Paris Saint-Germain's women's team beat Guingamp 4-0 on Matchday 2 of the Arkema Première Ligue today – here's a look back at the match.
After an opening win at Montpellier (3-1) to kick-start their domestic season, Paris Saint-Germain's Women's team were back in action in the league to take on Guingamp. Fabrice Abriel started the match with a 4-3-3 formation. Starting up front, Marie-Antoinette Katoto was supported by Romée Leuchter and Tara Elimbi Gilbert. Grace Geyoro and Korbin Albert were in charge of midfield.
It was not until the second half that the match really got going. As enterprising as ever in the game, Les Rouge et Bleu stepped up a gear in the final third. It was Romée Leuchter who provided the spark! The Dutch international took advantage of some excellent work by Marie-Antoinette Katoto on the right flank to break the deadlock with an opportunistic finish from close range (1-0, 51').
After a fine team performance, Paris Saint-Germain notched up a second consecutive win to stay at the top of the table with the teams on six points in the Arkema Première Ligue. It was a victory achieved in two stages, and one that bears the stamp of our summer recruits. Fabrice Abriel's players return to the PSG Campus next Friday, when they host Le Havre in a bid to make it three in a row. Mission accomplished.

With Brest punching way above their weight
uncertainty surrounded the stadium in which Eric Roy’s Pirates would play their home games in the latter stages of the Champions League – Brest are currently 7th in the standings and will at least qualify for the playoff rounds
Brest president Denis Le Saint entertained the possibility of renting the 80,000-seater Stade de France
but the majority of Brest fans rejected the idea
given the Brittany city is a six-hour drive away from Saint-Denis
Brest will play their Champions League knockout stages in Guingamp’s Stade du Roudourou with a reduced capacity
to meet UEFA’s tougher regulations as the competition progresses
Fourth-tier sie AS Cannes pulled off a shock
beating Ligue 2 highfliers EA Guingamp (3-1) to reach the semi-finals of the Coupe de France
Amine Hemia had the first chance of the match as his speculative long-range effort caught out Fabio Vanni and struck the Cannes bar
who looked the most dangerous throughout the first half
one of the prominent figures of this extraordinary Coupe de France run
used his blistering pace to get in behind and forced a big save from Babacar Niasse
but he wasn’t equal to an effort from Abbas just moments later
The winger’s curled effort from the edge of the box caught Niasse unawares at his near post and he didn’t get a touch on it as Cannes took a deserved lead
Les Cannois continued to push and saw an effort saved off the line but they wouldn’t be denied for long
his pass was straight to a Cannes player and
he launched an ambitious effort from inside the centre-circle to beat a retreating Niasse
should have got on the scoreline himself before the break but with the goal at his mercy
his volleyed effort was mishit and Niasse could palm away the goal-bound effort
Having been all over their opponents for the first 45
Cannes were caught sleeping at the start of the second half
Less than 50 seconds after the return from the dressing rooms
the host’s lead was halved with Jacques Siwe heading into the far corner
Vanni was then called into action to deny Domatien Gomis one-on-one but it was Cannes who got the next goal
Almike Moussa N’Diaye caught his centre-forward son his heels slightly with his through ball but Domingues got to it on the stretch
as they were reminded when Severin Sabri Guendouz forced Vanni into a spectacular finger-tip save
but the Côte d’Azur side were dogged in their defending
limiting Guingamp to only a handful of half chances
“We’re in the semi-finals” rang around the Stade Pierre de Coubertin before the final whistle as the National 2 side book their place in the next round

FC Metz recorded their fourth win of the season in a five-goal thriller that saw Gauthier Hein score a first-half brace
Metz's returning summer recruit opened the scoring with a low strike just inside the box (15') after being served by Candé's low cross from the right
Cheick Sabaly would then get in on the action to double Metz's advantage
latching onto a horrific ball played out the back by Amiens goalkeeper Régis Gurtner and then simply finishing deftly over the Frenchman (21')
Hein would grab his second of the game before half-time with a lovely finish after cutting inside the box (43')
Amiens got on the scoresheet shortly after via Antoine Leautey to give Les Licornes a chance of getting back into the game (45+2') before Kylian Kaïboué's second-half header (76') threatened a late comeback
Following up on last weekend's derby win over Red Star FC (1-3)
Stéphan Gilli's men edged out Laval at Stade Charléty to keep their two point cushion at the top of the Ligue 2 table
Whilst Maxime Lopez and Nouha Dicko tested Laval keeper Mamadou Samassa either side of half time it would take a late finish from inside the box from Hamel to seal all three points for Les Parisiens (83')
It's now a third consecutive win on the bounce for Paris FC
who continue to set the pace at the top of the Ligue 2 BKT table
Clermont Foot completed a surprise win over Guingamp with goals from Yohann Magnin
and a brace from Ousmane Diop sealing Les Lanciers' second win of the season against a promotion-chasing Guingamp side
Amadou Sagna provided a consolation effort in the 88th minute
but L'EAG certainly travelled back to Brittany with their tails between their legs after dropping to 7th in the table
Sébastien Bichard 's Clermont side got back to winning ways as they sit 13th in the table ahead of the second international break
>>Ligue 2 Review #7: Paris FC win derby to go top, Grenoble dominant against Clermont
EA Guingamp have confirmed the signing of Théo Le Bris (22) on loan from FC Lorient until the end of the season
Théo broke into the first team at Lorient under the stewardship of his uncle
His uncle left the club in the summer to manage Championship side Sunderland AFC following Les Merlus’ relegation to Ligue 2
It was a journey that Théo could have also shared as the midfielder was linked with a move to West Brom Albion
a move to the Championship team ultimately did not come to fruition
Théo remained at Lorient for the first six months of the season but has struggled for game time and has not started a single match for the Ligue 2 side
This was not helped by the significant injury that he suffered near the start of the season which saw him miss nine games

Red Star managed to grab their first away win of the season in style against one of the impressive early season sides in Guingamp
L'Étoile Rouge raced into a one-goal lead early on after new signing Aliou Badji scored on his first start for the club with a lofted finish just outside the six yard box after being served a delicious ball by Damien Durand (3')
Guingamp's Amine Hemia raised the temperature levels with a stinging low strike from outside the box which was impossible to save for Quentin Beunardeau (23')
but it was Red Star who would take the lead once more after Ryad Hachem was fouled on his way to latching onto Samuel Renel's outside-of-the-foot pass and referee Robin Chapapria
Up stepped centre-back Bradley Danger to confidently dispatch for the away side (45')

Only one minute later Amine Hemia would pop up with what was quite possibly the goal of the season: a sweetly-struck volley from the edge of the box which flew into the back of the net (45+1')
If it looked like the league leaders were going on to win the game
Aliou Badji would get one of his own when he latched onto Fodé Doucouré's diverted cross and finished calmly in front of the away fans (51')
Damien Durand then added to the scoring with a finish from the centre of the box after Fred Dembi's cross as the away fans looked almost in disbelief at Red Star's two-goal advantage (60')
Guingamp midfielder Brighton Labeau would pop up a fantastic third effort from range for the hosts to set up a tense finish at Stade Roudourou (78')
The side from the Paris suburbs would pull through despite several late chances for their second win in the space of a week

and stormed into the box with a powerful finish to match (12')
Clermont had several chances to get back into the game

A tough start to the season for Troyes continued as their Corsican hosts came from behind to win in the final minutes of the game thanks to a fantastic acrobatic strike from Yoann Touzghar
Rafiki Saïd opened the scoring for ESTAC with a scuffed finish (12') before Mathis Hamdi's tackle before half-time would earn a red card and shift the balance of the game
ACA earned a penalty just after the break which was dispatched by Christopher Ibayi (52')
L'Ours would go ahead right at the death when Touzghar connected brilliantly with an acrobatic volley after ESTAC goalkeeper Quilichini parried the ball into his path (89')

ESTAC Troyes are set to appoint former EA Guingamp head coach Stéphane Dumont in the next few hours as their next manager according to a report by Le Parisien journalist Marc Mechenoua
Last week, Troyes had announced a precautionary suspension of their current head coach David Guion
It had appeared highly likely that Guion would not manage Troyes again following the suspension
The manager had only been appointed in December to the role following the firing of Patrick Kisnorbo
he was unable to dramatically improve results and the club were relegated from Ligue 2 to Championnat National
Following FC Girondins de Bordeaux’s administrative relegation
Troyes were given a lifeline and maintained their position in Ligue 2 for another season

Trophies are absolutes, but achievements are relative. Paris Saint Germain won the Ligue 1 title on Sunday night which
after spending €222m on Neymar and lining up a €200m deal for Kylian Mbappe
is not something to stir your sense of the power of football
Nor is it likely to be enough to keep Unai Emery in a job
and you will find a team whose achievement is far more real
Even if they are never going to win anything
En Avant de Guingamp are the most over-achieving team in Europe
They represent a village of just 7,000 people
the smallest place to provide any top flight side in any big European league
found in the middle of nowhere in rainy northern Brittany
This western-most tip of France is not a football hot-bed
Wales chose to base themselves in nearby Dinard for Euro 2016 because of its quiet seclusion

Guingamp have none of that. The frugality of their annual budget, just under €30m, is even more important to their story than the size of their hometown. PSG
Guingamp’s budget is consistently the lowest in Ligue 1and yet here they are
about to start preparing for their sixth consecutive year there
Simply being there for another year is a triumph enough for the local men and women who run the club
who know that only by working together could they nurture the club’s spirit
last year the club introduced a shareholding system called ‘Kalon’
That allows Guingamp fans to buy one share each for €40
and have their name on a wall by the Stade de Roudourou
more than twice the size of Guingamp itself
The biggest clubs in Ligue 1 are all foreign owned: PSG by Qatar
Monaco by Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev and Marseille by the American Frank McCourt
Lille sold up to Spanish investor Gerard Lopez
Now they are embroiled in a legal battle with former manager Marcelo Bielsa
“We are the opposite of what we see around us,” Guingamp president Bertrand Desplat tells The Independent
“There are a lot of investors now from all over the world
We are owned by 145 small local businessmen
So how do these local people actually do it
How do you overachieve this much in a sport this competitive and this open
And when the obvious ways to make a team good – players
The answer is by prioritising what money cannot buy: values
but it is how the club explains its own success
he is sat down beforehand for an hours-long meeting where the history and values of the club are explained to him
He is presented with a document entitled ‘Engagements’
the commitments or obligations the player has to the club
Most of all to uphold the club’s four core values: work
But the evidence shows that the players are willing to do just that
That is why the team overachieves on the pitch
Why they were the last team aside from PSG to win the Coupe de France
regaining the trophy in 2014 they first won in 2009
And why the academy has produced so many good players over the years
Anthony Knockaert started his career at Guingamp
learning the game there before making his big move to Leicester City in 2012
Laurent Koscielny was spotted by Guingamp scouts at 17 playing for non-league Limoges
persuaded to turn down Lens to come to Brittany
and was given a solid grounding in the game there
started at Guingamp before joining Marseille
Football never stops turning and now there is another generation of youngsters developed at Guingamp’s new academy. Drogba’s 17-year-old son Isaac has just joined. Marcus Thuram, son of Lillian, is in the first team. Marcus Coco, another 20-year-old midfielder, is a Liverpool target already. There is plenty of foreign attention for Ludovic Blas. The club gives these players a chance and accepts they will eventually leave. Because they will then be replaced by the next cohort.
The unlikely isolation of Guingamp may in fact make it a better home for teenage players than Paris, Lyon or Marseille. “In Guingamp, there is nothing to do but play football,” Desplat says.
“No bars, no discos, no big city. There are lots of people here to make you feel good, and to give you confidence. But to focus on football. Because there is nothing else to do. Never forget that we are the smallest town in Ligue 1. We should be playing at the sixth or seventh level of French football, not the top.”

but the Brazil international then recorded his maiden strike to make it 3-0 for his new side:
but they looked far more convincing in attack on Sunday with Neymar as a part of their starting lineup
Neymar's late strike proved to be the final .css-14rpnn4{margin:0;font-size:1.6rem;-webkit-text-decoration:none;text-decoration:none;font-family:Proxima Nova,Proxima Nova Fallback Helvetica,Proxima Nova Fallback Arial;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;letter-spacing:0rem;line-height:2.6rem;white-space:normal;word-break:break-word;}addition to the scoreline as PSG maintained a 100 per cent record in Ligue 1 this season
having yet to concede a goal after 180 minutes of game time
His needle-threading pass for Cavani's goal in particular stood as testament to the kind of quality PSG have brought to the Parc des Princes
as he pulled off an unselfish and classy motion forward to help settle the nerves
One gets the impression Neymar will be doing much of that for the capital club this season
easing the load on his team-mates who would otherwise feel some pressure to take on the star role
Stretching back even further than Ronaldinho's stint at the club between 2001 and 2003
PSG have also retained a strong connection with Brazilian players
which Squawka noted has survived until this day:
Manager Unai Emery will be pleased to see world football's most expensive player contributing in attack by both creating and finishing goals
with Sunday's display encapsulating what he brought to former club Barcelona
PSG won't be banking on this performance as a sign of what's to come in every match for Neymar
considering Guingamp conceded the second-most goals of any team in Ligue 1's top 13 last season (53)
Neymar already appears to be on his way to somewhat justifying a price tag any player would struggle to match
France’s Champions League surprise package Brest will continue to play home matches in the knockout phase of Europe’s elite club competition in neighbouring Guingamp should they qualify
“The decision to continue this historic Champions League campaign at the Stade de Roudourou was self-evidently the right one,” said Brest club president Denis Le Saint
who had never taken part in any European competition before this season
are currently seventh in the 36-team league phase of the Champions League
With two matches still to play and the top 24 teams all advancing to the knockout phase
Brest are six points better off than French rivals Paris Saint-Germain in 25th position
That means qualification for at least the play-off round in February is almost guaranteed
while finishing among the top eight would see them advance directly to the last 16
Brest play Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk in Germany on January 22 and then wrap up the league phase with a glamour tie against Real Madrid in Guingamp a week later
Unable to host Champions League matches at their own Stade Francis-Le Ble because it does not meet UEFA requirements
Brest have so far played matches just over 100 kilometres away at the home of Brittany rivals Guingamp
at a stadium with a capacity of just over 18,000
Brest have beaten both Sturm Graz and PSV Eindhoven
while also holding German champions Bayer Leverkusen
But further modifications must be made in Guingamp in order for the ground to host Champions League matches
which had led Brest to consider moving to the 80,000-capacity Stade de France
was to go to the Stade de France in order to satisfy the biggest number of fans but also to grow the club by increasing its visibility
both at a national level and internationally,” said Le Saint in a statement
“But such a move would be problematic for everyone
including the club’s most faithful supporters.”

Nepal international Sabitra Bhandari has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with French club Guingamp
The 27-year-old arrived in France on Tuesday and has completed her medical with the Division 1 side
Nepal’s all-time top scorer has won three Indian Women’s League titles with two clubs: Sethu FC and Gokulam Kerala FC
She was the first Nepalese women's player to join a European league (Israeli clubs are UEFA members) when she signed for Israeli side Hapoel Raanana this year
But Bhandari was forced to return to her native country because of the ongoing Israel-Gaza war
we've got another three hours to come so who knows..
You'll do well to find a better analogy for this January transfer window than the sight of Kalvin Phillips making a complete howler within three minutes of his West Ham debut to hand Bournemouth an early lead at London Stadium
I post this in a bid to talk up the chance of some major breaking news emerging in the coming 15 minutes..
I mentioned the Championship narrative bubbling under the surface of deadline day
and those clubs pushing for a place in next season's Premier League
That was led by Hull completing a quintet of signings earlier
but Ipswich's signing of Kieffer Moore is really great news for their hopes of claiming a remarkable double promotion
Moore has averaged a goal or assist every other game at Championship level in his career
His 11 games in the second tier that season didn't bring a goal or assist
so he'll be hoping for his first ones this time around
Burnley have completed the signing of Montpellier defender Maxime Esteve on loan until the end of the season
has made over 50 first-team appearances for the Ligue 1 club and becomes the second arrival at Turf Moor of the January transfer window
following the loan signing of David Datro Fofana from Chelsea
I’m really happy and ever since I first heard about the move I wanted to move here
I have followed the Premier League since being a young child and had only pictured myself ever being here
“The manager (Vincent Kompany) spoke really positively about the project here and I just wanted to be a part of it straight away.”
Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore has joined Ipswich Town on loan for the rest of the season
The 31-year-old's move to Portman Road was contingent on Bournemouth signing Enes Unal on loan from Getafe
Moore has been restricted to eight substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and attracted interest from Sunderland and Cardiff in January
Ipswich have been in the market for a striker after George Hirst was ruled out for the majority of the season with a hamstring injury
Welsh international Moore is Kieran McKenna's second forward signing of the month
after Iraqi international Ali Al-Hamadi joined from Wimbledon
Moore's move sees him re-join the club he had a brief spell at between 2017 and 2018
Ipswich sit second in the Championship and face Preston North End on Saturday
Lazio's pursuit of Championship players is now surely over
The Italian transfer window closed at 7pm (GMT) - so just a few minutes ago
Germany's window had already closed; that was at 5pm (GMT)
with the English and Spanish windows at 11pm
Bertrand Traore will leave Aston Villa as a free agent amid interest from Villarreal
recently represented Burkina Faso at the Africa Cup of Nations but has played just nine minutes of Premier League action for Villa this season
The forward joined from Lyon in 2020 and scored 10 goals in 62 appearances for the club
spending the first half of last season on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir
We've not had many permanent transfers for sizeable fees this January
so we should make the most of Adam Wharton's switch from Blackburn to Crystal Palace for £22m
Therefore here is my favourite picture of his signing released by Palace
where it looks like he might not have actually been stood inside Selhurst Park
Luton Town have signed Reading forward Taylan Harris
The 18-year-old has been a regular for the Reading Under-21s this season and scored on his senior debut in the EFL Trophy earlier this season
💬 “When you see Luton winning 4-0 and players scoring hat-tricks in the Premier League
it gives you a great feeling of what can come in the future so I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to start
“My aim is to play in the Premier League – every player in the world wants to do that
This has given me an opportunity to do that and achieve that.”
Sheffield Wednesday will complete the permanent signing of winger Ian Poveda from Leeds United
made 36 appearances for Leeds since joining from Manchester City in 2020 but struggled to become a regular at Elland Road
The winger was due to be out of contract at Leeds this summer and will now join Wednesday
Birmingham had also been in the running to sign Poveda today but he will instead move to Hillsborough
You may remember a more enthusiastic time in the January window
when the rumours were swirling and so many clubs still had highs hopes of pulling off signings..
Bang in the middle of that bygone era was a question over Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips' future - which as we discovered last week
now lies on loan at West Ham for the rest of the season
Phillips is in David Moyes' starting XI for the first time tonight when West Ham host Bournemouth
That one kicks off in 45 minutes and I'll keep you up to date with how it goes
especially if deadline day remains a quiet affair
You will notice that we're getting to the point on deadline day where clubs are finally getting round to confirming deals that you thought had been confirmed ages go
Crystal Palace have announced the signing of Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers
The 19-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half year contract at the Premier League club
💬 "I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League and to play for such a big club like Crystal Palace is a great honour."
Here's one away from the usual January transfer window - but with a gentle bit of deadline-day fishing..
Real Madrid have reached agreement with HP for the American technology giant to become their first sleeve sponsor
The La Liga club teased the deal on social media on Thursday with a video showing a desk and computer in the middle of the Santiago Bernabeu pitch and a person typing the word ‘New’
It was posted with the caption ‘02/02/2024’
Many fans speculated it could be to do with the announcement of a signing such as Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe...but actually
the club will announce the HP deal tomorrow
Reports in Spain suggest the contract will be worth €70million ($75.7m; £59.7m) per season - although this was denied to The Athletic by sources close to the deal
My colleagues Guillermo Rai and Mario Cortegana report the overall deal would not reach €50m
and you can read their piece in full below
Nottingham Forest are pushing to do a deal for Ajax forward Chuba Akpom before the deadline
The move would see the 28-year-old join Forest initially on loan
with an obligation to make the move permanent for around €15million (£12.8m
Akpom previously had a loan spell at the City Ground in 2015
where he made seven appearances but didn't score
He joined Ajax from Middlesbrough in a £10.4m deal last summer and has gone on to score nine goals in 20 appearances
The forward enjoyed a standout season for Middlesbrough last season
scoring 29 goals in 42 games in all competitions
Forest have been involved in a late flurry of activity in the final days of the winter transfer window
Rodrigo Ribeiro and are working on a deal to sign goalkeeper Matz Sels
Wrexham striker Jake Bickerstaff has joined Accrington Stanley on loan for the rest of the season
The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive start to the season after forcing his way into a starting XI that was without the injured Paul Mullin
He scored twice in six league and Cup starts
striking up a useful partnership with Ollie Palmer after both had started the opening day loss to MK Dons on the bench
Mullin’s return from a punctured lung sustained on the pre-season tour of the USA meant opportunities became limited from September onwards
Bickerstaff's departure will free up a place in the 22-man EFL squad likely to be taken by new signing Jack Marriott
Bickerstaff will not be eligible to face Wrexham when Stanley visit the Racecourse Ground on March 2
Frankfurt have completed the loan signing of Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain
The deal includes an option to buy the 21-year-old striker
before the move was made permanent the following summer
he has featured just once in Ligue 1 this season
The deal will see Ekitike go the opposite direction to Randal Kolo Muani
who switched Frankfurt for PSG in a €90million move last summer
Newcastle came close to signing Ekitike in January 2022 only for the transfer to break down on deadline day
That's an interesting update from Steve Madeley
effectively confirming the end of Wolves' transfer window activity
That of course may have been influenced by the fact they are also in action this evening
The good news is you'll be able to follow that one live with us, right here - assuming you'd want to take your eyes off the transfer dealings that will run up to the Premier League's 11pm (GMT) deadline.
