The new school year has begun at the Shne-Or Institutions in Aubervilliers
marking a special milestone for both the students and their families
“It’s incredibly moving to see so many children
many of whom are setting foot in a Jewish school for the first time
walking hand-in-hand with their proud and joyful parents,” said Rebbetzin Chaya Nisilevitch
“These families are embarking on a journey filled with hope
and the promise of a meaningful Jewish education.”
The Shneor Institutions hold a deep significance within the Paris Jewish community
largely due to the work of Rabbi Eliezer Nisilevitch
Rebbetzin Nisilevitch’s late husband
who served as the Rebbe’s emissary and the head of these institutions
spent over 4 decades establishing and nurturing these children and adults with unwavering dedication
His life’s work was driven by a profound commitment to saving Jewish children and guiding them toward an education rooted in Torah values and spiritual purity
Rebbetzin Chaya Nisilevitch now leads the campaign “Every Jewish Child in a Jewish School,” inspired by her late husband’s mission to ensure that Jewish children receive a sacred and wholesome education
hundreds—if not thousands—of children were brought into the fold of Jewish education
The campaign continues to resonate strongly with Jewish families
as they strive to uphold and strengthen these values for future generations until we reach our ultimate goal

miraculously survived a 43-meter fall from his 16th-floor apartment with only a scratch and no fractures
in a high-rise apartment complex in Aubervilliers
a 4-year-old boy diagnosed with autism was in his room when his father
he hurried to check on his son and calm him down
but as he tried to enter Enzo’s room
and the parents suspect that the boy accidentally locked himself inside which caused him to panic
By the time Ji managed to break down the door
Enzo’s crying had stopped and the room seemed empty
the man horrifyingly realized that he was too late
After rushing onto the balcony and seeing Enzo lying motionless on the dirt-covered roof of a ground-level pharmacy, Ji rushed out of the apartment building and climbed the pharmacy building to reach the roof
he was stunned to see Enzo move on his own
with only a small scratch on his leg to show for his 43-meter fall
“Enzo was able to move,” Ji told French newspaper Le Parisien
“He was conscious and I didn’t see any external blood
He just had a small scratch on his leg.”
Enzo’s parents were still worried about internal injuries
The boy was admitted to Necker Hospital where he remained under observation for seven days
doctors performed a series of tests to ensure that he was really as healthy as he appeared
Apart from some minor bleeding in his kidneys and lungs that surgeons swiftly resolved
Enzo was dismissed from the hospital and resumed his normal life as if nothing had happened
He was even able to go back to nursery school during the last week of June
How Enzo was able to not just survive the fall from his family’s 16th-floor apartment
but do so with no serious injuries or head trauma
Some say it was the dirt-covered roof of the pharmacy that somewhat cushioned his landing
but doctors are convinced that it had more to do with his light
“They (children) have a more favorable coefficient of elasticity of bones and joints,” Dr

In the shadow of the warehouses of Cifa loaded with Chinese ideograms in Aubervilliers
a hypothesis formulated by all has just been validated
transforming this city famous for its textile wholesalers into an eternal obscure hub of money laundering
At the heart of this wholesalers' triangle
becomes the place where the threads of a complex web are woven
In the sights of justice for over five years
have once again laid hands on a criminal network of unexpected scale
a similar case had been unveiled within this same center
involving a network that allegedly laundered several tens of millions in a year
the Paris Criminal Court is preparing to examine in detail the activities of Cifa
21 individuals including Chinese-origin wholesalers
find themselves in the dock and will have to answer to charges of organized money laundering and criminal association
highlights the complex mechanisms that allegedly transformed Cifa into an illicit financial center
The judicial intrigue unveils a sophisticated system
linked to the trafficking of cannabis resin imported from Morocco
a complex web of international ramifications is emerging
channel a "massive flow of cash" to the International Wholesale Trade Center France-Asia
Illicit funds are then integrated into the legal textile trade operated by wholesalers
The money laundering process involves transforming cash into bank transfers to Asian
These transfers are made alongside legitimate commercial activities
thus masking the criminal origin of the funds
An inventive facet of the modus operandi lies in using laundered money to purchase textiles from Chinese wholesalers
These goods are then resold to other wholesalers in Morocco
creating a facade of legitimate transactions that allow traffickers to recover clean funds while continuing the laundering process
The latter facilitates transactions where funds are converted and routed between Moroccan dirhams and euros
associated with production factories in China
play a crucial role in this international compensation phase
The network exploits loopholes in customs procedures by engaging in import-export frauds
Under-declared or undeclared containers allow for the introduction of goods at values much lower than their actual worth
Lists of goods on instant messaging platforms
are used to coordinate movements while minimizing paper trails
the network maintains its high level of complexity by regularly changing managers and corporate structures
making it difficult to trace transactions and hold individuals accountable
Companies in Cifa thus become dynamic actors
appearing and disappearing rapidly to clean accounts and evade investigations
But it's not just a story of organized crime and judicial trial
these cases have managed to captivate pop culture
The city of Aubervilliers unveils itself in all its complexity
revealing a dark side that defies expectations and fuels imaginations

the ‘conservatoire d’aubervilliers‘ is a multidisciplinary cultural space that has been built at the foot of a thirty year old apartment black
adjacent to a swimming pool and opposite a local theater
FCLP architectes (francois chochon & laurent pierre) wanted to create a dialogue between the new and old architecture of the french town
housing both the regional conservatory for dance and music (CRR) and the multidisciplinary cultural space (ECT)
the firm has realized a building that is based on a very straightforward idea: not to construct something too high
so as to not overbear the local theater; or cast a permanent shadow on the roads surrounding the site
view of the ECT from rue fermin gémierimage © augusto da silva
the ECT is comprised of simple programs: a foyer
the latter is surrounded by three levels of galleries which project a warm presence throughout the performance space
with the integration of moorings in the construction of the overhead catwalks improving working conditions and increasing flexibility
which is further explored through retractable seating that allows for a number of configurations–it has the capacity to accommodate 146 people seated
complementing this adaptable layout is the installation of classic curtains along the side and back of the stage that help control acoustic quality
with the assistance of reversible panels fitted on split hinges
the concrete massing of the ECT is lightened by extensive glazingimage © augusto da silva
entrance lobby of the ECTimage © augusto da silva
interior of the conservatoryimage © nicolas borel
the conservatory has an entrance that allows light to flood into its interior
the building regulations are not confined to the 25 meter height maximum applicable to other areas of the site
so a vertical development has been realized to accommodate all aspects of the performing arts programs
a shard-shaped hallway sits between the two main programs acting as a central hub with the auditorium
music and dance classes of the school found off of it
the conservatory also sees the installation of a flexible auditorium
panels are fitted at the sides and back of the stage to a mobile ceiling
that allows operators to adjust the platform to provide intimacy between the audience and the performers
view of the central shard-shaped hub between the ECT and CRRimage © nicolas borel
the breakdown of the conservatory’s programmes sees teaching facilities situated on the top floors
music theory classes are found between the lower and upper spaces
close to the administrative areas and offices
FCLP have opted for an economic architectural approach that is based on utility
as evidenced through the window sizes that have been determined based on the structure’s required levels of insulation
the new space not only adds cultural life to aubervillier
but also respects the town’s historical presence
a rooftop rock garden is open to students for relaxing
while special attention has been paid to the fifth façade
ensuring that views for the residents of the adjacent residential complex on rue gémier are not spoiled
FCLP architectes have designed a structure that is grounded in its context

IN SHORT: Several Facebook posts claim there’s news about some prominent person that has “shocked all South Africans”
But the posts link to scammy websites that have nothing with the celebrities and their “tragic end” or “secret”
The various versions of the scam use photos of prominent South Africans
with false clickbait headlines suggesting they have met a “tragic end” or have had a “secret” about them revealed – sometimes both
Die geheim van die groot leier is uiteindelik geopenbaar!”
This translates to: “The news this morning shocked all South Africans
The great leader’s secret has finally been revealed.”
A variation on this says, in Afrikaans, that Malema has met a “tragic end”
Sy geheim is uiteindelik geopenbaar.” (“Shock
Yet another version shows cricketer AB de Villiers, suggesting he’s in trouble with the law: “Die tragiese einde van AUberVilliers
Vanoggend het die nuus alle Suid-Afrikaners geskok!
Aanklagte teen AUberVilliers bevestig!”
This translates as: “The tragic end of AUberVilliers
This morning the news shocked all South Africans
Facebook users have complained about this version, with one posting on a cricket page: “These scammers and Fake News distributors just never Gives up.”
the URLs of legitimate South African news sites
But when you click on the “Learn More” button
Get a weekly dose of facts delivered straight to your inbox
All the posts link to e-commerce sites, most of which sell either clothing and accessories or, oddly enough, children’s books
Most of the URLs are dodgy and seem unrelated to the products – such as startcapitalstructure.com and startriskdiversificationlearn.com
Some of the links are now broken, but several of the suspicious sites are still live. Only one version leads to a legitimate ecommerce site
The almost identical wording used in the scam’s different versions is a pretty clear indication that its sensational headlines are false
There have been no recent reports that a major “secret” about Malema has “finally been revealed” or that he has met a “tragic end”
either would have made front-page headlines
Similarly, neither Shuttleworth nor Thusi have had a “tragic end”. And De Villiers is not facing any charges

which is aimed at taking pressure off central Paris trains
Grimshaw’s appointment was announced as part of a package of awards for station design on the 75km line
with Bjarke Ingel’s BIG Architecture also appointed to work with Paris firm Silvio d’Ascia Architecture on the ‘emblematic’ Pont-de-Bondy station
said: ‘All lines have now entered phase project management and all 68 stations are being designed.’
Line 15 is intended to be a high-capacity underground rail route, enabling travel between the suburbs of Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis
Project funding of €3.5 billion was approved by the Supervisory Board of Greater Paris in November 2015
the line is expected to carry between 340,000 and 470,000 passengers

which links artists and residents of Greater Paris
To celebrate Easter, Le Point Fort is once again bringing families together , with events open to all. Find out more about the program
France — A man clutches a bag filled with cigarettes
hawking his illicit merchandise outside a kebab shop on a nondescript street in the center of Aubervilliers
a town on the outskirts of Paris — “Marlboro
veiled women and youths in their teens or early twenties
The young men congregate at intersections or walk in packs
Almost all are dressed in the latest sportswear; designer trainers are ubiquitous
The famous ring road that circles the French capital — aptly named le périphérique
or the “periphery” — functions like the ancient borders of The Pale
the government-controlled section of land England carved out in Ireland in the late Middle Ages
that lie just “beyond the pale” of the périphérique are cut off from metropolitan Paris
the city’s elegant Art Deco architecture has been replaced with identikit high rises
the streets are filled with stalls selling everything from shoes to towels for a few euros
has a depressed economy and a majority immigrant and predominantly Muslim population
More than a quarter of its inhabitants are from non-EU countries — mostly from the Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa
They promise things and they don’t deliver
Let’s vote for Le Pen and see what happens.” — Aubervilliers resident
In late 2005, Aubervilliers was one of the sites of mass demonstrations among banlieue residents against the French state. Sparked by the death of two young boys hiding from police in Clichy-sous-Bois, the protests quickly spread across neighboring towns. France declared a state of national emergency as fires raged
and public buildings and businesses were defaced during the weeks-long riots
The rioters were largely French-born young Muslims
generally the children of North African immigrants
who face bleak job prospects and feel alienated from French society
Christened an “intifada” by some
the riots gave succor to France’s far-right National Front party
declared they vindicated his long-standing anti-immigration and anti-Muslim statements
a series of terrorist attacks — most notably the mass killing of concert-goers at the Bataclan theatre in Paris in November 2015 that marked the worst attack on French soil since World War II — has strained relations between France’s Muslim community and wider French society further
The only beneficiary has been the country’s far-right party
which has capitalized on fear and mistrust
National Front leader Marine Le Pen, daughter of Jean-Marie and currently on trial on charges of hate speech for comparing Muslims praying in the streets to the Nazi occupation of France
is expected to come in first or second in the first round of the French elections scheduled in April
Le Pen even has a chance of following in the tycoon’s footsteps and clinching the presidency
One would think that the country’s five million Muslims would be unanimous in opposing her; but to many residents of the banlieues
Le Pen is simply another politician — no better or worse than any other candidate
Three young men lean against a railing at the road corner
Let’s vote for Le Pen and see what happens
For citizens of France who live as outsiders
the system is beyond repair — so why not Le Pen
He was unconcerned by the Le Pen family’s polemical comments about people like him
Le Pen may not be “pro-Muslim” but “she won’t be able to do anything,” he says
“When it’s Ramadan [the annual Muslim month of fasting that commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad] the French economy slows
And you can see it: during that month the streets are empty.”
Despite the terror attacks and the National Front’s resurgence
life has not become harder for Muslims over the past few years
we have no problems — the Christians are our brothers.” He pauses
“With the Jews … things are little more complicated.”
What’s clear is the French state is against Muslims
including a European plot to create a “new Eldorado with Israel as its capital.”

she won’t be able to do anything too bad.”
“People just don’t understand Islam,” he adds
Islam is so simple and we have many intellectuals who can explain it properly
Real Muslims must speak on behalf of Muslims.”
Samba is equally strident about debunking the type of conspiracy theories that are common among young men in Aubervilliers
the enforced secularism that lies at the heart of French government
“It just has to be implemented equally; right now it singles out Islam a lot,” he said
The prevailing consensus of ambivalence — and even guarded optimism — toward the National Front among the community its leader most openly despises would shock most pollsters
I don’t defend Islam and all Muslim people on principle,” he says
But the problem is people see that and say it’s all Muslims.”
The neighboring banlieue of Pantin is a short walk away
It’s one of the most densely populated municipalities in Europe and also boasts a high Muslim population

Advertising at a bus stop urges residents to vote in the upcoming presidential elections: “The right to vote: a superpower,” it reads

Le Pen’s political platform does not appear to elicit great concern from him either
“And that is that 30 percent of French people agree with her
As long as she remains within the limits of the law
Most people on the left secretly agree with her
has become harder for French Muslims in recent years
“Islam is now blamed for all that is wrong,” he says
“Many of the people who carry out these atrocities are not real Muslims
and that just means that I follow the teachings of the Prophet
It’s like being Christian and being a Jesuit.”

“Many of these things should be about personal choice,” he adds
“If a 15-year old girl wants to wear a miniskirt
So why can’t a 15-year old girl wear a hijab
And politicians won’t change anything anyway.”
It is perhaps not surprising the banlieues contain a wide range of European Islam
Some young French-born Muslims disaffected with life in France are most receptive to misleading information they find on the internet; others
less political understanding of their faith
But the prevailing consensus of ambivalence — and even guarded optimism — toward the National Front among the community its leader most openly despises would shock most pollsters
voters are electing populists to “drain the swamp” and punish the “elites.” In the Parisian banlieues
the prevailing attitude is that it hardly matters which politician is elected
because they’re convinced it won’t make any difference to their lives
