gopher tortoise is important not only because of what it is but because of where it lives The tortoise is designated as a keystone species because its burrows provide shelter for at least 350 additional species—including other gopher tortoises “When we did density estimates at Egmont Key,” Meylan said “students would reach into a burrow and pull out two three or four gopher tortoises from the same burrow and there are no rattlesnakes on Egmont Key,” he added Among the other obstacles turtles face are predators—especially the human variety “There are a lot of people in Florida who think we should eat and harvest turtles,” Meylan said so they’re taking the reproductive females out of the population.” are increased protections for both uplands and wetlands as well as passageways under strikeouts and three walks in pitching her fourth complete game of the season “I just kept trying to hit my spots and trusting my defense behind me.” After getting two hits and four baserunners total in the first five innings Kansas broke through against Meylan in the bottom of the sixth putting runners on first and second with no outs Following a strikeout and with runners still at first and second Bruno took Meylan’s 1-2 pitch and crushed it over the flagpoles behind the left field fence “It feels good (to win the game),” said Bruno We’ve been grinding and now we’re going to try and take this momentum and do something with it.” Oklahoma State didn’t go quietly in the seventh A pair of singles – including Warsop’s second RBI hit of the day – plated a run to make it 3-2 and the Cowgirls had the tying run at second with two outs but Brooks induced a lineout to end the game and give the Jayhawks the win and Anna Soles each had a hit for the Jayhawks in the win Meylan (19-7) – who had gotten the win for Oklahoma State in each of the first two games of the series – took the loss allowing three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and two hit batters in 5 1/3 innings of work Warsop We’ve had a lot of tough breaks this season but we can still do a lot of damage and accomplish a lot if they’ll keep fighting and believe in themselves.” What makes the series against the Knights a little more intriguing is that Kansas and UCF could face each other again in the first round of the Big 12 Conference tournament which gets under way on May 7 at OGE Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma activities in parallel Moser & Cie has developed more than twenty movements since 2005 We have integrated everything over the years Moser & Cie now employs around a hundred people we took over the brand in 2012 following its difficulties That’s when the COVID crisis started which put a sudden brake on the industry as a whole As for Hautlence Moser & Cie represents 95% of our business while Moser’s is based on history and watchmaking complications This totals 10% of our production expressed in terms of sales Moser & Cie House concept in Hong Kong and New York My brother Bertrand takes care of sales and manages 75% of the markets I would say that our client is somewhere between the two: competition and the world of sports road cars And it was all the better because my father is a vintage Alpine Renault enthusiast The partnership with Renault has obviously impacted the perception of the brand and it allows us to offer an exceptional customer experience and the era of mergers and acquisitions has dried up often lacking brands with sufficient critical mass to generate interest is there any interest in developing in this area and moving towards a third brand And would you sell the entities of the MELB watchmaking pool we would rather look for a brand on a human scale To come back to your question about a third brand… We own the C-H a watchmaker born in Sentier in the Vallée de Joux in 1842 and who made a career in the United States He is remembered for his complicated watches: chronographs We are aiming for a turnover of 200 million Swiss francs within 3-4 years The question of major investments will arise in 2028 Editor’s note: according to Morgan Stanley’s estimates, H would have approximate sales of CHF 93 million It is ranked 38 out of the 50 largest Swiss watch brands in Morgan Stanley’s 2024 report For more details, please visit h-moser.com and hautlence.com Do I understand correctly that he would sell the Moser brand depending on the price STILLWATER — Knowing his players would be in an atypical emotional space after what their city endured the previous two days, Oklahoma State softball coach Kenny Gajewski had a direct message for his starting pitcher on Sunday “Go out there and do this for Stillwater,” Gajewski told Ruby Meylan before the 13th-ranked Cowgirls faced Houston Meylan lifted her new hometown as high as she could in OSU’s 3-0 win over the Cougars at Cowgirl Stadium The three-game series was reduced to a single contest after the Friday and Saturday games were canceled because of wildfires ravaging houses and land in and around Stillwater OSU players had "Stillwater Strong" decals on the backs of their helmets and the Cowgirl coaching staff wore shirts that said the same it’s been pretty down in Stillwater and I think we’ve all been feeling that,” said Meylan who transferred from Washington last summer “It was pretty heavy at practice yesterday “I fell in love with this place in the short time I’ve been here While Meylan was nearly untouchable in the circle the OSU offense showed little life over the first five innings The lone exception was shortstop Megan Bloodworth the senior is changing that narrative this season After Tallen Edwards reached on a two-out error in the bottom of the second inning Bloodworth tripled off the wall in right-center field to bring in the Cowgirls’ first run Bloodworth launched her fifth home run of the year to left field for a 2-0 lead Her 2-for-3 performance raised her batting average to .360 and she's tied for the team lead in home runs OSU’s only other hit was an infield single by Megan Delgadillo The Cowgirls found a bit more offense in the sixth inning when Micaela Wark singled to left field and Amanda Hasler walked Then pinch-hitter Lexi McDonald ripped a single through the left side of the infield to score pinch-runner Macy Graf for the final run of the game Gajewski adjusts his role againAfter coaching third base for the first nine years of his OSU tenure Gajewski shifted to first base at the beginning of the season He handed the third-base job to new assistant Greg Bergeron Gajewski passed along the first-base coaching role to injured freshman pitcher Madison Hoffman to be honest,” Gajewski said of coaching first “I feel like I’m so far away from the action and so far away from the coaches I was trying to find my place on where I want to be in the dugout there “I’ve been trying to coach up Hoffman over there kind of walk her through what to do — which isn’t a lot.” New deck construction in left fieldCowgirl Stadium added to its capacity this season with a set of temporary bleachers down the right field line in foul territory the rowdy left field corral is getting an add-on The left field deck — the first of the three the stadium currently has — is currently a two-level structure but construction on a third and fourth level have begun with the placement of support beams behind the current deck “It’ll be a third and a fourth story there,” Gajewski said “It’s kind of frustrating that it’s not already done “It’ll just be louder out there and it’ll be kind of a crazy place.” whose home run would have landed in the new section of decks is excited to see the added energy that will come from more outfield fans “I think the decks are the fans that bring the most energy,” she said “They’re talking smack to the outfielders and they just bring it for us.” More: Big 12 softball power rankings: Texas Tech's series win against OSU not its only big win Adding a sixth-inning insurance run on an RBI home run and an RBI triple to bring in two of the Cowgirls’ runs two are off the bat of shortstop Megan Bloodworth That gave the Cowgirls a 2-0 lead through five innings The only other OSU hit belongs silhouettes could still be seen sitting in Kenny Gajewski’s office Washington pitcher Ruby Meylan sat across from the Oklahoma State head coach and replayed in her mind the whirlwind events of the previous 24 hours They had been there since late in the afternoon groups of people turned into an occasional streak passing by the door frame and conversations that were once about softball automatically amounted to questions about the future booked an airline ticket and was soon in Stillwater —  more than 1,900 miles from Seattle “I believe every story is already written,” Meylan said the cyclone of events did not feel like an uprooting it left an opportunity for change to occur naturally in its wake When Meylan put her name in the transfer portal flight arrangements had been made and details were set for Meylan to attend the first game of OSU’s super regional against Arizona “I figured he would be calling,” Meylan said while talking about Gajewski Meylan was on her coach sulking over the heartbreaking end to Washington’s season against Missouri in regionals But as she flipped through channels on her TV “Man those freshmen and sophomores are good,” Meylan thought of the Cowgirls Meylan had experienced her fair share of success as an underclassman leading Washington to the Women’s College World Series and being named an All-American during her freshman season Meylan’s sophomore year was also decorated with individual success yearned for the thrill of the postseason and turned off the television I was not even thinking about transferring,” Meylan said “But the very next day we have an exit meeting as a team and everything goes down we had four seniors graduating and eventually “That was when my first thought was Oklahoma State.” as Meylan sat with her parents in Gajewski’s office and she realized there was a reason for stumbling upon a game on TV and purpose amid the challenges of changing plans “I believe this is a blessing in disguise,” Meylan said but I am slowly finding out that Oklahoma State is the dream school for the next season of my life.”  More: Oklahoma State softball transfer tracker 2024: Cowgirls add OF Megan Delgadillo towering over the other girls on her rec team the coach asked if anyone wanted to stay after practice and learn to pitch the young player could not have imagined the life she would live within the confines of the base path and how it would mold the person she is outside of it Meylan did not start out as a softball savant it was patience and sacrifice that led her there never thought it would be the sport she stayed with anyway “I had always envisioned her being a volleyball player,” Wayne said “At that age softball was kind of hard to watch especially if you were the pitcher’s parent and watching them at that early age where they can’t throw a strike former Nebraska All-American outfielder Kiki Stokes-O’Conner she eventually found a pitching coach in Omaha stopped playing basketball and volleyball and started traveling with Nebraska Gold when she turned 14 There her game was elevated and for the first time Competition and development were the lifelines of the team as they traveled and played tournaments across the United States just as Meylan started to get exposure to colleges during her junior year Meylan was determined to not surrender her spot to Bahl 2 behind her was the best thing to happen to me because it forced me to kind of mimic what she was doing and make myself better,” Meylan said “Also just being able to see someone older and more talented than me and then throwing the next game the same way.”  Meylan’s confidence soared and her game improved and she was prepared when her name was called the following season Through a restricted recruitment period due to COVID-19 Meylan knew that Washington was where she wanted to be “I would say that I wasn’t super highly recruited,” Meylan said I knew that it was a perfect opportunity for me It was a really successful team that would put me in a good spot for my career.”  Meylan became Washington’s ace her freshman year and finished her two seasons with the Huskies pitching 303 ⅔ innings with a 2.31 ERA With the Huskies struggling on the field and a good portion of the team departing Meylan made the jump to the transfer portal To see what we were and then to also see how we didn’t necessarily fulfill all of our goals and dreams for this season it was like one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through More: Despite WCWS sadness, Lexi Kilfoyl's Oklahoma State softball career should be celebrated Tears rolled down Ruby Meylan’s face as she earned the final out to send Washington to the Women’s College World Series during her freshman season. In that moment, the emotion transcended beyond wins and losses and instead encapsulated a love for the game.  “That moment was special,” Wayne said. “Even watching it today, it makes me tear up. For me, that moment represented pure joy, but it also was a reward for all the sacrifices and time put in.” As Meylan canceled a visit to Oklahoma and turned down interest from Texas and other Division I programs, she knew she wanted to take that passion for the sport to a place where she could not only grow, but could envision herself winning a national championship.  After a couple of calls from Gajewski, Meylan decided to commit, leaving behind what she had built at Washington and embracing what is next.  “It was a major commitment, not only for Ruby but for our whole family, when she made the decision to go to UW,” Wayne said. “We said we are going to back you up and support you, and we did, for two seasons. To have to make this decision after two years was not easy for her. But she had to ask the question, ‘Where is the best place to finish my career? And Oklahoma State was at the top of the list.”  Now as Ruby thinks back to the day when tears fell down her cheeks, she understands that it represents the young girl on a rec field in Nebraska and the freshman pitching her way into the WCWS. But it is also a picture of the woman who would sit in Gajewski’s office and make the decision to come to OSU as she walked out of it. Now, as she goes from Seattle to Stillwater, she is ready for what’s next.  “I am a very all-in type of person,” Meylan said. “Oklahoma State is getting my all.” On3 is a registered trademark of On3 Media Already a subscriber? Meylan loves to blaze its own trail a mini timepiece created exclusively for women that combined micromechanics with sensual curves in the cutest little automatic timepiece This timepiece was way ahead of the “mini” trend which has since exploded on the watch scene The new Ondine collection is just as original blending a unique feminine design with a mesmerising open-worked mechanical movement The beauty of these timepieces lies not only in their original feminine designs but also in the movements that power them proving that a mechanical movement can seduce all the sexes.  The skeletonized movement is a signature design feature at Claude Meylan The creation of these movements involves the careful removal of excess material from the individual components to reveal the intricate inner workings of the watch The result offers a captivating visual experience allowing wearers to observe their timepieces in action The Ondine is the perfect example of Claude Meylan’s art of skeletonization with an open-worked Swiss Made manual movement becoming the face of the watch with just the 12 Roman numerals and the logo positioned on a discrete white lacquered inner bezel Bracelet design is a hugely important element of any watch with all kinds of variations that are mostly created with a system of links with its rings that were inspired by the shapes of ripples on water The first versions of the Ondine featured open rings while this brand-new model for Geneva Watch Days is adorned with rings filled with elegant mother-of-pearl discs As the temperature in the WorldTempus office exceeds 29 degrees Centigrade (84 degrees Fahrenheit) comfort in this heat has taken on a whole new meaning Thanks to the Ondine’s lightweight and open bracelet design air can circulate freely between the wrist and the timepiece making it the perfect summer wristwatch.  with walls so thick that there is no cellular service the Ondine is the perfect reminder to slow down and appreciate time to pick up a stone and skim it across a pond delighting in the formation of ripples as it passes and the magic of each moment.  Your access to this service has been limited If you think you have been continue As the Huskers trudged past us from the dugout to the parking lot they either barely or not at all tried to hide their frustration at not being able to eke out a single run to tie the game in the bottom of the 7th after putting runners on the corners with no one out After Jordy Bahl ripped a scorcher to left to lead off the inning Sammie Bland laid down a bunt to the right side but then the Cowgirls muffed the throw allowing Jordy to scamper to third Bland took off for second where she had been thrown out earlier trying to take advantage of a bad throw but this time decided correctly not to push the issue and darted back to first who had played the hero in the morning game There came ball 3…except the ump ruled she had swung I could assure you her shoulder barely twitched let alone enough for the bat to even begin to come around Ava Bredwell took a low inside ball at the knees here came the same pitch except a tad lower Called strike this time and a pop-up to 3rd base on the next pitch Does that mean she gets a hit on the next one if it’s called correctly but 3-1 is a much different count than 2-2 And that was the issue and the frustration on the day The same pitches which brought counts to 3-1 for Jordy Bahl seemed to go to 2-2 for Meylor on multiple occasions two of those three runners being the above-mentioned the stronger stuff was coming from her right arm allowing only two hits as well and striking out 8 Bahl walked 5 batters in those 7 innings which is glaring when considering she had only walked 8 in her first 43 2⁄3 The second was one of those hits being drilled well out of the park by Cowgirl shortstop Megan Bloodworth who are ranked 16th by a majority of the services dropped their fifth straight game to a ranked squad and have managed only 6 total runs in those games The downside of that slide is they have run out of chances to get over that hump before conference play begins Beating Wichita State and Missouri would be recommended in case those two can play their way into the top 25 And Huskers bats need to score runs against the big arms to do that but it wouldn’t hurt to take some of the pressure off Jordy It’s one thing to tear it up against hapless teams in the bottom 150 The ability is there.
