more than 25 000 objects are listed and preserved: uniforms
the French airline has accumulated an unbelievable collection throughout the years and with the help of its employees
“We have an extreme know how at Air France and we know how to keep and maintain the heritage and history of our emblematic French company” said Sylvie Tarbouriech
Air France VP Brand & Advertising during the visit
“Our dream is to have an Air France museum one day!” she added
The uniforms tell the history of the company
More than 15oo uniforms are displayed by dates and by companies: Air Orient
Air Orient disappeared in 1933 when Air France was created but the company has kept the Air Orient emblem: “the winged seahorse” and today it is the most iconic historical symbol
UTA and Air Inter created the Group Air France
the world’s biggest airline group which settled its headquarters five years later in Roissy Charles de Gaulle
the uniforms of the cabin crew have evolved throughout the years since the first one in 1946 until today
The first uniform of the first steward inspired Alain Ducasse to create the uniform of the waiters for the restaurant lounge La Première in Charles De Gaulle airport
Georgette Renal designed the first hostesses’ uniforms around 1945-1946
The greatest couturiers from Christian Dior
Jacques Esterel or Jean Patou who designed the iconic uniforms of the Concorde crew have built the history of the company
Christian Lacroix has designed the uniforms of the company
Sylvie Tarbouriech likes to show a traditional colored Polynesian dress with its hibiscus
as the hostesses change their uniforms during the stopover
“Our uniforms are frequently lent to exhibitions around the world dealing with the French theme and with film shootings”
more than 2000 menus and posters are again preserved
around 600 models of Air France Boeing 747
Concorde and all the iconic planes which have shaped French history
These models used to be displayed in the Air France travel agency
Sylvie Tabouriech pointed out the exceptional collection of “the art de la table” at Air France
Whereas the plates were first made of porcelain
today they are made of melanin and aluminum
Pierre Soulages which decorated the Air France agency
a tapestry which decorated Boeing 707 or even 85o toys like the only Barbie made for an airline company
the development and the enhancement of the company's heritage
composed mainly of employees of the company and retired workers
A testimony to the history of Air France and aeronautics throughout the twentieth century until today and for the future
while waiting one day for a real Air France museum

The clear objective of Air France is to promote this fabulous heritage throughout movies and exhibitions around the world
highlighting this fabulous French richness
Air France photographs will be showcased at Manufacture des Tabacs de Morlaix and Air France art de la table at Musée de Limoges

Air France-KLM's board had approved 60 firm A220 orders worth $5.5 billion (£4.5 billion) at 2018 list prices and 30 options and 30 purchase rights for the aircraft
and now they are al set to receive their first one
Air France is continuing to renew its fleet
the airline will take delivery of the first of the 60 Airbus A220-300s it has ordered to replace its Airbus A318s and A319s on the short and medium-haul network
The first Airbus A220 designed for Air France recently left the Airbus paint shop in Mirabel
It sports the new Air France colours and notably features the winged seahorse
the airline’s historical symbol embodying its rich history
As it is made with lighter composite materials
the Airbus A220 uses 20% less fuel than previous generation aircraft
It will play a decisive role in achieving Air France's sustainable development objectives
including a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions in absolute terms on the domestic network from Paris-Orly and on inter-regional routes by 2024 (1)
and a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions per passenger/km by 2030(2)
The aircraft will have a capacity of 148 seats and a range of 2,300 nautical miles
so will give the airline an incredible amount of flexibility
The plane should be able to operate any route that the A318 and A319 could operate
Before joining Paris to carry Air France customers
the aircraft will undergo a series of ground and in-flight tests
it will be used for more than a month to train the airline's flight crews
some of whom began the so-called "type rating" process last summer
As with every new type of aircraft entering the fleet
one made up of pilots and the other of flight attendants
These already qualified crew members will then be responsible for training their colleagues within the framework of in-house programmes validated by the authorities
eight instructor pilots attended an 8-week theoretical and practical training course at the Airbus training centre in Montreal
They are currently training their colleagues – including another 28 instructors who complete the pilot launch team – notably using a Full Flight Simulator (FFS) mounted on jacks
and assembled at Air France's flight simulation centre at Paris-Charles de Gaulle
Once Air France takes delivery of the first aircraft
this simulator training will be supplemented by approximately 20 flights in real conditions
with a view to obtaining the A220-300 type rating
Close to 700 Air France pilots will eventually be qualified on this aircraft
The same core group system is being used for cabin crews
with 14 flight attendants trained in Zurich between September and December 2020
They are currently finalizing the training manuals and content that they themselves will be responsible for providing as from September 2021
The core group has selected and trained a group of 37 flight attendants to complete the practical flight training of cabin crews as soon as the A220 enters service
Two A220 door models have been installed at the Air France Crew Academy at Paray Vieille-Poste
In addition to the pilots and flight attendants
the entire company is preparing to welcome the Airbus A220
all operational sectors are getting ready for the arrival of this latest-generation aircraft
The Air France Airbus A220 will be able to welcome 148 passengers in a 3-2 cabin configuration
Each seat will be equipped with type A and type C USB ports and all passengers will enjoy Wi-Fi access from their personal devices
The Air France-KLM Board of Directors have also approved the retirement in principle of the remaining seven A380s from the Air France fleet by 2022
Five of these aircraft are owned by the company
the current competitive environment limits the markets in which the A380 can profitably operate
the A380 consumes 20-25% more fuel per seat than new generation long-haul aircraft
as well as necessary cabin refurbishments to meet customer expectations
reduce the economic attractiveness of Air France's A380s even further

Air France had planned to implement the consolidation this summer with the resulting new super-subsidiary to be called HOP
the merging process is expected to begin "at the end of first quarter of 2016" with its completion now scheduled for mid-2017
Air France should post an operating income of EUR15 million (USD16.5 million) 'within three years
against an operating loss of more than EUR125 million (USD137.6 million) in 2014.'
Personnel-wise, HOP! Air France will consolidate Air France's Point-to-Point teams in Paray Vieille Poste, near Paris Orly
Roughly 245 jobs will be lost in the process including eighty-five in MRO
eighty in Flight Crew and eighty in ground handling
Among the units most affected by the merger downsizing is HOP!-Brit Air where up to 100 positions will be culled
Air France's fleet will also be reduced by five machines to seventy-seven (eighty-seven including reserves and leases)
