UAE data center firm Edgnex is to develop a facility in Spain
The Damac-owned company this week announced its expansion into Europe with the acquisition of land in Madrid
The site has been acquired from real estate private equity manager ActivumSG and will host a 40MW data center
the 236,805 sq ft (22,000 sqm) facility is due to go live in 2026
said: “We plan on investing €400 million ($435.8m) in our first 40MW investment in the Spanish data center space
and commitment to renewable energy make it an ideal hub for expanding our high-performance infrastructure.”
European real estate private equity manager ActivumSG made the sale on behalf of ActivumSG Fund VII
The company said it acquired the 240,000 sq ft (22,295 sqm) site in 2022 and secured power rights ahead of the acquisition
added: “This site is one of the few prime locations in Madrid with secured
fully redundant power available within two years from two independent substations
ensuring rapid deployment in a market facing significant demand-supply challenges.”
Edgnex is also developing a data center in Turkey in partnership with Vodafone
Edgnex is also planning a data center in Amman, Jordan. Damac and Edgnex last year signed an agreement to build a data center and cable landing station at the new King Abdullah Economic City outside Jeddah in Saudi
The company said further developments in Spain are likely in the future
Sajwani added: “As we continue our global expansion
robust solutions that serve the needs of hyperscalers and enterprise clients within a rapid timeframe
Alongside looking at additional investments in Madrid
we will look for opportunities in strategic locations such as Barcelona
The transaction is ActivumSG’s second powered land sale. In July 2024, ActivumSG sold a 190,000 sq ft (17,650 sqm) site in Madrid to data center developer and operator Pure DC for €11 million ($11.9m)
The company said at the time it saw “further opportunity” in acquiring sites that could be prepared for data center development and sold to operators
said: “We pride ourselves on a flexible investment mandate and opportunity-led strategy
This sale is a testament to ActivumSG’s ability to leverage its deep local relationships
While powered land investments can be technically complex
our talented team in Spain has now completed two of these transactions with outstanding results.”

The ashen colors and strange geometry appear otherworldly
But his unusual landscapes are aerial views of mining
agriculture and construction sites in central Spain
and his photo book Black Maps offers a haunting compilation of aerial photos of everything from pit mines to sprawling suburbs
"There’s something both terrifying and beautiful" about such places he says
The photographer made The Fall while on a separate assignment for art book publisher Ivorypress in Spain
the highly alkaline soil gives plowed fields a shiny
olive trees dot a landscape of neat sandy groves
neat foundations dug into the pale gray land are all that remain of abandoned real estate developments
Maisel shot through the open door of a helicopter

"You have to be thinking and feeling and seeing and also on top of the technical aspects of what you need to do to make these pictures work.”
He preferred to hold his medium format Hasselbad rather than mount it remotely
as it allowed greater control and let him react more quickly and instinctively to the scenes unfolding below
“Even though you’re in a helicopter that can sort of hover in a stationary way

I feel like it’s maybe a little more of an aesthetic and poetic response to these places," he says
"If anything the message is: The world is a mesmerizingly beautiful place

It still has this incredible beauty to it."

— The chief of the Walworth Fire Department has been arrested
accused of trying to entice a minor over social media
Canandaigua Police allege 57-year-old Karel Ambroz
II used social media to try to meet a 14-year-old for sexual activity
and was charged with attempted criminal sex act
The Walworth Fire Department removed Ambroz as chief Thursday night, according to 13WHAM's news partner, The Times of Wayne County
the fire district said it was "saddened" by news of the arrest
"Both the District and the Fire Department emphatically denounce [Ambroz's] alleged actions and conclude that this behavior is not in compliance with the values of either organization," the statement read
the Board of Commissioners has accepted Mr
Ambroz's resignation as chief and placed him on non-punitive administrative leave from the Walworth Fire Department."
The district says Ambroz will remain on leave - barring him from activities including training and social functions - until legal proceedings have concluded
A disciplinary hearing will be conducted by the district at that time
Ambroz was listed on the fire department’s website as being a member since Feb
13WHAM asked Ambroz to comment on the charges
His arrest came hours before a meeting of the Walworth Town Board - of which Ambroz was a member
Town Supervisor Susie Jacobs said Ambroz had submitted his resignation
in part: "As a mother I am appalled by the news and wholly disgusted
My initial response was one of shock and repulsion to learn that a fellow Board member would act in such a manner
Ambroz's resignation was an easy decision.”
The arrest follows several similar cases in which a detective poses as a minor online

Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told the ceremony in the Vicalvaro district of Madrid that “we are proud of Ferenc Puskas as the most well-known Hungarian who had a remarkable career in a historic period full of difficulties and challenges”
The street sign was unveiled in the company of Gyorgy Szollosi

Szijjarto noted that Puskas was still remembered around the world despite having died 15 years ago
He said Puskas was a link between Hungary and Spain and he expressed thanks to the Spanish people
to Real Madrid and the city of Madrid for nurturing his memory
said Puskas had been an essential figure in the history of Real Madrid and the legendary story of the club could not be understood without him
Puskas was a member of an “unforgettable generation that contributed to Real Madrid growing into a myth”
Puskas went to Spain after Hungary’s failed 1956 anti-Soviet uprising and he played in Real Madrid between 1958 and 1966

(ANS - Madrid) – It's around 4:00 pm
The scene is the usual setting at this time of the year: a child slips into the neighborhood pool – in this case
notices the child no longer moves in the water and dives in without hesitation to save the boy
Alejandro had in fact noticed something strange when the child first entered the pool
"I realized that he had been in the water for more than 5 seconds
his eyes wide and his mouth full of foam," Alejandro told Telemadrid
The young lifeguard remains calm and practices Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on the child
It's now 4:20 pm and at the 112 Emergency Center doctors have already received warning that there is a child who seems to have drowned
When the ambulance of the Medical Emergency Service of Madrid (SUMMA) arrives at the pool
it practically has nothing to do: the child is alive, has come out of cardiorespiratory arrest thanks to Alejandro's actions
the medical staff decide to stabilize the child and take him to the hospital
The protagonist of this venture was Alejandro Cuenca
who is currently attending the Higher Vocational Training Course - Social-Sports Teaching and Animation - at the Salesian Institute "Domingo Savio" in Madrid
a center he has been attending since Basic Vocational Training
Recalling what he did in an interview with Telemadrid
Alejandro talked about the importance of training in these cases
his wish is not to have to behave like a hero again: "It's the first time in my life and I hope it's the last time
According to the Emergency Service of the Community of Madrid
"Alejandro's intervention was providential because he managed to reverse the cardio-circulatory arrest thanks to his speed and his professionalism."

BACOLOD City – The National Electrification Administration (NEA) does not recognize the alleged takeover at the board and management of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) yesterday
“NEA recognizes the legitimacy of the duly elected Ceneco board of directors led by President Jojit Yap,” said Atty
president of the member-consumer-owners (MCO) of Ceneco
along with several members went to the main building of Ceneco to supposedly take over the board of directors and general manager positions in the cooperative
“The MCOs should not be unduly alarmed by the reported actions of an illegitimate group claiming to be the representatives of the MCOs,” said Alvaro
He also assured the public that Ceneco’s operations remained normal and unimpeded
“The members of the Ceneco board are either elected or appointed but must comply with the requirements set forth by law and the pertinent NEA regulations (Republic Act 10531 and its implementing rules and regulations)
There are no shortcuts to membership in the board,” stressed Alvaro
Ceneco acting general manager Arnel Lapore the said group attempted to enter the board room after claiming that they replaced the board of directors and general manager as interim officials
the group of Pineda was composed only of about 150 members
and they were only recognized by NEA as MCOs
and even as MCOs they do not represent the general membership of the cooperative
the duly elected members of the board of directors are the ones recognized by NEA because thousands of MCOs voted for them through a regular election
the Council of Managers of Ceneco denounced Pineda’s issuance of a memorandum addressed to all department managers/officers of Ceneco relative to the so called interim board and creation of a management committee
Such move is usurpation of authority and a blatant disrespect to the legitimate and incumbent board of directors duly elected by member-consumer-owners
as well as the NEA-appointed acting general manager
president of the Council of Managers.
“We collectively stand in support and recognition of the incumbent board of directors under the leadership of Yap and Lapore,” Arimas stressed
“My appointment has not been revoked as acting general manager of Ceneco.”
He assured the public that he already coordinated with the Bacolod City Police Office to secure the office of Ceneco as well as the conduct of the plebiscite which starts today
The plebiscite is a requirement for the ratification of the joint venture agreement (JVA) between Ceneco and Primelectric Primelectric Holdings
/ Negros Electric Power Corporation (NEPC) to improve power distribution service in the cooperative’s franchise areas
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez is asking the people of Bacolod to vote “yes” in favor of the JVA
The JVA will become effective once majority (50 percent plus one) of Ceneco’s MCOs will ratify it
there were less than 200,000 consumer-members in the cities of Bacolod
and the towns of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental after the cooperative cleansed its list of members of good standing./PN
