ANDY CARROLL has sent his cult status with new club Bordeaux soaring
The ex-England striker plays for less than his rent - but you would have put your house on him hitting the winner against Avranches
The Newcastle legend
did just that - to make it five goals in three games for the fallen French giants
who play in the FOURTH TIER following a double relegation over the summer
This time the former Liverpool star controlled with his first touch and lashed into the far corner with his second
Bordeaux remain in the lower reaches of National 2 - Group B
That's after financial problems forced them to turn part-time at the end of last season and drop two divisions
The ex-West Ham and Reading man has revealed he rejected more lucrative offers
He told RMC Sport: "To be honest
it even costs me money to have gone to play for the Girondins
"But I play football and I'm simply happy to play football."
And after seeing his eager poaching against Avranches
supporters shared their love for the 6ft 4ins targetman
One wrote: "It's better to play for Passion He'll be a legend if he takes them back to Ligue 1."
A second posted: "What he is doing is for pure football."
Other verdicts on Carroll's latest display included: "He still got it Top player " and "Wow congratulations to him great job"
And one fan said: "That's incredible. Andy Carroll is on fire at Bordeaux
Another raved: "Fact that he has sacrificed to play for the club & delivering."
with little more than two months until his second Christmas in France

Green Berets assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) conducted static line and free-fall parachute drops on a drop zone in Normandy
The Air Force’s 352nd Special Operations Wing and 86th Airlift Wing provided three MC-130J Commando II aircraft for the drop
some with the exact same gear their forefathers used on D-Day
“Overall it was a great jump. It was smooth and went as planned,” said a Green Berets from the 10th SFG in a statement to DVIDS. “It’s an outstanding experience to be able to honor the paratroopers who jumped into France during World War II.”
The 10th SFG was the first Special Forces Group to be activated in 1952
Its area of operations includes Europe and North Africa
It has a battalion forward-deployed to Germany
who is the senior non-commissioned officer of the French airborne section of the French Military Academy
said: “We’re here to facilitate the exercise
and work in accordance with the civilian authorities as part of the French and American partnership for D-Day celebrations
It’s a privilege to help commemorate the Allied veterans and their part in the liberation of France.”
Another 10th SFG operator said the jump was a way to trace back their unit’s lineage
and specifically Jedburgh teams of the Office of Strategic Services
which is considered the predecessor of both the CIA and the U.S
“We’re celebrating their combined effort to liberate Western Europe with local forces,” added the operator
who had to remain anonymous for operational security reasons
“The airborne operation celebrates the long relationship between America and France and 10th SFG’s commitment to continuing the tradition of training and working with our allies in Europe.”
In addition to these commemorative jumps, 600 movie theaters across the U.S. will be screening the critically acclaimed movie, “Saving Private Ryan.”
As someone who’s seen what happens when the truth is distorted
