while Belgium came from behind to edge out Spain in a rematch of the 2009 U16 European Championship final
Les Bleus held on to beat Russia 56-53 for their first win of the tournament
The Belgians were within 47-44 with six minutes to go and when Julie Vanloo scored in the lane with 50 seconds remaining
The captain then hit a pair of free-throws and Spain made a three-pointer in the closing seconds for the final score
Vanloo finished with 16 points and Emma Meesseman added 14 to go along with eight rebounds
Kaleena Lewis had 21 points and Jewell Loyd added 19 points
It's already been ten rounds in Ligue 2 BKT already this season
and the table is starting to take shape both at the summit
the race for the play-offs and in the relegation scrap
fifth) match in a row as they set the pace at the top
whilst Martigues and Troyes look like they are putting up a fight at the bottom of the table
where Rodez pulled off the mightiest of comebacks against Lorient right in the last minute of added-time.
Rodez claimed a vital draw against summit-chasers FC Lorient in a dramatic 3-3 draw at home
Les Merlus thought they were home and dry by the last half hour
after taking a 3-1 lead against the Aveyron outfit
Waniss Taïbi would give the hosts some hope of getting back into the game with a well-hit strike from just outside the box (89').
the unthinkable: goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi rushed in front of the Lorient defence at the near post and buried a header at the 97th minute to save a vital point for Rodez at 3-3
it significantly hindered their push at the top of the table
For their top of the table rivals in Paris - it was certainly good news

But Paris FC's lead at the top of the table is certainly becoming more fashionable for the Parisien footballing crowd who once again flocked to Stade Charléty to see their side runout 2-1 winners against a combative Grenoble side
Maxime Lopez squeezed in a tight finish to open the scoring for PFC
scoring his first Ligue 2 goal in the process (37')
Only minutes later would Illan Kebbal double the hosts' advantage from a well-struck direct free-kick
as the league leaders began to cruise just before the end of the first half (45')

The side from the Alps fought back against the side at the summit of the league
as the Ligue 2 top scorer Pape Meïssa Ba gave hope of a comeback when he halved the deficit with a low finish (82')
But it was too little too late for Grenoble
as Paris secured a straight fifth win in the league and their eighth so far of the season

Rodez have taken a liking to entertaining goal-scoring draws of late
After their dramatic draw against Lorient where goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi scored a wondrous last-minute equaliser
they repeated the scoreline against the league leaders
Nolan Galves opened the scoring for the visitors (10') before a strike from Lohann Doucet equalised around 20 minutes later (34')
Only minutes later saw the visitors go ahead once more thanks to a brace from Ibrahima Baldé (37' & 48')
Maxime Lopez grabbed one back for Les Parisiens (53') before Jean-Phillipe Krasso complete the comeback for the league leaders (67')
Laurent Batlles managed his side to his first win as Clermont manager
with Damian Da Silva (45') and Mohamed Douane (76') netting for the hosts to grab a vital three points
with Tosin stepping up for the away side (81') but it was too little to stop the defeat for Lorient.
A late penalty from Hacéne Benali was enough for Red Star to secure a second straight win in Ligue 2 against fellow promoted side Martigues
but a handball offence right at the death would offer them the chance to secure the three points
Benali confidently dispatched to secure a vital three points in the race to stay up in Ligue 2

Zinédine Zidane’s eldest son has decided to end of footballing career at the age of 29. Spanish news outlet AS officially broke the story on Tuesday that Enzo Zidane is officially retiring after being without a club since the 2022-23 season
trained at his father’s former club Real Madrid
playing for their youth team from 2004-2014
he’d go on to make only one first-team appearance for the famous Spanish side
scoring in that lone appearance in a 2016 Copa del Rey tie against Cultural Leonesa
Zidane moved to Alaves in 2017 before joining Lausanne Sport in the Swiss Super League the following year when Alaves terminated his contract
He’d score two goals in 16 appearances in Switzerland before making temporary stops in the Segunda Division in Spain and the Portuguese top flight
making 15 appearances that season as they narrowly avoided relegation
His final stop was in the Spanish third tier
where he’d score once in 28 appearances for Fuenlabrada
the 29-year-old never established himself as an elite playmaker like his legendary father
He earned one cap for the Spanish under-15 team and two with the French u-19 team

Be one of the first to try our new activity feed
It’s an entry-level endurance bike that just might turn a lot of people who buy it into racers
It took us only a few pedal strokes to get the sense that the Framed Rodez rides well above its price point
the 150-millimeter head tube (size 54cm) places the rider noticeably upright
and 73-degree head tube angle all point to a stable
Yet this frame is up to the task of pushing through tough climbs and hard sprints
The bottom bracket junction is burly and the chainstays are fairly short
contributing to a short 979-millimeter wheelbase
That likely has something to do with the bike’s surprising peppiness
It gets up to speed quickly and stays there
this is exactly the sort of first bike that can make someone fall in love with cycling—sporty
The workhorse SRAM Rival drivetrain shifts reliably and with a positive snap
a benefit for newer riders who might otherwise be tempted to look down to make sure they shifted properly
with a compact 50/34-tooth crankset and 11-26 cassette
The Avid BB7-S mechanical road disc brakes are a curious addition; they provide reliable stopping power in dry conditions and just okay braking power in wet weather
But the characteristic Avid squeal remains
We’d take a higher price tag in exchange for more reliable hydraulic power
Quick-releases front and rear keep things simple for new riders
The bright yellow paint job and blocky text isn’t exactly subtle
But the sleek lines and internal cable routing clean things up a bit
the high-vis yellow might make newer riders feel a bit safer out on the road

The June 2 match between Bordeaux and Rodez was stopped shortly after Lucas Buades gave Rodez a 1-0 lead on the final day of the season. While Rodez players celebrated, a Bordeaux fan stepped onto the pitch and pushed Buades to the ground.
The match referee stopped proceedings and sent both teams back to the locker room and Buades was diagnosed with a concussion and the game did not resume
Bordeaux were involved in a two-way battle with Metz for the second promotion spot behind second-division champion Le Havre
Metz beat Bastia 3-2 on the final day and will be promoted unless Bordeaux manage to overturn the committee's decision
Bordeaux said in a statement that the ruling was "as incomprehensible as it is disproportionate" and that it would refer the case to France's national Olympic committee
With six French leagues titles, four French Cups, three League Cups and success on the European stage, the southwestern club are one of the most decorated in the country. Bordeaux last won a league title in 2009, before the emergence of Paris Saint-Germain

Thomas Wandschneider wanted to end his international Para badminton career a few years ago
He had won countless medals at World and European Championships

The German is one of Para badminton’s most decorated players
His glittering career has seen him claim 25 medals at major championships so far

But one goal outshines everything: participation in the Paralympics
That's why the points for the Paralympics are more important to me than the medals at the European Championships," explained Wandschneider
Wandschneider won both the singles and doubles in the men’s WH 1 and aims to defend both titles in France next week
"I can get more out of myself and continue to improve at my age," he said
he wants to have a new wheelchair made in 2019 to replace his 14-year-old sports equipment as he follows his Paralympic dream
that just makes me feel good and motivates me,” Wandschneider smiled
"Then you do not even notice that you have any disability at all
In 2019 he will face a year full of travels
“I have to play a lot of international tournaments for the Paralympics ranking and I'll be travelling a lot,” he admitted
Wandschneider will give everything for the big goal
but one thing is certain: his attitude will not fail
"My life has shaped me a lot and gave me the bite to persevere and fight through me again and again.”

Atheist or believer , we all give thanks to 17th-century monk Dom Pérignon for the gifts of blending and better-regulated bubbles that have made Champagne
who baptised King Clovis in Reims in the 5th century
ensuring that all future royal French baptisms would be fêted with the local wine
The Church’s more austere branches might not have chosen such close association with this extravagant beverage
but it’s hard to argue with a hundred coronations and a billion weddings
It took Rodez 10 years to re-establish the holy trinity of vines
topsoil and the deeper chalk that the roots must penetrate for the grapes to reach their full potential
He says: ‘The first part of the process was easy for me but hard for the vine,’ which had to be persuaded to burrow deeper for moisture
The second was easy for the vine but hard for him: that was when seven generations of pressure came to bear
Few people now recall how hard life was for the Champenois before the 1960s
as almost every European war for two millennia raged across their fields
and Dom Pérignon’s innovations made small-scale winemaking expensive and difficult
Rodez’s family sold their grapes to négociants
until his great-grandfather enterprisingly saved up for a wine press
This may explain why their line continues unto the ninth generation – and Grandpapa Eric today has hopes for the tenth
who is currently not much bigger than a vine shoot

‘You know why we clink glasses?’ asks Eric: ‘Because the other four senses are already involved in the enjoyment of wine; only sound is lacking.’

Why invent an entire cuisine when you can nurture what you have

Vollering gains bonus time with second-place finish while Kopecky retains yellow
It was the first professional road victory for the Dutch cyclocross specialist and came after Van de Velde's solo escape was snuffed out with just 200 metres to go on Tuesday's stage to Montignac-Lascaux
"There were so many people on the course and I really wanted to fight for every second
Kastelijn led the mountains classification after being on the attack on stage 2 but ceded it to her teammate Van De Velde on stage 3
Fenix-Deceuninck put two riders in the move - Kastelijn and Marthe Truyen - to keep the jersey
we wanted to be in the break for some points for the classification but I wasn't that explosive and Anouska and the other girl (Kathryn Hammes) took all the points
I was really happy Marthe was with me and so I could stay relaxed
We had a gap of 10 minutes - I didn't expect it in the beginning but it's amazing that we win here
"Yesterday we were really proud and we are still proud of everybody
It's incredible that yesterday we already had two mountain jerseys and today the victory
It's the best Tour de France so far - it's just amazing."
The mountainous finale also had plenty of intrigue for the general classification
The day's escape gained over 10 minutes on race leader Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx)
with Audrey Cordon-Ragot (Human Powered Health) holding the virtual maillot jaune for most of the day
after SD Worx sufficiently brought the gap down
Kopecky herself launched a solo move on the penultimate climb to nullify Cordon-Ragot's advantage
Kopecky came under attack on the climb from Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar)
but her move was deftly negated by Demi Vollering
the yellow jersey group made contact with the remnants of the early breakaway
and Demi Vollering (SD Worx) sprinted to second thinking she'd won
Breakaway rider Anouska Koster (Uno-X) held off the elite chasers to take third on the stage
Koster also moved into the mountains classification lead after taking the most points on the stage
Vollering gained 16 seconds on Kopecky and 10 seconds on her rivals Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar)
Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM) and Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (AG Insurance-Soudal-QuickStep)
Vollering moved into second overall at 43 seconds thanks to the time bonus
with Moolman-Pasio taking the third spot at 51 seconds on the same time as Niewiadoma
Kastelijn climbed into seventh overall at 1:00
with stage 2 winner Liane Lippert (Movistar) eight at 1:39
Juliette Labous (Team dsm-firmenich) is ninth at 1:48 and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ-SUEZ) rounds out the top 10 at 1:49
The longest stage of the Tour de France Femmes 2023 was the first real day for the general classification contenders
the Col de Crayssac coming at kilometre 16.5
Henrietta Christie (Human Powered Health) launched the first attack to claim the points on the category 4 climb
before the summit Anouska Koster (Uno-X) led the charge to reel her in and claimed the two points ahead of Kathrin Hammes (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB)
tying stage 3 attacker Julie Van De Velde in the mountains classification
Thalita De Jong and Jeanne Korevaar (Liv Racing Teqfind)
Yara Kastelijn and Marthe Truyen (Fenix-Deceuninck)
Romy Kasper (AG Insurance-Soudal QuickStep)
Audrey Cordon-Ragot (Human Powered Health) and Alice Arzuffi (Ceratizit-WNT)
They were chased by Sarah Roy (Canyon-Sram)
Tamara Dronova (Israel-Premier Tech Roland)
and Teniel Campbell (Jayco AlUla) but with Dronova in the top 10
the peloton quickly brought them back and the lead group were let go
The breakaway soon opened a huge gap - 5:50 after 47km
putting Cordon-Ragot in the virtual race lead
the leaders' gap yawned out to over 9 minutes where Koster and Hammes again led over the Côte de Falgeyras
The maximum lead for the escape came with 64km to go when the leaders had 10:16 but soon began being steadily reduced by the peloton
Kasper led the breakaway through the sprint in Rignac with 47km to go
a brisk chase from SD Worx began to very rapidly slash their advantage
and on the 6.5km-long Côte de Colombiès
the Dutch team carved minutes out of the gap
Mischa Bredewold shot out of the peloton as the leaders had 6 minutes
and was closely followed by former world champion Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek)
the race leader Kopecky attacked and Nieuwiadoma leapt across
but Lizzie Deignan kept them from gaining any advantage
the fight for the mountain points heated up with Koster and Hammes sprinting flat out for the points and kept pouring on the pressure after the summit as their advantage hovered just over four minutes and falling
Ragot sprinted out of the breakaway to claim the time bonus sprint at 28km to go
followed by Kastelijn but a series of vicious accelerations first from Van Vleuten
then from the maillot jaune slashed into the escape's lead and shattered the chasing group
On the descent toward the Côte de Moyrazès
holding only three minutes on the yellow jersey
just in time for Kastelijn to launch a move
Cordon-Ragot was keen to the challenge and leapt across
With Cordon-Ragot unable to hold the wheel of the Dutch rider and the gap falling
Kopecky attacked solo to save her race lead
Cordon-Ragot's hopes of taking the yellow jersey faded
while the chasing group behind Kopecky closed in
On the final climb of the Côte de Lavernhe
Kastelijn held 1:29 on the remnants of the breakaway as Van Vleuten attacked and caught Kopecky
and blew past most of the former attackers
Van Vleuten struggled to hold the wheel as Demi Vollering attacked over the summit
She had teammate Sheyla Gutierrez for help and came across
sending Gutierrez out the back and Vollering then refused to work to stay clear of Kopecky's chasing group
The demanding uphill run to the line further reduced the yellow jersey group and brought back all of the escapees
as Vollering jumped away thinking she'd won the stage but came in second

The museum dedicated to the artist Pierre Soulages in?Rodez

Electronic shifting has been around for a while now
and bikes that come with it often carry a *cough* decent price tag
Framed Bikes is changing that standard by putting SRAM’s eTap on rollback with the Rodez
What makes their road bike stand out from other carbon bikes
maybe they’re just not used to how much these things usually go for…
We’re guessing the use of the mechanical SRAM eTap group matched with the HY/RD brakes might be one of the areas Framed was able to save on the build costs
The full SRAM Red eTap drivetrain includes a 52/36 tooth crank and an 11-26 11-speed cassette
the $3,300 price tag is a fairly aggressive offer

Are we really pretending that we don’t understand how Framed can have an eTap equipped bike that’s so much less than a Trek or Specialized
Not everybody is willing to pay the ‘hype’ markup from Trek or Specialized or any other big brand
“…you can put lipstick on a pig
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should
Does it come with tweezers to help with the carbon splinters
So I can see them being able to offer this bike at probably a break even price just to get consumers to buy
I always find it funny that people are willing to buy something like an expensive bike online without even having the ability to take it for a test ride first
You are basically buying a parts package and a frame the I am sure was some open mold frame from China thrown in
I am not a big fan of Specialized or Trek but at least you know what you are getting
As far as buying a bike without the test ride
those buying custom frames are taking that leap of faith all the time
Something that bikes Direct customers have been doing for years
Your still getting a complete build kit with eTap for a deal
Do bikes direct customers ever actually get any good money for their frames on ebay
how well is the front 140mm rotor going to work when it barely touches the bottom of the caliper meant for 160mm…
Allow me to defend Framed a bit from the bike snobs
we have a LOT people that choose Framed bikes due to their cost and value
They seem to be pretty happy with their bikes
I know people that have Framed carbon and aluminum fat bikes with zero issues
You can poopah Framed because they are a “budget” brand
but you can’t poopah them for filling a niche
But saying that “a LOT” of people here are choosing their bikes is a bit of an overstatement
when your selling point is they are “pretty good even”
My critical comment earlier was directed at the way the article was written though
as if it was some big mystery as to how Framed could sell a bike at this cost with this spec
BikesDirect has a very nice titanium eTap build for the same price
specialized and trek – nearly the most overpriced bikes by a mile
Also – building some bikes and Apple/Sony type of things into their bikes that forces you to buy their wheels
Specialized has lost touch (as well as their dealers) of who their customer actually is and what they want to buy and are able to afford to buy
My open mold frame has about 6000 km this year so far
I can appreciate people wanting to believe that there is an advantage to a brand named bike when they have paid a premium
I am assuming that Framed offers a warranty that is just as good as any of the brand names so this seems like a zero risk proposition

Bordeaux vs Rodez Ligue 2 match abandoned: Fan-player altercation leaves striker Lucas Buades concussed | OneFootballFootball Today
The final home game of the season for Bordeaux against Rodez left people in shock as an altercation between a supporter and a player unfolded on the pitch
For Bordeaux
the match was crucial in their bid for promotion to Ligue 1
Their hopes were dealt a severe blow when Rodez capitalised on defensive errors, taking a 1-0 lead courtesy of Lucas Buades’ clinical half-volley between the legs of Bordeaux goalkeeper Gaetan Poussin
However, the jubilation quickly turned to horror when a Bordeaux supporter stormed onto the field
The Rodez striker had to be stretchered off and is in hospital
The game stopped immediately as both teams went to the dressing rooms
The interruption lasted for approximately 40 minutes
Referee Nicolas Rainville later addressed the media in a press conference
Buades had suffered a concussion from the altercation
The repercussions of this incident remain unclear
with discussions underway to determine if they will play the game again
However, given the severity of the situation, Bordeaux may face additional consequences beyond the loss of the match
The incident has cast a shadow over the club’s season. It will tarnish their reputation and raise more questions about security measures at football matches
As the football world processes this shocking incident
it serves as a stark reminder of the need for increased vigilance and measures to ensure the safety of players and supporters alike
Bordeaux must now navigate the aftermath of this unfortunate event
as they reflect on what could have been a crucial moment in their promotion campaign

Just a couple of weeks ago we saw a new 27.5+ hardtail from the fat bike specialists at Framed as they got a bit skinnier
Now they have taken that tire trimming to the extreme
but it looks to take a bit of a cue from their trail riding bikes
with an affordable take on a mid-level performance carbon bike
Get a closer look with us after the break…
While Framed already had an aluminum multi-surface gravel/cross bike in the catalog (and a couple of fixies and hybrids)
The carbon framed Rodez is their first foray
starting off with a disc brake bike aimed at the type of rider who might already have a fat bike
but is looking to get around a bit quicker on the hard surfaces
This first iteration of the Rodez gets spec’d with a SRAM 2×11 Rival group
For wheels they spec the same 25.6mm wide outer/21mm inner width Draw 2.1P rims from Alex that they put on their cross bike
and could work with some fatter tires (it looks like 28s should still fit
although it would have maybe sweetened the deal even more if it had thru-axles
Pretty much the rest of the spec is house-branded components (except for a steel-railed Selle Italia saddle) which goes a long way to keeping the overall cost of the bike low
Like they have on most of their other bikes
Framed says they offer additional customization that should let you swap in some upgrades as needed on the complete bike
making it a pretty solid deal for the fat biker looking to hit the asphalt

Pierre Soulages Master Of Textural Black Abstractions Dies Aged 102
France) French artist internationally known as “the painter of black and light,” who created a vast body of abstract paintings has died aged 102
Soulages forged a career of great inventiveness and longevity that sealed his place in art history
It opens a mental field all its own – PS
Soulages was fascinated by the stone monoliths and other archaeological artifacts displayed at the local natural history museum
Deeply influenced by the concept of prehistoric men painting on the walls of caves
prehistoric art became his main source of visual inspiration
Pierre Soulages Courtesy Timothy Taylor London
Soulages moved to Paris at the age of eighteen
where he practiced as an artist until he was drafted into military service in Montpellier at the start of World War II
Following the war Soulages returned to Paris
where he opened a studio and held his first exhibition at the Salon des Indépendants in 1947
“My instrument is not black but the light reflected from the black.” Black
is the essential foundation of Soulages’ work
a large proportion of which is housed in Rodez’ devoted Soulages Museum
is united by his fascination for the changing appearance of black in light
Since the beginnings of his career as an artist Soulages has consistently been drawn to the reflective and absorptive qualities of black paint
Soulages began exploring the relationship between black and light in the 1940s in the form of boldly gestural abstract paintings
Soulages began to forgo colour entirely in favour of thickly encrusted all-black paintings that he calls ‘ultra black’ or outrenoir
cardboard and miscellaneous objects from his studio to apply
scrape and hatch paint into defined areas of the canvas
Soulages once remarked: ‘I found that the light reflected by the black surface elicits certain emotions in me
The fact that light can come from the color which is supposedly the absence of light is already quite moving
and it is interesting to see how this happens
I realized I needed to find a word that could convey the mental field opened up by these paintings.’
In celebration of the artist’s 100th birthday in 2019
the Louvre honoured the French painter with a solo show
the only other artists given this privilege during their lifetimes have been Picasso and Chagall
Soulages has been the subject of dozens of major retrospectives held at institutions across the world
including the National Art Museum of China
Bern; Taipei Fine Arts Museum; and The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

Acclaimed French artist Miguel Chevalier will unveil a monumental installation at the Rodez Cathedral in France made in collaboration with the Century Moulages and IN SITU
Entitled “Digital Supernova,” Chevalier will project 30 unique meshes of colored light onto the Gothic arches of the historic establishment spanning 30 meters long
the immersive experience will display “imaginary sky maps” comprised of “images of luminous explosions of massive stars and remnants of supernovas,” as per the artist in a statement
The artist is working with astrophysicist Fabio Acero to accurately depict the cosmic phenomena
“Visitors are invited to walk around the cathedral
These digital constellations of pixels immerse visitors in an atmosphere bathed in light and open on the infinite,” said the artist
its two in-house services have thus far not been integrated into Air France's network
All of Air France's frequent flyer benefits will also be extended to Amelia flights
Amelia International operates both in-house routes 11x weekly in its regular schedule, the ch-aviation schedules module shows. However, due to ongoing movement restrictions in France, it currently flies only 3x weekly to Rodez (using the Embraer regional jets)
Flights to Clermont-Ferrand were suspended at the end of October 2020
Amelia is the sole carrier serving Rodez on a scheduled basis. Clermont-Ferrand sees Air France services to Paris CDG, operated by HOP! (France), as well as scheduled Ryanair services to Porto
Separately, Amelia International announced that it would operate five scheduled flights from Clermont-Ferrand to each of Nice and Paris-Orly between December 19
These services will cater to an expected uptick in domestic demand around the holiday period

has been ranked the best place to grow old in France
in a new list that compared 449 towns using criteria including life expectancy
Newspaper Le Figaro released its new ranking today (November 23)
It compared small cities and towns with more than 20,000 inhabitants
to see how positive of a place they are to grow old
towns in the south-west of France did best
Rodez is well-supplied from a health perspective; it has a respectable 3.28 cardiologists per 10,000 people
and 0.68 at-home care workers per 1,000 residents aged 75 or over
It also has one of the largest selections of pharmacies in the country
Mr Teyssèdre explained that “to keep doctors in the area”
the town had built five health centres in the past six years
“So we're effectively plugging the gap when older doctors retire,” the mayor said
Its older residents are also relatively active; 18.2% of people aged 60 or over are enrolled in a sports club of some kind
and a third (33.2%) take part in some kind of group sporting activity
“People from Rodez take up sport when they’re little and then continue it all their lives,” said Mr Teyssèdre
Rodez also scored well on pollution levels
with an average level of 2.04 ug/m3 for PM10 particles
which are some of the most damaging to health
The mayor said that pollution levels had “dropped 18% in 10 years in the centre of town”
which he said was due to policies designed to increase public transport (particularly bus) usage
This stops people driving around and idling in town “for hours
The south-west of the country did particularly well in the ranking
with 13 of the top 20 places taken by towns in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie
Five Occitanie towns take up half of the top 10
President of the Occitanie Regional Council
quality of life: the region is doing everything it can to offer its residents a healthy and sustainable lifestyle
and to make Occitanie a region where life is good
So I'm delighted to see it so well represented in this ranking.”
People in the south-west region have particularly high longevity
life expectancy at 60 is 28 years for women and 23.7 years for men (one of the highest figures in France)
In Auch - but also in the nearby smaller towns of Colomiers
and Tournefeuille - the over-60s are among the most active in France
Between 18% and 25% of them are members of sports clubs
compared to just 6.5% in Paris and just over 9% in Marseille
there are more than five pharmacies for every 10,000 inhabitants
compared with less than three per 10,000 in most towns in the Paris region
Cahors also has good access to emergency services and to GPs (18.3 per 10,000 inhabitants aged 15 and over)
private nurses (29.27 per 10,000 inhabitants) and physiotherapists (21.83 per 10,000 inhabitants)
did well due to the number of beds for the elderly
including in Ehpads (elderly care homes) and long-term care units: there are 123 per 1,000 people aged over 75
Ms Delga added that the region has also been working hard to open new health centres
and recruit more doctors and medical professionals
Judges used 22 criteria across five categories to rank the 449 towns
Incidence of serious illnesses - including cancer
and the number of specialists and nurses per person
Sports practice levels among people age 60 and over
Data came from national sources including Insee (Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques)
All towns on mainland France with more than 20,000 inhabitants were included
except for the Corsican cities of Ajaccio and Bastia
See the full list and more details on the criteria used on the Le Figaro website here.

AS Monaco returned to winning ways with a superb victory over Rodez in the Coupe de France
in a game where Wissam Ben Yedder’s masterful hat-trick dominated the headlines
Knowing Rodez would provide a stern test and what a force they are to be reckoned with at home
Adi Hutter selected a strong side for this one
The in-form Rodez immediately put ASM on the back foot
as they unleashed some dangerous early sighters
But Monaco held firm and took the lead themselves on 10 minutes when Ben Yedder expertly fired home his penalty that was won by Folarin Balogun to score his 250th club goal of his career
Rodez responded admirably and were quickly back on level terms through Stone Mambo in front of their delighted fans
Hutter opted to bring on exciting youngster Maghnes Akliouche for the second stanza
for the talented playmaker really helped tilt the tie in Monaco’s favour
Adding some extra dynamism and unpredictability
it wasn’t long until Monaco surged back ahead courtesy of Ben Yedder
who tapped in from close range following some incisive work by Akliouche and Balogun
Les Monegasques then doubled their advantage eight minutes later
as Ben Yedder superbly applied the finishing touch to Kassoum Ouattara’s exceptional cross
“It’s very important to have qualified tonight
I wasn’t very happy with the first 45 minutes
We played too slowly in transitions for my taste
and it was too easy for Rodez to organise themselves
especially with the block they had put in place
and we were finally able to show all our qualities
I would still like to congratulate our opponents
especially in the first half,” explained the Austrian tactician
although ASM held the ascendancy in terms of overall expected goals (2.65 to 2.60)
possession (67% to 33%) and passes in the opposition half (292 to 112)
the fact Rodez edged them for open play expected goals (1.82 to 1.69) total shots (17 to 11) and shots inside the box (12 to 9) illustrated what a tough examination the Ligue 2 side provided
Up next for Les Rouge et Blanc is a colossal Ligue 1 encounter with Olympique de Marseille
where they’ll be looking for a huge win to get their Champions League qualification hopes back on track given they’ve lost two of their last three league matches
“This clash against Olympique de Marseille will be completely different
because a Coupe de France match and a Ligue 1 match have nothing to do with each other
We will have to be ready for the fight,” insisted Hutter
