The rally was led by defense stocks, with Rheinmetall up 3.1% and Renk gaining 4.1%, driven by expectations of increased defense spending under Germany’s new government. The conservative-led coalition finalized its governing agreement today, clearing the way for ministerial appointments, with CDU leader Friedrich Merz set to be sworn in as chancellor tomorrow. Oh, he got the multi-million-dollar memo for next year, but guys like position coach Charles Burks are thinking only about how he's got the legs that can help revive the Bengals' defense under new coordinator Al Golden right now "Dax unleashed," said Burks a few hours later after emerging from yet another skull session with Golden and his staff When you have a guy like Dax Hill who can do multiple things really well … he covers you put him in position to take advantage of his skill set." When Hill went down in the fifth game last season with a torn ACL It was the first time he played the position in the NFL after breaking into the league in 2022 as a first-rounder projected to play safety in the league following a career he primarily played the slot at Michigan and when he started and played more than 1,000 snaps at his new position the next year and I'm so happy to see a guy like that get rewarded," Burks said "I've watched every one of his practices since he's been here and not once have I ever seen him point the finger but he'd rather talk about the upcoming fourth season It's good to be here another year," Hill said I'm on the way to that and striving to get there." Burks is convinced Hill can play the nickel and not just because of what he did at Michigan But what he did against a Michigan quarterback when he was a rookie The 9-4 Bengals were riding a five-game winning streak and headed to Tampa Bay sniffing the playoffs at 9-4 when Burks sent Hill a text message the Tuesday before the game His second NFL start and first ever in the slot would come against Thomas Edward Patrick Brady "He had never practiced with us in the slot until that week," Burks said "No mental errors and he played his butt off against Tom Brady and we won a game we had to win there never should have been a question that Dax Hill can play in the slot." The DAX is likely to take a slower approach to returning to its record high on Monday Around two and a half hours before the start of trading on Xetra broker IG estimated the German benchmark index to be 0.3 percent lower at 23,026 points The focus remains on hopes and fears that progress will soon be made in possible tariff agreements with the US with a continuation of the rally that brought the German benchmark index back up to within 400 points of its record high of 23,476 points Investors are now focusing on managing the sharp 2.6 percent rise seen last Friday is not expected to provide new impetus until later in the week Since the sell-off at the beginning of April experts at UBS believe that the period of volatility is not over yet as uncertainty about US President Donald Trump's tariff policy remains The tariffs he announced on certain car parts came into force on Saturday "My underpants are sitting on the ground," he said remembering a recent episode of his podcast that featured an uninvited guest Emlyn Travis is a news writer at Entertainment Weekly with over five years of experience covering the latest in entertainment and awards for multiple outlets including MTV News There’s nothing like that feeling of setting off on an adventure – the anticipation of ending the day somewhere other than where you started hoping that you’ve got everything you need knowing that you’re the one in control and ready to enjoy the freedom that comes with being a genuine saddle tramp it was an easy to say ‘yes’ when I was asked to take part in the famous Dragon Rally in North Wales on behalf of MCN earlier this year I’ve ridden thousands of miles in various far-flung places around the globe, and regardless of whether I’ve been swinging a leg to kickstart a Royal Enfield Bullet in South India peeling out from a dealership onto Route 66 or just rolling off the Eurotunnel at Calais invigorating and the best soul food there is As I leapt out of bed at 3.30am on a sharply cold I was filled with that familiar feeling once again I could hear the road calling like an old friend and I had to forcibly hold myself back to slowly and methodically suit up ensuring I’ve got everything where it needs to be and nothing gets left behind This trip would be a little different to the overland experiences that fuelled my fix back in the day as I was trying to recreate a particular adventure that has been an obsession of mine for years And it involved deliberately making life difficult for myself I don’t know what it was that initially brought the Dragon Rally to my attention but once it was in my head I just couldn’t shake it off There was something compellingly intriguing about the secrecy surrounding it the old school way with which it was organised and the fascinating fact that thousands of motorcyclists would turn out to meet up for one night in a field in North Wales on the second weekend of February Applying for tickets was all done by post and involved sending off a cheque (remember those?) with a couple of self-addressed envelopes – one for your entry ticket and the other which would be returned in the weeks leading up to the event to provide details of the check point from where the actual location of the rally would be revealed Nowadays it’s all done via email and bank transfers After a couple of false starts, I eventually broke my Dragon duck in 2022 which also happened to be the 60th anniversary of the event but amidst the 60mph winds and driving rain I discovered a warm and welcoming community where many a tale was told of far worse weekends in years past It was through talking to veteran rally goers, whilst huddled around homemade braziers beneath billowing tarps, that I learned how it used to be in the early days, when it was as much of a challenge to make it to the checkpoint as it was to endure the unpredictable winter weather under canvas There was no stopover in a B&B the night before and why the campsite is kept secret until the day of the event and with machines being what they were at the time Small capacity bikes are a popular choice for the modern Dragon, and for me that captures the traditional, pioneering spirit on which the rally was incepted. Certainly in terms of average speed and comfort anyway, and that’s how I found myself loaded up to the eyeballs on a Honda ST125 Dax with 250 miles ahead of me and dawn yet to break As I rode forth into the darkness of the Fens it became immediately apparent that The tiny LED headlamp barely managed to emit a glow by which to see and on full beam I was more dazzled by the blue indicator lamp than gifted a panoramic vista Every imperfection in the road surface seemed to send the 12” rims skittering while the suspension needed all the flexibility in my elbows and upper body to soak up the bumps It was perfect and I felt oddly inspired, despite the fact that my common sense was screaming at me to turn back. How long would 250 miles take? My half-assed route planning had involved simply turning off the highways option on my Beeline app (the little Beeline Moto 2 navigator was the only thing that seemed apt on the bars) which estimated I’d reach the checkpoint at Conwy Castle in just under 5 hours What I’d failed to consider was the average speed that was likely based on when that figure was actually more representative of my top speed and filled with the joy that Honda builds into its pint sized machines I had been a bit concerned as to how my smidge-under-six-foot frame would fit the Dax Thankfully the designers had taken this into account effectively making the ST125’s seat big enough for two so even though I was loaded up I had plenty of room and a backrest to boot some 90 miles and nearly three hours later The sky became lighter as I topped up the four-litre tank for the first time in Nottingham and a quick calculation had my mpg at around 115 for a cost of £4.70 I certainly wouldn’t be maxing out the credit card on this trip Now I could actually see where I was going I’d just been so hyper focused on navigating the inky blackness that I’d not really been thinking about anything – accidental zen It’s usually a state of mind I’d reach after hundreds of miles in the saddle With the world around me revealed I pushed on with renewed vigour ready to start tackling traffic and whatever the day had to throw at me An unavoidable spell on one of my least favourite roads ripped me away from the comfort I was enjoying on my rural route and although the Dax could just about hold its own in terms of pace I had to ride elbows out to not get swamped by wagons buses and basically everyone else who was head down on the morning commute I’d covered 175 miles and was still smiling – had I lost my mind without realising it With the little Honda puttering away beneath me everything had taken on a slightly surreal glow… people were smiling at me and I felt no urge to pin the throttle and crack on as I normally might Cars seemed to wait for me to pass and even made way as I filtered – I was contented with just being letting things unfold in front as and when they were ready to A delightful detour down to the A5 led me through the Welsh hills to Conwy and after nine hours alone in the saddle it’s fair to say that I actually felt a bit overwhelmed as I rolled up to the checkpoint at Conwy Motorcycle Club’s HQ and I added my own feeling of relief and achievement to the collective euphoria from all those who had made it too – and there were more than a few kindred spirits on little bikes It was only 18 miles from there to the official campsite but that final stage was more like a victory lap where we could bask in the glory of having made it before setting up camp to tell our own tales of having conquered the Dragon It seems that a disproportionate number of Dragon goers ride small capacity machines but it’s not just about doing something different for this annual rally as YouTuber Dean Lambert of Monkey Dix Adventures explains ‘I’ve not owned a big bike for five years now I just fell in love with it and have never gone back to show people how fantastic they are.’ A Facebook group and that created a community that’s now 3,000 strong everyone enjoys the fact that we can just go and do things together on these little bikes And when you do a big ride it feels like more of an achievement when you do it on something that’s not really made for it.’ Among Dean’s adventures has been a 2,600 mile ride on his Monkey to raise funds and awareness for Andy’s Man Club ‘I’d had my own issues with anxiety and panic attacks which has given me real empathy for people going through the same kind of thing People from the group let us camp in their gardens so it cost next to nothing.’ Dean organises monthly meet ups where they ride out and find somewhere to cook but it creates a safe space for people to open up and talk about things.’ And that’s the wonderful thing about little bikes they’re both and ice breaker and a leveller As an indication of the wider appeal of small capacity motorcycling the ‘Great Fun on Small Bikes’ facebook group has attracted more than 94k members in six years It caters for sub-250cc machines and admin Rob Claire had ridden up from Deal in Kent Working out what to wear was a bit of a challenge not least because I’d left it to the last minute These days I seem to be in either touring textiles or leathers but I wasn’t planning to undress for the next 40 hours so wanted to keep it practical and comfortable Foundations first, and the Zerofit Heatrub Ultimate Base Layer was a no-brainer as not only does it keep your body temp on an even keel but it also actually generates heat as you move I find a few gentle on-board aerobics is all it takes to get the fibres working leggings and sock combo I felt suitably insulated A regular long-sleeved t-shirt followed for the top half with a pair of Roadskin Cargo trousers for the lower decks The Roadskins are double layered with a Kevlar lining and mesh inner That construction makes them feel heavy duty but the fit is relaxed so they’re super comfortable regardless – ideal for squatting on the Dax for hours on end CE certification is AA and the armour (hip and knee) is level 2 Heated kit has become essential winter gear for me as I can wear fewer layers and feel less trussed up than in the ‘good old days’ when I used to shove an MCN down my front to stay warm for the mid layer I plumped for a Macna Ascent heated jacket which I hooked direct to the bike’s battery This had the added advantage of being able to power a pair of their Rafino RTX heated gloves for the journey as well as an auxiliary battery pack so I could keep warm when I got there too Fox’s Defend boots have been a firm favourite of mine since I picked up a pair at the end of last summer summer The military/walking boot design makes them as comfortable on the bike as off so it didn’t take too much thought to slip into those They’re mid height with a Gore-Tex membrane and D3O inserts and have the higher CE rating of 2 across the board but it’s actually a complex laminate with triple layer Free NewsletterUK Join the newsletter that everyone in finance secretly reads as the DAX index rose by 2.62% – sparked by upbeat manufacturing data showing output at a 37-month high For markets: German optimism meets global uncertainty. The DAX index's surge signifies investor optimism about Germany's manufacturing gains. Nonetheless, potential US tariffs cast a shadow, especially for exporters. This suggests investors should tread carefully when eyeing the European market: although current sentiment is positive, future trade relations and costs demand close attention. The bigger picture: Trade tensions and economic resilience. The rise in German stocks, despite international tensions, highlights the complex interplay between national economic success and global trade policies. Germany's manufacturing prowess shows resilience, yet the looming threat of US tariffs means businesses and policymakers must navigate potential economic headwinds with care. These factors could significantly influence not only Germany's economy but also the broader EU trade landscape. I’m creating a child who won’t be able to deal with the world Free-range parenting is a philosophy that emphasizes free play increased independence and limited parental intervention Advocates of the practice argue constant supervision restricts a child’s natural process developing resilience and encourages children to problem solve without direct supervision Lenore Skenazy, the author of “Free-Range Kids: How Parents and Teachers Can Let Go and Let Grow,” said in a 2020 Armchair Expert episode that constant parental intervention is a “disempowering “There's something lost to the kids when they are constantly under surveillance and constantly helped and assisted and supervised,” says Skenazy Shepard says he had an “inordinate amount of free time and responsibility” as a child and started working in cornfields at 12 years old in the summer which he says makes him predisposed to embracing the “anti helicopter” parenting movement Proponents of protective parenting argue free-range parenting increases the risk children encounter danger and can result in neglect when children are improperly supervised. innovative technology will transform the way we deliver care by improving documentation efficiency allowing our clinicians to focus more on what truly matters — patient care.  Initially DAX Copilot will be available for clinicians in ambulatory and emergency department settings. DAX Copilot is an ambient AI-driven scribe solution embedded in Epic capturing patient-clinician conversations and creating high-quality clinical documentation in real time This means: • Less time charting: Reducing documentation burden for clinicians. • Improved efficiency: Enhancing workflow and minimizing after-hours documentation. • Enhanced patient experience: Allowing clinicians to engage with patients more fully.   VUMC began piloting DAX Copilot in March 2024 with 10 ambulatory users the pilot has expanded to include 54 ambulatory clinicians from multiple specialties and 37 emergency department clinicians Pilot users provided feedback to VUMC and Microsoft about their use of the product the top-utilizing clinicians across multiple specialties saw decreased pajama and overall documentation time These same clinicians also saw an increase in appointments closed the same day Pilot user feedback was instrumental in demonstrating the value of this solution to our clinicians and was used to inform VUMC’s decision to invest in this technology “VUMC’s commitment to improving the quality and efficiency of patient care means utilizing leading health care technologies,” said Dara Mize assistant professor of Biomedical Informatics and Medicine and Chief Medical Information Officer  “We’re excited to be able to expand access to this technology to our clinicians so they can spend less time in the EHR and more time on the things that are important to them.”   DAX Copilot currently fifth-year option on cornerback Dax Hill putting him under contract through the 2026 season The deadline for teams to pick up the option year on first-round picks from the 2022 draft is Thursday He is coming back from a torn ACL in his right knee that occurred in Cincinnati's overtime loss to Baltimore in Week 5 last season “I’m really excited about Dax’s future,” coach Zac Taylor said in a statement “We see an ascending player who attacks each day the right way I can’t wait to see him back on the field making plays for us this season.” Hill was listed as a safety his first two seasons in the league before moving to cornerback last season He has 2 1/2 sacks and two interceptions in 37 games Hill will earn $12.68 million in 2026 with the Bengals picking up the option The Newsday app makes it easier to access content without having to log in Unlimited Digital AccessOnly 25¢for 6 months The Cincinnati Bengals plan to exercise their fifth-year option on 2022 first-round pick cornerback Dax Hill, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler it gives the team and Hill an additional year together without agreeing to a contract extension Hill will be under contract with the Bengals through the 2026 season on a pre-determined salary The NFL allows this option for teams for only first-round picks and the fifth-year option was created to give teams one more season of control over their first-round pick Hill’s salary for the 2026 season is projected to be $12.682 million, according to OverTheCap.com 31 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of the University of Michigan the team knows what they have with the player and it's an easy decision to pick up the fifth-year option The situation with Hill is complicated for a number of reasons Dax Hill history with the Cincinnati BengalsWhen the Bengals selected Hill the vision was for him to be Jessie Bates’ replacement It was clear the Bengals and Bates were going to be going their separate ways after the season and Hill was picked to be the future at the position Hill started in two games in the 2022 season while sitting behind Bates in his first season The 2023 season was always the year planned by all for Hill to take over as the full-time starter Hill’s first year as a starter didn’t go as planned He was inconsistent and the Bengals’ play in the secondary reflected a disconnect at the safety position alongside Nick Scott who was benched in the middle of the season and then cut following the year Hill struggled to be able to communicate and often failed to make plays in coverage when needed The Bengals went out and signed safety Geno Stone to replace Hill as their free safety Dax Hill move to cornerbackAfter the 2023 season coach Zac Taylor moved Hill to cornerback where he battled DJ Turner for a starting spot during training camp “We think it's the best opportunity right now to help our team,” Taylor said in April of 2024 Hill excelled in his position switch to outside cornerback during the offseason and training camp He beat Turner out for the starting role and played on the opposite side of Cam Taylor-Britt Hill appeared to have found his home as an outside cornerback in the NFL and was Cincinnati’s best cover cornerback last season until he suffered a torn ACL limiting him to just five games This is why the Bengals’ decision on Hill’s future is multifaceted but now we know they'll have the next two seasons to figure it out will the Bengals keep him at outside cornerback where he was playing his best football Or will defensive coordinator Al Golden move Hill to nickel cornerback where Mike Hilton served as the team’s starter for the last three seasons The team is high on second-year cornerback Josh Newton and his best home appears to be inside at slot cornerback He will enter the offseason program with a chance to win the starting spot DJ Turner for cornerback positionCincinnati’s No 2 starting cornerback spot is up for grabs again this season Turner has yet to prove he can stay healthy for the full season after his season was also cut short last year due to injury The ideal situation for the Bengals would likely be to have Cam Taylor-Britt Turner and Hill all competing again for starting jobs outside and Newton winning the job inside There’s also this question: If Hill doesn't return with the same speed and athleticism the Bengals need to give Hill a clear direction on where his home is going to be Paying Hill almost $13 million to be a slot cornerback would be expensive for the position That’s why it seems like the most logical thing for the Bengals to do is to give Hill a chance to get comfortable playing outside and keep him there for the next two seasons if they do pick up his option Most No.1 outside cornerbacks in the NFL make north of $20 million on an average annual basis If Hill ends up returning to the form he was playing at before injuring his knee There’s no question about Hill’s talent and what he can bring to the Bengals’ defense when healthy and in the right position The Bengals owe themselves and Hill the opportunity to find out where he truly belongs in the NFL MLS pundit Dax McCarty released his early Best XI for of the unintended consequences of healthcare innovation With more tools for physicians to use and greater demands on their time technology can easily become a barrier between the clinician and the patient in 2023 approximately 53% of physicians surveyed by Medscape reported feeling burned out bureaucratic demands and loss of work-life balance due to administrative requirements are leading causes Our mission has always been to help clinicians turn their chairs around by providing the support they need to fully focus their attention on delivering care and we’ve translated that goal into reality After establishing the ambient technology category the first generative AI voice-enabled solution which has been generally available for one year DAX Copilot leverages health systems’ existing investments in the trusted family of Dragon Medical solutions which is used by more than 600,000 clinicians worldwide DAX Copilot combines proven conversational and ambient AI with generative AI to automatically convert multiparty conversations into specialty-specific standardized draft clinical summaries that integrate with existing workflows DAX Copilot was the first ambient solution to be integrated into the Epic electronic health record (EHR) workflow and allows clinicians to seamlessly document patient visits directly within the EHR more than 400 organizations have already embraced its revolutionary capabilities streamlining administrative tasks and lightening clinicians’ documentation workloads This transformative year has highlighted many of the ways we’re helping empower healthcare teams today and bringing joy back to practicing medicine for thousands of clinicians DAX Copilot is helping Northwestern Medicine in Chicago improve patient access to care with physicians using the solution in at least 50% of patient encounters and able to see an average of 11.3 additional patients per month DAX Copilot users at Northwestern Medicine also report spending an average of 24% less time on notes and a 17% decrease in “pajama time,” working on administrative tasks late into the night “Northwestern Medicine is committed to providing a superior work environment that promotes well-being and implementing DAX Copilot will allow our physicians to spend more quality time with our patients focusing on their needs rather than on paperwork and data entry,” says Dr Overlake Medical Center & Clinics in Bellevue deployed DAX Copilot to help reduce after-hours documentation time and equip its clinicians with tools to manage escalating demands A pilot with 30 Overlake clinicians saw a significant reduction in time spent on notes outside of scheduled hours Users also reported other important benefits: 81% said DAX Copilot had reduced their cognitive burden and 77% said the solution had improved the quality of their documentation At Atrium Health “DAX Copilot is enabling a better clinician experience,” says Dr senior medical director of primary care at Atrium Health “Most of our surveyed users are reporting a positive impact on their day-to-day schedule being able to increase the number of patients they are able to see and even spending more time with them.” Atrium Health isn’t alone in finding that the time saved on documentation with DAX Copilot is having a positive impact on clinicians’ quality of life. “I finally have weekends back,” says Dr. Christy Chan, a family medicine physician at Overlake “I used to always have to worry that there was something I had to do — get back onto the EMR log back in — but I actually have some weekends back.” Clinicians at Novant Health are experiencing similar benefits “DAX Copilot has done an amazing thing for the physicians and clinicians who are currently using it,” says Dr “When you hear a comment like ‘I am now able to do things with my daughter in the evenings and weekends that I couldn’t do before,’ nothing satisfies us more than knowing the impact DAX is having on our clinicians.” Community Health Network places a major focus on clinician well-being and implementing DAX Copilot has had a major impact on its clinicians’ ability to close notes before they leave for the day I have not left clinic with an open note,” says Dr chief transformation officer for Community Health Network it’s really the clinician satisfaction that we’ve seen It transforms how we’re able to deliver care and how we’re able to document it It also transforms the patient experience.” “DAX Copilot has made my professional life easier My patients have also benefited from my using Nuance DAX during our appointments I can be right there with the patient and not furiously writing notes I cannot thank you enough,” said Anita M Dr. Dominick Lanzo, an orthopedic surgeon at Greater Baltimore Medical Center “Once I introduced the DAX Copilot program it completely transformed the patient experience and it’s turned out to be incredibly accurate with regards to the history of present illness and the physical exam,” he says “It’s made my practice much more efficient and they’re done in a timely fashion by the end of the afternoon.” For Dr. Alison Pomykala, an internal medicine specialist at Baptist Medical Group the integration of DAX Copilot with the Epic EHR is particularly valuable “The thing I like most about DAX Copilot embedded in the Epic workflow is I’m able to focus more on the patient and I’m spending less time in the exam room typing on the computer,” she says “I think the interface is wonderful with Epic It has been great to see the notes coming up basically in real time on the Epic system That’s also helped with other things: where we needed to generate a note quickly for referrals or to have a complete note ready for a patient that we’re sending to the hospital.” integrating DAX Copilot has revolutionized patient care,” says Dr co-president and CEO at Cooper University Health Care “By automating clinical documentation through ambient voice technology it has significantly reduced administrative workloads This allows our physicians to focus on real-time patient interactions leading to better care outcomes and increased job satisfaction DAX Copilot has not only improved efficiency but has also empowered our team to spend more time where it matters most — caring for patients.” It’s a privilege to see this industry-leading solution make a meaningful
