After the first fundraiser raising 3.5 million euros [3.64 million USD] for its urban farm of 1,300 m² in Sartrouville (Yvelines)
the start-up will now raise 85 million euros [88.34 million USD] to open its next five farms in the Paris region
with a surface area from 3,000 to 10,000m²
Champerché plans to eventually expand beyond the Paris region
“Our number one objective with the Sartrouville farm is to multiply our production volume tenfold compared to our first test farm,” explains Antoine Fuyet
who founded the company with his two brothers
The company’s motto is to reach food self-sufficiency everywhere on a local scale
with prices accessible to all and the lowest environmental impact possible
we will set up the farms in a given area and analyze which crops are already present
And we will then produce in order to complete the needs of the area and replace what is being imported.”
Champerché wants to produce 100 tons of fruit and vegetables daily by 2030
From salads to aromatic herbs and micro-plants
nearly all 150 varieties are grown in bioponics
From homemade prototype to urban farmIt is after a trip to Asia that the idea of Champerché began to take form
“We were hosted by some locals after getting into an accident
They fed us although they had almost nothing for themselves.” Upon returning to France
Antoine Fuyet and his brothers made a promise to themselves to find solutions to provide food
he naturally turned to agriculture because “it is the sector with the greatest impact on the environment worldwide.” The first urban farm prototype was developed in the living room of their family home
and the very first farm was officially created in 2018
with marketing following two years later.
Bioponic cultureThe three brothers chose bioponics
“It is like a fusion between soilless culture and organic agriculture,” explains Antoine Fuyet
“A production method that combines the best of both types of cultivation: the yield of soilless cultivation and the advantage of organic farming
We work with bacteria and fungi that help degrade the organic matter
as well as worms and mites that work on our nutrient solution.” This is a way to focus only on the varieties selected for their taste and nutritional qualities.
everything is done so that the production will have the lowest environmental impact possible: saving water and energy
and short-circuit distribution (average delivery distance of 11 km)
“Our system uses up to 90% less water thanks to our closed circuit - the recovered water is put back into the gutters - and we need 15 Kwh to produce and deliver 1 kilo of basil with our low consumption LED system.” Another characteristic of the start-up is that it only sets up its farms on surface areas that already exist.” The company also wants to divide its water consumption by 10 in the new farms
“We will recover the water evaporated by the plants and reintegrate it into the circuit.”

Text description provided by the architects. The 4 Nurseries project has been designed into a former printing shop. They are specific by a game of playful shapes and colors. This completes the project at several levels:
Angles and curves integrate the structural elements that have been preserved. They contribute to the fluidity of inner spaces.
The colors of the vertical forms extend to the floor and ceiling to highlight functional areas: waiting space in the lobby, bedrooms, changing rooms, kitchens and dining areas. Each living space is integrated into two colored volumes.
The alternation of colored shapes and light breaks create a rhythm that animates the circulation and the access to the nurseries
Day light changes generate moving colors and reflections and introduce a dynamic atmosphere
The bay-windows allow seeing the volume extension inside the inner living spaces and open views to the garden outside
The project generate a fun environment proper to the cognitive perceptual children' development

Tyler Smith finished 30th in the Grand Prix de Triathlon in Dunkirk
racing as an under-23 competitor for the EC Sartrouville team
competed in an open male division including 96 starters
ranked fifth in the International triathlon Union
Smith described his performance as “pretty solid against some excellent competition”
“It’s good to be part of a team for support and tactics,” said Smith
who is happy with his form ahead of two ITU European Cups
finishing second in the 50-55 age group at the Ironman 70.3 Syracuse
Her time of 5hr 23min 33sec enabled her to finish fourteenth overall among the women
“I did Syracuse as a bit of test to see where the fitness is at
so I definitely saw where the work needs to be done and where I need to focus,” Smith said
“I had a good swim with the new self-seeding rolling start swim
fastest in my age group and ninth fastest female overall
“Athletes line up according to their predicted swim finish times and start by going over the timing mat one by one
This virtually eliminates anyone swimming over the top of you and made for a much more enjoyable swim experience.”
Smith added: “My bike was the only disappointing part of the day
third in age group and seventeenth overall female
I think I had a lot of fatigue in the legs from the Bermuda National Triathlon Championships [the previous weekend]
“I wasn’t able maintain any kind of sustained effort on the bike
“My run was pretty much where I expected to be at 1:42.51 [second in her age group and the eleventh fastest female]
“It was super hot day at 92F on a rolling hills run course
so I’m happy to be able to have a solid run after the weaker bike leg.”
