The VAR Audio of the Penalty on Kylian Mbappé Sparks Many Comments | Real Madrid Confidencial FIRST TEAM Huge Mess with VAR: The Audio of the Penalty on Mbappé Is Very ControversialThe Conversation Among the Referees of Real Madrid-Valencia Is Now in the Spotlight06/04/2025 11:40:00h by Enrique Sanz
the controversy of the match between the white team and Valencia remains one of the main topics of discussion these days
One of the most highlighted events of that clash at Santiago Bernabéu is the penalty committed by César Tárrega on Kylian Mbappé
The white '9' fell inside the area and Cuadra Fernández had no doubt in pointing to the penalty spot for that body contact between both footballers
following the regulations set by RFEF and CTA in the implementation of video refereeing in our country
Far from confirming Cuadra Fernández's verdict
the person in charge of VAR requested the presence of the Balearic committee referee to review his decision
Kylian Mbappé and Cuadra Fernández Argue After the Penalty | Real Madrid ConfidencialFigueroa Vázquez called Cuadra Fernández to the monitor with words that have gone viral and draw attention
"I recommend you come to see the play so that it won't be a penalty," the VAR referee pointed out to his colleague
the on-field referee of the Real Madrid-Valencia match
Cuadra Fernández went to the screen to see different angles of the action between Kylian Mbappé and César Tárrega
Following that play through different angles
Cuadra Fernández ignored Figueroa Vázquez's suggestion: "There is the touch that unbalances Kylian in the ball dispute"
the action is constitutive of a penalty given a clear touch by César Tárrega on Kylian Mbappé in Valencia's area
"That player's touch is what knocks him down
there is a ball dispute because it's in the middle between the two players
The result of that action is widely known: the Balearic committee referee ratified his decision to award a penalty to Real Madrid
While it was a great opportunity to take the lead
ended that excellent chance with a highly criticized shot that only deepens the constant criticism received by the verdeamarelo striker since the 2025 soccer year began
His performance in the second half of the current season
who left a boo for the forward during his substitution
Kylian Mbappé and César Tárrega just before the penalty | Real Madrid ConfidencialFigueroa Vázquez called Cuadra Fernández with the intention of having him reconsider his decision upon reviewing the images
was not presented as an option for consideration by the on-field referee..
who ended up confirming his initial verdict after watching the action involving Kylian Mbappé and César Tárrega repeated
The VAR review of that decisive play in the match
had no desired effect for all Madridists given Vinícius Jr.'s miss
it reopens the debate about the first penalty taker at Real Madrid
a discussion that seemed closed quite some time ago

César Tárrega was one of the players talking to VCF Media after Valencia CF bested Real Sociedad at Mestalla

They give us that extra motivation and support that we need
because their support is very noticeable on the pitch
Here at Mestalla we have to be very strong
It's all about taking points here and making ourselves stronger with the support of the fans.”
At no time have we been under that pressure that can take you out of the game
because offensive ones are also celebrated
Why not celebrate those actions that also decide games?”
“The team's hard work allowed us to keep a clean sheet
“There is still the whole second half of the season to go
We know the team we have and our capabilities

Behind every football player there is a person with a family
with whom he shares his joys and finds support in difficult times
They are the ones who mark the path to follow and who often stay with them in the day to day training sessions and matches
"The first one I played football with was my grandfather Antonio
between two palm trees we made the goal and I would shoot at him"
At that moment it all began with Javi Guerra
who last Sunday played his first minutes in LaLiga with Valencia CF at Mestalla
A day he will remember with special emotion
although the night could not be rounded off with a victory
he was known as Guerra's grandfather" Guerra recalls
Antonio was unable to see Javi Guerra play at Mestalla this time
and it was not until the following day that he was able to congratulate him
"Now I can die peacefully," he told him with a smile before continuing his work in the kitchen
he always prepares Javi the meticulous diet that players in professional football have to follow
who at 19 years of age is still making strides at Valencia CF and at the Valencia CF Academy
but he was also decisive in the passion for football and Valencia CF of another young promise of the VCF Academy

He was part of a Valencianista peña in tribute to Antonio Puchades

Miguel's grandpa was in his heart and mind when he debuted with the first team last season in Copa del Rey match
He recently renewed his contract with Valencia CF and signed the documents just on the anniversary of his death
Simón Luca is a left back from Cantabria who joined VCF Mestalla this season
He fulfilled the dream of his grandfather Manolo without planning it
"My mother always told me that my grandfather was very much a Valencia CF fan
he had to go to Mestalla at least once every year
And she has always passed that on to me," says the player from Cicero
In honor of his grandfather Manolo's legacy
Simón was given a Valencia CF shirt as a child
He could not have imagined that years later he would arrive at the Valencia CF Academy and wear that shirt
The composition is actually over a century old…

it evokes a sense of nostalgia few other sounds can
But you might be surprised to hear of its origins
which date back long before even the invention of the mobile phone
The classic note run is actually taken from a piece of music called Gran Vals – or “Great Waltz” – by Spanish classical guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega
And you can see guitarist Alexandra Whittingham showcase the run and put it in context in the video below
“I won’t rest until this piece gets the recognition it deserves,” she says
A post shared by Alexandra Whittingham (@alexaguitarist)
Gran Vals was first included as a ringtone in a Nokia phone in 1994, under the name “Ringtone Type 7 ” in the Nokia 2110. In 1997, the tune was given the name “Grande Valse” – a nod to the original composition’s title.
But as it became so synonymous with Nokia itself, “Grande Valse” was renamed in 1998 to “Nokia Tune”, and thus became Nokia’s flagship ringtone.
Many versions of the classic Nokia ringtone have been created over the years, including the first polyphonic MIDI rendition by Ian Livingstone in 2001, a guitar-based version with the Nokia N78 in 2008 – which reflected the popularity of nu-folk music at the time – a slow piano version by Ryuichi Sakamoto for the Nokia 880, and a slow guitar version by Brian Eno for the Nokia 880 Sirocco Edition.
Of course, the popularity of Nokia mobile phones has declined in recent years to make way for the likes of the iPhone and Samsung models, but next time you hear that ever-rarer Nokia ringtone, spare a moment’s thought for the mastermind behind the piece, Francisco Tárrega.
The world’s leading authority and resource for all things guitar.

The Strad Issue: January 2011Description: The American violinist explores the rich seam of solo repertoireMusicians: Rachel Barton Pine (violin) Héctor Elizondo (narrator)Composer: Albéniz
As an impoverished student unable to afford a rehearsal pianist
Rachel Barton Pine began exploring the unaccompanied violin repertoire and her discoveries becoming a lifelong passion
For this collection she has selected 14 pieces with a Latin–American flavour
slipping in a rhythmically loose-limbed account of Ysaÿe’s Six Sonata by virtue of its dedication to Manuel Quiroga
Most are technical showpieces that display Barton Pine’s outstanding gifts: she safely negotiates the fiendish exercise of crossing strings at speed in Isaac Albéniz’s Asturias
and with impeccable tuning glides through Espejo’s pages of double-stopping in his Prélude ibérique
A whole range of dynamic shades is brought to Ruggiero Ricci’s arrangement of Tárrega’s Recuerdos de la Alhambra
and she adds her own challenge in a hair-raisingly intricate version of Piazzolla’s Tango Etude no.3
Passing pleasures come with gentle spiccato in José White’s Sixth Etude
and Barton Pine’s unfailing accuracy in the violin’s stratospheres with José Serebrier’s Aires de tango
The disc ends with Alan Ridout’s version of the children’s story Ferdinand the Bull
screen and TV actor Héctor Elizondo as narrator

Paganini abandoned the violin for three years to devote himself to the guitar. Weber played it and wrote songs with its accompaniment, as did Schubert
it was not until the twentieth century that major composers in any number began writing serious music for the instrument
And that change was largely due to the advocacy of one man
a Spanish musician whose artistry led to the present-day popularity of the classical guitar – and whose influence
is still felt by those who followed in his footsteps

he is based in Galicia from where he tours all over the world (as well as competing in amateur golf tournaments in Scotland and Spain)
He has recorded the complete works of Tárrega
as well as albums devoted to Torroba and Barrios
featuring music written by Latin American composers
The Italian guitar virtuoso was entirely self-taught, good enough to undertake a tour of Europe at the age of 19, landing up in Vienna in 1806 where he became associated with Hummel, Moscheles, and Diabelli. Beethoven wrote some guitar music especially for him
After an extraordinarily successful visit to London in 1823

He made his London debut at the Wigmore Hall in 2009 and has since been hailed as “the anointed successor to Julian Bream” and
after his chart-topping debut album Meditterráneo (The Guitar in the UK)
including The Beatles and new concertos by Joby Talbot and Howard Shore
Hand problems caused by over-work (he averaged over 120 concerts a year between 2010 and 2016) put a stop to his career for two years (2016-18)
These have been overcome and he has resumed his position as one of the best classical and most charismatic guitarists of the present day
Having made his debut in 1947 with the Orquestra Nacional in Madrid
the Spanish virtuoso launched an international career taking in the US
From 1961 he used a 10-string guitar of his own creation
The instrument made it possible to transcribe works originally written for the lute without having to transpose bass notes to the detriment and integrity of the music
and F# resulted in the first guitar with truly chromatic string resonance
giving the instrument a benefit similar to the piano’s sustain pedal mechanism
Yepes specialized in Spanish music from the 15th to 20th centuries

this celebrated Spanish virtuoso was born in Barcelona
He fled to Paris after the defeat of Bonapartist rule in Spain where he met Cherubini
and other composers who advised him to give concerts on the guitar
his fame as a virtuoso quickly spread throughout Europe – he lived in London from 1815
eventually settling in Paris – dubbed by the critic Fétis “the Beethoven of the guitar”
He wrote many works for his instrument (fantasies
and studies) many of which are still played
Barrios’s name is still revered in Latin America
he was thought by many to be superior to the Spaniard (who was certainly no composer compared to Barrios)
Barrios wrote over 300 works for the guitar
though his magnum opus is considered to be his 1921 Bach-inspired La Catedral
Barrios was a consummate virtuoso and among the very first guitarists ever to make recordings (1909-10)
all of which are available today on three CDs
Brilliant Classics have issued his complete guitar compositions on six CDs
Williams moved to London in 1952 where his English father
he attended summer courses with Segovia and made his official debut in 1958
won a Grammy for the Best Chamber Music Performance in 1973
Not content with just the classical repertoire
and also recorded with rock guitarist Pete Townsend of The Who
His most famous recording is of Cavatina by Stanley Myers (He Was Beautiful in the vocal version by Cleo Laine
accompanied by Williams) used as the theme tune for the Oscar-winning film The Deer Hunter (1978)
and Patrick Gowers are among those who have written music for him
who was in many ways like a latter-day English version of Segovia
a period instrumental ensemble that led to a great revival of interest in the music of the Tudor period
perhaps most significantly Britten’s Nocturnal written especially for him
He traveled widely and recorded prolifically (four Grammy Awards and two Edisons) – a 40 CD set was issued in 2013 including two DVDs about his life and career
Equally important was the guitar he had designed for him
resulting in “the English sound” of clarity and balance
as opposed to the then prevalent Spanish one with a “candle-flame treble” and “fruit-salad” bass
was a much revered and beloved figure of the British music scene for over half a century
Number One – not because he was the greatest technician (others have since surpassed even him in that regard) but because
he was one of the seminal musicians of the 20th century
Segovia’s name was synonymous with the instrument
he made his formal debut in 1909 and was still playing in the mid-1980s
It was he who was largely responsible for bringing the guitar back into the concert hall
making many important transcriptions for the instrument and commissioning many works from composers such as Ponce
He was named Marquis of Salobreña by King Juan Carlos in 1981
Listen to The Art of Segovia on Apple Music and Spotify
But honestly I think there are a couple more guys better than these
John Williams is a lot Bette than Julian Brean and is missing a lot importante names
I don’t like this lindo of list but I would say that Jonh Willians is the best
Segovia is the first because he did a lot for the clássicas guitar
I know that these kinds of lists cannot include everyone that is deemed somehow worthy
but to leave Christopher Parkening off this list is perplexing to me
To put Sharon Isbin above Xuefei Yang is absurd
And you forgot KyuHee Park from Korea who is by far the best player I have ever heard
Your list loses its credibility by leaving him off
Kazuhito Yamashita should definitely be on the list
I agree that historically great guitarists of bygone ears deserve their props
but to include Carulli and exclude Yamashita is unthinkable

Curtis Wooten with (from left) Henry Ah Funny
Coach Curtis Wooten will be banished to the stands even before the first buzzer
his Hastings Boys' High School basketballers have only just brushed their skills in the 3x3 format
it's costly and the senior A side will face big dogs St John's College (Hamilton) first up tomorrow
So why is Wooten leaving for Tauranga this afternoon to compete in the annual Basketball New Zealand Secondary Schools 3x3 National Championship
"It's a fairly new sport in New Zealand ..
but it's grown in popularity around the world," he says of the championship which has only run for five years
mindful youngsters could tap into it even internationally
A reason why HBHS shied from it before is because they compete in seven tourneys in a year so the costs add up at about $1500 a team
HBHS' venture may rub off on other schools
although Wooten stresses many non-powerhouse schools are competing
Wooten plans to take a senior A and senior development sides next year and their junior equivalents
But tomorrow he will have experienced players who benefited from some tips from Taylor Corp Hawks coach Zico Coronel last Monday night
"It was a joke but Zico said to me and a few boys
you get to carry the water bottles'," he said
revealing Hawks player Isaiah Jones-Mitchell backed it up with a player perspective two days later
"There are definitely some areas in New Zealand where 3 on 3 basketball is really big but Hawke's Bay isn't one of them."
He is disappointed Bay schools aren't warming to the format when last year was the best time to go
He suspects it has something to do with the province's isolation because other regions with more schools seem to be thriving
This year's nationals at ASB Arena have 105 teams from 47 schools
a 66 per cent leap from 63 teams from 31 schools last year
Some HBHS pupils had the money but they're disappointed because Wooten didn't think they are "the right fit"
The Saturday closure comes amid a proposal to shut Napier Library for at least two years
How do you know when a person owns a Nokia mobile phone
It’s when you hear the distinctive startup and ring tone that has been included in the Finnish mobile giant’s handsets since 1994
While Nokia is currently hosting a competition to find a fresh new Nokia tune
we were curious about the background of the original
was originally called “Grande Valse” on Nokia phones
the same name given to a composition by Frederic Chopin
But Nokia’s theme has always been credited to a Spanish guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega and his song from 1902
Well the truth is Tárrega was Nokia’s inspiration but he didn’t compose the entire piece without inspiration of his own
it was a 3 second snippet from Chopin’s Grande Valse
European tech superstars: Hear from Datasnipper
investors and innovation champions at TNW Conference on June 19 & 20
Now this is the original by Frederic Chopin which includes the snippet that Tárrega used and built out to create his own Gran Valse
you’ll have to listen carefully to catch it
The phrase makes an appearance a number of times but we’ve highlighted this point at 2:55
have a listen (and replay if you don’t catch it the first time)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLQ-6_OIds4&feature=player_detailpage#t=169s
This is Nokia’s startup theme tune and I’ve included this first because it’s easier to spot the specific notes taken from Chopin’s Grande Valse:
Now this is Gran Valse by Francisco Tárrega
Tárrega added a clearly important element to the tune
the repetitive beginning melody before the notes heard above in Chopin’s piece.:
this is the startup tone that we have come to love today
Nokia ended up using Tárrega’s version for its main ringtone but its startup tone is very similar to Chopin’s
The 2:55 mark for the piano piece is the clearer of the two that we’ve highlighted
but even so it sounds markedly different from the guitar piece
The difference comes down to the two being played on different instruments
The guitar is being played in a minor chord
whereas the piano piece is played naturally
Combine those two facts and you’ll have difficulty hearing the reference
Musician Thomas Dolby, who co-invented the ringtone synthesizer embedded in Nokia phones, told the BBC how Nokia came to choose the tone:
One night a marketing guy stuck his head around the door of the engineering department and thought he heard somebody playing tunes with a phone
the engineer said he was playing with the radio to get the most annoying frequency
The marketing guy asked if he could make it play some tunes
so he knocked up half a dozen and they said they sounded great
It turned out the lawyers then stepped in and said you can’t ship just a pop tune
there’s royalties to pay and clearances to get – unless the composer has been dead for 75 years or more
So they asked if any of the tunes were made by any dead composers
The one that became famous as the Nokia theme was actually composed over 150 years ago by an obscure waltz composer
and has since become the most successful jingle in history
the tune was heard worldwide an estimated 1.8 billion times per day
about 20,000 times per second – perhaps more so today
Nokia is looking for members of the public to help compose the 2011 version of its ringtone
remixing the tone so that it has a fresh new sound for when it launches its new Windows Phone handsets
The winner stands to win $10,000 and the right to say they helped shape the future of the world’s most distinctive jingle

guitar – Naxos 8.554431 (65 minutes)
the ‘Laureate Series’ is probably one of the most enterprising
Its aim is to focus on young but very talented musicians
who since winning the 1996 Francisco Tarrega Competition has taken the musical world by storm
The young Zanon already showed signs of great promise when still a student
He made his orchestral debut two years later in São Paulo
and this experience was followed by further success in competitions in Canada
He attended Julian Bream’s master classes
and also performed at Wigmore Hall in 1995
Recent engagements have taken him to an acclaimed 50-concert tour of North America
The programme on this disc is a mixed bag
Zanon incorporates works by five composers
with Spain’s Francisco Tarrega (1825-1909) featuring prominently with nine pieces
BWV 1003 is given a marvellous transcription by the same soloist
Johann Kaspar Mertz (Hungary 1806-1856) and Manuel Ponce (Mexico
1886-1948) are represented by one piece each
this issue is a feast of colour and rhythm
but Zanon’s amazing skills are also a cause of admiration
and all guitar enthusiasts should find much to soothe their tastes and curiosities
7; Tapiola; Pohjola’s Daughter; The Maiden with the Rose
BBC Symphony Orchestra and Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Serge Koussevitsky – Naxos 8.110168 (59 minutes)
This disc in the ‘Great Conductors’ series focuses on arguably one of the greatest exponents of this art of the 20th century
Serge Koussevitsky was a Russian émigré
who during his brilliant career forged a special relationship with Jean Sibelius
Having left his homeland after the 1917 revolution
like so many contemporary Russian musicians
In 1924 he succeeded Pierre Monteux aschief conductor of the Boston Symphony
and it was also inthe States that the works of Sibelius featured consistently in Koussevitsky’s programmes
The recordings on this issue date from 1933 to 1940
but Sibelius’s Seventh has never sounded so vibrant and intense
Critics comment that the finale has rarely been matched let alone surpassed
and the Boston recording of Tapiola is also imbued with an elemental power and unitythat tap the same source of the symphony
Pohjola’s Daughter is also given a searing reading and Sibelius’s future abstract style
although brought to the fore with great clarity
is never allowed to diminish the descriptive colours of the story
The two short pieces by Sibelius and Grieg are dispatched with a lightness of touch that has a wonderful mood of relaxation
Although restoration engineer Mark Obert-Thorn has worked wonders with these takes
this should not deter collectors from admiring a great master at work
Rozsa: Variations on a Hungarian Peasant Song
7; North Hungarian Peasant Songs and Dances
piano – Naxos 8.570190 (60 minutes)
One of the pre-eminent composers of Hollywood’s Golden Age
Miklos Rozsa (1907-1995) was also a writer of works for the concert hall and chamber pieces
he demonstrated a talent for music at a very young age
by the age of seven he was already playing Mozart in public
An important influence on the young Rozsa was the peasant music he learnt at his family’s summer estate north of Budapest
Despite his father’s strong opposition
he eventually allowed his son to enter the Leipzig Conservatory from where he graduated in 1928
Rozsa’s career as a composer was now assured
particularly his opulent and monumental film scores
The works on this CD span the entire length of his glittering career
and all four reveal a composer of stature and imagination
The Variations and Peasant Songs and Dances both date from 1929
and are two of just three works that employ actual folk melodies
the piece has also many happy and sunlit moments
The 1986 Violin Sonata was composed during a very hard time
when illness forced Rozsa to concentrate on music for single instruments
challenging and dissonant language reflects all the physical suffering that the composer was going through at the time
that should more than enhance Rozsa’s reputation in the field of classical repertoire
