The poster can be seen on hundreds of billboards and billboards in almost fifty municipalities throughout Spain The Catholic Association of Propagandists has launched a new campaign this year with the slogan “Are women born or made?” The campaign starts with a question to invite reflection on a highly sensitive issue in our society and which fully compromises the dignity of women philosophical and even economic implications The campaign contrasts and underlines the dilemma put forward in 1949 by the historic feminist figure Simone de Beauvoir – “One is not born a woman: one becomes one” – to emphasise the fact that although the feelings and decisions of the individual can influence their life the nature of reality cannot be altered at the whim of the subject philosophical fashions or activist praxis claim so it seeks to put on the table the importance of giving voice to experts who can enrich the whole of the Spanish population with their formed vision while alluding to the more than worrying censorship attempts of those who seek to impose a single vision on the reality of female nature and on the occasion of the claims around 8-M the Catholic Association of Propagandists addresses the question of the nature of women from the anthropological premises that are legitimately proposed by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church always for the good of the person and society but uses the black and purple tones typical of the feminist movement and can be seen on hundreds of bus shelters and billboards in 44 municipalities throughout Spain such as Seville the municipalities throughout Spain where the campaign can be seen are: Santander Villanueva del Pardillo and Villaviciosa de Odón The Catholic Association of Propagandists (ACdP) is a group of lay faithful united in their vocation to evangelize public life the members of the ACdP have actively participated in society working to make the message of Jesus Christ and the Church present in all areas Reflection by Bishop Enrique Díaz: I will praise you Paris Marks 400th Anniversary of the Congregation of the Mission Reflection by Bishop Enrique Díaz: The Lord’s mercy is eternal Tweets by Pontifex Every year thousands arrive from South America and Africa including many young asylum seekers who find hope and opportunity in the game Many of them have joined football clubs formed in Spain’s towns and cities with the aim of giving migrants a chance to flourish in their new homes FC Darna“I crossed the sea two years ago with a dream: to play for Barcelona,” says Zakaria Ezzouyn. When this didn’t work out, after some research she found Odour Collect a crowdsourced map that allows users to enter a geolocalized timestamp of bad smells in their neighborhood After noise, odor nuisances are the second cause of environmental complaints. Odor regulations vary among countries and there’s little legislation about how to manage smells. For instance, in Spain some municipalities regulate odors, but others do not. In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency does not regulate odor as a pollutant, so states and local jurisdictions are in charge of the issue D-NOSES launched several pilots in Europe — in Spain and Portugal — and two outside the continent in Uganda and in Chile “Citizen science promotes transparency between all the actors,” said Nora Salas Seoane Social Sciences Researcher at Fundación Ibercivis It’s easy to measure smells coming right out of a factory exhaust pipe or a sewer It’s not so easy to understand how those smells will disperse into a neighborhood Trees block smells or car traffic muddles them; changing weather conditions affect how odors move through a city “One of the objectives is demonstrating that there is a problem,” says Salas Seoane “Data can inform improvements in industrial operations.” Citizen science also helps add rigor to observations. “If you’re from Barcelona you know that in the Forum area there’s a problem with odor,” says Salas Seoane. The Forum Area, in the north-east end of Barcelona, was renovated in 2004 ahead of the “Forum of the Cultures.” Several waste treatment facilities are based in the historically disinvested area or biogas smells are dispersed in the area The area started to be mockingly called by locals ‘Ferum’: ‘bad smell’ in Catalan Researchers used different strategies to engage the citizens and participating in community events,” says Salas Seoane They trained citizens on how to use Odour Collect and organized sensory walks through the Forum Area where locals identified the different smells The pilot prompted conversations and collaboration on the D-NOSES with the Barcelona environmental authority — the public administration in charge of the city’s environmental planning and that manages most of the emitting activities of the area Using the Odour Collect app (Photo courtesy D-NOSES) Other pilots have similarly engaged the community believing in citizen science was a matter of faith “it was the priest himself who volunteered and spoke to the community,” said Maria Alonso business development executive at Mapping for Change citizens started reporting the odor emissions of a local refinery locals were invited to report odors on their walks on a path along the Rio Tinto to identify the state of the river there are odor complaints on Odour Collect’s map on all seven continents who reported rotting waste at the O’Higgins research base in Antarctica may have just been yanking everyone’s chain.) “Odor pollution is happening everywhere,” says Alonso There are smell mapping projects in the U.S. as well. The Create Lab of Carnegie University has created Smell Pittsburgh a crowdsourced mobile app with a map that keeps track of smell and pollutant emissions and reports them to the Allegheny County Health Department The stakes here are not just bad smells: Allegheny County received an ‘F’ from the American Lung Association in its 2021 State of the Air report Marta has been able to get almost a hundred of her neighbors in Villanueva del Pardillo on board with her plan to record odor nuisances on the Odour Collect map Looking for more tools to escalate their complaints Marta has been in touch with the developers of the app and asked for the analytics to have precise data on how many people were actually registering the smells and what kind of odor nuisances they were perceiving “My goal is to send something in writing to the mayor of the city,” says Marta a hundred neighbors have reported this smell during this period,’ so that the authorities know that this is not something that we make up Lucrezia Lozza is a freelance journalist and documentary maker specializing in social and environmental issues She has worked as a staff journalist for Reuters and reported for international media such as The Independent Tags: mappingpittsburghpollutionair qualitybarcelonacitizen science View all → and support the spread of solutions that liberate cities Become a free or sustaining member to continue reading Or you can join for free—because we never want to create a financial barrier to information about fostering greater equity U.S. donations are tax-deductible minus the value of thank-you gifts. Restaurante Richard on Calle Andarax in the Cruz del Humilladero area of Malaga city Sources said the man started to choke after putting a piece of meat in his mouth an autopsy will confirm the exact cause of death who was among the diners in the restaurant when the incident occurred rushed to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre on the man but he died at the scene National Police officers have taken over the investigation and said everything pointed to choking on food as the cause of the local man's death a 78-year-old man died when he choked while having dinner in a restaurant in the Madrid town of Villanueva del Pardillo The first step is to pay careful attention to the victim's symptoms in order to be able to react in time (every second counts) If someone holds their hands to their neck turns a bluish colour or spits out of their mouth In such an event you must act very quickly According to Spain's Civil Protection group's first aid guide the ideal thing to do is for one of those people to call 112 as quickly as possible while another person attends to the victim If they cannot or have no strength and are conscious stand beside the victim and slightly behind them hold their chest with one hand and lean forward checking after each blow to see if the victim has coughed up whatever they were choking on the Heimlich manoeuvre should be performed To perform this the person providing assistance should stand behind the victim and embrace him or her placing the fist of one hand with the thumb outwards at the midpoint between the navel and the pit of the stomach He or she then proceeds to tilt the victim forward and perform five inward and upward thrusts with sufficient force to lift the victim off the floor they should be alternated - five back blows and five abdominal thrusts - until the unblocking is achieved or until the victim falls unconscious A timely reaction on the part of the first responders can prevent the situation from worsening and the victim suffering cardiorespiratory arrest such as giving food or water to the affected person as both actions can make the situation worse rather than better in the event that it is not known how to act during the call to the emergency service a doctor can give instructions via the telephone so the affected person can be correctly assisted until an ambulance crew arrives at the scene Comentar es una
