To mark International Women's Rights Day on March 8 each year, many venues are offering a feminist and festive program to continue the fight and raise awareness among as many people as possible. Near Les Lilas, in the Seine-Saint-Denis département a memorial dedicated to women in resistance and deportation is due for completion in 2025 a ceremony will be held here to pay tribute to women who fought in the Resistance and were deported As a reminder, Fort de Romainville is a military structure built to protect the Parisian capital in the 19th century and especially during the Nazi occupation of France the Fort de Romainville served as an internment camp for deportees before their transfer to concentration and extermination camps The camp is known for having mainly housed women involved in the French Resistance and this memorial pays tribute to them decades later In homage to these women Resistance fighters deported under the Occupation, a ceremony will be held in front of the Fort de Romainville on Saturday March 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the presence of local elected representatives The ceremony will also include a presentation of the Memorial project and its off-site program for 2025 Refer your establishment, click herePromote your event, click here on behalf of its joint venture with QuadReal Property Group (QuadReal) the acquisition of a 7,000m² (c.75,300ft²) ultra last mile logistics building in Romainville Valor intends to undertake a light refurbishment to improve the unit’s environmental performance and ESG credentials The property sits on a 10,000m² (c.107,600ft²) plot and has a 35m yard and a 10m clear height It has been acquired with vacant possession allowing Valor to progress its refurbishment programme immediately Paris is one of Valor’s high-conviction markets €200m (c.£170m) of investment over the last 12 months Senior vice president at Quadreal Thomas Blangy said: “This is an attractive acquisition and one that is firmly aligned with our global investment strategy of targeting high growth urban logistics hubs in key markets “Together with Valor we have built a high-quality portfolio of well-located industrial and logistics assets representing over 625,000 sqm of space across Europe and the UK.” Reuben joined Akabo Media as assistant editor of CiTTi - one of Logistics Manager's sister publications - in October 2023 He has worked in digital and print publications since graduating in MA Publishing in 2022 He holds a great interest in transport technology and innovation Recognizing the developing world’s diminishing agricultural space the project aims to meet the growing demands for crop cultivation in urban environments Conscious of this need, the city of Romainville has been supporting sustainable and forward-thinking alternatives to small plot-based agriculture. Though they have implemented many rooftop and allotment gardens in the past decade, the Vertical Farm represents a comprehensive dedication to sustainability, education, and local economic participation. Courtesy of IlimelgoThe building is split into two wings to aid crop growth, taking advantage of sunlight and limiting shade. Organic building materials such as straw bale and wood fiber insulation add to the sustainability of the project. The form of the Vertical Farm, a rectangular prism with a triangular roofline, is a reference to the existing architecture in the area.  Courtesy of IlimelgoThe ground floor of the building houses educational space, offering workshops and an instructional garden to teach the public about cultivation. Also included on the first floor is a place for crops to be sold. The Vertical Farm creates a small production loop, growing produce in the same place where is available for purchase by local residents. Courtesy of IlimelgoThe upper floors feature spaces for bio-intensive farming using culture containers. Specially irrigated to provide healthy environments for specific crops, the containers also allow for a flexible and dynamic organization of space. The facility houses a mushroom farm, orchards, a henhouse, and laboratories that experiment in seed germination. A Vauban-type military defense fort located in the town of Les Lilas since 1867, it is best known for its role during the Second World War when it served as an internment camp for 7,000 people Originally built to protect Paris at the request of Adolphe Thiers it served as a refuge for the city's inhabitants during the Franco-German war of 1870 Since 1984, the Fort has been home to the TDF tower, designed by architect Claude Vasconi and built in a decommissioned part of the enclosure. The 141-meter tower serves the whole of France, transmitting radio and television programs. For six years, the site was also a non-visitable annex of the Musée National de la Marine a new project has been underway to transform part of the Fort into a memorial site le programme est mis à jour en fonction des annonces officielles Five Parisian galleries are joining forces to open spaces in a new four-building arts complex in Romainville, a north-eastern suburb of Paris. The 11,000-sq m industrial venue, called Komunuma, alluding to community or commune, is designed by the French architects Freaks and is due to open in October. The Romainville project represents the first “collaborative alliance between public and private sectors creating a small art ecosystem,” Fondation Fiminco and the participants say in a statement. It is not the first gallery outpost in the city’s suburbs—Thaddaeus Ropac opened a space in a former boilermaker factory in nearby Pantin in 2012 to show large-scale works. Komunuma’s plans to coordinate events with Ropac and the CNEAI, a national contemporary art centre in Pantin, include Jeunes Création holding its 70th anniversary exhibition at Ropac Pantin next July. Additionally, a new regional art centre, Frac Île-de-France/Les Réserves, will be inaugurated at Komunuma in 2020 and other galleries are expected to move in at a later date. housed in a 1940s former manufacturing plant in Romainville news1 June 2022C’est officiel: Hauser & Wirth will open a space in Paris next year Located in a townhouse near the Champs-Élysées this will be the mega gallery’s 16th location worldwide The Barcelona-based studio of Benedetta Tagliabue in collaboration with the Paris firm ilimelgo architects an old events hall in the city of Romainville enhancing the structure of what had been the Polish Pavilion in the 1937 Universal Exposition Paying tribute to the city’s industrial past the new cultural center named Le Pavillon – all of 2,735 square meters – includes an auditorium with retractable stands which reused the metal structure of the exhibition pavilion as a roof The new intervention has freed it of those additions Incorporated into the dialogue are two new faceted volumes wrapped in a double skin that combines exposed concrete – painted in different colors – with perforated metal sheets The street-facing facade presents large openings in a rhythmic play of opacities and transparencies The spatial organization encourages continuous and simultaneous holding of activities in the center of town Arquitectos ArchitectsMiralles Tagliabue EMBT - Benedetta Tagliabue (arquitecta architect); Elena Nedelcu (directora de proyecto project director); Ana Otelea Yasmine Fahmy (equipo team); Arquitecto local local architect: Ilimelgo architectes - Valerian Amalric Maxime Potiron (arquitectos architects); Félicie Botton Colaboradores CollaboratorsIETI (ingeniería engineering); Bureau d’études TCE (instalaciones mechanical engineering); AVLS (acústica acoustics); Land’Act (paisajismo landscape); Tourny (escenografía scenography); MEBI (presupuesto Presupuesto Budget8.414.521,22  € (3.076 €/m²) there arent any match using your search terms Your purchase helps support NPR programming. for local consumption the project provides extensive space for food production as well as public areas for agricultural architectural and technical education and innovation The Cité Maraîchère aims to catalyse an urban future where sustainable food production is efficiently planned into the built environment Urban agriculture is one strategy to respond to the increased demand for food from ever-growing populations and to reduce carbon emissions involved in the transportation of produce from rural farm (or overseas producer) to city Although the 2,060 sq m built complex can be classed as industrial in function terracotta-hued framed buildings – is more akin to domestic architecture natural light is maximised for food growing Designed as a controlled bioclimatic environment the complex
