A few weeks ago, a Steam page randomly showed up for Limited Run Games’ upcoming Gex Trilogy
a remastered (ported?) collection of beloved retro titles starring everyone’s favorite radical ‘90s gecko
The imminent compilation rounds up the first 2D Gex (1995)—the weakest of the bunch
if you ask me—as well as the two subsequent 3D sequels
Gex: Enter the Gecko (1998) and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko (1999)
Strange to think that an IP which humbly began on Panasonic’s ill-fated 3DO console is seeing a resurrection on modern platforms
Us geriatric millennials sure do love our nostalgia
But speaking of release dates, the Steam listing doesn’t show one, and even Limited Run’s website has the game logged as COMING SOON
We’ve technically know about the Gex Trilogy happening for at least a year and a half
as the reveal trailer was posted back in July of 2023
The video leaned hard into Gex 3’s James Bond-esque aesthetic
stating how you “can always rely on the classics.” I guess what you can’t rely on are the classics hitting digital and physical stores anytime soon
Below is the trilogy’s description from its new Steam page
and as the previously linked Time Extension article says
it looks as if Limited Run is going with the Dana Gould voiceover versions of Gex
although maybe there will be a toggle option so we can additionally experience the UK voice actors
Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase
Things are about to get weirder than the 4th of July at Rick James' place
channel-surfing gecko is back in a collection that features all of his best-selling adventures
GEX Trilogy includes the original 2D platformer
and the two 3D sequels: GEX: Enter the Gecko & GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko —but these aren't just re-runs
This Carbon Engine powered collection includes extras and numerous improvements like that bring GEX back into prime time
Judging by past Limited Run titles that utilize the software emulation Carbon Engine (Tomba!
I think we know pretty much what to expect here: Save states
the ability to rewind gameplay and other quality-of-life extras
plus maybe some fun behind-the-scenes bits
game art and perhaps some developer interviews
The upcoming Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster certainly comes to mind here
with its extensive Crocipedia/Crocumentary features
the Gex Trilogy won’t be getting the same loving graphical and control overhaul that Croc has enjoyed; these will essentially be the same Gex games we all played back in the '90s
only now compatible with current consoles and systems
Think one-for-one emulation with a sprinkling of current-day additions
I’ve long been a fan of these run-and-jump titles, and even went so far as to chat with a few developers who worked on the games. It was for a massive 2017 Retro Gamer feature I called The History of Gex (issue #167)
There’s lots of fascinating info in those pages
like the cancelled Gex Team Racing/Eidos All-Stars (with Raziel
God forbid Retro Gamer ever digitize their entire catalog and put it online
Gex may have never reached the heights of Crash Bandicoot or Mario
he definitely holds a special place in gaming lore
even if his presence simply reminds us of just how many mascot platformers existed in the decade that birthed the Backstreet Boys
I’ve messaged Limited Run to inquire about the status of the Gex Trilogy
I’d say we’re going to hear more about a potential launch date pretty soon
you could head over to Ebay today and pick up relatively cheap disc copies of these games
and there’s always the morally and legally gray emulation route
But if you’re looking to play Crystal Dynamics’ classic TV-inspired adventures
I do wonder if Dana Gould be be down to reprise his reptilian role for a possible Gex 4—it sounds like he actually recorded fresh dialogue for the recent trailers
the collection will come to Nintendo Switch

"Note to self: don't drink the water at Bill Cosby's house."
Why are so many bad to mediocre platformers getting remasters when Einhander
Terra Diver and so many legit amazing games still stuck on 30 year old consoles
are you suggesting that Gex is a “bad to mediocre platformer”
We do not talk ill of the Gex in this house
& Terra Diver don't have classic 90s references though
I like platforms and might eventually pick it up
Are these straight ports or did they improve on graphics
They're emulated games running on the Carbon Engine
but we should get some updates like camera controls
Limited Run has dropped a new video teaser showing off its upcoming release of Gex Trilogy
The trilogy - which bundles the original PS1 2D platformer
and the two 3D sequels: Gex: Enter the Gecko & Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko - aren't "just" re-releases
but include a number of extras and improvements to "bring Gex back into prime time"
and behind-the-scenes content including classic adverts
and an exclusive interview with Dana Gould
You can see Gex in action in the teaser below:
"Things are about to get weirder than the 4th of July at Rick James' place

Whilst there's no firm release date as yet
Gex Trilogy is expected to release in summer/Q3 2025 for Nintendo Switch
ICYMI, previously unseen footage from a demo for an unannounced Gex sequel made the rounds back in 2022
The footage showed a character named Gex Jr
making his way through what appears to be a cinema
jumps from screen to popcorn machine and on to yet another screen (one of which appears to show Gex from Crystal Dynamics' original games)
all while chugging down cans of fizzy soda and making some pretty dated references

A Steam page has now appeared for Limited Run Games' upcoming Gex Trilogy, as spotted by gaming publication Gematsu
Gex Trilogy was first announced back in July 2023 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch, and is set to feature GEX, Gex: Enter the Gecko, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko
The first of these was originally released for the early 32-bit platform the 3DO in 1995
before making their way over to other platforms
As is the case with most Limited Run Games releases
the collection is set to take advantage of the company's Carbon Engine
introducing additional features like rewinds and save states
with the new Steam page simply listing the title as "Coming Soon"
the copy used to describe the individual games on the Steam page seems to be taken wholesale from the packaging for the original US releases
and exclusively names the comedian Dana Gould as the actor voicing the titular Gecko
This could potentially be significant as the UK/European versions of the second and third games in the series featured different voice actors for the lead character
with the Carry On star Leslie Phillips voicing the character in Gex: Enter the Gecko
while Red Dwarf's Danny John-Jules ended up taking over the role in Gex 3
Limited Run Games so far hasn't commented on whether the new collection will include these localized versions of the character
we've reached out to the developer to try to get a definitive answer and will update this article once we hear back
Phillips appeared in multiple Carry On films and also played the voice of Gex in the UK

Jack has a particular fondness for point-and-click adventure games
he’s written about lost games from studios like Sony Manchester
and has made a habit of debunking video game rumours
Been waiting for an update on this awhile now
I just hope they able to use the voice actors from the UK version as well
I'm still waiting for croc even tho I ordered it in November
I plan on grabbing this too buy I hope it doesn't get delayed or anything like croc has been
@Kurokage Same
I don't care much about Gex 2's UK voice actor
but Danny John Jules did a fantastic job in the UK version of Gex 3
who's just phoning it in by that point
they'd probably just use the US PS1 versions and call it a day
as getting the rights to the UK voice actors likely cost extra
@Crecca Croc as well
If Croc and Gex Trilogy have been delayed I guess I shouldn't expect any new about the Tomba 2 remaster any time soon
@PKDuckman The first Gex game I played was Gex 2
so the voice actor in that game really stood out as did Danny's in Gex 3
Is there any way fans of the game can make some noise about this so they do include the UK voice actors
I'm sure gamers all over would enjoy hearing the differences
@Kurokage I'd probably contact LRG or the voice actors directly through social media
to let them know that there's a demand for their takes on Gex
there's always the possibility of someone modding the PC version so that the voice acting could be changed
I advise people to not purchase anything from them
@Kurokage yeah no word on what's going on with croc but I've been waiting
This and croc are going to feel so good with the 30th anniversary duelsense
It's odd that croc got delayed especially after my life in gaming had a few hours of love streams with the development team
The comments section did get some eagle eye fans pointing out some flaws mainly around the UI and animations being off so it's possible they delayed it to get everything right out of the box
However given the physical edition wasn't printing until late 25 it could of always been planned
As for gex I think this one was just announced to early and was in line behind some of remasters
I do hope they include the UK voice actors as an option
@slider1983 Same
To here Gex say in that campy British voice 'Have some of my tongue darling!' again will be awesome
Hold on there, you need to login to post a comment..

Back when games starring anthropomorphic creatures were all the rage
there was a gecko named Gex who had an entire trilogy
this same trilogy is set to make a return on modern platforms this year
A new trailer has been released and it confirms this new collection - powered by Limited Run's Carbon Engine - will be releasing for multiple systems including the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2025
this package includes the original 2D platformer GEX (1995)
and the two 3D sequels: GEX: Enter the Gecko (1998) and GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko (1999)
channel-surfing gecko is back in a collection that features all of his best-selling adventures!"
the trilogy will come with various extras and numerous improvements including the ability to "rewind and save anywhere" to keep Gex's adventure flowing
It will also come with "native widescreen" support
You can find out a little bit more about Gex's upcoming trilogy in our previous stories here on Nintendo Life:
Will you be reliving this collection when it arrives later this year
Did you play the original games back in the day
Liam is a news writer and reviewer for Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox
He's been writing about games for more than 15 years and is a lifelong fan of Mario and Master Chief
Rented a couple of the games back in the day so I'm good for life there but it is interesting how the AVGN episode for this just dropped
I know he's pretty much just a shell anymore outsourcing most aspects and doing it to pay the bills (no disrespect
makes me wonder if his show is now a place companies are paying for exposure
please do yourself a favor and look up Dunkey's video on Gex from 4 years ago
I have held off on the PS1 versions on PS3/Vita going well might as well wait for these then
If they are more worth it I might as well and skip these
Still the PS1 versions on Switch would be nice
Never played the games but have looked into each version of the games before through research
No widescreen for Gex 1 is interesting why
Or unable to of how it'd presents it's 2D form then 3D ones
If fans can mod old games with widescreen well why not here
The engine better be good though to handle them
no interest in some limited physical copies at all
4 games to play of old platforming goodness regardless of how aged
@Nightwalker I remember watching a video that compared Gex (1995) of the Saturn ver & the PS1
Oh man I love Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash and Chibi Robo Zip Lash!
Now if only Jersey Devil could get revived…
We're turning this Gex night into a Gex YEAR!!
(Insert obligatory Scott the Woz reference here)
but nostalgia alone isn’t enough to make these old games look even remotely playable to me.
would love a new game with modern world graphics/controls/physics.
even Dead Space couldn’t be remastered well enough to not hurt my eyes and it was a PS3 game remastered for PS5 💀
It goes without saying but I’m gonna say it anyway.
I hope the fan base for this pixelated mess is everything retro lovers want and need.
Gex will ALWAYS hold a place in my nostalgic heart but I just can’t get on board with 30yo graphics
I hope it includes the British and Australian voices for enter the gecko
I remember trying Gex on a Panasonic 3DO demo unit
I feel like I'm trapped in Boy George's pants" and "This place smells like ducks" in the Kung Fu level ain't gonna fly today
when I think back on my experiences with these games as a kid
it feels like a mixer of an acid trip and a blur
but I can't recall all of the details years later
I still own the Trilogy but I haven't played it in years
Rewind and save anywhere are making this very appealing
@rvcolem1 You could already play Vectorman on modern consoles
both Vectorman 1 & 2 are playable on PS4
and Switch through multiple Sega collections
Besides Vectorman doesn't had a trilogy yet
@Dee123 They really should just release them as they are (maybe with some kind of disclaimer that people used to laugh at things)
Literally there are 3 games I want as a switch owner (who intends to buy a switch 2) to the point that announcement are a little silly
I replayed Enter the Gecko and Gex 3 on PSP a few years ago
If you’ve never played them and love 3D platformers they could be worth a go but to me both when I first played them and when I replayed them they really just felt like the most just average 3D Platformers
I do enjoy 3D platformers and Gex looks cool
Isn't it weird how long it's taken for these 90's rereleases to come out
Croc mysteriously got delayed at the last minute
but time is running out; I've seen other listings saying Q2
Gex was announced a pretty good while ago and is still several months out
There's also a Bubsy collection we haven't heard anything about since it was announced
The announcement-to-release window for these B-tier (or
C or D-tier) platformers should probably be a lot shorter
Looking forward to playing them all for the first time
I grew up on games like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
so I have a real soft spot for the less-popular platformers of the 90's and early 2000's
But only if they refrain from censoring his lines
The sharp humor is one of the biggest selling points
@Zealv2 Is it that bad
@Coalescence Nothing on social media is as it seems at face value
Love to see this getting a release date even if a kind of generic one
looking forward to it to finally give Gex a try myself
Combined with 3D collectathon platformers being my favorite game genre; so I will definitely pick this remake up
I have question about the versions in this collection
is it the 3DO version that includes a saving system or the PS1/Saturn that has a password system
I think we are getting the PC (CD-Roms) versions due to what I can conclude from looking at the footage in the trailer
We would get the quality graphics of the N64 and the FMVs of the PS1
Are they fixing the camera? Even for the time, the 3D Gex's had a terrible camera. Could be fun games if they touch that up.@LikelySatan I don't like seeing games censored
but I would honestly enjoy these more if most of his in game diaogue was cut out
Another "even for the time" issue
his one-liners were a glass bottle of pure
distilled cringe that repeated way too often
@KoiTenchi In historical context
there wasn't really a whole lot out there when Enter the Gecko launched (1998).Yes
But the PlayStation was still starved for even "the most just average 3D Platformer".Crash 1 and 2 were out but those weren't quite full 3D
were they?I know Spyro wasn't too far off but I think it was still after Enter the Gecko
@KingMike That’s true for the time period and I definitely feel there were a lot of very average 3D platformers on PS1 at the time
I totally missed these back in the day so I’m super excited about this one
@NeonPizza The original Gex was a 3DO original
That was also a console with not a whole lot of headline titles.Though it is interesting you mention Rayman
an original for the other troubled console at the time
Though I'm not quite sure of the development plan for that
We do know and have seen a leak of a one-level demo for the SNES
but I'm not sure if Ubisoft planned to release it on multiple consoles when they moved it up to the 32-bit range
@NeonPizza It's easier to say in retrospect since the PlayStation model we're used to now
but I suspect part of the thing wrong with 3DO was its plan to license its hardware to manufacturers that didn't plan to support it with software
I recall Panasonic didn't originally plan to publish games
so therefore the skyhigh price was because they needed to turn a profit on the hardware (different than the MSX hardware Panasonic had sold before
That was a computer that people could make their own software and so would've surely had more value to the consumer than a game console that can only play authorized commercially-written software.)

Video Game News 27th Feb 2025 / 7:06 pm Posted by Chris ScullionA new trailer for Gex Trilogy confirms that the game is planned to release this summer
While no specific release date has yet been announced, the latest trailer from publisher Limited Run Games gives a summer 2025 release window
contains all three games in the Gex series of action platformers released during the PS1 era
The games are being released via Limited Run’s Carbon Engine
a development tool that helps create emulation-based ports of classic games for modern hardware
It will be released in both digital and physical versions
Gex Trilogy adds save state and rewind options for all three games
as well as new widescreen support for the second and third games
a Media Player with promotional material and artwork
the comedian who voiced Gex in the North American versions of the game (in the UK he was voiced by Leslie Phillips and Danny John-Jules)
Developed by Crystal Dynamics
the platform game series starring the titular anthropomorphic gecko called Gex comprised of three games released between 1995 and 1999
3DO and PC and saw the titular gecko travelling through the Media Dimension
exploring five themed TV channels in an attempt to defeat the evil overlord Rez
The sequel Gex: Enter the Gecko was released on PS1, N64 and PC and shifted the gameplay to a 3D platform engine
with Rez once again travelling through TV-based worlds taking such themes as children’s cartoons
Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko was released on PS1 and N64 and has Gex returning on the Media Dimension one more time to rescue his (human) girlfriend Agent Xtra

The original Gex game was included as a pack-in with the short-lived multimedia system 3DO, and is one of the failed format’s better remembered games. Of course, the release would later be ported to the PS1, and its subsequent 3D sequels Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko led on PlayStation
And now the entire Gex Trilogy is coming to PS5 this summer, courtesy of Limited Run Games’ emulation Carbon Engine. It looks like the previously announced PS4 version has been cancelled
All three games will be playable in their entirety with modern day improvements like native widescreen
although this feature obviously isn’t available in the first title as it uses hand-rendered backgrounds fixed to its original aspect ratio
The Gex series had some all-star talent working on it over the years, including Glen Schofield of Dead Space fame and both Evan Wells and Bruce Straley from Naughty Dog
Comedian Dana Gould also served as a writer and voice actor on the releases
While these aren’t the best games from the 32-bit era
it’s always good to see classics like this preserved on modern platforms
We’ll certainly be revisiting these laugh out loud 90s classics

Sammy has over 15 years of experience analysing the world of PlayStation
from PS3 through PS5 and everything in between
He’s an expert on PS Studios and industry matters
He also enjoys RPGs when he has the time to dedicate to them
there will be the inevitable Scott the Woz episode about Gex with his friends
playing as amateur actors and singing some weird Gex song
He‘d rather spend his time in more informative content
It was Leslie Phillips and then Danny John-Jules doing Gex's voice in the UK for 2 and 3
I was obsessed with 3D platform games in the mid to late 90s these were far the best but also far from the worst
I'll check these out at some point I'm sure
I always remember there was a guy you could talk to if you’d lost a quest breaking item and you could say “I’ve lost it”
I was hoping for an HD texture treatment like the Tomb Raider trilogies ..
gonna spend my 19,99 in a different way then
I think the avgn review already took care of my nostalgia
I have fond memories of playing Gex on ps1
Will look forward to these being added to PS Plus Premium one day
Limited Run Games will price their physical versions of this collection very fair and provide us with high quality merchandise
@Oram77 no date specified
They delayed it from Dec 24 and are now practically radio silent
I hope I'm wrong but don't think we'll see it before May or June at earliest
@Oram77 They actually emailed me yesterday and said this:
with an expected shipping window of Q2 2025 (April–June)
My wife referenced this Gex 2 last weekend
And here we are getting news for it less than a week later
@rusty82 That will mean another delay to Q2
Just glad they delayed it to continue work on it
This place is weirder than 4th of July at Rick James' place
@tameshiyaku I'm with ya
Got my fix of Gex watching that new AVGN vid
I really hope they fix the camera for the 3D games
if this aint got the uk voices for gex 2 and 3 im gonna be extremly *******d off SOME OF US dont live in fairy land usa !!
@breakneck thats not what you said on facebook otherday -_-
@rusty82 ifi the uk voices aint in this re release im gonna be more angry then a (deleted Person ) that lost his wig in the usa
It’s a shame Square Enix held on to these and therefore Limited Run are porting them
If Gex had stayed with Crystal Dynamics then Sabre could have done a far better job like the Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain collections

precisely adhering to the standard ATX dimensions as specified by the ATX design guide
This compact size is impressive for a 1000W unit
making it compatible with a wide range of ATX-compliant cases - however
it also limits the size of the cooling fan and affects thermal performance
(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)The GEX X2 features a sleek matte black finish that gives it a refined and durable appearance
The fan cutout on the top side is distinguished by a unique tile design that incorporates Cougar's logo
adding a subtle yet distinctive touch to the PSU's overall aesthetic
both the left and right sides are adorned with stickers detailing the electrical specifications and certifications of the unit
as if Cougar really wanted these to be visible from the side of the PC case regardless of the mounting orientation
The front side of the PSU includes the standard on/off switch and AC power receptacle
This unit does have a zero-RPM fan mode but there is no switch to turn it off completely
The rear side is dedicated to the modular cable connectors
with a very subtle legend printed next to them
The Cougar GEX X2 1000W PSU is equipped with a DWPH EFH-12E12H 120 mm fan
which features some kind of sleeve bearing engine
Although the specific technical details of this fan cannot be found online
it is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 2300 RPM
DWPH is a company whose products we almost never find in PC PSUs but they are a seasoned manufacturer of DC fans
The GEX X2 1000W is produced by Huizhou Xinhuiyuan, a rising OEM that has recently made significant strides in the PC power supply market. We usually encounter their platforms in Cooler Master PSUs and this is the first time we saw one of their designs used by another company
(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)The internal design of the GEX X2 showcases proven topologies that emphasize on reliability
two rectifying bridges are mounted on their own heatsink to manage heat dissipation effectively
The Active Power Factor Correction (APFC) circuit includes two NCE 65TF099 MOSFETs and a diode

(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)The primary inversion stage employs four CS20N50F MOSFETs configured in a full-bridge LLC topology
with these components mounted on two substantial heatsinks in pairs to enhance thermal management
The secondary stage utilizes four CR Micro CRSM016N06L2 MOSFETs located on the underside of the PCB
which are responsible for generating the primary 12V line using a synchronous rectification topology
The 3.3V and 5V lines are derived from DC-to-DC conversion circuits situated on a vertical daughterboard
The electrolytic and polymer capacitors at the secondary side are of top quality from reputable Japanese manufacturers such as Nippon Chemi-Con

(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)During cold testing
the Cougar GEX X2 1000W PSU comfortably meets the 80Plus Gold certification requirements across different input voltages
the PSU achieves an average nominal load efficiency of 90.2%
which further improves to 91.8% when using a 230 VAC input
slightly earlier than typical PC PSU topologies
Although there is a 1.6% efficiency drop when using a 115 VAC input
the GEX X2 still exceeds the certification requirements
Its average efficiency is very high and the design could meet the 80Plus Platinum levels if it could improve its top efficiency at half load
its efficiency drops below 80% at very low loads
which is a common challenge for many PSUs relying on traditional topologies
The fan in the Cougar GEX X2 starts spinning at a relatively low load of around 200 Watts
slightly sooner than when the company suggests it would
ensuring adequate cooling without excessive noise at low-to-medium loads
The internal temperatures of the unit remain controlled
indicating good thermal management without running overly hot
the Cougar GEX X2 1000W PSU experiences a colossal decrease in efficiency under heavy loads
with efficiency figures dropping to 87.6% at 115 VAC and 89.1% at 230 VAC
compared to 90.2% and 91.8% during cold testing
An efficiency degradation of more than 2.5% is unexpected for a quality unit
Closer observation reveals that the efficiency drop is significantly greater when the unit is heavily loaded
suggesting thermal stress of the unit’s active components
(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)(Image credit: Tom's Hardware)In these hotter ambient conditions
the fan of the GEX X2 activates much sooner than during cold testing
starting at a low load of around 80 Watts and ramping up more quickly as the load increases
It reaches its maximum speed when the unit operates at about 90% capacity but the temperatures never get too high – as a matter of fact
The fan is quiet at first and the noise is tolerable up to medium loads
with the GEX X2 becoming intrusively loud only when it is continuously operating at above 75% capacity
The Cougar GEX X2 1000W PSU offers outstanding electrical performance
with several key features that set it apart
The unit demonstrates exceptional voltage regulation
maintaining the 5V and 3.3V rails at a mere 0.3% deviation
which is remarkable for a power supply of any caliber
The 1.2% regulation on the 12V rail is also very good but not as impressive
Manufacturers usually neglect the minor voltage lines and focus on the 12V line – it seems that the designer of this platform did not cut any corners
with measured maximum ripple values of 40 mV on the 12V line
These figures are well within industry standards
ensuring that the power delivered to your components is clean
Although these numbers might not be record-breaking
they are competitive with most products of similar tier and price range
we evaluate the essential protection features of every power supply unit we review
The Cougar GEX X2 1000W PSU successfully passed all critical protection tests without issue
The OCP settings for the 3.3V and 5V rails are set to activate at 128% and 126%
a little high considering their maximum power rating but not far from what we expected
The 12V rail’s OCP activates at 122%
a sharp setting for an ATX 3.0 compliant unit
possibly a deliberate choice to balance accommodation for the power surges common with today’s powerful graphics cards with assurance of the unit’s reliability
The Cougar GEX X2 1000W PSU is a fairly well-designed power supply that caters to modern gaming and workstation setups
particularly for users requiring a robust unit with support for the latest graphics cards
organized cable design make it an appealing option for builders looking for a sleek and functional PSU
making the GEX X2 especially competitive for ITX and custom system builds where space is at a premium
while its compact size makes it versatile for a range of applications
this also constrains the cooling capabilities and
with passive components sourced from reputable Japanese manufacturers
the choice of less familiar brands for the fan and active components introduces an element of uncertainty
particularly with its excellent voltage regulation across all rails
responsible for powering the most demanding components
while the 5V and 3.3V rails perform momentously better with minimal deviations of 0.3%
This level of precision is commendable and ensures stable power delivery
crucial for the reliability and longevity of high-performance systems
with maximum ripple values well within industry standards
with the unit achieving 90.2% efficiency at 115 VAC and 91.8% at 230 VAC
the unit's efficiency dropped to 87.6% at 115 VAC and 89.1% at 230 VAC during hot testing
suggesting that the GEX X2's components are under considerable thermal stress when operating under heavy loads in high ambient temperatures
The thermal and acoustic performance of the GEX X2 1000W PSU is a bit of a mixed bag
the fan begins to spin at a load of around 200W
one cannot argue that the cooling solution is highly effective
keeping internal temperatures within safe limits even while the unit is heavily stressed
The fan ramps up gradually and manages to cool the unit adequately
The noise level becomes intrusive only when the PSU operates above 75% capacity
which should not be of much importance to gamers but could deter workstation users
In conclusion, the Cougar GEX X2 1000W PSU is a capable and well-built power supply that delivers solid electrical performance with good voltage regulation and ripple suppression. However, although the performance results are generally very good, they do not set new benchmarks
the GEX X2 does not offer a clear advantage over other units in the same class
With an 80Plus Gold certification and its basic features being the compact design and compliance with the ATX 3.0 standard
its retail price of $170 places it at a challenging intersection between mainstream and premium markets
While the GEX X2 is a reliable and well-constructed PSU
its price-to-performance ratio may limit its appeal
particularly among budget-conscious consumers and enthusiasts who expect top-tier performance for the price they pay

I am responding to my friend Al Cross’ recent editorial opposing the amendment
It is ironic that Cross uses unsupported claims that advertisements for the amendment are unsupported by evidence
Adding to many other ridiculous speculations
he asserts the General Assembly would subsidize “dune buggies and expensive Lego sets” like he incorrectly claims was done in Arizona
there is strong evidence that education choice improves the performance of all students
including those in traditional public schools
A study released by the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) just this month shows that charter schools improve the performance of students who attend
and that increased competition improves the performance of nearby traditional public schools
PPI is no right-wing institution – as described on its website
PPI started as the intellectual birthplace of the New Democrat and ‘Third Way’ movements
earning a reputation as President Bill Clinton’s ‘idea mill.’”
PPI studied charter schools (such schools are public schools run by a private board subject to a “charter,” or contract
with voluntary enrollment and no tuition costs)
in ten cities with a high rate of charter school enrollment
cities that have aggressively expanded high-quality public school choices available to students have seen a true rising tide: Low-income students across these cities – whether they attend a public charter or district-operated school – have started to catch up to statewide student performance levels.”
cities serving majority low-income students with at least one-third enrolled in charter schools
low-income students citywide have made meaningful progress [25-40% improvement] toward achieving on par with students statewide.” These results are consistent with studies that motivated the General Assembly to place Amendment 2 on the ballot
Cross states “teacher pay has risen in Kentucky
but not enough to keep up with competing states.” He fails to acknowledge that those competing states with higher teacher pay have some form of parental choice in education
Cross’s own assertion is evidence that educational choice raises teacher salaries
Cross wants voters to vote “no” on amendment 2 to tell the General Assembly not to “go too far,” but fails to communicate:
All states contiguous to Kentucky have some form of education choice
44 states have charter schools enrolling a total of 3.7 million students
Hundreds of millions of dollars in annual federal funding supporting the development of such schools are being left for others by Kentucky
choice has been a normal part of the education landscape for families in many of our neighboring states
Cross speculates it is “too far,” but like teacher salaries – education innovation in other states is already leaving Kentucky students behind
The General Assembly previously passed tax credit scholarships for children of low- and middle-income families trapped in failing schools
but these efforts have been struck down as unconstitutional (tax credit scholarships) or are currently suspended by litigation (charter schools)
Amendment 2 simply enables the General Assembly to use its normal legislative process
including public input and regular elections
to catch up educationally with other states and tap into additional Federal funds
the Kentucky General Assembly will never subsidize “dune buggies and expensive Lego sets” and neither did Arizona lawmakers
Stateline reported some “tried” to buy those items – not that they were lawful to purchase
but available technology provides tighter fiscal controls than found in most Kentucky school districts
Amendment 2 supporters want to spark educational improvements for children in underperforming schools with school choice measures that are active in other states
Each child is unique and learns differently
and parents deserve educational choices that work for their child
please join me in voting “yes” on Amendment #2

"Our motto is 'Life with lives innovates future environments.' We set out our business with this strong belief in mind," says Mr. Hiroki. "The belief that the lives of animals enrich humans, and the lives of humans enrich animals."
The surge in pet ownership during the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of pets in people's lives, including healing, calming and emotional education benefits.
"During the period of the pandemic, consumers couldn’t go outside and needed to stay at home," Mr. Hiroki says. "Since people wanted to feel certain benefits that were hard to find, the demand for pets increased significantly."
Recognizing this trend, Gex has been actively pursuing international markets to expand its presence and create new partnerships.
"In the Southeast Asian market, we distribute our own brands through distributors," explains Mr. Hiroki. "Also, for the EU and North America, we have a partnership with Rolf C. Hagen Inc., based in Montreal, Canada, whereby we also distribute their global brands, EXOTERRA, CATIT and FLUVAL, in Japan.
"We find countries like India and Indonesia appealing for expansion," he adds, "where population growth is expected, and we can also predict the development of the pet industry. The United States, however, remains our largest market."
Innovation at Gex is driven by a team of passionate pet owners, with most of the staff members living with animals, and who really love being around animals. "It means that they seriously think about what customers want," says the president and CEO, who goes on to highlight that this dedication from the team has led to the development of award-winning products such as the All-In-One Aquarium, recognized for its ease of maintenance and animal-friendly features.
"By doing things like this, we can make customers happy and distribute something new to the industry," he adds.
"Conventionally, fish food is made with fish meal, and now we have replaced them with insect meal protein using black soldier fly larva," explains Mr. Hiroki, who adds that recycling efforts, turning broken glass aquariums into new glass products, have also garnered media attention.
Regarding initiative proposals, Gex is a strong supporter of pet ownership as a means to engage with green aspects of everyday life, and of connecting aquariums with education.
"We have promoted the idea that keeping pets provides opportunities to reflect on environmental issues and advocated that aquarium keeping is ideal for STEAM education," says Mr. Hiroki. "We conduct classes at kindergartens and elementary schools, and also support biology clubs at junior high and high schools."
A significant asset in Gex's global strategy is its Indonesia factory, LIMA TEKNO INDONESIA (LTI), established in 1996.
"Our factory in Indonesia was established as the core factory of the Gex Group," says Mr. Hiroki. Initially producing glass aquariums and air pumps, LTI began exporting to overseas markets in 2002. "Today, LTI integrates the Toyota Production System (TPS) to achieve efficient and high-quality manufacturing."
Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, LTI expanded its facility in 2022 and moving forward aims to deliver high-quality pet products not only for the domestic market but also to North America, Europe and Asia.
Gex is also at the forefront of technological advancements in pet care, focusing on electronic products and Internet of Things (IoT) innovations.
"Our strength lies in our know-how with electronic products for cats and dogs," says Mr. Hiroki. "Recently, we have been focused on IoT, such as Auto Feeders, which can be controlled by a mobile phone. We believe that this will be our competitive advantage going forward."
Entering new international markets with electronic products, however, presents its own set of challenges due to differing voltage standards. "We started producing DC-type products, which meet different electric standards," Mr. Hiroki explains. "It is our thought that by continuing these kinds of developments, we will be able to apply our products to the global market."
While e-commerce plays a significant role in Gex's business strategy, the company emphasizes the importance of balancing online and offline experiences.
"Consumers can shop at any time using e-commerce platforms, which is a huge benefit," says Mr. Hiroki. "But we also believe in the importance of retail locations. This is vital for allowing customers to visit and touch the animals." And as customer engagement remains a priority, Gex is looking to bridge the gap by operating its own customer center allowing after-sales follow-up.
As it ponders what lies ahead, Gex is clearly committed to encouraging more people worldwide to discover the feeling many already know that comes from sharing life with animals.
"I am confident in the goodness of every pet owner, and I aspire to inspire everyone to experience the joy and fulfillment that comes with living alongside an animal," says Mr. Hiroki, with thoughts of continued innovation and expansion, as he seeks new partnerships to bring Gex’s vision to a global audience.
"Although we might have good ideas, without the technology to manufacture this and partners to distribute the product, it will remain simply that: an idea," he says. "It is all thanks to our partners that we are able to get our product out into the world."
Gex Corporation is evolving from an aquarium maker into a global pet supplier, aiming to enrich human lives and protect the environment through innovative pet products and sustainable practices.

Gex Corporation is evolving from an aquarium maker into a global pet supplier
Japan has seen an increase in pet ownership catalyzed by a variety of factors
This primarily includes cats and dogs but also includes fish and other types of popular pets
Although there was a decrease in the number of new pets joining families after the pandemic
and why do you think pet ownership in Japan is increasing overall
children can learn a lot emotionally when taking care of a family pet
consumers couldn’t go outside and needed to stay at home
Since people wanted to feel the benefits I mentioned
the demand for pets increased significantly
but now I believe it has smoothed out a little bit
In correlation with the increase in pet ownership in Japan
the pet supplies market is expected to increase right alongside it
the global pet supplies market is expected to reach over USD 450 billion in 2024
and China representing the biggest market opportunities
What is your firm doing internationally to capitalize on global opportunities
we distribute our own brands through distributors
where we also distribute their global brand
are there any countries that look particularly appealing for expanding your business
The countries we find appealing are India and Indonesia
and we can also predict the development of the pet industry
the United States remains our largest market
your company initially focused on aquariums before introducing the industry’s first air pump series
it has expanded its offerings to include a wider range of pet products
the company is a comprehensive pet supplier
providing and specializing in the manufacturing development of aquariums and products for small animals
Can you talk about how your business has evolved over time and what some of your core values are
Our motto is “Life with lives innovates future environments.” We set out our business with this strong belief in mind: the belief that the lives of animals enrich humans
Our company has evolved from the maker of aquariums to the comprehensive maker of pet supplies
so they are a dangerous kind of product by nature
We have experienced various recalls of our products
we now believe that we are not dealing with pet supplies
we are supplying home appliances for humans
This is where we thought that we should enhance the quality of products to the same level as human equivalent products
there are a lot of experts in the pet supply industry
but we decided instead to invite people from home appliance and electronics makers as well as experts from Panasonic

Your All-In-One Aquarium is an innovative overflow aquarium equipped with a slide filtration system that improves maintenance and has an LED feature that creates a bright and vivid environment
making the aquarium look beautiful and reducing the light
which makes the product more animal friendly
This product was also the recipient of a 2023 Good Design award
receiving praise for its ease of maintenance
What sets the innovation of this product apart
and what competitive advantages in your manufacturing and development processes have enabled you to create award-winning products like this one
Most of our staff members live with animals
so it is clear that they really love being around animals
It also means that they seriously think about what customers want
all of us are trying to produce something creative
some companies that copy the other products and sell them at a cheaper price
but our goal is to add additional value to our products
we can make customers happy and distribute something new to the industry
Its name is derived from the word percolation
which is the process of liquid slowly moving through a substance
The product is designed to provide maximum comfort for the fish
What was the inspiration behind this product
and considering this product has made it to the second round of the Good Design Award
what do you believe are the benefits you will receive once you win
we have already received an award for this product
Speaking on the inspiration behind this product
we considered what potential customers might want from a product like this by combining the wants with the needs of existing customers
while conventional ones have everything inside
without the technology to manufacture this and partners to distribute the product
It is all thanks to our partners that we are able to get our product out into the world
the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
aiming to address socio-economic challenges and enhance environmental protections
the UN has the goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050
What initiatives have you introduced to reduce your environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable world
SDGs aren’t just something we are focusing on but also something we take very seriously
We are actively utilizing biomass in our product development
We like to think of ourselves as a pioneer in introducing this material for pet supplies
Biomass plastics are used in our pet drinking fountain “Pure Crystal” and Aquarium filter medias. As such we are replacing about 12 tons of material per year with biomass alternatives
we’ve also begun to focus on alternative food materials for pet food. Conventionally
and now we have replaced them with insect meal protein using black soldier fly larva
where we also use for our reptile foods.
In response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015
GEX has been fully committed to these goals since 2020
We believe that the best way to operate our business sustainably is by focusing on two key areas: what can be achieved through product development and what can be achieved through initiative proposals
we have adopted biomass resin for the plastic parts used in refills for aquarium filters and filter-type water dispensers for dogs and cats
we have been quick to adopt insect-based alternative proteins for fish
Our recycling efforts to regenerate broken glass aquariums into new glass products have also been featured in numerous media outlets
we have promoted the idea that keeping pets provides opportunities to reflect on environmental issues and advocated that aquarium keeping is ideal for STEAM education
We conduct classes at kindergartens and elementary schools
and also support biology clubs at junior high and high schools
you also offer a variety of items for cats and dogs
This includes your Pure Crystal Water Filter
which ensures clean water for both cats and dogs
What are your competitive advantages when developing products for both cats and dogs and what growth do you foresee in the cat and dog pet supplies industry not only in Japan but globally
Our strength lies in our know-how with electronic products for cats and dogs
We believe that this will be our competitive advantage going forward
Our company also has expertise in bacteria and bio-science
We are thinking about utilizing this expertise in the development of next-generation pet toiletry supplies
Have you seen any success with your electronic products in international markets
We are now challenging ourselves to enter new markets
but it has been very difficult with electronic products due to the voltage differences
which meet different electric standards. It is our thought that by continuing these kinds of developments
we will be able to apply our products to the global market
E-commerce has really begun driving growth in the pet supplies market as it has in most retail sectors
boosting sales and improving customer experiences through data-driven insights as well as expanding global reach
Your online shop that offers aquariums and products for cats and dogs demonstrates a strong commitment to leveraging these e-commerce opportunities
What role does e-commerce play in your business strategy
and how are you using it to boost efficiency
Consumers can shop at any time using e-commerce platforms
They are also able to select from a wide variety of products
We are actively engaged in e-commerce using existing platforms
What is different from other categories of daily supplies
is that our market won’t grow without an increase in pet ownership
The distribution of pet supplies is down since ownership of pets besides fish is down in Japan
Online shops are important for our business
but we also believe in the importance of retail locations
This is vital for allowing customers to visit and touch the animals
Another area for improvement of e-commerce is that through this channel
we cannot listen to the problems of our customers
which is something that can be done at physical locations
we have our own customer center where customers can receive advice
so too are the inquiries we are receiving online
Something that our company really values is the follow-up with customers after sales
Your company has an interest not only in the domestic market but also in the international markets such as Indonesia
Which countries have you identified as being most appealing for your company’s expansion
for Indonesia since we have our own factory and understand the culture and customers
we wish to develop the market.
Can you tell us more about the Indonesia factory and the role it plays in your business

It is all interchangeable through a smartphone app
which allows you to customize to the tenth of a millimeter just how precise that derailleur is on every shift
While Wheeltop tells me the MTB and GeX rear derailleurs shift the same 10-46t or 10-52t 1x cassette ranges
the MTB rear derailleur won’t talk with the road shifters
though: two for the left levers and two for the right
similar to a Shimano drivetrain configuration
The rubber hoods feel grippy but durable in the hands
the brake levers feel sturdy and with less play than the Wheeltop brake levers from last year
The shift buttons don’t have quite the solid
nor do they have the clickiness of a SRAM lever either
We’re eager to get this groupset in for review and onto a test bike soon
Perhaps the groupset I was able to try on a trainer was a one-off situation
but this new GeX groupset feels noticeably tighter and better made than even just a year ago
And while Wheeltop still doesn’t have much of a presence outside of Asia
I would expect that to change sooner rather than later

Alright, I think we can all agree that Gex isn’t exactly on the same level as basically any other Sony mascot I could have mentioned, which is why the internet has taken to lightly roasting his inclusion in the latest update for Astro Bot
In a Twitter thread discussing Gex’s addition to the game
the comments range somewhere between cheeky tongue-in-cheek references to utter disbelief
“I think the worst part is that THIS is the first Square Enix character in Astro Bot,” commented @marvelboi2007
“Not Cloud… Not Sora… Not 2B… Not even Fei… F*cking Gex.”
“The know what the people want,” replied @TurboStunkk
Although the Gex franchise has taken on a bit of a meme status since the 90s
there was a time when this stupid little pop-culture spouting lizard was a genuine household name
it was a brief moment in time but… it was a moment
it is a bit weird that some other Square Enix titles haven’t found their way into the game (namely Final Fantasy’s Cloud)
Some have taken Gex’s inclusion in Astro Bot to mean that the rumoured re-release of the Gex trilogy of games is real and will undoubtedly be announced any day now
Frankly I don’t think that’s what they were going for here
I’m sure Scott The Woz would be thrilled at the prospect of seeing a Gex remaster though

Back in July last year, the Gex Trilogy was officially announced for the Nintendo Switch, confirming three of his retro games Gex (1995), Gex: Enter the Gecko (1998) and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko (1999) would be returning
In case you missed this initial announcement, his new collection is running on Limited Run's Carbon Engine - "a development tool that allows legacy content to be ported to modern platforms"
it's been confirmed pre-orders will open Fall 2024
which notes how you'll be able to "rewind and save anywhere":
"Gex Trilogy is the definitive edition of the classic platforming series with Gexcessive attitude
complete with Gextras like rewind and save anywhere
Relive Gex’s snark-laced adventures through the warped lens of twentieth-century pop culture and use your Gexterity to survive an onslaught of television-themed challenges."
The Gex games were originally developed by Crystal Dynamics - the same team behind the Tomb Raider series and more recently games like Marvel's Avengers
Gex's titles were also previously available on platforms like the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color
Revealed during the Limited Run Games Showcase
I really hope they include the UK and Australian voice tracks
Wonder which versions these will be based on
Always been funny that Gex only namedrops Bowser in the Playstation version of whichever game that was
I would love to save 15% on my car insurance
Glad to see Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival finally make its way to the Switch
another anthropomorphic edgy character from the 90s
Not saying the games are bad because I haven't played them
I'm unironically looking forward to these collections of infamously mediocre 90's platformers
I feel like i have to buy them as an important piece of history
@Lizuka I'm guessing it's the PS1 versions they're using
since that one was also released on the Saturn
I can make the game look better and play more smoothly on my phone
oh jester of amphibious design? As the years built within me
Thine tongue emerges from the age of 32 bit glory,On 3DO
upon forgotten roads,But now the lizard rises
take heed the prophet says,For light doth cast a shadow
for Gex shall make his stand,And all those who remember
and every babe in lace,For it's about to get stranger than the 4th at Rick James' place
@rvcolem1 Oh they're bad
But that's strangely part of their charm
@rvcolem1 “Poochie died on the way back to his planet”
This article obscures the advertising a little bit
I love that we're getting all this psone classic games
I'm more excited for psone remaster than most of new AAA games now 😃
Took years to finally get a memory card to save the dam game lol
@CRB1984 Where’s Poochie
@Zeebor15 The original voice actor was Dana Gould
@Yousef- 😂😂😂
@rvcolem1 Oh no
😂🤣These games were famously garbage running on their native software
let alone the butchered glitchy hell they released for the n64..
but mainly because I only borrowed or rented this one
happy that I'll finally be able to now that they're coming also to Switch
@CRB1984 haha one of the Simpsons episodes I actually remember
@garfreek so these go into the category: "oh I remember this being kinda cool" oh wait this actually sucked
Like "master of the universe" starting Dolph Lundgren
God I think I played this on the 3DO almost 30 years ago
@rvcolem1 One of my favorite movies
@rvcolem1 The first Gex was actually a top tier platformer
It had a level of polish that definitely set it above almost all other mascot platformers besides what Nintendo and Rare were putting out
Graphics were beautiful and controls and gameplay were solid
with some neat innovations like Gex being able to traverse ceilings and background walls
Voice acting in games was still relatively fresh and Dana Gould delivered an iconic performance
Nintendo and Rare had set the bar so high for quality in that new arena
that 3D platformers from other companies really suffered in comparison
but that first sequel is still a very fun game
Especially the PSX version which I feel turned out a little better than the N64 game
Part 3 was a little wonky and the gap between it and it's contemporaries had widened even further
The legacy of the series still stands however
with the first game securing itself as the official mascot game for the 3DO system and the followups being very popular at the time
Hopefully you'll give them a try and find some enjoyment from them
@TenEighty it is one of the first movies my mom ever took me to as a child
It has a special place but it is still terrible
SO emulators are not allowed and this is the best they can do for an official release
At least have an option for a higher resolution
I hope Pandemonium makes its way back one day
I remember this being one of the first games I got for it when it (The original Gex) came out
The 3d one looks kinda garbage though in the vid
do not ask about the price of nostalgia.-Gex
@Elitepatriot I thought Gex 3 (the only one I had played on N64
till the battery in my third-party memory card got loose and started erasing my files) was among the PS1 games to have both memory card and password save features
they were kind of long and made it desirable to have a memory card to avoid it
@Runex2121 I do remember Gex: Enter the Gecko being praised when it was released
But maybe that's because it was relatively soon after Super Mario 64 was out (like early 1998) and PS1 owners were looking for something at least halfway decent to compare it to.I know PS1 got some nice full-movement 3D platformers but I think it too some time for them to arrive. Those early days when they had like Blasto
Bubsy 3D and Rascal to play with.(Crash 1 and 2 were out
but Crash was more two-dimensional in gameplay.)
@Rooty No need to be upset
I'm honestly excited to revisit these games; especially Gex 3
But if this version of Enter the Gecko doesn't have the Titanic level (from the N64 version)
then it's a stretch to call this the "definitive" version
@PinderSchloss ...while this uses that dreaded emulation itself
but delivering a worse experience than the likes of Duckstation
It is disappointing that they're making it look identical to the original
1080p rendering would be a no-brainer when it comes to matching the experience we already get on other emulators
and widescreen and 60fps (if possible) would make this worth buying for those of us who already have these games on other platforms
This issue comes up a lot with ports/emulations/remasters: a straight copy is fine for making the games available to those who missed them
I imagine they'll make their money back just from Dunkey fans
It's probably because of his channel that LR hit up Crystal Dynamics or Square or whomever and said this would sell
@mikegamer I jest
can we just get a nice 3DO compilation to bring back the feels
publishers and I know that Way of the Warrior was really bad
the switch 2 may be out before we ever see it
@JohnnyMind @Not_Soos i remember enjoying the second Gex though replaying it the camera is definitely of its time and can have a mind of its own
the third one did feel like it improved on that aspect
on the subject of 90s platformers i wonder if the croc games are in any kind of licencing nightmare
replayed them relatively not that long ago and aside from the expected psone jank i did still enjoy them
@Cipher36 Right on
So many that would look beautiful uprezzed to HD or 4K
I would love to see more love for the system
This year has been pretty special for 3DO fans though
with PO'ed and Killing Time getting remastered and now Gex upcoming
Imagine a Wing Commander anthology with all of the games brought to console in HD
3DO Road Rash and Need For Speed would be amazing
What’s going on with that awful voice….that’s not the original voice
@Cipher36 loved way of the warrior
White zombie doing the sound track was immense
Road rash had sound garden on the sound track too
Crash and burn was another game I played a lot of
I second your vote for 3DO and salute your brilliant taste in games… I played almost all of your list A LOT
@Thomystic I mean
Scott the Woz fans will probably also want a copy
@AG_Awesome save anywhere
But rewinding is ruining the experience in a way
but you can ignore it and never use it"
The sole fact that the option exists makes it tempting to use it and difficult to resist under pressure though
@beartown Then I'd say develop stronger will power to resist
🤷♂️ Reminds me of the whole super guide online freak out meltdown
Turns out it didn't ruin gaming after all
@EVIL-C no
@beartown Yes
@EVIL-C I don't like it when people glorify "developing a strong will"
It's like having these pay-to-win games
The fact that you CAN do it makes playing less fun
Don't pretend it's a matter of a strong will or whatever
It takes away a reward of the challenge if you know that people can finish this game in easier way
Scott the Woz bouta havhave field day with this one
@beartown I don't worry about what other people are doing
I just play the games that look fun to me and try to enjoy them
I remember playing the first one on the Panasonic 3DO
@rvcolem1 Dolphin Lundgen himself too probably
Usually these were impressive graphically or technically...at the time
I think the only exceptions are the more cartoony games with high polish like Mario golf
Banjo Kazooie and Iggy's werking balls....Oh no that's a milk situation again
@Grail_Quest Bravo 👏
@mlt They are awesome
@Emacster yup same here
@KingMike i love Blasto
We can rebuild him make him faster and stronger.Do you know what this reference is

News Gex Trilogy Confirms Summer 2025 Switch Release, Here's The Official Trailer
Nintendo had Super Mario. SEGA had Sonic the Hedgehog. And 3DO had… GEX
The James Bond-esque gecko debuted as a console exclusive on Trip Hawkins’ ill-fated format
but later launched on SEGA Saturn and PlayStation – before subsequent sequels launched first on Sony’s vastly more popular system
While the original game was a 2D side-scrolling platformer, its subsequent sequels adopted a 3D perspective, following the enormous success of Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario 64. And you’ll be able to play all three titles in the GEX Trilogy
courtesy of Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine
You can get a first look at the gameplay above
but they serve as an interesting snapshot of the 90s
the second game in the series had a Titanic-themed level
the third game had an anime-themed stage with mechs and schoolgirls
with pre-orders scheduled to open in the fall
And while there’s no release date just yet
the entire bundle is expected before the end of the year
[source youtube.com]
I remember I had a copy of Gex which I bought in Bali for $2
I have a vague memory of the cut scenes using a real actress
I loved GEX on the 3DO and while slow paced felt special at the time
I still have the original Gex games on PS1
I bought them about 10 years ago just to have them in my collection.Sure they're not that great but they have a lot of charm
@Luigia Crash 'N Burn was my first game from Crystal Dynamics since it was the pack-in game for the 3DO
I loved Gex as a kid.Learned to hate him as a teenager
And have now come full circle to loving the little idiot again
In the second game here in the UK it was Leslie Phillips
which (now that I think about it) was random as heck
I remember my dad agreeing to buy me a game and I randomly picked up enter the gecko due to the cover art
This is like an all nighter at Richard Simmons' house
This reminds me of a night out with Bill Cosby
@MARl0 nice to see another fellow 3DO owner 👍🏻
Hopefully they have three separate trophy list and not just one like the Tomb Raider Collection
Legacy of kain is the only franchise left to be revived
I prefer a reboot.Gex wasn't my cup of tea
Never played Gex 1 but played Gex 2 on PS1 and N64 and 3 on PS1
Nostalgia will play a big part in me resisting these
Scott Wozniak and his friends will be happy
Crystal Dynamics owned the IP when they were sold to SE
Why on Earth would SE want to keep an IP they have never used yet happy to ditch Tomb Raider
Gex enter the gecko scared me so much as a kid
@Mirror_D_80s it may depend on licensing as Leslie Phillips did voice for the 2nd in UK and he's sadly passed away
I really liked the second game and loved Leslie Phillips voicing him even though at the time I didn't realise
Still play the first Gex on via backwards compatibility on the PS3
Really looking forward to playing Enter the Gecko and Deep Cover Gecko again and going through the first Gex for the first time
kinda miss leading when they literally have a new character model of the Gex in this triller and also the announcement trailer

News Gears of War: Reloaded Remasters the Original Game This August, Confirmed for PS5
Limited Run Games has released new trailers for Fear Effect, Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection, Fighting Force Collection, GEX Trilogy and the Tomba! games. As such, I’ve decided to share all of them in one big article.
Bubsy returns with the Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection. This new collection is in development with the Carbon Engine, and it will be released in 2025.
Then we have the Fighting Force Collection. In Fighting Force, you and up two three friends have a simple, four step strategy: break things, get weapons, use those weapons to pummel people, and repeat as needed. It’s straightforward streetside carnage with a 3D flair. The collection features the two games that came out on the 32-bit consoles.
Gex Trilogy is the definitive edition of the classic platforming series. This trilogy will have some extra features, like rewind and save anywhere. Limited Run Games will release this trilogy later this year.
PlayStation fans will also be pleased to know that Limited Run Games will re-release the original Fear Effect game. Fear Effect will be coming to PC in 2025.

It seems as though the classics are making a return recently and this banger game from our childhoods is no exception
First released in 1995 with sequels following in 1998 and 1999, the Gex trilogy is making a return after almost thirty years and fans of the PlayStation 1 platformer series are overjoyed
Check out the trailer for the remastered Gex Trilogy below
Gex,Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko shone during the late 90s and the trilogy, originally developed by Crystal Dynamics, could be found on the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Colour
The games would see the player take on the role of “a wisecracking
television-obsessed gecko voiced by comedian Dana Gould
who must venture through the "Media Dimension" and defeat Rez
the overlord of the dimension who wants to make Gex into his new network mascot.”
The upcoming release for the trilogy was first announced back in July of last year and it will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch
it has been confirmed that pre-orders will go live in Fall 2024
Using Limited Run’s Carbon Engine which is a "a development tool that allows legacy content to be ported to modern platforms"
fans are excited to see what the trilogy will look like almost thirty years on and luckily
"Gex Trilogy is the definitive edition of the classic platforming series with Gexcessive attitude
complete with Gextras like rewind and save anywhere,” the official reveal reads
“Relive Gex’s snark-laced adventures through the warped lens of twentieth-century pop culture and use your Gexterity to survive an onslaught of television-themed challenges."
In the comments of the official reveal trailer
one comment read: “I loved playing this trilogy back in the day on PS1
Bring on Croc and Jersey Devil remasters.”
