Although both projects differ in how they confront the task at hand
the utopian vision they depict puts forth some intriguing examples of how this complex issue can be tackled using vastly divergent approaches
surmounted by an assortment of gardens and additional glass sheds along its uppermost level
Generous balconies extend from the main façade
protected from excess sunlight by white glazing along their edges
The extensive use of glass does respond well to Bruz’s climate
which oscillates between pleasant summers and cold winters
hammering home the notion of the structure being a symbiosis of natural and human-made ecosystems
the sheer size of the central space has allowed for larger trees and shrubs to make their home within the building
enhancing the diversity of the landscaping in its scale as well
While lower floors have blocks of housing units concentrated mainly along two sides
the upper levels host a continuous stream of apartments along all of the building's faces
increasing the sense of enclosure on moving towards the roof and drawing the eye towards the open sky above
Spatial organisation within the units themselves is quite efficient yet not excessively utilitarian
prioritising the availability of ample natural light and ventilation for residents
residents always benefit from a double exposure providing sunshine and nice views,” relay the architects
the building’s roof is home to a range of winter and summer gardens "which light up at night like lanterns to liven up the town’s skyline."

the Bruz Utopia Housing complex depicts a complementary ensemble of contradictions in its materiality
its scheme truly embodies the need to harness contrasting perspectives in facing up to a defining obstacle in the next phase of urban development across the world

Bière de Mars is a blend of Omer Vander Ghinste’s legendary Cuvée des Jacobins Prestige Flanders red ale and Bruz’s specially formulated Petite Saison
the blend of these two classic Belgian-style beers resulted in a smooth
says: “The beer was refermented in the bottle to produce a soft natural carbonation
pillowy head and the potential to age long-term.”
Bruz Beers co-founders Ryan Evans and Charlie Gottenkieny add: “We have always wanted to do a collaboration with a traditional Belgian brewer
and we are thrilled to be working with the legendary Omer Vander Ghinste
The original plan was to brew the beer in Belgium
so the two breweries came up with the idea of brewing transatlantic.”
Omer Vander Ghinste is renowned for its award-winning Belgian-style beers such as Bockor
Traditional Blond and VanderGhinste Oud Bruin
These beers are made available nationwide exclusively by Artisanal Imports
Two more collaboration beers are planned for this limited series in the coming months and will be announced on the Bruz Beers website and its social media accounts at Facebook

The Belgian-style brewery is the anchor of the brand new Midtown neighborhood
Denver's new Midtown neighborhood has a unique draw for potential homebuyers
The development just north of the city is launching with a brewhouse at its center. Bruz Beers
will hold its grand opening this weekend at 1675 W
"It's just a really unique situation," said brewery co-owner Ryan Evans
"We're the anchor of this brand new neighborhood."
Located just a few blocks from the soon-to-open light rail
Bruz will grow to include 20 taps of Belgian-style beers
they'll debut eight styles along with three flavors of kombucha
Head brewer Charlie Gottenkieny's flagship brews span traditional Belgian styles
from the Dame Blanche Witbier at 5.5 percent ABV to the Jagged Twilight Quadruple at 11.6 percent
The wit was a gold-medal winner at this year's Denver International Beer Competition
The grand opening festivities kick off Friday, July 8, at 4 p.m. For more information, visit the brewery's website or Facebook page

Belgium has a brewing history dating back hundreds of years to when beer was brewed out of necessity because fouled water was too dangerous to drink
a true beer lover will probably still choose a delicious Belgian Tripel over a glass of water.
With diverse styles and unique brewing methods, Belgium has solidified its legacy and continues to influence brewing worldwide, including in Colorado. One Colorado brewery that’s all in for Belgian-style beers in Colorado is Bruz Beers
founded by Charlie Gottenkieny and Ryan Evans in 2016.
Charlie Gottenkieny at the Bruz Beers Midtown location / Photo by Jay McKinney
Ryan and I had both gone to Belgium and loved the beer from the minute we tasted it
which was both of our favorites,” Gottenkieny says
“I came back and couldn’t find Belgian beers in America
He started homebrewing in 1988 and mastered the craft
winning competitions and eventually teaching a class titled “World of Belgian Beers” at Colorado Free University and Front Range Community College
Evans attended a class and hit it off with Gottenkieny.
Evans tasted some of Gottenkieny’s Belgian-style beers and soon after
they were crafting a business plan for a brewery
They secured a location in the Midtown neighborhood of north Denver
purchased an old system from Black Shirt Brewing Co
Since then, the brewery has added a second taproom on East Colfax Avenue. They try to source ingredients locally as much as possible because, as Gottenkieny says, “That’s what the Belgians would do.” For example, the Diablo Colorado is a golden strong ale made with grain from Loveland, hops from Billy Goat Hop Farm in Montrose
locally propagated yeast and Colorado water.
“Belgian beer is a small slice of the overall market and a niche,” Gottenkieny says
“But they’re higher quality beers for the most part
sparing no expense or effort making the best beer they can possibly make
and we’ve kind of adopted that philosophy.”
Gottenkieny and Evans aren’t the only brewers making Belgian-style beers in Colorado. Gottenkieny lists Barquentine Brewing Co., Cellar West Artisan Ales, Avery Brewing Co., Primitive Beer, New Belgium, TRVE Brewing Co. and River North Brewery as a few other Colorado breweries that serve great Belgian beers. Matt Hess, founder of River North Brewery
acknowledges the Belgian inspiration in his beer.
“Belgian beer is the reason I fell in love with drinking
“The beer styles open up a world of flavors that can be found in no other brewing tradition
Some of the original brewers in Belgium were monks
monks began brewing in the Middle Ages to provide a safe form of hydration for the community
with different strengths given to the separate social classes
It may seem as if the entire civilization was drunk back then
but most of the beer contained more sugar and less alcohol than present day beers.
brewing expanded outside of monasteries and continued to evolve
with various styles developing in different regions
Despite the wide variety of flavors and brewing methods
there are some common attributes that set them apart from other beers around the world and make them unique.
Ryan Evans enjoys a Belgian beer / Photo by Christopher Austin
Today hundreds of yeast strains are available to brewers
and Belgian strains tend to contain more esters and phenols
Estery yeasts provide fruity flavors such as banana or apricot
and phenolic strains bring spice flavors such as clove or pepper.
While an IPA may be brewed with neutral yeasts because the brewer wants the flavor to primarily come from the hops
Belgian brewers choose yeasts that contribute to the flavor
Another common quality of modern Belgian beers is that they tend to be dry and highly attenuated
which is caused by the yeasts eating up a larger quantity of the fermentable sugar
Some of the most famous Belgian styles include Witbier
Monastery beers like Dubbel and Tripel have evolved from their early counterparts
and Belgium has strict laws governing their classification
A modern-day Tripel that’s labeled as Trappist must be brewed under direct supervision of monks at a brewery on monastery property
The same beer brewed outside of a monastery would be labeled as an Abbey Tripel.
Even though each style has particular characteristics and individual origin stories
Belgian brewing is generally viewed as an artisanal craft
Rather than strictly conforming to pre-existing styles
brewers are seen as artists with freedom to be creative
In addition to selecting distinctive yeasts
Belgian brewers determine flavor profiles by adding fruits and spices or various grains
Fermentation techniques also might be tweaked
Beer is an essential component of Belgian culture
There are hundreds of different glass shapes
and Belgian bartenders are adamant about serving beer in the correct glass
Gottenkieny also fell in love with the cuisine
Belgian chefs frequently use beer in their recipes and develop dishes with beer pairings in mind
Belgian cuisine is varied and influenced by the surrounding countries
Fine dining in Belgium has elements of fancy French cooking
but the average food in the country can be described as comfort food and is influenced heavily by the Dutch.
One classic dish is Carbonnade à la Flamande
a Belgian beef stew with the primary ingredients of beef
Another extremely common food found in Belgium is frites
Despite being commonly known as “French” fries
the Belgians insist they were the original creators of the side
and they are commonly served with meals.
it’s not hard to pair a Belgian beer with just about anything
A lighter beer like Witbier is excellent with sushi or other light seafood dishes
Belgian Strong Golden Ales pair nicely with a wide range of foods including poultry
A Belgian Abbey Tripel pairs well with roasted pork
rich seafood and creamy desserts like crème brûlée
Darker beers such as a Belgian Abbey Dubbel go great with hearty foods like roasted meats
and Belgian beers of all varieties can be paired to an assortment of cheeses

How to tackle the sprawling Middle-earth adventure
Shadow of War builds upon the storyline and many mechanics of 2014's surprise hit Shadow of Mordor
introducing a greater Middle-earth storyline and the return of a dynamic Nemesis system
guide and tips explain how progression works in this sprawling open-world adventure
and hunt down the many kinds of collectibles
The game is split into four Acts - a beginning
and an epilogue - each driven by character-specific plot lines
and your progression through the first Act is largely determined for you
Once Act II has opened up the path you take is much more under your control
and at any given time you may have four or five quests available to you so for simplicity we've covered the quests in the order you'll find them in the menu rather than the order we played them - your experience may vary markedly from ours
While it's up to you which available quests you tackle at any given time
it's worth noting that once you reach Act 2 the Eltariel quests are essentially the "story"
Some of the other questlines contain prerequisites required to unlock more of Eltariel's quests
but it's possible to finish the game without doing everything so if you don't want to miss anything we'd recommend leaving Eltariel until last
there are a number of other systems and mechanics to get your head around
There are a number of things you should know before starting Shadow of War:
you can freely travel between using fast travel points
Once you gain access to a region we'd recommend unlocking the fast travel points as early as you can
partly to cut down on the amount of walking you have to do
and partly in order to reveal the location of the games collectibles
Each region contains a fortress that will need conquering once the Siege missions become available
a variety of smaller encampments that you can clear to make travel easier

Watch the Shadow of War 101 trailer and get hyped
and so far it seems like the sequel is a worthy
if somewhat bloated and micro-transaction-filled adventure that gives us more of the same great action on a whole new level
From the Gamecrate review:
Shadow of War’s focus on preparation before combat will have you feeling like Batman
while its chaotic fortress assaults wouldn’t feel out of place in a war game
The story is exciting and interesting whether you’re a Tolkien fan or not
and the writing is consistently strong and often hilarious
We’ve never seen an action game that grows and expands as well as Shadow of War does
It was a brilliant move to build the “after the end” sandbox mode into the core campaign
because this is a game you’re not going to want to stop playing for a long time

appears set to testify for Google as it defends defamation action from NSW MP John Barilaro
All articles from our website & appThe digital version of Today's PaperBreaking news alerts direct to your inboxInteractive Crosswords
Sudoku and TriviaAll articles from the other regional websites in your areaContinueMr Barilaro has maintained his claim against YouTube's owner over videos titled "bruz" and "Secret Dictatorship" published on the friendlyjordies channel in late 2020
That's despite the former NSW deputy premier and retiring MP settling with Shanks three weeks ago
"The present intention is that Google will be calling Mr Shanks," barrister Lyndelle Barnett
That answer cleared up confusion for Mr Barilaro's lawyer
who questioned what to make of Google saying it "reserves the right" to call Mr Shanks at trial in March
Barrister Sue Chrysanthou SC said cross-examining Mr Shanks would involve some work
but if this is just some sort of empty threat
"We don't mind if they want to call Mr Shanks - and no doubt aggravate the damage to my client in doing so - but if that's their choice
Mr Barilaro launched the defamation case in May
alleging the bruz video wrongly insinuated he was a "corrupt conman" and had "so conducted himself in committing perjury nine times that he should be gaoled"
He alleges Google didn't act on his December 2020 demand for the videos to be removed and their publication was actuated by malice as it was for financial gain and contravened their own YouTube policies
including one stating it was publishing a commentator's honest opinion
Ms Chrysanthou used Friday's hearing to also complain of Google's insistence that Mr Barilaro sign a confidentiality agreement before he could see documents the tech giant was compelled to produce
The documents relate to Google's internal correspondence about Mr Barilaro's video
Google wasn't suggesting the MP would break the normal secrecy regime that applies to litigants but it wanted a recognition that some information had a "particular sensitivity"
underlining that Mr Barilaro could be jailed if he breached the standard
"This is not a trade competitors case where you are looking for trade secrets
"Your client needs to produce the documents in total today
The defamation trial is set down for two weeks
Shanks had planned to defend the claim against him but
accepted some videos were offensive to the retiring MP and apologised in a negotiated settlement that involved no damages
The two videos subject of the claim had since been edited to remove allegations of perjury and corruption
Shanks's eight-year-old channel friendlyjordies has gained more than 110,000 new subscribers to sit at 600,000
Total views grew almost 20 per cent to 155 million views
Google denies the two original videos carried the eight defamatory meanings as stated by Mr Barilaro
the tech giant pleads qualified privilege as a statement of a commentator's honest opinion
It also relies on the video being a matter concerning an issue of public interest - a defence available to publishers as of July 1 this year

It's befitting of a preliminary final stage
and certainly worthy of a crowd packed with nearly 100,000 passionate and raging fans watching on at the MCG
But analysing whether that's the match-up Collingwood coach Craig McRae rolls with during Friday night's final against Greater Western Sydney is difficult
given it's not a battle supporters have been able to enjoy recently
Be it due to a suspension that ruled him out of that famous preliminary final victory back in 2019
or an ankle injury he sustained earlier this season
Greene has only played Collingwood three times in the last five years
reason to suggest why that should be the match-up
Greene has an awesome recent record against the Pies
kicking nine goals from those last three fixtures
but only one has come when paired directly against Maynard
McRae rolled a heap of opponents against Greene in an 11-point Collingwood victory
Champion Data notes that Nick Daicos (35 minutes)
Jeremy Howe (23 minutes) and John Noble (13 minutes) all spent time on him
Greene was ultimately restricted to just one goal from 19 disposals
the best game to judge a potential Greene match-up was their 2021 fixture at the MCG
Greene earned Brownlow votes on that night
having kicked five goals from 18 disposals in a 30-point Giants win
Watch as Toby Greene tears up the 'G as acting captain for the Giants
Champion Data stats show that Greene kicked all five of his goals that night in the 58 minutes he spent paired alongside Isaac Quaynor
while he was held goalless during the 48 minutes on Maynard
when Greene finished with three goals from 19 disposals in a two-point Giants win
he kicked just one goal in the 73.7 percent game time paired with Maynard
Compare that with the 10.5 percent game time he spent on Jack Crisp
The other aspect that goes in Maynard's favour to earn the Greene matchup is the fact he hasn't had the offensive side of his game compromised
despite spending more time opposed to the Giants captain than any other Magpies player
Damian Barrett and Nat Edwards discuss a big weekend of storylines in Access All Areas
Maynard still had 22 disposals and nine marks against the Giants in 2022
It's clearly enough to suggest he could be the man for the occasion on Friday night
the football world will certainly be licking its lips for what's in store at the MCG

Middle Earth: Shadow Of War
much expanded from its predecessor, lets Talion recruit huge armies of orcs
as well as some new additions like war trolls and drakes
While many dominated-followers are just randomized stats and names
the Olog-Hai named Bruz gets his own specific quest line
teaching you how to conquer and defend strongholds
Unlike most other missions that clearly go from A to B without any problems
you frequently have to complete other quests to unlock new areas and continue Bruz’s saga
we outline all the Shadow Of War Bruz missions
This guy will be nice to have on your side
Domination is one of the only major abilities from the Shadow of Mordor that’s missing at the start of Shadow Of War
but you can finally start dominating enemies again early in Act 2 with this quest
All you have to do is battle Bruz in the same way as any of the other war trolls you’ve come across at that point
Hit “A” (Xbox One) or “X” (PS4) when prompted to dodge his attacks three times in a row
and then finally dominate him to get Bruz on your side
Getting some conquest advice from your new troll pal
Talion will need to recruit three Captains (besides Bruz) to build up a force to capture Nurnen in this siege segment
capture the two Victory Points and take out the overlord to install Bruz as your new second in command
Completing the mission opens up the map so you can get into the full meat of the game
Talion also weirdly gives a motivational Braveheart style speech to… his army of mindless dominated orcs
This quest and the next one don’t have a whole lot for Talion to do except follow tutorials
You can get the I Like To Watch achievement here by having a follower murder another captain without helping him during the pit fight segment
Just watch the fights and move on to the next quest
Some players have had trouble getting this Bruz quest to unlock
If the quest isn’t available after The Fight Pits
go make sure you’ve progressed along the Carnan quest line as far as you can
but it is possible to lose the mission entirely
so make sure you’ve got some warchiefs and captains to help you defend the Victory Points
Pay attention to this mission: the grueling Shadow War end-game content is a whole lot of this exact scenario
This is your typical rescue mission (which were so prevalent in the previous game) and stealth is key so you don’t get swarmed
before you start releasing prisoners so you don’t have to deal with ranged fire if someone notices you
If you imported your follower from Shadow Of Mordor
that orc can be randomly assigned as one of the prisoners to save
it’s time to fight Bruz again — just use the same war troll tactics you know by now
avoiding his big attack and getting behind to freeze and get in a few swings
The big problem here is that there can be multiple captains with the army
so you need to keep them apart if you want to survive
If any of them are vulnerable to freezing or pinning
make sure to lock them in place while you take care of the rest
Rescuing some orc prisoners
head to the meeting point and be prepared for an ambush with caragor-mounted orcs
then go on a mad dash to rescue the Ranger troll with a 30-second countdown
as Bruz has set up a not-so-cleverly disguised Ranger that’s actually a bunch of explosives
Wait for the Ka-Boom and then follow the ever-helpful Ratbag to get revenge on your erstwhile lieutenant
No
sneak into Bruz’s camp without raising any alarms (be on the lookout for archers!) and get ready for your final battle against the upstart troll
you need to dominate him again and pick the “shame” option to show the other warchiefs who is boss
That’s all you need to know to complete the Shadow Of War Bruz quest line! Need help with the rest of the game? Be sure to check out our other Shadow Of War guides for more tips
