The Cowboys got one of the biggest draft steals in Shavon Revel Jr
The Dallas Cowboys came into the 2025 NFL Draft in a not so ideal situation when it came to their cornerback room
With Trevon Diggs recovering from a knee issue
and Caelen Carson coming off a tough rookie campaign
Dallas had to add another cornerback to help out DaRon Bland
They chose to stick to their board and let the draft fall to them
With the 76th pick pick in the third round
but Revel was still one of the highest ranked players in the draft
Matt Miller of ESPN released his rankings of the top 100 picks on Wednesday
who Dallas took with the 12th overall pick in the first round
My final overall ranking: No
Revel’s elite size and playmaking ability had him looking like a first-rounder before he tore an ACL in September
The Cowboys didn’t need a corner in this draft
They got him nearly 20 picks lower than I had him ranked
This could be one of the biggest steals in this draft if he gets healthy and develops into a future starter
Revel could have been the top cornerback (except sometime CB Travis Hunter) taken off the board in the draft if it weren't for his injury
It is largely because he was such a good performer in 2023 for East Carolina
and a fumble recovery (scored a touchdown)
Despite only playing in three games last season
Revel is expected to be ready by training camp
This will give him the perfect opportunity to get out on the field and test his limitations while he gets back to playing shape
The Cowboys will need Revel to get up to speed and fast because even if Diggs comes back healthy and preforms well
he's expected to begin training camp on the PUP list
and there's concern that he won't be ready for Week 1
Dallas will be in a situation where they'll need Revel to be ready to start immediately if that's the case
his rehab and how he responds to it is very important
Cornerback Shavon Revel’s bid to be a first-round pick in the 2025 draft hit a significant road bump when he tore his ACL while playing for East Carolina last September
Revel’s inability to get on the field helped cause him fall to the third round
but his surgeon might have been part of the reason his slide stopped at that point
Cowboys team doctor Dan Cooper did the operation and the Cowboys snagged Revel to help their secondary
“Right now I can pretty much do everything,” Revel said
Revel was able to participate in walkthroughs during rookie minicamp and he’ll continue his rehab work this spring with an eye on being ready to go for the start of his rookie season in Dallas

Texas – Shavon Revel Jr.'s road to the NFL has been the furthest thing from easy
From dealing with multiple devasting injuries dating back to high school to working long shifts at Amazon with his father
his journey to being selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Cowboys is an inspiring one
"I still have to go out there and prove myself to the coaches
I've got to go out there and show them what I have
you've got to prove to the coaches what you can do."
The next chapter in Revel's book will be overcoming the ACL tear he suffered three games into his final season at East Carolina
The surgery done to repair his knee was done by Cowboys team doctor Dan Cooper
"He did an extraordinary job on my knee," Revel said
"For me to be walking the week after my surgery should tell it all
All the connections that he had just helped me connect with other people and open up opportunities for me to help me know more about the facility and the Cowboys."
Now about seven months removed from his injury
slowly but surely Revel is getting closer to making his way back onto the field and reaching his goal of being ready to play by the time the Cowboys head to Oxnard for training camp
"Right now I can pretty much do everything," Revel said
Revel has had to take things slow plenty of times in his career already
but has never gotten down on himself throughout the process of recovery
he embraces each challenge that comes his way as an opportunity to come out better on the other side of it
"It's definitely made me a tough individual…" Revel said of dealing with his hardships
and that's what it did to me because I look back then
I don't look back and myself and be like 'Bro
you never did this and that,' because everything happens for a reason
After beginning his collegiate career in the junior college ranks, East Carolina was the only school to give him an opportunity after he wowed then defensive coordinator and now head coach Blake Harrell at one of the team’s prospect camps
especially following a 2023 season where he exploded onto the scene and received offers from anywhere between $350 thousand and $600 thousand to enter the transfer portal and play at a bigger institution
Many collegiate players in today's college football climate would take on the opportunity in a heartbeat
but I like to work for my stuff," Revel said
"I like to work up to it so I know I did something
Although there have plenty of times when other would have given up or moved on to the next chapter of their lives
Revel was dead set on achieving his dream of having his name called during the NFL Draft
and now has his chance to shine at the professional level
and you believe in yourself and you do what you want to do and not try to work yourself through other people and what they think about you… I feel like you will be on this level
You'll get to where you've been dreaming of."
The former Bruin showed what he could do at UCLA
and he explained what NFL gamewreckers he's been studying to bring that same violence for the Cowboys
When Brian Schottenheimer became Cowboys' head coach
and that includes some that required looking in the mirror
When Shemar James got the call from the Cowboys during the 2025 NFL Draft
the moment was as manifestation of everything he dreamt about his entire life
former Oregon wide receiver Traeshon Holden got his opportunity in the NFL when the Cowboys signed him
New Cowboys defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku is ready to get to work in his new home
and prides himself on being a versatile "dawg" that can cause havoc in the backfield
The Cowboys hosted all 18 of their rookies at the Star in Frisco on Thursday to start the preparations for the team's rookie minicamp
Not content to use only one 2025 NFL Draft pick on a running back
the Cowboys launched one at Jaydon Blue and the other at Phil Mafah; and both appear ready for impact
knocked their draft out of the park with the franchise sticking to their board (of drafting true as its called) and picked the best available player when it was their time on the clock
Tyler Booker and Donovan Ezeiruaku were the first two picks taken
The Cowboys couldn't turn the card in fast enough
Shavon might just be the biggest steal of the draft
"Revel's elite size and playmaking ability had him looking like a first-rounder before he tore an ACL in September," Miller writes
"The Cowboys didn't need a corner in this draft
This could be one of the biggest steals in this draft if he gets healthy and develops into a future starter."
We're not sure about the "didn't need a corner'' argument; the Cowboys themselves privately disagree
USA; East Carolina Pirates defensive lineman D'Anta Johnson (56) and defensive back Shavon Revel Jr
(28) stops the run by Appalachian State Mountaineers running back Anderson Castle (1) during the first half at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium

With Trevon Diggs' knee injury likely seeing him sit out at least the early portion of the regular season
Dallas needed another corner who could potentially start
and Dallas will play the cautious game with their prized draft pick
in the hopes that he will ramp up his progress over the course of training camp and might be ready early in the regular season
corner is known as a "boundary bully," and the Cowboys who managed to "steal" him in the third round might have just got themselves another good

May 3, 2025The mountain biking world was stunned when Revel Bikes announced on April 17 that it was going out of business
With no prior hint of problems and on the heels of the release of its new Ritual downhill rig and ReRun eMTB
the news shocked the bike industry and customers when Revel sent a letter to dealers informing them of the Carbondale-based company's closing
Revel Bikes as it currently stands is closing its doors
though we have tried every avenue possible
we have exhausted all options and run out of funds to support the business
This decision comes at a critical juncture for our capital requirements
significant payments coming due and a very soft market
We are on the ledge and we lost our safety net as a result of continued losses with no end in sight.Consequently
we have transferred responsibility of the business to the Bank
which currently holds the senior debt position
their position and that of other senior creditors is such that there is unlikely to be any remaining funds for unsecured creditors
We will do our best with a limited number of people to liquidate the remaining assets that Revel has
What I do know is that you all deserve better than this
I will do whatever I can to support you as this unfolds.I want to be open to the potential that Revel could be revived to a bigger and brighter future if a new owner comes in while we are going through the wind-down process
This is a talented team with a great brand
someone might want to buy out the debt and see this through
I must be realistic and transparent with all of you – I do not know what will happen from here and we are going to have limited time
do what is right for you and I will do whatever I can to help. Thanks for being a part of what we built
The Team at Revel gave it their all—we have you to thank for a lot of this
We hope to cross on the trail soon."Ben + Matt + The Revel Bikes Team
While we're sad to see Coates leave the industry (but happy to think that he's going to have a lot more time to actually ride bikes)
we're also cautiously stoked to see that the excellent brand that is Revel may live to ride another day
but we hope if true the new owners put as much passion and quality into the Revel brand as Coats and his team have
BikeMag.com will keep on top of this developing story out of both professional duty and our obsessive love of Revel Bikes

Weeks after Revel emailed dealers to announce that it was winding down operations, the brand has posted a public announcement on its social media account about the wind-down
most notably that the brand’s secured debt had been foreclosed on by its bank
“We had exhausted every option, but with over $8M in secured debt—coupled with industry-wide challenges—we were forced to begin a wind-down process after our bank foreclosed on our senior debt,” wrote Revel
“Thirteen staff members were laid off
and just a core group remains to help process liquidation of our remaining inventory.”
recent posts and emails by the brand have been exceedingly optimistic
“The outpouring of support we’ve received over the past two weeks has been nothing short of incredible
The effort and energy our customers and supporters have shared has meant the world to us
and the fact that our website crashed for the first time in six years from so many people trying to buy bikes and keep their existing bikes trail ready… we didn’t see that coming.”
Revel wrote that frames and components are still trickling in, and that the staff is doing their best to keep the website updated with bike availability — bikes which are steeply discounted
Singletracks commentors have had a difficult time finding availability on the website
“Is anything actually available in the fire sale
I’ve been checking their site since the day the closure was announced and nothing ever showed in stock.”
Revel shared that the remaining staff are doing their best to fulfill orders
“It’s just taking a little longer than usual because of the unexpected surge in orders
we’re estimating about 7-10 business days from when you place your order to when it ships
please also allow us a little extra time to get back to you via phone calls and emails as we’re a smaller crew at the moment and doing out best to get through all your messages.”
As for future warranty coverage of Revel bikes
Despite the debt foreclosure, the brand continues to drop hints that this might not be the end of the road. An April 25 social media post begins by saying
👋 Can’t get rid of us that easy…”
The most recent announcement explicitly mentions the possibility that the brand may continue
we’ve gained more hope that someone may pick up the pieces
We don’t have any details yet and expect this to take a few weeks to sort out.”
“A few weeks” is a relatively short and optimistic timeline

which right now is akin to a cat crammed into Schrödinger's box
stating that they’ve “gained more hope that someone may pick up the pieces

This week on #SundayGunday we test-fire the Revel Classic, a new-for-2025 lever-action rimfire rifle available from Savage Arms
and models in .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire and .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire will be available this summer
The first thing to note about this brand-new lever action is it’s a takedown
which makes the Revel easy to clean and a great gun to gift a beginning rifleman
What better way for a little pard to learn the responsibility of gun ownership
Only a couple of pins need to be punched to separate the upper and lower receiver to expose the bolt and breech and easily punch the bore from breech to muzzle
this points out what a great backpack gun this makes for a hiker or camper or trapper
Run your hand through the oversized loop and work the lever
Cycle and shoot a couple of rounds to see the reliable feeding
The trigger is crisp—beginning and experienced shooters can do some pretty precise plinking with this rifle
The tubular magazine holds 12 rounds in .22 Long Rifle and nine rounds in .22 Mag
you can load this 22 on Sunday and shoot it twice a day until Friday
you can move about surely by using the rifle’s crossbolt safety
The Revel Classic wears a satin finish Turkish walnut stock
In back you’ll find a black composite buttpad
The medium profile carbon steel barrel measures 18 inches long
and features a slightly recessed crown to protect the rifling
Sights include a buckhorn rear with an elevator to make adjustments for elevation and a front carbon steel blade so you can start shooting the gun right out of the box
But if you’d like to dial in the gun even tighter
the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts

Texas – Blake Harrell was the defensive coordinator at East Carolina in 2021
when the entire university's football staff's eyes were drawn to a 6'2
170 cornerback from the junior college ranks
Little did they know at the time that he'd become the highest defensive back to be drafted in school history
kind of just caught your attention right away," Harrell said
"Obviously you could tell he was raw with some things he was doing at corner… but just his measurables and testing was out the roof
who is now heading into his first season as the full-time head coach of the Pirates
and 12 days later he committed to play for the Pirates
After plenty of long nights working at an Amazon warehouse with his father to get an opportunity to play at the division one level
Revel dealt with injuries in his first season with the Pirates in 2022
but was able to get healthy in the back half of the season and really showed his potential in ECU's 53-29 Birmingham Bowl victory over Coastal Carolina
coming up and making some big stops and playing the ball down the field," Harrell said of Revel's performance in the bowl game
we should've been playing this kid the whole time
After realizing they had a special talent on their hands
an interception and a fumble returned for a touchdown
Revel played so well his sophomore year that elite programs around the country starting calling him and offering significant NIL money to enter the transfer portal and play at a higher level
That offseason led to a lot of restless nights for Harrell
did you guys really offer him?'," Harrell said
we offered him $350 [thousand] and they told us no
so we didn't know if it wasn't high enough
we heard some other SEC schools around $500
that's true.' And so that's when I really didn't sleep."
That sleep finally was able to come a few days later when the portal window closed
and Revel turned down other opportunities to stick with the program that gave him a chance when nobody else would
it solidified his legacy at East Carolina forever
"Just the fact that he came back when he could've left so easily," Harrell said
"He could've left for almost ten times the money probably
when a guy wants to stick around to finish out his career where he started…"
"For that young man to come back and what he means to Pirate nation
what he means to East Carolina and the loyalty he showed this place
you won't find that much anymore and you won't see that much in college football
Revel's third and final season at East Carolina started off hot
with two interceptions including a pick six during the first three games of the season
That momentum quickly came to a halt when Revel tore his ACL during practice
yet another devastating injury for him to overcome in his career
He had already dealt with a serious car accident his sophomore year of high school where he suffered a fractured skull that required surgery and a broken nose
and injured his hand in preseason camp going into his first year with the program
A lot of players would've been down and out after that much adversity
get down in the dumps and just be completely destroyed," Harrell said
he was always positive around the building
working on his next steps and working on how he can be more of a student of the game
how he could still get better by just watching film and learning
All the hard work and overcoming adversity finally paid off last week when the Cowboys selected Revel in the third round of the NFL Draft with the 76th overall pick
Harrell has seen Revel every day for the last three years
and knows exactly what Dallas is getting with their newest corner
you worry about giving up the deep ball and getting beat deep
but he certainly has the athleticism to turn and run with guys down the field."
He'll be a Cowboy through and through and give you everything he's got to this program."
Character and leadership are things that Brian Schottenheimer has been looking for as he builds his inaugural roster
and Revel received high marks in the character department
He isn't going to be the biggest voice in the locker room
"He's more of a quiet leader as far as he's going to do what's right
he's going to always be doing the right thing
lead by example than he is be the vocal guy at the front of the room." Harrell said
but he's certainly going to bring the energy in his own way
and make sure that he's ready and prepared."
As he enters the next chapter of his career
Harrell said he wants Revel to improve his ball skills to come down with more interceptions and make an impact on special teams early on too so he can elongate his NFL career
and the Cowboys hope it can be the same case for them in 2025 and beyond
"I never had to call a defense to give Shavon help," Harrell said
let's make sure we protect the run or protect the other corner.' He was always that."
the Cowboys have added 30 new players to the roster
creating plenty of changes at each position
Former NFL head coach and current Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien has a unique perspective on the Cowboys' first two 2025 NFL Draft picks
He offered his perspective on the two and what they bring to Dallas
It's been a long journey to the NFL for new Cowboys cornerback Shavon Revel Jr.
but he's finally gotten to where he's wanted to be his entire life
and now is looking to prove to everyone why he belongs
While all eyes might be on the first-round pick named Tyler

And what was it about the Cowboys and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus that stood out to him most
other than the inevitable discussion about fit and X's and O's

when I came in there on my visit," he said of Eberflus and head coach Brian Schottenheimer
"The energy was different than anywhere else I've been
there are errors in my game and I need to fix it
"I am willing to chase after the ball even if it's on the opposite side of the field
particularly those who would point at his journey through junior college and to a smaller university prior in the AAC before now being asked to step in for an injured Diggs opposite DaRon Bland
the self-proclaimed "dog" of a defensive back has but one message
and it keeps me pushing every single day because I'm doing it for the coaches
attended an East Carolina prospect camp in 2021
now head coach Blake Harrell had no idea that the 6'2
170 pound cornerback his staff saw that day would turn into a school legend
Mazi Smith is the starting nose tackle for 2025
but the Cowboys' depth chart behind him needed firepower
and they may have gained a lot of artillery with Toia and Akingbesote
It's all beginning to sink in for the Cowboys' draft class of 2025
as Tyler Booker every other selection is officially assigned a shiny new jersey numbers in Dallas
Former Cowboys running back Tashard Choice coached fifth-round draft pick Jaydon Blue for three years at Texas
and now will get to see him play for the same team he did 17 years later
Mickey Spagnola covers his overall impressions of the draft weekend
the question then became what the team's front office would do when they went on the clock in the third round at 76th-overall
There were/are still plenty of needs to address with their remaining eight picks
and the answer has arrived to presumably conclude their Day 2 in Green Bay by selecting none other than ..
It appears this pick went to the wire as the Cowboys' heavily debated needs at multiple positions
but it was ultimately Revel getting the nod and it's difficult to argue against it
It's a position that will not see the return of All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs for several weeks to begin the 2025 season due to his recovery from a season-ending knee injury that occurred late in the season
It's also a unit that lost arguably the best nickel corner in the NFL
in free agency and is also hoping young talent such as Josh Butler (torn ACL) and former fifth-round pick (2024) Caelen Carson work to return from a season-ending shoulder injury
One could rightfully argue that even with the re-signing of Israel Mukuamu
the Cowboys are in dire straits at cornerback
The size-to-speed combination is eye-popping on Revel
and his 6-foot-1 frame comes equipped with a long wingspan to boot
thriving when he is allowed to press and get his hands on receivers at the line of scrimmage
Revel plays sideline to sideline but has enough speed and stride to carry receivers up the field
and he's beginning to come into his own as a potential ballhawk — owner of two career interceptions that exceeded 50 yards of return thereafter at East Carolina
His backpedal needs to stay low and not organically become upright
or at least was one completely at East Carolina
so assume he'll begin there and play opposite All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland from the outset
A torn ACL is what likely caused his drop in this year's draft but
the surgery to repair it and a torn meniscus was performed by none other than the Cowboys
meaning they have more information than any other team regarding his prognosis
It also bears mentioning the injury and repair took place in September
giving him a great opportunity to potentially be ready by the start of training camp in late July
Revel is heading to the Cowboys to compete at a spot that welcomes him
Welcome to another "American Rifleman" Gun Of The Week video. Today, we’re hitting the range with a brand-new lever-action rifle from Savage Arms. The Revel is a rimfire lever gun that’s made in North America and loaded with features that belie its affordable price point. Watch our video above to see it in use on the range
Savage Arms
has a history with the lever-action concept
when he set out to establish his firearm company
did so with what became the vaunted Model 99 lever-action rifle
and the company ultimately made more than one million of these guns before production ceased in the late 1990s
Savage Arms is back in the lever-action business with a new option designed with affordability
shootability and ease of transport in mind
Made at the Savage Arms facility in Lakefield
lever-action rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle
the gun we have on the range is the Revel Classic
with traditionally configured furniture made from Turkish walnut
the Revel DLX (Deluxe) features upgraded walnut furniture with a pistol-grip design
The straight stock on the Classic is mated to an aluminum trigger housing that is secured to the aluminum receiver body via two captured takedown pins
This configuration allows the rifle to be separated into two components for easy
Attached to the aluminum receiver body is an 18” carbon-steel barrel
underneath of which sits a tubular magazine
Savage also offers the Revel in .22 WMR and .17 HMR chamberings
each of which have a magazine capacity of nine rounds
simply twist the end of the magazine cap and withdraw the internal brass sleeve
Drop cartridges into the cutout on the underside of the magazine tube
then re-insert the brass sleeve and twist it back onto the tube until it locks
the Savage Revel Classic comes with an oversized lever loop that provides room for larger hands
and users can operate the rifle easily with gloves
and a crossbolt safety is located at the rear of the receiver
Sights consist of a drift-adjustable front post and an elevation-adjustable
The receiver is drilled and tapped for optic bases as well
the Savage Arms Revel was lightweight and comfortable to operate
It’s worth noting that Savage sets up the Revel with a 14.5” length of pull to fit most adults
and that stands out considering the many youth-sized rimfire rifles on the market
The trigger pull on our sample was crisp and clean
and operating the lever was smooth and easy
we were able to send plenty of .22 LR downrange
there’s nothing like a classic lever-action to do it with
and the Savage Revel fits the bill for a fun
range-ready rimfire rifle that won’t break the bank

Ancient reports tell of a time when circuses were all about real
and a fat man in a red suit (not Santa) presiding over it all as trapeze artists zoomed overhead
Acts such as Cirque Du Soleil changed perceptions of circus some time ago
In this preview of a number of the shows appearing over the coming weeks
Revel Puck pitch their big top and give us a taster of what they have to offer the circus visitor in 2025
Hosted by a female ringmaster (Ringmistress
Ringperson?) who seems enthusiastic but is let down by a slightly iffy sound system
the first couple of acts actually feel rather like throw-backs to an earlier era
audience members are invited to enter the ring and shine torches on two artists as they perform some dance and acrobatic moves
apparently illustrating themes of trust and risk
If this is the first time you’ve seen someone stand on another person’s shoulders there’s a chance you might find this impressive
Next up was a roller-skater dancing around the ring and then spinning some hula hoops around her body
but didn’t strike me as particularly original
Things look up as we move towards the end of the short first half
A pair of dancers inhabit big top tent-style props while dancing to East 17’s House of Love
but their act is lifted by the originality of the performance and the ingenious use of their props
This is followed by two more dancers with enormous balloons attached to their heads
into which they proceed to immerse their whole bodies
the concept isn’t complicated but the imagination and brio of the act make it hilarious and joyful
things take a queer turn and it feels like we are definitely in 21st century Brighton at last
With a lot of young children in the audience
I imagine there will have been several “interesting” family conversations after the show
and if this served as an early introduction to life outside the heteronormative bubble
I saw one boy of maybe 10 or 12 with his eyes wide as saucers and hands clamped over his mouth in amazement as the gorgeous Lucinda B
whose vertiginous platform heels are impressive enough
performs an acrobatic striptease which left her in nothing but glittery nipple tassels and modesty pouch
That kid is unlikely to forget the experience in a hurry
and hopefully his parents will have used it as the start of a constructive conversation
The Revel Puck Circus runs throughout Brighton Fringe
provides a showcase for both traditional and edgier circus acts
so visitors should have no trouble finding themselves something which suits their particular tastes

Revel is a tall, long-limbed cornerback prospect from East Carolina who stands out due to his physical traits and aggressive style of play. At 6'3" and 193 pounds, Revel possesses the length and frame that NFL teams covet, particularly for outside corners. His blend of size, speed, and physicality has made him one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2025 draft class, with the potential to impact both man and zone-heavy schemes.
Revel's length and straight-line speed are key assets
using his long arms to disrupt receivers' timing at the line of scrimmage and push them off their route
His ability to carry receivers deep is bolstered by his top-end speed and quick acceleration
Revel's athleticism is evident in his smooth transitions and ability to sink his hips for his size
though he can leak extra steps when breaking on shorter routes
While he has the body control and positioning to make plays on the ball
his ball skills are slightly below average
as he struggles to secure interceptions consistently
occasionally leading to missed threats underneath when he becomes too focused on the quarterback
Revel's physicality translates well to the run game
where he is willing and effective in taking on blockers and assisting in run defense
He uses his size and strength to shock and shed blockers on the edge
helping to contain running plays and maintain outside leverage
utilizing his size to wrap up and drive through contact
While he's not an enforcer in run support
he consistently fulfills his assignments and does his part in limiting gains
Shavon Revel projects as an early-round pick with the potential to make an immediate impact as an outside cornerback
and physicality are ideal traits for defending big-bodied receivers on the outside and handling vertical routes
While his ball skills and eye discipline could limit his ability to generate turnovers
Revel's ability to blanket receivers and disrupt plays at the line makes him a valuable asset
he has the ceiling to develop into a high-level starting cornerback at the next level
He uses his length to his advantage in press and does a good job of getting his hands on and disrupting routes at the line of scrimmage
Gets to top speed quickly and easily carries receivers deep
Shows the necessary recovery speed to catch up and close ground with the ball in the air
— Good overall athlete with ball skills and body control
Sinks hips well for his size and quickly transitions
Also shows the ability to push receivers off their line as he works downfield
Struggles to catch with hands and has missed the opportunity to capitalize on additional turnovers
as it can get too high and cause him to leak extra steps out of breaks

was ready to prove himself as a first-round prospect going into the 2024 season
That’s where some NFL Draft experts believed the East Carolina cornerback could end up going
But after appearing in just three games – and playing exceptionally – Revel’s season was cut short due to a knee injury
Revel said at the NFL Combine that he was on track to begin participating in team activities by this summer. But could a Group of Five prospect who didn’t play most of last season still end up going in the first round
hard-nosed cornerback,” Revel said about whichever team drafts him
was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 76th overall pick in the third round
Shavon Revel didn’t run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine
he ran the 40 in 4.40 seconds during a camp before going to East Carolina
Revel only played in 12 games during one of three seasons at East Carolina
He began his collegiate career at Louisburg College and was there for two years before going to East Carolina
Revel’s best season was in 2023. He tallied 55 tackles, 3.5 for loss, with 12 passes defended, one interception, one sack, one fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks. That helped him earn a spot on the All-AAC second team
Revel began being viewed as a first-round prospect after that year
recording eight tackles and four passes defended with two interceptions
it was just crazy,” Revel said of ECU’s coaching
And all (the coaches) wanted was 110% effort.”
He played at Reynolds High School for three years before transferring to Reagan High School
Shavon Revel said he looks up to Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander
I can see why Revel studies his tape after I watched him play at East Carolina – and I’m not just saying that because I think Revel will go to the Packers
Revel plays with a high level of confidence and aggressiveness
but he’s also a physical tackler in run support
He has a feel for how plays are going to unfold
And in 50-50 situations when the ball is in the air and he’s competing with a wide receiver to make a play
he usually ends up deflecting or intercepting that pass
as he blocked multiple field goal attempts in college
It had to be the best receiver on the team
just repetition with the best receivers on the team and just keep doing it every day and learning from it.”
Revel was 26th in Pro Football Focus’ overall grades and coverage grades for cornerbacks
He allowed eight catches for 195 yards and one touchdown with two picks on 21 targets
Revel was 24th in PFF’s tackling grades among cornerbacks who played at least 480 snaps
He was in the top 10 with a missed tackle rate of just 5%
Revel was in the top 30 in the country with 19 defensive stops which were constituted as failures for the offense
He was also 30th for coverage and tied for 41st for overall defense
Revel allowed 19 catches for 250 yards with one touchdown and one pick on 42 targets
His reception rate of 45.2% tied for 23rd in the FBS
Revel said he studies film closely to learn opposing wide receivers’ strategies when they begin plays at the line of scrimmage
He also switches up his techniques so wideouts don’t get too comfortable
“Especially to me because I played press man my whole life
So just developing every day and just taking the little details
taking it into the next day and getting better and better
JUCO from DI taught me a lot of things that I had to fix and also taught me how to use my length and my speed.”
If Revel continues to improve as an outside corner
he should become a standout NFL player in the near future

There appears to be a ton of optimism surrounding the Dallas Cowboys rookie class. One of the reasons is that they feel as if Shavon Revel Jr. could wind up being a steal in the third round
Revel is coming off an ACL tear but many viewed him as a potential first-round pick if not for the injuries
the biggest question surrounding Revel is his recovery
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer provided the latest on the cornerback
Revel is not fully participating in rookie minicamps but is going through walkthroughs
“Brian Schottenheimer says that #Cowboys CB Shavon Revel Jr. will be limited as he recovers from his ACL injury, but he’s ‘progressing great’ and has been able to work with the team in walkthroughs,” Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com said via X
Revel was the No. 76 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Cornerback was an area Dallas needed to shore up this offseason and even with the injury, they feel as if Revel can be the guy. Another big-time player at the position, Trevon Diggs, is also dealing with a long-term injury.
Sometime in the summer appears to be when Revel will be fully cleared to play. For now, the update from Schottenheimer is a positive one as Revel continues on the road to recovery.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein liked a lot of what he assessed in Revel ahead of this draft in projecting him as a first or second-round selection. He too, though, is noting how he rehabs off the injury as, besides that, he slates him as a potential starter in some team’s secondary.
“Big, long and fast are the physical descriptors that stand out for the East Carolina corner. Revel is leggy when matching press release but he’s disruptive once he gets his hands on the wideout. He plays upright in man coverage, tends to allow small pockets of separation due to his high center of gravity and still needs improvement when it comes to finding and defending the deep ball, despite his ability to stay in phase with vertical routes.
“He has ideal length and good vision from zone, and he should continue to improve in that coverage with more experience. Revel suffered a torn ACL in September, but his measurables, explosiveness and upside give him a good chance to become an early starter.”

Dallas started that night with Boston College defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku at pick No. 44. Then in Round 3, they selected Shavon Revel at No. 76
The East Carolina cornerback has been labeled a potential steal
which will be true if he lives up to the pro comp from Bleacher Report’s Cory Giddings
Giddings praised Revel’s ability to play in multiple schemes and said the pro comp for the long-limbed cornerback is Riq Woolen of the Seattle Seahawks

The Dallas Cowboys have drafted East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. with the No. 76 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft
He is the first player drafted out of East Carolina since tackle D’Ante Smith in 2021
and the first defensive back from the school to be selected since Emmanuel McDaniel in 1996
Revel has had an interesting journey to get to this point
he went the junior college route and enrolled at Louisburg (N.C.) College in 2020 but did not play due to the COVID-19 pandemic
He only played in six games the following season before transferring to East Carolina
where he earned all-conference honors in 2023
He missed most of last season after he tore his ACL during practice

Revel was ranked No. 62 in Dane Brugler’s top 300 big board. Here’s what Brugler had to say about him in his annual NFL Draft guide:
Revel changed East Carolina’s approach on defense
because of his press-man skill set — he uses his length to disrupt routes and explosiveness to stay attached
Though he does a great job playing through the hands of receivers
he is guilty of grabbing and holding too much
That issue should continue to fade as he hones his technique in the NFL
but Revel is a boundary bully with terrific speed
Cornerback was one of the Cowboys’ biggest needs entering this draft
With Jourdan Lewis leaving in free agency and Trevon Diggs coming back from a significant knee injury
Dallas needed a starting caliber corner from this year’s draft
Revel is working his way back from his own season-ending knee injury
but he believes he’s on track to be ready by training camp
but has not started cutting or getting into breaks
He was recently cleared to progress his workouts
there’s a good chance he will be in the starting lineup Week 1
Caelen Carson and Andrew Booth are at the top of the depth chart
Diggs might not be ready early in the season
so Week 1 could be some combination of Bland
Revel fits exactly with what Dallas usually targets from cornerbacks in the draft
Dallas might’ve ended up with quite the bargain
Running back and wide receiver remain two of Dallas’ biggest needs
Jerry Jones said Tuesday that the Cowboys were working on two “pretty substantive trades” that could happen before or after the draft
Stephen Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that those two things are still in play
Wide receiver and running back have to be what they are referring to
Revel said he believes he would’ve been drafted in the first round
This is a pick the Cowboys could’ve made in the second round
The Dallas Cowboys addressed their need at cornerback in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting East Carolina‘s Shavon Revel Jr. with the No. 76 overall pick
If not for a season-ending torn ACL this past fall
Revel likely would have been a first round pick
but Dallas felt comfortable taking him when they did
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Saturday he thinks Revel will start on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP)
“I think he’ll start on PUP, but we’ll get him in here and see where he is,” Jones said. “Dr. Dan Cooper [Cowboys team doctor] did the surgery, and they feel optimistic. This kid’s very motivated, this man’s very motivated and there’s obviously an opportunity here — he’s young — that he exceeds expectations and starts practice during training camp, but we also know it could be later than that.”
Revel tore his ACL in practice as he made just three appearances in his final season for the Pirates. He would still, in just those three games, post eight tackles, a pair of PBUs and two interceptions with one going for a pick-six in what was his final collegiate appearance. Revel declared for the draft two months later.
Add in the numbers from his two seasons prior at East Carolina and Revel had 70 tackles, five being for loss, with 15 PBUs, three interceptions, a fumble recovery that went for a score and one sack. Most of that came in his junior year where he was an all-conference corner with 54 tackles, four for loss, 13 PBUs, an interception and his forced fumble with recovery plus his sack. Revel also spent two seasons, with his first one shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, at Louisburg College.
That earned him preseason honors coming into last season as an All-American as well as making the watchlists for the Nagurski Trophy and the Jim Thorpe Award, which the injury obviously ended his contention for.
A healthy Revel has the talent to be a starter for the Cowboys on defense. Revel said he’s continuing to make progress in his recovery.
“Right now, I’m running in a straight line,” Revel said. ” I can lift heavy. I’m lifting heavy. I’m running in a straight line. Haven’t gotten to the brakes and cutting yet, but I’ve been cleared by Dr. Cooper to at least progress my way up into doing things like that.
“So now that I’ve got time now, whenever I go back home or when I ever get to the facility, I’ll work on those things.”

The financial arrangement is “an important and replicable precedent” to accelerate electric vehicle charging
NY Green Bank President Andrew Kessler said
New York’s clean energy investment fund will provide a $60 million loan to Revel
the largest provider of public electric vehicle fast-charging in New York City
to more than triple the size of its public network in the city
The loan will be provided by NY Green Bank, a division of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and is the bank’s first charging infrastructure transaction. The deal comes at a time when the federal government is halting its support for EV charging and plans for a nationwide network
In total, New York’s loan will support Revel adding 267 new charging stalls across nine sites
Most will be completed within the next 12 months
“In support of the transition to a clean energy economy
it is critical that we continue to build electric vehicle infrastructure to ease the shift to EV ownership for more New Yorkers
especially those in urban areas,” Hochul said
“This significant investment addresses the key need of providing electric vehicle users in New York City with much needed public charging options while reducing local emissions.”
NY Green Bank President Andrew Kessler called the transaction “an important and replicable precedent we expect will help accelerate investment in this fast-growing sector.”
The state could have 6.4 million EVs on its roads by 2040
en route to the development of a 100% zero-emissions power sector
according to a Brattle Group report prepared for NYSERDA and the New York Department of Public Service
Revel has been preparing a “strategic portfolio” of potentially lucrative EV charging sites for the past few years
allowing the company to move ahead quickly
“These sites are now shovel-ready,” Reig said
“With the critical support from NY Green Bank
we are ready to take New York’s EV economy to the next level with a fast-charging network rivaling any other top tier city.”
