Bruce started out fencing at the age of 13 in school, but only after being convinced by a teacher to try it. When he got into fencing, he discovered that it not only was about physical training, but giving the brain some exercise as well.
Eleven years ago, Dickinson was diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer after doctors discovered a golf ball-size tumor on his tongue and another in the lymph node on the right side of his neck.
The singer got the all-clear in May 2015 after radiation and nine weeks of chemotherapy and later covered his cancer battle in his 2017 autobiography, "What Does This Button Do?"
Dickinson joined IRON MAIDEN in 1981, replacing Paul Di'Anno, and made his recording debut with the band on the 1982 album "The Number Of The Beast". He quit the band in 1993, pursuing several solo projects, and rejoined in 1999.
Dickinson, who turned 66 last August, has several other interests beyond music. He is a licensed commercial pilot and owns an aviation company. He has also done some acting and brewed beer.

The musician competed for Great Britain in the event
Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson has competed for Great Britain in the ‘veterans’ category at the ‘Circuit Européen’ fencing tournament in Faches-Thumesnil.
The musician won the first round 10/4 against Denmark’s Jeiner Simon and finished 13th in the overall standings out of 31 fencers in the category.
Dickinson first started fencing as a teenager in school and has many other interests outside of music, including acting. He is also a licensed commercial pilot and owns an aviation company. When he’s not doing that, he’s also known to brew beer.

Last month, Dickinson teased that the band will “be doing stuff we’ve never
ever done before” during their forthcoming tour
The band shared a YouTube video on New Year’s Eve (December 31) that saw Dickinson bidding 2024 farewell and giving fans an update on what they can look forward to in 2025, especially their ‘Run For Your Lives’ tour which is set to kick off in May
but I don’t need that anymore now because 2025 is gonna be something special,” the vocalist began
’cause basically the tour is sold out already.”
He continued: “So for those of you who have bought tickets
It’s gonna roll into 2026 ’cause there’s parts of the world that we need to get to that we can’t get to in 2025
In other news, Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith’s Malibu home was recently destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires.

the oil and gas giant that operates a third of France's service stations
announced on Tuesday morning that it would be extending its €1.99 per litre fuel price cap
The cap means fuel at its filling stations cannot go over €1.99 per litre - at present the average price per litre for petrol is €1.96 and €1.92 for diesel
The extension will affect all of TotalEnergies' 3,400 French fuel stations
and it will remain in place "beyond the end of 2023
according to a press release published by the oil and gas giant
The price cap of €1.99 per litre for Sp-95, Sp-98 and diesel fuels was originally introduced in February 2023
and as of mid-September it was only in effect at 2,600 of TotalEnergies' stations
TotalEnergies' decision to extend its price cap came after the minister of economy
called on fuel suppliers to "make an effort to show solidarity" in the face of rising prices
The announcement came a few weeks after another one of France's other fuel suppliers
which operates 1,500 stations across the country
opted to sell fuel at cost price during the final weekend of August
responded to TotalEnergies' announcement during an interview with French radio channel RMC on Tuesday morning
She told RMC that she expected there to be "more announcements to come" and that she was was in contact with other "major retailers
adding that she "expects other fuel suppliers and distributors to do the same"
This is not the first time TotalEnergies has aided motorists with the price of fuel
the company joined the French government in offering fuel rebates directly at the pump
with discounts first amounting to €0.20 off the litre and later down to €0.10 off the litre
Both the government rebate and the TotalEnergies rebate terminated at the end of 2022
the price of fuel had been on the rise in France
in part caused by production decreases in Saudi Arabia and Russia
