Maaike Boogaard (AG Insurance-Soudal) sprinted to victory at the Grand Prix International d'Isbergues - Pas de Calais Féminin.
She out-sprinted runner-up Victoire Berteau (Cofidis) and third-placed Alba Teruel (Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi) in the 131.6km race held through the challenging Pas-de-Calais department and into Isbergues
“The team performed exceptionally well today
there was always at least one of us involved
and we had control throughout the race," said the team's sports director Stijn Steels
she was the strongest rider in the race today
it was a fantastic performance by both Maaike and the entire team."

the member of the Vendée U Pays de la Loire has made his mark with his desire to do well
he was exemplary in his humility and self-sacrifice for his teammates
“I was informed of my move to the pros on my return from China with the Team
I’m so proud to be able to join the Team TotalEnergies
joining former colleagues from the Vendée U
starting with Rayan (Boulahoite) and including Baptiste (Vadic)
I’ll also be joining some riders who have taught me a lot in the races I’ve lined up in over the last few weeks with the Team
as I was getting ready to sign up for another season with Vendée U
Then I had a meeting with Benoit (Genauzeau) who explained to me that the team had confidence in me to switch to the professional ranks.”
I’m going to give it my all for the Team TotalEnergies
just as I’ve always done with the amateurs
Nicola becomes the second rider from Vendée U Pays de la Loire to sign for the professional team for the 2025 season, after Rayan Boulahoite a few weeks ago.

Arvid de Kleijn (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) took a second consecutive victory
he went on to secure the win again at Grand Prix d'Isbergues-Pas de Calais on Sunday
De Kleijn sprinted to victory ahead of runner-up Laurence Pithie (Groupama-FDJ) and third-placed Gerben Thijssen (Intermarché-Wanty) in the elite men's 198.8km race routed through the challenging Pas-de-Calais department and into Isbergues
The Tudor sprinter said that he crashed with three laps to go
but said he took precautions and after a quick discussion with his team decided to go for the sprint in the final
we had everything under control until I crashed with a few teammates with three laps to go
I first wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with my head so I asked myself a few questions
I could answer them all so thought I was good to go
I went again and was asked by the team if I wanted to try to sprint
De Kleijn said that his teammates had to wait for a longer period after the crash because the team car was last in the queue
but he thanked his teammates for their support in getting him back in the race and for their lead-out in the final sprint
"We could come back thanks to a great team effort but then I only had Rick (Pluimers) and Maikel (Zaijlaard) for the sprint
They did an amazing job once again," he said
and I even thought at some point that he could make it to the finish
I was in a lot of pain because of the crash
it is so nice to give it all and finish it off."
It was necessary to look at the photo finish to work out who had won the sprint of the 2023 GP Isbergues
Mads Pedersen and an old member of the Trek family
Mads therefore had to be content with second place
but with the knowledge that the well-deserved rest observed after the intense and successful summer calendar (starting at the end of June with the national championships and ending on 27th August at the Deutschland Tour)
was definitely useful to recharge the batteries and start the season finale with strong ambitions
a week before his rainbow triumph in Harrogate) Pedersen and Lidl-Trek showed great character and the clear desire to leave a strong mark before the last races of the season
But cycling always has its twists and turns
and the daily breakaway almost ruined the plans
It took a long chase and a gutsy effort from Jasper Stuyven in the final kilometers to complete the chase
when the Belgian made an attack with compatriot Naesen (AG2R) to bridge on the five in the lead
forcing the peloton to make the decisive acceleration
The rest was a super fast sprint that ended with Pedersen on the podium
I’m happy I came back racing in a way like this
it was my very first race after a break and the feeling was not great
I approached the race to do my best to get a result
We started with a small team in numbers and I think we got the best out of it
From the radio our team director Rast was very clear saying that Q36.5 was the team to be on for the lead out
I followed the wheel of Moschetti then I just went full gas
but this podium anyway says the form is still here
We keep going with the aim of finishing the season with some good results
but of course that’s not a good reason to stop chasing wins
I still have four races in my calendar and we have to keep the level high till the very end
It doesn’t matter where we race or how important it is
we always need to have the right mindset and try to get the best results
Today’s race showed that after a bit of rest and some good training
I still have the legs to do a full power sprint at least
I’ll do my absolute best to keep performing and get results for the Team
but that will not happen without trying to win
Chiara Consonni (UAE Team ADQ) e Letizia Borghesi (EF-Oatly-Cannondale)

Philippe Gilbert after a crash on stage 16 of the 2018 Tour de France (ASO)
Gilbert took the top spot at the GP d'Isbergues
two months after he suffered a broken kneecap
Philippe Gilbert (Quick-Step Floors) won the GP d'Isbergues in a "crazy" comeback after suffering a broken kneecap at the Tour de France
Gilbert abandoned the Tour de France this July after crashing in the 16th stage to Bagnères-de-Luchon
He misjudged a curve on the Portet-d'Aspet's descent and crashed over the roadside wall into a ravine
The Belgian made his return to racing at the GP d'Isbergues, two months after the brutal Tour de France crash and took the win
"I am already back after two months and I took my first victory of the season," he said
"My goal was to get a win in this last part of the season
I know it was a bit crazy and 99% of the riders would probably just be happy to come back
Gilbert hoped to return before October 7 at Paris-Tours
"I've worked so hard to get back here today
there have been some difficult moments when I have been at home fighting to make this comeback," Gilbert continued
"I have had a great team around me at home but you still have to do the work yourself
some of the most positive opinions I heard were that I should be happy if I were back on the bike within four months."
The 36-year-old Belgian admitted that "maybe" the crash could have closed his career
Gilbert that day climbed from the ravine and amazingly finished the stage with blood running down his left leg
He earned the most combative rider award for the stage
but scans revealed a broken kneecap and ended his race
Sunday's race in northern France was shortened due to heavy rain
Gilbert attacked to form a large escape group and again at 20 kilometres to free himself of that move with Christophe Laporte (Cofidis)
Team-mate Florian Senechal attacked from behind and allowed Gilbert to sit on his rival's wheel
seeing that Florian was coming from behind
Gilbert was second in E3 Harelbeke behind team-mate Niki Terpstra and third in the Tour of Flanders
The victory also added to Quick-Step's tally of 69 season wins
"I am just really happy that I got to taste the victory too in what has been a fantastic year for the team," Gilbert said
"Now I am looking forward to what the rest of the season can bring me

Rory Townsend (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) has been enjoying some very strong late season form
with no fewer than four top 10 finishes at the recent Tour of Britain
and the former Irish champion was back at it in France again today
He took a solid 12th place in the 198.8km Grand Prix d’Isbergues (UCI 1.1) but looked like he would have gone much closer to victory but for being badly boxed in at the finish
Finding himself on the left side of the bunch
with a packed front line of the group just ahead
Townsend tried to dart to the opposite side of the road looking for clear run at the line
he ran out of road to make it count and had to be content with 12th
with the race won in a bunch sprint by Arvid de Kleijn (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) from Laurence Pithie (Groupama-FDJ) and Gerben Thijssen (Intermarché-Wanty)
Dillon Corkery (St Michel-Mavic-Auber93) was also in action today
just 22 seconds down on the winner and at the back of the bunch
Sam Bennett (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) was named on the provisional start list but did not ride the event
Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ) was the sole Irish representative in the women’s race in 131km women’s race in Isbergues
which also came down to a sprint from a reduced bunch
It was won by Dutch rider Maaike Boogaard (AG Insurance-Soudal Team) from Victoire Berteau (Cofidis Women Team) and Alba Teruel (Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi)
who was riding her first road race in almost three months after recent track focus for the OIympics
at the back of the bunch and some 14 seconds down on the winner

Belgian back to his best after fracturing kneecap at Tour de France
Philippe Gilbert abandons the Tour de France
Gilbert: Leaving the Tour really hurts
Gilbert eyeing Paris-Tours comeback after early return to training
Gilbert to make return from Tour de France crash this month
Gilbert crashed on the descent of the infamous Col de Portet d'Aspet on stage 16 of the Tour
hitting a stone wall and plunging down the bank the other side
Although he remounted and finished the stage, Gilbert's knee had swollen considerably, and hospital examinations revealed the fracture, meaning that his Tour was over
Gilbert out-sprinted breakaway companion Christophe Laporte (Cofidis) for the victory
with Gilbert's Quick-Step teammate Florian Sénéchel taking the third spot on the podium
"I've worked so hard to get back here today," Gilbert said on his team's website
there have been some difficult moments when I've been at home fighting to make this comeback
but you still have to do the work yourself
some of the most positive opinions I heard were that I should be happy if I was back on the bike within four months
My goal was to get a win in this last part of the season
and 99 per cent of the riders would probably just be happy to come back
Extremely heavy rain meant that the race organisers took the decision to shorten the course from 200km to 175km
Gilbert further demonstrated the strength of his return by attacking almost from the gun
which steadily decreased in size as the race wore on
but I actually felt good and was really confident," said Gilbert
we took advantage of the slippery roads from the rain and some tricky corners by going to the limit a few times
Kolar and Antomarchi second and third respectively
The Frenchman profited from dedicated support throughout the 204km French race from his Cofidis team
leading into the final kilometres and depositing Bouhanni 150 metres from the line
made no mistake and comfortably got the better of Michael Kolar in second and Julien Antomarchi in third
The victory gives him the lead in the Coupe de France series with just one race remaining
but what is of greater significance is the confidence it will provide ahead of the Worlds next Sunday
his recent crash at the Tour de Wallnie following his crashing out of the Vuelta a Espana and Tour de France
Frenchman becomes 11th winner of the season for French team
It was also the first win of the 21-year-old's career after he turned professional with the team on August 1
Cosnefroy pips Gouault to win Grand Prix d'Isbergues
A stagiaire with AG2R-La Mondiale last year
Cosnefroy had ridden a handful of French and Belgian one-day races ahead of the Grand Prix d'Isbergues-Pas de Calais
The expected outcome of the 1.1 race was a sprint finish with the likes of Kristoffer Halvorsen (Joker)
Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) and Arnaud Demare (FDJ) winning in recent years
the Grand Prix d'Isbergues is a race for the sprinters
I never imagined such a scenario unfolding
After having started in the pros just this August
I am coming into the final part of the season pretty fresh," Cosnefroy said of his expectations
With the Worlds U23 road race Friday his primary goal for September
Cosnefroy added that he started the race with zero personal ambition for a result
and above all put in some good work ahead of the U23 World Championships in Bergen (Norway) on Friday," he said
"But suddenly I found myself in the front of the race without even having meant to
I told Stéphane Goubert that the team should chase the break even if I was in it."
Cosnefroy explained he thought the win was in reach if he rolled the dice
With Pierre Gouault (HP BTP - Auber93) for company
Cosnefroy successfully decided to attack and avoid a two-up sprint for the win
"But with something like 11.5 km to go to the finish in the last lap
we still had a little more than a minute gap
and I realized it might be possible to make it after all
I chose to attack before a final sprint and managed to take the win
I could not have dreamed that I would win my first professional race so soon."
Cosnefroy was quick to move on from his win
explaining the victory is a major confidence boost ahead of second and final U23 Worlds road race
but tonight I will put the victory at Isbergues aside in my mind and start to think about Bergen," he said
but I know that the race in Bergen won’t unfold the same way
Neo-pro teammate Rudy Barbier ensured it was a race to celebrate for AG2R-La Mondiale as he crossed the line in fifth
enjoying a small victory by beating Mark Cavendish to the line
I managed to beat renowned sprinters like Cavendish and Bouhanni in the pack sprint
I have been working with my coach Mickaël Bouget specifically on our sprinting and getting the train to work together seamlessly," Barbier said
"I am pleased and especially happy with Quentin (Jaurégui) and Julien (Duval) who were still with me with 300 meters to go
All that I had to do was unleash my sprint
Ag2R-La Mondiale has now claimed 14 victories
and 24-year-old Barbier is hoping to add to that tally before the season comes to a close next month
"I have felt now for several days that the form is really there
and I want to take a win before the end of the season," he said
"I still have four opportunities (Eurométropole - Binche-Chimay-Binche - Paris-Bourges - Paris-Tours)
