24kGoldn is best known for his songs that went viral on TikTok
including “Mood,” “Valentino” and “City of Angels.”
1 song on Spotify called ‘Mood,’” Burnett said
UF freshmen twins Steven and Patrick Miller-Edwards attended the show together
They kept an open mind despite not knowing what to expect
“I looked him up on Spotify because I thought he sounded somewhat familiar,” Steven Miller-Edwards said
“Then I saw the song ‘City of Angels’ come across it and remembered listening to this back in my COVID-19 days
said she only knew 24kGoldn’s songs “Valentino” and “Mood” and Hot Chelle Rae’s “Tonight Tonight.” She’s hoping to see more current artists from Student Government Productions in the future

I just want to be around other people and enjoy music.”
Sian Jose stood in the pit and said the artists “only played a few good songs”
But she ultimately feels that she had a good time
The front of the pit section carried the energy
while the excitement faded toward the back
“There were like two okay songs and then one good song,” Jose said
“Starting with ‘Valentino’ was smart — I can’t lie.”

Southampton on Thursday night in the Premier League
Éric Sékou Chelle has begun his tenure as coach of Nigeria's men's national team with a promise to play an attacking style of football as he works towards pulling the Super Eagles' World Cup chestnuts from the fire
who was officially presented by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday
says he is aware of the expectations of Nigerians -- and is prepared for them
"Football is about scoring goals, I love attacking football, this is my philosophy," Sékou Chelle said at Monday's ceremony. "I know the expectations of Nigerians, and I will settle down and work diligently with assistants towards the goal of qualifying the Super Eagles to the FIFA World Cup."
Coaching the Super Eagles of Nigeria is an amazing job; I do not take this appointment for granted
"To coach the most populous Black nation in the world is an honour
I believe Nigeria can qualify for the World Cup."
The Super Eagles need to win all six of their remaining games to guarantee qualification
Sékou Chelle says they need to play high-pressure football
We need to work harder and play high-pressure football
Time is not the best friend of every coach
but if you accept the risk you need to take responsibility."
NFF president Ibrahim Musa Gusau said the coach had signed a two-year contract
with the option of another year if he qualified the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals
"I see in the new head coach the right spirit and the right attitude
and I have faith that he will take the Super Eagles to the next level," Gusau said
"He sees the job of leading the Super Eagles as his dream job
"Coach [Sékou Chelle] recognizes and appreciates what is ahead of him
We will be there giving him the necessary support all the way."
Despite the vote of confidence from the NFF
Sékou Chelle's appointment has been met with a rash of criticism from some former Nigeria internationals
including high-profile names such as two-time African Player of the Year Nwankwo Kanu and Austin Okocha
The major arguments are that if the NFF could not hire a high-profile foreign coach they should have left Austin Eguavoen in the role or hired a Nigerian
1997 African Player of the Year Victor Ikpeba
a member of the NFF's technical committee that recommended Sékou Chelle
said that no process would have been perfect
"The appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles will always generate a lot of interest," Ikpeba said
"This is one of the biggest countries in Africa
and that's the passion that comes with the national team
Ikpeba also had some broadsides for his former teammates over their criticism of the appointment
"When Finidi George had his issues in the Super Eagles, how many ex-internationals came out to support him? Eguavoen did a remarkable job to qualify us for the [Africa Cup of Nations] but now a decision has been made and we have to support the new man
"Eric Chelle is a young coach who will succeed with our support
We're in a tight corner in the World Cup qualifying campaign
and we must back him to get the best out of the players
who are the main actors in this situation."
Sékou Chelle, who becomes the 36th man to coach the Super Eagles, and the first non-Nigerian African, has already begun work, taking a supervisory role in the Super Eagles' African Nations Championship team preparing for the 2016 tournament in Rwanda
Nigeria has appointed Eric Chelle as head coach
entrusting him with reviving the Super Eagles’ faltering bid for the 2026 World Cup
was most recently the head coach of Mali’s national football team
which he led to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals
the former center-back earned five caps for Mali during his career
struggling in Group C with only three points from four matches
The team resumes their campaign in March with crucial matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe
With only group winners earning automatic qualification and runners-up facing play-offs
Chelle faces a formidable task to secure Nigeria’s place in the upcoming tournament

Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami has shown a change of heart regarding Eric Chelle’s appointment as the Super Eagles head coach
revealing the Franco-Malian’s plan to transform the team
Odegbami was a key figure in Nigeria’s 1980 Africa Cup of Nations triumph and he was initially sceptical of the Nigeria Football Federation’s decision to hire Chelle
The 46-year-old became the first non-Nigerian coach to take charge of the Super Eagles when he was appointed in January
who is a former Mali international did not have the best playing career and was yet to get a major managerial appointment before leading Mali to the quarter-finals of the 2023 AFCON
Chelle is known for his thorough and detailed approach to scouting players and developing tactical strategies
demonstrating a strong dedication to creating a unified and effective team
“He has been gathering information on all great players of Nigerian descent abroad and keeping their data,” Odegbami wrote in a column for Complete Sports
“He passes those born abroad and those that were bred in Nigeria through different prisms for his analysis
He has spent endless hours watching each one of the players at least five times in different matches to know them well
He would use the natural strength of Nigerian players to form his style of play – pressing hard when they lose the ball
Getting to opposing goals in the shortest possible time and with the fewest number of passes
“These are copies from Father Tiko and Clemens Westerhof’s books of football
He reminded me of how Nigerian football was played when at its best— quick forwards
using strength and speed down the flanks.”

In a historic move, Nigeria have named former Mali coach Éric Sékou Chelle as the new manager of the men's senior national team

and communicating with his Europe-based stars online
Super Eagles coach Eric Sekou Chelle will take charge of his first game
Malian Sekou Chelle became the first non-Nigerian African to be handed one of the most prestigious national team jobs in Africa when he was named Super Eagles coach in January
with a brief to dig Nigeria out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying hole they find themselves in
they are floundering on three draws and one loss
Chelle's immediate brief is to get the Super Eagles a ticket to North America
despite sitting in fifth position on the log
With only three training sessions with his wards before what is no doubt the biggest game of his career
what should fans expect from Chelle and his team
Nigeria do not have a good record against Rwanda on the road
In three previous meetings going back 20 years in Rwanda, the Super Eagles have all managed to come away with three draws from all three games. A 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying match ended 1-1 at the Amahoro Stadium
In 2011, a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Stade Regional de Nyamirambo
it was another 0-0 in a 2025 AFCON qualifying match at the Amahoro
One constant in those games has always been the fight and intensity brought by the home team
even when they line out with players whose talents and exposure are miles removed from those of the Super Eagles stars
To expect any less from the hosts would be delusional
Which is why the Sekou Chelle's Super Eagles must be expected to respond in kind
They cannot afford to be out-hustled and outfought in any part of the pitch
and if the current set of Nigeria players are as desperate as they say to make it to the World Cup
they will do as their coach says and fight
Osimhen said: "He said 'I need you guys to come and work with me to achieve amazing things with Nigeria
And I think you guys have the quality to do it
But the one who doesn't fight for every ball
Captain WIlliam Troost-Ekong says the team are up for the challenge: "We're fired up," the defender said in an interview from the camp
It comes with pressure but I keep saying to everyone that this pressure is a privilege
We are very happy to work with a new coach
he has given us a lot of new instructions so for us it is just a matter of making sure that we understand what he wants from us and we are working towards that now
"These are the key moments when you have to stand up but none of us are afraid of that and like I said
this pressure is a privilege for all of us."
This is not unfamiliar territory to Nigeria
the Super Eagles were in a similar position and had to battle all the way with Yakubu and Obafemi Martins coming up with the goods in a 4-3 win
contest every duel and make sure they win one more second ball than Rwanda
their hopes of making it to North America will be hanging by the finest of threads
Victor Osimhen will be a key player for Nigeria against Rwanda and Zimbabwe as they look to rescue their World Cup qualifying campaign. Visionhaus/Getty ImagesHow will they respond to adversity?Whether they go a goal down
how Chelle deals with in-game adversity to turn things around will go a long way to determine the perception he will get from the Nigerian football community
Will his players hang their heads and let it get to them
Will the coach make the adjustments that will get them back in it
Will he make the right substitutions at the right time
Some of the biggest issues Nigerian fans have had with coaches have been around in-game management
Chelle showed with Mali that he can play a high intensity attacking football involving every player
What happens if the team do not respond the way he wants
Osimhen says the coach has spoken about bringing down the hammer on non-performers
an uncle to everyone," the forward said on the Obi One podcast
If the players see you running hard they will do the same
but you understand that it is for you to set an example'
The first thing most Nigerians will be looking out for is who makes the coach's first line up
With only three training sessions with the new coach under their belt
it is hard to see the team changing much from the past
apart from players who are ready to leave it all on the Amahoro pitch
are those who will be quick on the uptake and execute as planned
African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman
who is playing his first game for Nigeria since being crowned as Africa's best player
says the team have been given a lot to digest: "We have had loads of meetings about how the manager wants us to play
our game plan and aspects of how we defend and attack
"We are keyed into his ideas and we have implemented that in training and hopefully we can show that during the game."
Upfront, Lookman and Osimhen are virtual shoo ins, leaving one spot for the duo of Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze to battle over
Malian-Ivorian tactician Eric Chelle has opened up about his preferred style of play after being unveiled as the new Super Eagles head coach
The 47-year-old was recently appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after parting ways with Algerian club MC Oran
Chelle had guided Mali to the 2023 AFCON quarter-finals in Ivory Coast and he has described the Nigeria job as ‘amazing.’
“I want to thank my agent, the NFF, the NSC and indeed all Nigerians for this big opportunity,” Chelle said on the NFF website
“Coaching the Super Eagles of Nigeria is an amazing job; I do not take this appointment for granted
I know the expectations of Nigerians and I will settle down,” he continued
“And work diligently with assistants towards the goal of qualifying the Super Eagles to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”
Chelle will start his tenure as the Super Eagles coach by taking charge of the team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March 2025
Eric Chelle reportedly set to quit as Super Eagles coach
Seven months and three weeks after the unfortunate ouster of former Super Eagles coach Finidi George, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the appointment of Eric Chelle as the new gaffer of the male national team
The arrival of the Malian tactician has raised many eyebrows within the football community
with many questioning his qualifications and competence to lead such a talented group of players
especially because he’s not had any high-profile job in the past
Malian tactician Eric Chelle is the first African coach (non-Nigerian) to lead the Super Eagles
and it’s understandable why he’s not receiving overwhelming support from fans and pundits alike
Let’s delve into how former Super Eagles coach Finidi George, who resigned in June 2024 (even though the NFF has yet to confirm the decision)
compares to the recently hired Eric Chelle
Is the Malian an upgrade on the ex-Ajax star
Here is all you need to know about the life and career of new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle
Finidi is a well-established legend of the game
He held down the Super Eagles’ right wing for many years
winning the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria and featured at two FIFA World Cup tournaments (1994 and 1998).
Meanwhile Eric Chelle’s footballing career does not come close to the accomplished Finidi George. The Malian managed just five caps for his national team compared to his Nigerian counterpart with 62. Before calling time of his club career
all in France and his biggest achievement as a player was winning Ligue 2 and the French National 1 Cup
Finidi George was assistant coach to Jose Peseiro as Nigeria went on a ride at 2023 AFCON
He then took over (first on an interim basis) from the Portugese and in his first game in charge
fans were treated to free-flowing attacking football
something that was missing during the reign of his predecessor
Under Finidi, Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 in an international friendly before losing 2-0 to Eric Chelle’s Mali in the next game
the former Ipswich Town player got the nod and was handed the Super Eagles job permanently
Even though Mali eventually sacked Eric Chelle for failing to defeat an Ivory Coast team that was reduced to 10-man in the first half
the France-born tactician had done enough to win the hearts of many and earned another chance with Algerian side FC MC Oran
Finidi George has won the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title with Enyimba in 2023 while Eric Chelle is yet to get his hands on any silverware as a coach.
There's absolutely nothing in Eric Chelle's career as a player or manager that holds water when compared to what the legendary Findi George has achieved
let's not forget that having a glittering career as a player doesn't always automatically translate to being a great coach
Football is replete will numerous examples of great footballers that became mediocre coaches at the very best - Gary Neville
Comparing Finidi George and Eric Chelle might seem an unfair comparison but something tells me that if given full support

Eric Chelle: Five things to know about new Super Eagles coach
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially appointed Éric Sékou Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles
The French-Malian & Ivorian tactician replaces Finidi George who resigned in June 2024 and his former Super Eagles teammate Augustine Eguavoen took charge as an interim coach
The NFF has now issued the following statement announcing Chelle’s appointment with the 47-year-old having guided Mali to the quarters-finals at the 2023 AFCON finals
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has endorsed the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee for the appointment of Mr. Éric Sékou Chelle as Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men national football team, Super Eagles,” a club statement read
“At its meeting held in Abuja on Thursday
the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee had recommended the appointment of former Coach of the senior men national team of Mali as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles
7th January endorsed by the NFF Executive Committee.”
Chelle’s appointment is with immediate effect
and he has the responsibility of guiding the Super Eagles to earn a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals
with the next round of matches (Matchdays 5 & 6) taking place in March
Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has bemoaned his team’s wastefulness after they could only draw 1-1 with Zimbabwe in a 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Tuesday
The Super Eagles created a whole host of chances in Uyo
but they had to wait until the 74th minute to breach Washington Arubi’s goal after Victor Osimhen headed home a cross from Ola Aina
the hosts failed to hold onto their lead as Tawanda Chirewa capitalised on poor defending to equalise in the 90th minute and dash their hopes of claiming second place from Rwanda in Group C
Osimhen and Ademola Lookman were particularly guilty of failing to take their chances in the first half and Chelle felt the West African giants should have put the game to bed by half-time
“What can I say about the first half
we could have scored 10 goals in the first half,” he said
“You make some mistake in the last technical skills and Zimbabwe comes to defend and stop the game
it’s hard because my players and my team were the better team on the pitch.”
but they appear to have little chance of winning the group as South Africa have opened up a five-point gap on the chasing pack
Chelle is targeting the runners-up spot with four matches left to play and September’s encounters against Rwanda and Bafana Bafana have taken on even more importance as he seeks to qualify for the global showpiece in Canada
“I am so disappointed for my players
I think we can go to look for the second place,” he added

Is the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) self-sabotaging by appointing Eric Chelle as the new manager of the Super Eagles
The news of the choice of the former Mali gaffer as the new coach of the Nigerian men’s national football team has been criticised by many Nigerians
The Shehu Gusau-led NFF has arguably gotten most of its decisions right in the last 12 months
But this is different and a huge gamble by the football administrators
The saga surrounding the Super Eagles’ coaching position took a dramatic turn following Jose Peseiro’s departure after the Nations Cup last March
The situation intensified with the brief appointment and subsequent resignation of Finidi George
only to descend into a comical confusion with the unexpected announcement of Bruno Labbadia and his rejection of the appointment
former Cote d’Ivoire coach Herve Renard revealed he declined a lucrative offer for the role
His revelation highlighted the disarray in the NFF
The chaotic search for a national team coach has become a farce and a source of frustration and embarrassment for Nigerian football fans
currently fifth in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group with just three points from two matches
must win all six remaining games to avoid back-to-back absences from the global fiesta
This scenario would be unprecedented since Nigeria’s debut at USA 199
the Malian vowed to make the Eagles super again
“It is with immense honour and profound humility that I assume the role of head coach of your national team
“I want to express my gratitude for the trust that has been placed in me
football is not just a sport but a flame that unites millions of hearts across the country and the diaspora
“My goal is clear: to restore the Super Eagles to the pinnacle of world football
where they truly belong,” Chelle emphasised while adding
and a strategy that is both ambitious and realistic.”
“I firmly believe in the potential of this team and the power of Nigerians to rally behind their heroes on the field,” he added
every decision will be made in the best interest of our nation
with a clear vision: to make all of Nigeria proud with every victory.”
Silently acknowledging the widespread scepticism
Chelle invited Nigerians as he promised to revive the Eagles
“I invite you to walk with me on this new journey,” he said
we will revive the glory of the Super Eagles
we will proudly carry the colours of this great nation.”
While Chelle’s appointment has sparked widespread scepticism
it’s worth noting that many of Nigeria’s most successful coaches – such as Clemens Westerhof and Stephen Keshi – arrived without intimidating CVs
Being an average football player doesn’t necessarily preclude managerial excellence (e.g.
and being an exceptional player does not guarantee managerial success (e.g.
Can Chelle follow in the footsteps of Westerhof and Keshi and silence his critics
This question cannot be answered sufficiently because the environments in which he has worked differ entirely from the ones he will meet in Nigeria
Another is that he has coached no team of the calibre of the Nigeria national football team in his 10-year stint as a coach
The abiding image of Chelle came at the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire
when an assistant poured water over his bowed head after Mali’s shocking capitulation in the quarterfinal
but Simon Adingra’s 90th-minute equaliser and Oumar Diakhite’s extra-time winner saw Côte d’Ivoire
asking why the NFF overlooked ex-Nigerian internationals like Sunday Oliseh
and Emmanuel Amuneke in favour of a former Mali international
revealed that financial constraints played a significant role in the decision
or even third choice,” the insider disclosed
Former Super Eagles striker Jonathan Akpoborie
voicing his concerns: “Why is nobody talking about the new Super Eagles coach
Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification hopes hang by a thread
Many argue this is not the time for experimentation
and the frustration among Nigerian football enthusiasts has been exacerbated by Chelle’s appointment
which many see as the ultimate insult to local coaches
Though no official explanation has been offered
the NFF’s decision to hire Chelle seems to reflect a pragmatic
The Glass House insiders told PREMIUM TIMES that Chelle was the most cost-effective choice
you need to take some risks and make some sacrifices,” Chelle said at his unveiling
these financial constraints played a significant role
with the federation unable to hire high-profile European coaches previously linked to the job
Talks with names like Hervé Renard and Antonio Conceição fell through
while German coach Bruno Labbadia turned down the role after initially being announced
Chelle’s appointment was the most cost-effective and yet potentially promising solution for the gamble by the NFF
considerably lower than the $70,000 paid to Peseiro
argue that settling for an Indigenous coach could have been even cheaper if money was the deciding factor
Former South Africa coach Pitso Mosimane has talked about coaching the Eagles
which would have been a less controversial and accepted choice for Nigerians
Some analysts said Chelle’s appointment makes sense because he has excellent knowledge of the African terrain
Chelle’s familiarity with African football may then have been the decisive factor
the former Malian international possesses the requisite coaching experience on the continent and he also holds a UEFA Pro License
the highest qualification in football management
His previous work with Mali and African players in European clubs might have appealed to the NFF as a way to connect with the Super Eagles’ largely foreign-based squad
argue that his CV does not align with the stature of a team like the Super Eagles
They point to his dismissal as Mali’s coach in 2024 after the team failed to secure a World Cup spot
which includes stints at small European and Algerian sides
but he believes the NFF knows why they made the controversial choice
Ajilore stressed the need to adapt to the realities of the situation
“I have learned to understand that in football
sometimes when the preferable is not available
and all we can do is to rally behind him (Chelle)
The appointment of the first non-Nigerian African coach for the Super Eagles should not be baffling
were hired by other African nations and achieved varying degrees of success
Keshi famously led Togo to their first-ever World Cup appearance in 2006
while Amuneke guided Tanzania to their first Africa Cup of Nations in 39 years
Chelle’s appointment could be a step towards redefining perceptions about African coaching talents
“I like the Africa-for-Africa route the NFF has gone
There’s no need to bring a third-class coach from Serbia or elsewhere and be celebrating because he is white-skinned,” Oladimeji Adeyemi
Nigerian football history is filled with examples of unheralded coaches defying expectations
who transformed the Super Eagles into a global powerhouse in the 1990s
was relatively unknown before his appointment
whose appointments were met with initial scepticism
could follow a similar path if given the right support and time to implement his vision
a board member with Nigeria Premier Football League side Ikorodu City and former Media Officer for the National U-13
frowned at the assumption Nigeria is too big to be handled by a Malian
“Nigeria is not the biggest country in Africa
check Google and see other countries’ performances in the AFCON and World Cup
“One final since 2013 (before making it again 10 years after in Cote d’Ivoire)
“A country that struggles to pay foreign coaches $50,000 and owes them in abundance is claiming the biggest in Africa
“A country with one stadium fit to host international games
A country with a backlog of bonuses and allowances for different national teams
A country where their club sides can’t win continental tournaments since 2004
Chelle inherits a team with fragile confidence
The Super Eagles must overcome formidable opposition
to secure their ticket to the 2026 tournament
Chelle must address long-standing issues such as poor fitness levels
Winning the trust of players and fans will be a big task
given the backlash his appointment has generated
While doubts about Chelle’s credentials will persist
his UEFA Pro License and European football experience could provide a good shock to the system
including taking Mali to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations
suggest he has the potential to navigate high-pressure situations
The Super Eagles’ desperation to avoid another World Cup absence might also work in his favour
as players and stakeholders rally behind the common goal of qualification
Chelle’s appointment as Super Eagles coach is undoubtedly a gamble by the NFF
but it is not without precedent in Nigerian football
it is also an opportunity for a fresh approach to managing the national team
The 47-year-old has six months to prove himself and justify the faith placed in him
the focus must shift from the controversy surrounding his appointment to the collective effort required to restore Nigeria’s pride on the global stage
He steps into a high-stakes role where immediate results are non-negotiable
with World Cup qualification hanging in the balance
Failure would provoke intense backlash – not only against him but also against the NFF
success would silence critics and transform this moment of doubt into a resounding triumph
Can Chelle withstand the pressure and deliver
The former Mali international was introduced to the public during a ceremony held in the media conference room of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja
Chelle's appointment was proposed by the Technical and Development Sub-Committee and later approved by the NFF Executive Committee on Tuesday
In addition to succeeding Augustine Eguavoen
he makes history as the first non-Nigerian African to manage the three-time African champions
He has been tasked with leading the West Africans to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
He will be assisted by Hadi Taboubi, Thomas Gornourec, and Jean-Daniel Padovani, all of whom were part of his backroom staff during his tenure at Algerian top-flight side MC Oran
"Dear Nigerians, It is with immense honour and profound humility that I assume the role of head coach of your national team, the Super Eagles
I want to express my gratitude for the trust that has been placed in me
We are ready," Chelle wrote on Instagram
football is not just a sport - it is a flame that unites millions of hearts across the country and the diaspora
My goal is clear: to restore the Super Eagles to the pinnacle of world football
and a strategy that is both ambitious and realistic."
He continued: "I will rely on the exceptional talent of our players

with a clear vision: to make all of Nigeria proud with every victory
"I invite you to walk with me on this new journey

and let Nigeria shine again on the world stage
Thank you for your unwavering support."
remarked that the Malian coach represents the fresh energy
and positive attitude they seek to bring to the Super Eagles as they approach their remaining six matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
Gusau said: "We appreciate the fact that Nigerians are very passionate about the game of football
and that is the reason for the different tones of reactions following the appointment of coach Chelle
the NFF hereby appeals to Nigerians to come together and support him
as we believe he has the qualities to achieve success with the Super Eagles
"The NFF will give him all the support that he needs to succeed in the job.”
Nigeria are currently fifth in Group C, having earned just three points from four matches played. They will be looking to revive their faltering campaign when they visit Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali in March

Meanwhile, Ahmed Musa returned to the squad for the first time since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, joining other senior players, William Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, Ola Aina and a host of other experienced players in the list.
Chelle is expected to announce his 23-man squad next week and concentrate on first the tie against Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 before flying back home to face Zimbabwe in Uyo four days later.
With three draws and a loss in their first four matches of the World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria’s chances of competing in USA, Canada and Mexico next year is in massive jeopardy, and must do everything humanly possible to pick up the maximum six points later this month to boost any opportunity they may have left.
