Dead Outlaw is the darkly hilarious and wildly inventive musical about the bizarre true story of outlaw-turned-corpse-turned-celebrity Elmer McCurdy. As Elmer’s body finds even more outlandish adventures in death than it could have ever hoped for in life, the show explores fame, failure, and the meaning – or, utter meaninglessness – of legacy. Dying is no reason to stop living life to its fullest.

Our online store (in Spanish) sells artisan souvenirs

“huge plates” and “fair prices” were the most repeated terms

cockroaches and plucked domestic pigeons ready to be served as lacquered duck
There were also rusty frying pans and a makeshift extractor fan made from a plastic cup
While the authorities are accusing the owner of a crime against public health and another against fauna and flora
there is another side to the reviews of the place on Google that now take on an almost prophetic aspect
Some customers had already recorded what others overlooked between steaming plates and soy sauce: “Bad
The place is dirty and messy and the food is unpalatable
We will never come back,” warned one user
Another customer recounted an even less glamorous experience: “Dirty floor

Pyrotechnics once again play a key role in Madrid's Chinese New Year festivities
the fireworks show will be full of references to the zodiac sign of the snake
Fireworks are believed to have been discovered in the Han Dynasty (more than 2,000 years ago)
They began to be used for recreational and spiritual purposes until they became fully integrated into Chinese culture
Pradolongo Park is hosting a show full of light and color to attract good luck and ward off evil spirits in 2025: an ideal event to open the door to a new beginning among friends and family
The display of lights in the air will take place on Rafaela Ybarra Avenue on Saturday
to 8:15 p.m.) and will be completely free of charge
As this year is the year of the Wood Snake
symbol of the continuous resurrection of nature
the fireworks show will be full of references to this zodiacal sign
As the main avenue of the park and its central hill are expecting hundreds of visitors on the day of the fireworks
it is recommended to choose one of these privileged corners to see the show with more space:
The reflection of the lights on the water always has a special effect
You can get to Avenida Rafaela Ybarra by public transport: by suburban train
line 5 to the Doce de Octubre stop (nine minutes from the park)
getting off at Hospital 12 de Octubre (line 3)
which is a 10-minute walk away (one kilometer)
The New Year of the Snake will fill the capital with activities starting next week: there will be gastronomic events to celebrate the Spring Festival with a good menu
parades inspired by traditional Chinese parades and even dance and handicraft workshops
A great opportunity to immerse yourself in the oriental customs that will transform Madrid for two weeks
A new quarterly publication called U Magazine
founded by Ypsilanti resident Christian Usera
aims to spotlight visual art by people of color (POC) and other marginalized groups
with 60% of the magazine dedicated to those demographics
"We're attempting to shine a light on people of color and other under-represented groups in light of not just what has been going on in the art world in terms of under-representation of POC and marginalized groups but in terms of the racial vitriol that is currently on display in this country," Usera says
I guess part of me wants to make the world a little better off
a little more fair and understanding."
Usera is of Irish and Puerto Rican descent
and says he brings the colors and textures of his Puerto Rican heritage into his own art
He first began to include his heritage in his art at the urging of a professor and mentor he studied under at New York University
including an independently-published illustrated short story and exhibiting at Marassa 10
an event at NYU celebrating African and Caribbean culture
He also developed his artistic and writing ability while interning at several art galleries
Usera, who has lived in Ypsilanti since 2015, was laid off from his job in 2020. During his period of unemployment, he explored the idea of re-launching a friend's now-defunct art magazine, I Want You
in which Usera's work had been featured
Partly as a reference to his own last name and partly in honor of his friend's magazine
Usera named his new publication U Magazine and began reaching out to artists he admired
seeking to publish their work in his magazine
The first issue of the magazine was released late in summer 2020
featuring Usera's work and the work of four other artists: Andrew Da Silva of Quebec; Erin Asmussen of Pierre
S.D.; Lika Sharashidze of Tbilisi in the country of Georgia; and Angel Aviles of New York City
The next issue will come out sometime in the next few months
Usera is defining "marginalized groups" fairly broadly
Sharashidze is not a person of color but is a young woman from the second-poorest nation in Europe
Each future issue will display three images from each of five artists
and more of each artist's work will be featured on the U Magazine website
The magazine will include a short essay by Usera
For more information about the magazine, visit https://www.uartmag.com

Usera will concentrate the parade and other activities on January 20
21 and 22 to welcome the Year of the Rabbit
although the big celebrations will take place in Usera on January 21 and 22
will be extended until the 25th of this month
The poster is the work of illustrator Juan Carlos Paz (also known as Bakea)
The image shows the city of Madrid and a rabbit waving
The illustrator himself has referred to the animal that pays tribute to the year that gives entry: “people who have the rabbit as a horoscope are prudent
Madrid, for yet another year, joins in the celebrations that have as their epicenter the district of Usera (an area that – with some controversy – the City Council wants to recognize as the Spanish Chinatown)
The parade will be held on January 22 at 12 noon and will feature people dressed in costumes brought from China
it will go through the Usera neighborhood from Marcelo Usera Street
at its confluence with Dolores Barranco Street
Among the celebrations of the Chinese New Year 2023 are:
THE capital of Spain will soon have its very own official Chinatown
The Madrid City Council released details of its project on Tuesday
which is set to make the city’s southern Usera district a tourist destination in its own right and solidify the neighborhood’s Chinese identity in a €9 million
located just south of the Manzanares River
has long been the city’s unofficial Chinatown
The diverse neighborhood of 142,000 is home to a quarter of Madrid’s roughly 35,000 Chinese residents
who represent the fifth largest foreign population
Chinese immigration to Usera began in the 1970s
a visitor walking through its streets will hear a disorienting mix of Chinese and Spanish
restaurants and street signs written first in Mandarin
The project will include the addition of hundreds of benches
the replacement of asphalt with green space
The majority of the project’s developments will take place along a 1.7-kilometre stretch between Plaza del Hidrógeno and the Madrid Rio urban park
affecting more than 60,000 square-metres in Usera
The plans call for more pedestrian connectivity
and the neighbourhood will see a 30% reduction in asphalt surfaces
Construction for the second phase is scheduled to wrap up in the second half of 2025
with the first phase scheduled to begin this spring
The plans from mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida’s city council seek to solidify the area’s cultural identity beyond the dozens of Chinese restaurants and shops that line its streets.
One of its main goals is to attract tourism — which is currently concentrated around the city’s central districts of Chueca
Lavapies and La Latina — and boost commerce
The city also seeks to improve Usera’s public spaces and pedestrian accessibility
with the related goal of promoting sustainability and biodiversity
The plans include rain gardens — low-elevation areas filled with vegetation meant to capture runoff during rainstorms — as well as the planting of more than 200 trees, which is an especially welcome detail after the city’s controversial move to cut down hundreds of trees to make way for its line 11 metro expansion.
According to the City Council and reports from Spanish media, the neighborhood’s Chinese residents have been involved in the planning process through Usera’s plenary.

Mobile operators need to find ways of boosting revenues and sustaining or growing profits by selling applications or other value-added products and services that can make up for the growing deficit between profit margins on data and those from traditional voice calls
This is the view of Fernando Usera
His comments follow publication of the global consulting company’s Consumer Electronics and Services Usage Report for 2012
For the first time in the report’s four year history
which was collected from a survey of 1 000 urban SA consumers
operators already need to find solutions to the dual problems of increasing demand for data combined with declining voice revenue
He adds the problem will begin to affect developing market operators soon
“Very few operators have managed to compensate with data revenue alone,” Usera says
so they need to think about content and services rather than data itself as the margins are slim
He says they need to reposition themselves as “supermarkets of services”
If operators do manage to develop and sell their own services or aggregate third-party offerings
they will have to increase volumes significantly to maintain historical margins
operators sold devices with voice as the service and that this was a case of selling “one service to millions”
He says operators now need to sell a wider range of services to a wider range of clients
or what he calls a “thousands-to-thousands” approach
operators need to change the way salespeople are trained
Usera says the demand for greater segmentation means the salesforce must understand a more diverse array of products and a wider range of clients
the bulk of app downloads by consumers are from device manufacturers’ app stores (23%)
followed by device software providers such as Google and Microsoft (22%)
Operators themselves only account for 8% of downloads
and this is the area on which they most need to focus
“Once you get the client downloading from you
it’s possible to offer them other services
“You need to get the client into the operator’s ecosystem.”
One of the potential downsides of operators failing to keep profitability up is that they’ll be less inclined
to investment in new technology and maintain existing equipment
He warns that although the decline in voice revenue is being felt far less in developing markets than mature ones for now
it is something developing market operators will have to face down the line
they have the advantage of time and can learn from how mature markets respond to the challenge
Developing markets also have the advantage of younger populations that embrace innovation more rapidly
meaning it is sometimes possible for emerging markets to leapfrog mature ones and even sidestep some of the challenges facing them if there is sufficient and rapid innovation
Usera says attitudes towards emerging markets from global consumer electronics companies are changing
with developing markets being seen as the greatest potential growth areas compared to half a decade ago when they were often ignored
Usera says this can be seen in the fact that most models of devices available in developed markets now appear in emerging ones simultaneously or shortly thereafter
The best advice Usera says he can offer mobile operators is to focus on transforming their businesses to offer services and value-added products
improving customer experience and creating long-term and loyal customer relationships
