The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Volleyball Foundation Festival in Bhubaneswar, India, made history on 4 October 2024.
The festival broke the Guinness World Record for the most players in volleyball exhibition match, bringing together 430 players in a single game. This remarkable achievement beat the previous record by a remarkable 136 people, with the previous record standing at 294, set by Association sportive de Saint Genis Les Ollieres section volleyball and the town of Saint Genis Les Ollieres (both France) during the Téléthon 2011 in Saint Genis Les Ollieres, France, on 3 December 2011.

The Guinness World Record was broken during an 8-hour long match with a total score of 736 – 756
The champion teams from the Brahmaputra Volleyball League also participated in breaking the record
Organised in a partnership between the FIVB Volleyball Foundation
KIIT and KISS and held at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and KISS Athletic Stadium
the festival brought together over an astonishing 40,000 attendees
including 5000 young volleyball fans who participated
The festival featured 60 outdoor courts and multiple indoor venues
offering a variety of volleyball activities that encouraged fun and inclusion
This Guinness World Record and the success of the festival serves as a clear testament to the power of volleyball in connecting communities globally
