choice

Barcelona kinda has it all. You can find traditional tapas joints
fine dining restaurants that aren’t afraid to spherify an olive and call it dinner
and farm-to-table spots serving exciting twists on local dishes
with Latin American and Japanese food in particular giving locals something other than fútbol to chat about
The city’s food scene has never been more fun
especially if you only have a few days in the city
We’ve selected the best of the best to help make sure you have no-dud dinners and make the most of your time
which can be summarized as “late”—lunch is at 2pm and dinner starts no earlier than 9pm

When you’ve had it with the dry ice and foam and want to see how real locals eat
and grocery store in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is busy and boisterous—you’re greeted by loud chatter and clinking glasses (they have an impressive wine list)
and walls are full of shelves stacked with jars
This place does things the way they used to be done
and not a squiggle of balsamic glaze or a decorative flower in sight
like red Mediterranean prawns and plump baby scallops served mostly naked (lightly grilled with a pinch of garlic and salt)
Catalunya is set between the mountains and the sea
with sea cucumber that has depth of flavor

Sant Antoni
“Casa de menjars,” which roughly translates to “food house,” refers to an old-school style of Catalan restaurant that served traditional home-cooked food to the working class during breakfast and lunch
While the modern-day versions are more refined and stay open for dinner
the way they serve traditional recipes and use high-quality ingredients hasn’t changed
Maleducat opened just a few years ago and quickly became a local favorite
concise menu is broken down by small bites
We recommend the red tuna tartare with tomato sorbet
Try them on their sidewalk patio (if you can get a spot)
DisfrutarMediterranean
Eixample
Despite being one of the best restaurants in the world
you’d struggle to find a fine-dining spot more laid-back and actually pleasant than Disfrutar
The three owners were each previously head chefs at elBulli (the place where they started putting foam on plates)
and they’ve brought all that expertise here
What you see on your plate during one of the tasting menu experiences is rarely what you taste in your mouth
whether that’s a panchino (or bao bun) filled with beluga caviar or a “gazpacho sandwich” that’s actually just sliced bread filled with tomato-flavored meringue and a refreshing gazpacho sorbet

FismulerEl Born
Between the fashionable location in El Borne

Fismuler kind of feels like a performance art studio that also happens to serve excellent food
but staple favorites include the dorada tartare with almonds and grapes
the truffled escalope with low-temperature egg yolk
and an ultra-gooey cheesecake that looks more like a wedge of ripe
melty camembert than a confection that came to life in an oven

many of the displays still look very dated

presided over the inauguration of the Rosario Endrinal Home
a center designed to provide care and support to women in situations of homelessness in the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
managed by the ASSÍS association in collaboration with the City Council
represents a milestone in the fight against female homelessness in the city
Hogar Rosario Endrinal arose in response to the growing concern to address the specific needs of homeless women
a sector of the population that faces particular challenges on their path to social reintegration
Aimed at single women and elderly women in long-term homelessness
the center offers a total of ten individual accommodations
thus guaranteeing privacy and autonomy for the residents
What makes this center unique is its approach based on the communal housing first methodology
an innovative proposal that seeks to provide housing immediately and without prerequisites
prioritizing access to stable housing as a starting point for rebuilding the lives of homeless people
Hogar Rosario Endrinal not only offers a roof over their heads
but also promotes the active participation of the residents in the management of their daily lives
thus fostering a sense of community and belonging
is no coincidence; it is a tribute to a woman who
lost her life in tragic circumstances while living on the street
The memory of her story reminds us of the urgency of addressing female homelessness and working towards a more just and inclusive society
The inauguration of the Rosario Endrinal Home represents a significant step in the municipal strategy to combat and prevent female homelessness
This new resource joins a series of existing initiatives
the La Violeta Residential Center and temporary housing for single-parent families
thus expanding the support network available for women in vulnerable situations
It is important to note that the Rosario Endrinal Home not only offers a place to sleep
but also provides a safe and welcoming environment where women can receive emotional
social and educational support to begin the process of recovery and reintegration
the possibility of bringing their pets with them reflects the center’s commitment to guaranteeing the integral well-being of the residents
The opening of the Rosario Endrinal Home is a hope that reminds us of the importance of working together to build a more inclusive and supportive society
The city's cyclists make a pilgrimage to this uptown café seemingly created with them in mind. Small but well-decorated, On y Va has a good vibe, good food, and good coffee. Plus they're part of On y Va Barcelona Tours and Bike Rentals
so they are really into organising rides as well
usually at weekends and weather permitting
there's a ride taking off from and finishing at the café
Il Giardinetto is frequented not only by those with great palates who know quality when they taste it
but also by romantics as well as those nostalgic for a Barcelona of days gone by
Recently the place has been slapped with a makeover to modern it up a bit to accompany the excellent work the kitchen staff has always done and continues to do
Chef Jesus leads the team with his Italian cuisine
and notable fresh pastas that are made by hand daily
a range of pleasing dishes created by young chef Sergio “Chiqui” Millet
One offering that’s not always on the menu (so do ask) is the paglia e fieno tagliolini al pomodoro
which many an Italian restaurant would love to be able to prepare and present with fanfare
We tried some of Chiqui’s creations in the bar
one of the star dishes: a type of round bread roll filled with ham or sausage and a free-range poached egg that does a magnificent job of topping off the dish
We then tried the parmesan rocks – two chunks of the king of Italian cheeses shared a plate with mortadella
We followed that with a delectable lentil salad
but it was the spicy tuna tartare that earned itself the most gushing compliments of the night
Two glasses of house red accompanied the light dinner
and three fruit skewers with warm chocolate sauce topped it all off
Our digestion was then aided by G&Ts and pisco sours
and you’ll always find Pere at the piano in the evenings
The 'petit' was taken out of El Petit Bangkok when it moved to this bigger space in 2012
It's grown in size but hasn't lost anything in the process
thanks to the honesty and skill of Dani and his team
It's not for nothing that big fans of Thai food consider this the best in Barcelona
It's always a great idea to start with spring rolls
whether you opt for the Thai chicken with veg
the prawn ones or the 'poh pia sod' – these last ones are made of rice pasta and filled with prawns
consistent and with a freshness that combines with the prudently spicy sauce to give your palate the gift of an almost sublime treat
The night we ate there we were thrilled with our spring rolls
though it was tough deciding between them and the tempting skewers with chicken marinated in tamarind and peanut sauce
The 'tom kha kai' (chicken coconut soup) with aromas of Thai herbs and chunks of chicken brought a smile to our faces
and something to stimulate the system before going to bed
There's a festival of choice for vegetarians too
From the vegetarian spring rolls to the skewers of fresh tofu with tamarind and peanut sauce to the Thai dumplings sutffed with wild mushrooms
chestnuts and veg with a fantastic flavour and mix of textures
You can combine what you most fancy of the meat options (chicken
sauteéd vegetables with ginger and shiitake
massaman (great with prawns) or yellow curry (try it with veg or duck)
The 'kao Suai' (perfumed Thai white rice) and the 'khao ob sabe Parodi' (sauteéd prawns
A pioneering project in the Spanish state and one of only a few in Europe
the new facility is based on Communal Housing First methodology
where all the homes in the same building have communal services
the people who live in the building are actively involved in its management and daily life
The Rosario Endrinal Home has 10 fully equipped individual rooms with their own kitchen
collective management and social and educational support
will be able to live there with their pets
The name of the centre was chosen in memory of and in tribute to the homeless woman Rosario Endrinal
who was murdered when she was set alight in an indoor cashpoint in the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
The new facility responds to the municipal strategy of preventing and combating homelessness among women and comes in addition to the residential facilities of La Llavor and La Violeta
the Ali Bei temporary accommodation for single-parent families and the Primary Reception Centre in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
In collaboration with the Support Network for the Homeless (XAPSLL)
Barcelona has a total of 2,913 residential places in shelters for the homeless
