"We are pleased with the progress of the search and the committee is looking forward to more detailed discussions with each candidate to learn more about their vision for B-CU," said John Crossman
"We will continue to keep the public aware of the status of this initiative and greatly appreciate the public's support

(WPDE) — The Department of Neighborhood Services facilitated a National Day of Prayer group worship event in Myrtle Beach Thursday
The group hosts the event every year on the first Thursday in May
encouraging members of all faiths to join for prayer and singing
"There's this thing called corporate worship
corporate prayer: when we're doing it together
it's like everybody's on one accord
and everybody believes," Mary "Cookie" Goings
Director of Neighborhood Services for Myrtle Beach
TODAY: 7-acre fire on Burning Ridge Road 100% contained: SCFC
Prayers were led by a few faith leaders, as well as city officials such as Councilman Mike Chestnut and Mayor Brenda Bethune.
"They're here because they want to be and they believe, and have hope," Goings said.
Bethune said a special prayer against gun violence for the youth of our nation.
"I want us to all pray for our young people because lady and gentleman I believe we have a societal issue," Bethune said. "I didn’t grow up where it was okay for a kid to carry a gun and solve their problems by shooting the person they had the problem with."
The theme for this year's National Day of Prayer is "Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled."
During her prayer, Bethune became emotional and began crying.
"God, I ask you to be with the families of all those who have lost their children because of violence, regardless of whether their children are the ones who caused it or not. There are families, there are parents, there are siblings that will never see their loved ones again, and that breaks our hearts. That breaks my heart and breaks your heart too," Bethune said.
While she did not specifically mention the shooting on North Ocean Boulevard, her prayer comes after an 18-year-old died and 11 others were hurt in the incident.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected Monday afternoon and evening. Some may become severe with large hail and high winds.
TRACK RADARSpirit midfielder Croix Bethune returns to the pitch after recovering from lengthy injuryby Natalie Spala
WASHINGTON (7News) — As rain poured and fans watched their beloved team trail 3-0 to their rivals in the final minutes of regulation
the Washington Spirit faithful had something to cheer about Saturday afternoon at Audi Field
star midfielder Croix Bethune was returning to the pitch
rain is a sign of restarting and refreshing
just kind of washing away sins or negative energy
so I feel like that was just a sign for me," Bethune told 7News Sports Anchor Natalie Spala
Before a devastating knee injury cut her rookie season short
Bethune could not have scripted a better start to her professional career
she was the NWSL's Rookie of the Year
but I've been through some injuries before
and I seem to do pretty well when I bounce back," Bethune said
Bethune took advantage of the time she spent sidelined
learning the game from a different perspective
"Being on the field and playing is definitely a different perspective than watching as a fan or watching as a coach
just kind of reading the spaces and reading the game
and seeing if I were in the game how can I affect it or things that I can learn while watching instead of being in the mix," she said
As she slowly gets her legs under her and becomes reacquainted with the speed and physicality of the game
Bethune has new goals for herself in addition to staying healthy
Missouri State football appears to be replacing an All-American punter with another one
Bethune-Cookman transfer Anthony Frederique announced his commitment to the Bears on social media on Friday morning
He was named an HBCU College Football All-America Team Honorable mention selection last season
Frederique should jump the line to replace Grant Burkett
who earned FCS All-American selections over the last three years
Frederique will compete with former Logan-Rogersville standout Stewart McDonald for the starting role
Frederique had one of the best punting seasons in Bethune-Cookman history
finishing one yard short of the program's average yards per punt
He averaged 43 yards per boot with a long of 67
Twenty-one of his kicks were downed inside the 25
He spent the first two years of his career at Troy
Frederique is the fifth player to commit to Missouri State during the spring recruiting cycle
