the AI revolution is reshaping entire industries and markets in a frightening way
Companies are creating the type of technology that science fiction writers have long predicted could overpower humanity

Others are more worried about their jobs being rendered obsolete
as AI systems demonstrate clear abilities to perform human tasks with extreme precision
Companies have quickly moved to eliminate positions that center around tasks such as data entry and customer service
One company that is helping usher in the next phase of AI is Microsoft (MSFT)
But the tech leader recently released a controversial feature sparking strong concern among its user base
which seems extremely worried about the consequences
Microsoft and CEO Satya Nadella have made a controversial decision to push forward with a new AI tool that has consumers worried.
Microsoft is bringing back a feature that didn’t succeedOver the past few years
Microsoft has worked hard to remain competitive in the AI market as startups such as OpenAI and Anthropic have made significant advances
Its Copilot AI chatbot remains a popular choice among users
although it has not caught up with ChatGPT
Recently, however, Microsoft has made multiple AI-related announcements that many consumers likely find frightening. Last week, it released a detailed report describing a future in which most teams of office workers are composed of AI agents managed by humans
the company announced plans to bring back an AI tool that generated a lot of controversy the last time they tried to roll it out
Recall is a Windows 11 feature that can take a screenshot of everything a user does before indexing and storing it in a matter of seconds
Concerns about security and privacy violations quickly rose
prompting the company to push back the launch
Microsoft is pushing forward with its plans to bring Recall to its Copilot+ PCs
Microsoft attempted to frame Recall as a powerful new feature that can save users time by allowing them to search more efficiently
“You are always in control of what snapshots are saved and can pause saving snapshots at any time,” it promises users
this isn’t necessarily going to appease people’s anxiety
“Even if User A never opts in to Recall
they have no control over the setting on the machines of Users B through Z,” Ars Technica reports
“That means anything User A sends them will be screenshotted
processed with optical character recognition and Copilot AI
and then stored in an indexed database on the other users’ devices.”
The outlet adds that this could allow the AI tool to collect any sensitive material from the user in question
and messages sent through encrypted services.
Cyber expert Kevin Beaumont recently confirmed that Recall can capture messages sent through encrypted apps such as WhatsApp and Signal
“I would recommend that if you’re talking to somebody about something sensitive who is using a Windows PC
that in the future you check if they have Recall enabled first,” he advises
The second Recall rollout might be any betterBeaumont’s point highlights an important underlying truth regarding Recall
It isn’t just PC users who may be at risk from this technology
it is anyone who communicates with them whose private messages may be stored
if Microsoft moves forward with introducing Recall
these popular features could be compromised
Many social media users are voicing their displeasure at Microsoft’s decision
this would instantly void that device as trash material for me,” one Reddit user states
“Why would anyone let this literal spyware run on their device is beyond me.”
Another adds that they can’t see who might benefit from this
aside from “data brokers and cyber criminals,” who could certainly reap the benefits if they find a way to hack into the system. Other Reddit users have professed plans to switch over to using an Apple computer
citing the Recall news as the reason why.

not just with the lack of action in his undisputed super middleweight title fight with Canelo Alvarez
Scull was the IBF titleholder going into his clash with Alvarez this past Saturday
Many didn’t know what to expect from the matchup other than a likely win for Alvarez
but fans were left feeling their low expectations weren’t even met
Scull lacked significant action for 12 rounds
and Alvarez won the fight via unanimous decision
While the bout itself left a lot to be desired
it was Scull’s comments after the fight that left fans scratching their heads

After the heavily criticized matchup with Canelo Alvarez, William Scull was interviewed by FightHubTV. Scull baffled fans by expressing his belief that he should’ve had his hand raised (via MMAMania.com)
I totally felt like I had won,” Scull told FightHubTV in Spanish
Scull then reacted to the criticism by claiming that Alvarez did even less in the fight
the comments were that I was moving and throwing a few counters
The comments rubbed a slew of fans the wrong way. X user “@yoindxgo” made it clear that Scull’s claim doesn’t sit well with them
“Scull thought he was winning after all he did was run.”
Another X user, “@Memo_Rias” was baffled that Scull felt he deserved to be awarded the victory
“Scull dancing all over the ring and thinking he is winning.”
Scull concluded the Riyadh Season portion of boxing this weekend
Many felt underwhelmed by Friday’s “Fatal Fury” event
which featured Rolly Romero scoring a massive upset win over Ryan Garcia
There is one more boxing event before the weekend is out
and it’s Naoya Inoue taking on Ramon Cardenas in a fight that many are hoping can salvage the weekend

Dujeux spoke to the media at his press conference
sharing his thoughts on a result that brings Angers one step closer to staying in France’s top flight
I often talk about this team’s moral values
and today we showed a lot of determination

North Carolina and formerly South Windsor and Windsor Locks
Connecticut passed from this world into the life God has prepared for her early Saturday,December 28
“Emo” was born February 9
Tennessee and in the face of her childhood was an incredible Mom to her five boys in Windsor Locks
Mom loved unconditionally and although the boys tested her as she raised them
she never gave up on them and always spoke highly of them until her passing
Mom did many things as she raised her boys
She volunteered in local concession stands including Little League following Richard all the way to the Regionals
Mom would drive us to all our music lessons
people still remember her as that spirited five-foot two-inch school bus driver that drove for years
she made it to all the events that grandkids celebrate as they grow
All the grandkids loved her and she was the last living grandparent
Moving to North Carolina they enjoyed 20 years together
Mom loved life with Don and she was so happy
would develop new social circles wherever she went
She was best with a coffee in hand and was always looking for that next exchange
Mom had many close friends that would spend time with her or she would travel to them
Some of her closest friends, Regina Frankin
Laura Hebert and Heidi Grosclaude were in her circles of visitation
After Don passed and with Mom becoming more challenged living alone
she returned to Connecticutand eventually found a new home where she could entertain
The Marlborough Health & Rehabilitation Center adored Mom and provided unique care in the final stages of her life and for that
Michael and Donna Breton of Coventry, Richard and Laura Breton of Enfield and Joel and JoAnne Breton of Windsor Locks all in Connecticut; Jeffrey predeceased Mom sadly a few years ago
Grandma Mo to 14 grandchildren and great grandmother to 15

Reactions are pouring in about the recent leak surrounding James Gunn’s Superman movie — and they aren’t good
But are fans taking it out of context before even seeing the film
The leak is now said to be legit as YouTuber Nerdrotic posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the info is true
Superman is frustrated by social media backlash
with the hashtag #SuperShit being mentioned several times as really getting under his skin
hundreds of mutant monkeys are shown typing furiously at keyboards
flooding social media with hate against Superman.”
Update: Additional details have come out, including that James Gunn mocks the Snyder Cut and the plot is about fake news
Why the reactions haven’t been good is because if sounds like James Gunn will be sending “The Message” — just as he did with Creature Commandos
Regardless of what side of the political spectrum you’re on
I think we can all agree that when the agenda comes ahead of story
RELATED:Superman Day Trailer Now In Doubt Hints James Gunn
The leak makes it sound like James Gunn has a vendetta
trying to settle a score from seven years ago when he was fired by Disney/Marvel
It seems like he’s using Superman as a personal weapon to get back at conservatives
Gunn did something similar in Creature Commandos when he included an Incel army
which made zero sense in the context of the story
He just put them in to stick it to a certain fan base
Now with Superman — a property far more well-known than a DC animated show no one watched — Gunn seems to be doubling down with another agenda-driven plot that makes zero sense
Why would Lex Luthor need a mutant army of monkey trolls
Zack Snyder has been accused of using bots — and now Snyder cultists are the ones up in arms over Gunn taking over DC)

Universal made an update on April 29.
the general public can purchase tickets to visit Epic Universe and preview the groundbreaking experience through May 19," Universal Orlando Resort said in a statement

"This is unfair," writes X user GriNga in the comments of the announcement
"You promised and offered a preview release for annual passholders and hotel guests
but now you're allowing everyone to buy tickets
We understand it's a preview and that some attractions may not be available

T-Mobile’s Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee will increase from $3.49 to $3.99 for voice lines and from $1.40 to $1.60 for data-only lines
Some T-Mobile customers took to Reddit to express frustration over the upcoming price hike

T-Mobile was recently hit with a lawsuit over the feeIn December of last year, T-Mobile was hit with a class-action lawsuit over its Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee
Customers in the lawsuit flagged that the fee had increased by 28% over the last eight years
They also alleged that the fee’s description is “deceptive” and used to charge customers “illegal fees.”
T-Mobile includes the RPTR Fee in the section of their customers' monthly bill that bundles this fee with ‘Government Taxes and Fees’ to disguise it as a required government charge

Customers also alleged that this fee is not mentioned in their T-Mobile Subscriber Agreement
“Customers can find out what fees they are being charged only by looking at their bill after they’ve signed up for an account,” reads the lawsuit
“T-Mobile should have accurately stated the true monthly prices for its post-paid wireless plans in its price representations and advertising.”
The customers in the lawsuit allege that T-Mobile's method of enforcing this fee violates the Communications Act
They are seeking an unknown amount of damages

ESCANABA — A planned renovation of the east-end of Ludington Street slated to take place this summer drew outcry this week from some residents who were concerned about the impact on businesses
summer events and cultural programs in the city
“This all started as a sewer project,” City Manager Jim McNeil told the crowd that gathered at Escanaba City Hall Wednesday to hear about the project
“It was the Ludington lift station here and replacement of sewer
We’ve been able to bring in some other funds to do street restoration in it’s entirety.”
the meeting featured a panel of individuals related to the project
including Escanaba Water and Wastewater Superintendent Jeff Lampi
Assistant Water and Wastewater Superintendent Mike Humbert; C2AE Project Manager Darren Pionk; C2AE Design Engineer Stacy Eagle; and Jim Perry
The Ludington Street project is broken into two parts
each of which will be completed in three phases over the next two years
The first part of all work will be upgrades to the storm sewer system
which is being upgraded to avoid rain water and snow melt from ending up in the sanitary sewer system
This is both to come into better compliance with environmental rules and to avoid over-stressing the wastewater treatment plant with additional water
While the road is torn up to reach the sewer
the city will be making any needed repairs to other underground infrastructure and replacing lead service lines and water mains as needed
the city will begin the process of restoring the street
On the east end of Ludington Street this will include a complete redesign of the roadway
and “bump outs,” areas where sidewalks jut into the roadway to increase pedestrian visibility for motorists and reduce the distance a pedestrian has to travel to cross the street
The current phases of the project are expected to take about two years to complete
The first phase will include the area of Ludington Street that starts at roughly the lift station and runs to 4th Street
That phase is expected to begin on or before May 1 and be substantially completed by July 30
will begin at 4th Street and run until 6th Street
Because of the way contractors work on projects like the Ludington Street renovation
the two phases will likely overlap with Phase 2 set to be completed by Oct
Phase 3 will begin in 2026 and will continue the work from 6th Street to 9th Street
areas of the street that are under construction will be closed to motorists
The closures — and the imprecise timelines — led some in attendance to be upset about how the lack of traffic and on-street parking could impact their business this summer and next
“I have had weddings booked far and beyond your dates that you put forward,” said Tyler DuBord
who spoke as the general manager of the House of Ludington and not as a member of the Escanaba City Council
“That is hundreds of people for weddings this summer
I can contact them and tell them that there’s no parking for 200 guests
and I could lose out of that revenue.”
were advised that parking would need to be moved to side streets or a block off during the construction work
Foot traffic should not be majorly affected
and the construction crews will be in contact with business owners to ensure that entrances and exits of buildings are still accessible
Another concern was how the street closures would impact events
such as the Krusin’ Klassics Car Club Fun Run
This year marks the last time the parade will be held
but the closure at the east end of Ludington Street will likely impact the system the club has used to line up the hundreds of vehicles that participate in the event
An answer for how the car club could reroute its parade lineup was not immediately given Wednesday
but McNeil indicated he would be in contact with the club to arrange for an alternative
The bulk of the parade is still expected to take place on Ludington Street
Also of concern was the city’s Planet Walk
a scale replica of the solar system that pedestrians can visit as they make their way down the road
the model was updated with new placards last year
but we don’t want to screw it up,” said Dan Young of the Delta Astronomical Society
Young asked to be alerted when the construction was going to take place so that the society could remove the placards
He also warned that the model of the sun would be more complex to remove and asked the city to be careful when removing the posts so everything could be reinstalled
Young was told the city was already aware that the model solar system would need extra care in its removal but that it was not possible to know a more specific timeline of the project until construction began
Wednesday’s meeting was held immediately prior to a separate meeting on the city’s lead service line replacement projects
Those meetings are currently being held on the first Wednesday of every month
City Manger Jim McNeil advised the crowd that additional meetings about the Ludington Street project may be held in conjunction with the lead service line meetings in the future to continue the dialogue with the city

Luis Enrique's side have won 23 and drawn five of their 28 league matches so far this season
Manager Luis Enrique says Paris St-Germain are "motivated to try to finish the season unbeaten" after clinching a fourth straight Ligue 1 title
His team needed only a draw at home to Angers to claim an unassailable lead over second-placed Monaco
But teenage winger Desire Doue's 55th-minute volley from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's cross secured all three points at the Parc des Princes against his hometown club
If they avoid defeat in their remaining six matches
PSG would become only the seventh side from Europe's top five leagues to go an entire league season unbeaten - emulating Bayer Leverkusen in 2024

Luis Enrique's side are closing in on Nantes' Ligue 1 record of 32 unbeaten games from the start of the 1994-95 season – but the Spaniard is determined to go the distance
"Nobody has done that in France before

"That would help us in the Champions League and the Coupe de France

The French side face Aston Villa for a place in the Champions League semi-finals after overcoming Liverpool in the last 16

Goncalo Ramos and Vitinha both went close as PSG dominated the first half against Angers
before Doue's first-time finish clinched their 11th title in the past 13 seasons – and 13th top-flight crown overall
I'm very happy," captain Marquinhos told beIN Sports

In times like these, people often try to find stability in the things they trust, particularly as economic conditions grow increasingly frightening. And when experts are throwing around terms like “recession” and “bear market,” it can be difficult not to be concerned
Bad news has been piling up lately and last week
A popular app upon which millions of individual consumers and small businesses depend has shut down
People have embraced making digital payments but now one of the industry's most popular apps is shutting down
Users of the app aren’t happyOver the past few years
more and more people have opted to start exchanging money through convenient transfer apps
Venmo and Cash App have garnered significant popularity with their trendy appeal to young users
another app has come to dominate the market
Anyone who has ever transferred money between banks or credit unions in recent years likely did so with the help of Zelle
the digital payment network has become the trusted app for people seeking to exchange money quickly and safely with minimal hassle
Zelle ended money transfer services in its standalone app
According to a statement issued by the company
Zelle’s app will now function as a resource to provide information to consumers on digital payment fraud and similar scams
It’s important to note that users will still be able to use Zelle to transfer funds through their bank’s app, so long as it is part of the Zelle network. This large group includes many popular banks, including Bank of America (BAC) , Chase, and Wells Fargo, (WFC) which suggests that many Zelle users will still have access
the Zelle patrons whose banks don’t belong to that network aren’t happy about this.
One user on Reddit recently posted that Zelle no longer worked with Discover Bank
Another pointed to the company’s owners as being part of the problem
“Seeing that Zelle is owned by literally the largest banks in the country, (Bank of America, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase (JPM)
All they want is more of our hard-earned money by charging as many fees as possible.”
The founder of the Reddit forum r/betterment highlighted the trend that is taking shape in the digital payments space
then Zelle...it is getting harder and harder to find ways to transfer money to friends and family without paying huge fees.”
Why did the Zelle app shut down?Given Zelle’s popularity, many people are likely wondering why the platform’s owners decided to shut down the app. In an October 2024 press release
the company announced that “consumers and small businesses moved nearly half a trillion dollars on Zelle” during the first half of the year alone
It seems the company took a look at its data and assessed the most efficient way to move forward
they don’t seem to like using the standalone app
“The peer-to-peer payment system says less than two percent of transactions were being made through these apps by the end of last year
so it didn't make sense to keep them going.”
most of Zelle’s users will be able to continue sending money through Zelle on their mobile banking app of choice
some might not have even noticed the app had ended digital payment services if the story hadn’t become headline news
While not all banks are part of Zelle’s network
it is likely that the company will work to expand its network in the coming year to accommodate the customers who can’t currently use it
such as the Reddit user who banks with Discovery.
US President Donald Trump’s call for free passage of American ships through the Suez Canal has triggered widespread condemnation in Egypt
and citizens have denounced his remarks as legally groundless and a serious threat to the international order
that US military and commercial vessels should be allowed to travel through both the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal free of charge
He claimed both routes would “not exist” without the United States and said he had asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio to immediately “take care of
“Trump’s proposals about international waterways constitute a serious threat to international peace
professor of international law at Cairo University
Salama highlighted the 1888 Constantinople Convention
which established the fundamental principles governing international dealings with the Suez Canal
preserving the right of all countries to benefit from this global waterway
He said Trump’s “legally baseless” claims
which ignore the sovereignty of coastal states over their territorial waters and straits
could lead to interference in countries’ internal affairs
a clear violation of the general principle of non-interference of contemporary international law
Warning against disruption to international trade and harm to the global economy by US interference
the Egyptian legal expert urged the international community to stand firm in defending international laws and conventions and take serious steps to safeguard the legal bases for navigation
and African Affairs Committee of the Egyptian Senate
affirmed on Monday that “only Egypt is responsible for securing and protecting the Suez Canal,” and the revenues generated from canal transit fees are a legitimate sovereign resource backing the national economy and serving Egyptian citizens
and shall not be impaired under any pretext or justification
The Egyptian senator termed Trump’s call as “unjustified interference in the affairs of a sovereign state
and is inconsistent with the principle of mutual respect between states.”
Soliman said that the Suez Canal and the Egyptian economy have been harmed by the US as its unfair policies on the Palestinian issue fueled the region’s instability and failed to stop the Houthis in Yemen
Egypt’s revenues from the Suez Canal fell by more than 60 percent year-on-year in 2024 amid the Red Sea tensions
according to the Suez Canal Authority (SCA)
president of Egypt’s socialist Tagammu Party
said in a statement on Sunday that “(Trump’s) remarks not only represent provocative rhetoric but also reveal a hateful colonial mentality.”
The party leader explained that canal fees are fair and are determined according to international standards
adding that the United States cannot impose exceptional conditions
“Trump’s call can only be viewed as economic colonialism in a new garment,” he added
which includes approximately 42 political parties
criticizing it as “ignoring historical facts.”
The controversy has ignited strong reactions on Egyptian social media
particularly regarding Trump’s suggestion that the United States deserves credit for the canal’s existence
“Our grandfathers built the Suez Canal with their blood when America was engulfed in civil war
We will continue the course of our ancestors
and Trump will not impose his conditions on us,” read one widely shared post
has long been the linchpin of global trade
Despite its complex colonial history under French and British control
the canal has remained a powerful symbol of national pride for Egyptians
particularly since its nationalization in 1956 by President Gamal Abdel Nasser
a pivotal moment in Egypt’s modern history

Protesters will be rallying and cruising in downtown Chatham on Friday evening in opposition to the proposed CK community hub
Demonstration organizer Christie Coatsworth said the public can't afford the facility with economic uncertainty on the way due to U.S
The new hub proposed to go into the former Sears building in downtown Chatham has been a source of contention and public grievance for more than three years
the public has overwhelmingly opposed these changes
We have been baffled when the majority of Council has voted otherwise," she said
prepared to fix what we have in the Civic Centre that we own."
Coatsworth noted those in opposition are frustrated because she claims their survey responses
and letters to councillors have not been heard
The municipality wants to move the Civic Centre
A costing report on the hub was released to the media on Wednesday suggesting the hub will cost much less than renovating the current Civic Centre, library, and museum.
Councillor Brock McGregor is in favour of the hub, saying it makes fiscal sense.
"Based on the analysis that's there from a financial and community perspective, it makes the most sense to address the updates for three community assets," said McGregor.
Calling it a sales job, Councillor Michael Bondy said he has an issue with the hub, claiming there is very little public support for the project and adding that the numbers don't make sense to him.
"That's where I have a bit of difficulty with this thing. There's no buy-in on the public's end at all. Like $108 [million] come on. That just makes the hub seem like a bargain at $53 [million] and that's $53 [million], I will question that because that number has been the same for two years," Bondy noted.
Councillor Alysson Storey has concerns with the process because the costing wasn't presented to Council before the report went to the media.
"None of this was discussed or reviewed with the library board. We weren't even told about this event on Wednesday and the CEO of the library was under the assumption, as we all were, that this was going to be coming to us on May 12," Storey said.
Councillor Brock McGregor disagrees with Storey, noting that council received the information package on Tuesday, the day before the media event and it was discussed at council on Monday, consistent with council's request to have the report released well in advance of the May 12 meeting.
Storey is upset, saying the municipality cannot afford this project right now with so many other priorities on the radar.
"To think that we have the type of resources to write a blank cheque from the taxpayers to pay for an unnecessary and unwanted move to the old Sears building, because let's not forget the public is overwhelmingly against this move," added Storey.
Coatsworth cited concerns about homelessness increasing in Chatham-Kent and wait lists for social housing are getting longer.
The protest cruise will wind its way from the Civic Centre down King Street beginning at 5 p.m. Friday with messages on the bumpers displaying "Put the Brakes on the Hub."
She said the vehicles won't disrupt other drivers downtown by driving slow and promised the cruise won't last long.
Council is set to vote on the project on May 12, 2025.
