Fan-filmed video footage of former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd and his solo band performing on April 21 at L'Empreinte in Savigny-le-Temple
Rudd was ousted from AC/DC when he was sentenced to eight months of home detention by a New Zealand court in 2015 after pleading guilty to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession
Rudd appeared to take responsibility for his dismissal from AC/DC
saying: "I was just being a fucking dickhead
You make your own mistakes and you have to deal with them and that is what I have done
who has appeared on all but three of AC/DC's 18 studio albums
has just kicked off his first solo tour in support of his 2014 solo debut
It was the release of that album that led indirectly to Rudd's arrest
with the drummer allegedly so angry at a personal assistant over the way the record was promoted that he threatened to have the man and his daughter killed
Rudd's replacement in AC/DC is Chris Slade
who also did a three-year stint with the group from 1990 to 1993
Rudd stated about the AC/DC songs he is performing with his solo band on the group's current European tour: "[Those are] the ones I like
so we just brought in two or three [AC/DC tracks]
Because we're playing the Bonfest [the annual celebration of the life and music of AC/DC legend Bon Scott
who died in 1980 at the age of 33] on the 28th of April in Scotland
so we've got three of Bon's songs that we're playing
and hopefully we'll do them well for the fans in Scotland."
Asked if he would like to play with AC/DC again in the future
Phil said: "I'd like to be involved with Angus [Young
But I still have some traveling restrictions
and I'm not sure if I can go to America or not
I've got some lawyers doing some work so I can go back to America
So I have some limitations on what I can do
and I'm just making the best of my situation at the moment."
Rudd played with AC/DC from 1975 until 1983
He first appeared on the band's second album

Happy Friday, rockers! Spring is in the air, more or less, and it’s time for the return of Bandcamp Friday! What is Bandcamp Friday, you ask? Bandcamp Friday is the first Friday of every month where Bandcamp waives their normal fee so that more money goes directly to the artist
That means it’s the best day of the month for you to support independent artists
Here’s just a small sampling of some of the artists you can support today when your money goes even farther
Sundowner (not to be confused with The Lawrence Arms side project out of Chicago) is a post-hardcore/noise rock outfit out o f Toronto, Ontario. About a month ago they released their debut LP, Work Dream, on zBTFD Records, and it’s currently available on Bandcamp
bass-heavy post-hardcore tune “Service Road,” which gives off a vibe like a heavier and more abrasive version of early Fugazi
Then “It’s Our Policy” rings with a sound reminiscent of the darker side of The Pixies with its squealing guitar solos
Then “Randy” comes in with fuzzy guitars and heavy bass to create something really resonant and noisy while the echoing
snarled vocals create a beautiful cacophony that explodes into barely controlled chaos
The whole thing closes out on the slow-burner title track that gradually builds up with symbols
and melodic guitars until the beat slowly comes in and the song gradually speeds up into a driving
noisy track that once again revels in the chaotic
This is a brilliant blend of post-hardcore aesthetics and harsh noise
but always with just enough structure to keep things from unraveling completely

Salace are a doom metal band from Savigny Le Temple, France. They also put out a new album about a month ago, their sophomore effort called Dragged Into Rot, and it’s now available on Bandcamp
Opening track “Madness” starts the album out on slowly building ambient noise with some creepy vocals in the middle
but then “Icarus” opens up on a dark
sludgy bass line that gives way to a harsh
screaming vocal performance that carries through the long
“Lies” is a full-on wall of sound with powerful
snarling vocals that keep the full power of the track going through the long
Other standouts include tracks like “Brain Crack” that starts on some interesting percussion
before the harsh vocals come and dominate the sound
sludgy track with strong percussion elements
Closing track “Sadness” closes the album out on something softer
with some staticky noise and some finger-picked guitar with growing feedback
This is the kind of doom metal that never bores; it just blasts you with full intensity from beginning to end

Alex Okami is a post-punk/darkwave artist out of Phoenix, Arizona. Back in March, he put out his debut album called Strange as Angels and it’s currently available on Bandcamp
I’m not certain if Strange as Angels is named after the lyric from The Cure’s classic hit “Just Like Heaven,” but considering the dark
“In the Dark,” starts out with some simple guitar before the dance beats and electronic elements wash over the track and transport you directly to a goth club in the 1980s
Then “Telerañas” continues the dark
synth-laden sound with a mesmerizingly dark and swirling track
“Under My Skin” really pulls off the slick pop side of darkwave with sleek
“Gloom Culture” has one of the catchiest beats on the whole album
to create a dark pop song that is both eerily creepy and delightfully fun
Closing track “Twilight” strips things down and eliminates the percussion to close on a darkly foreboding and haunting track that’s a little more mellow than the rest of the album
This is absolutely darkwave the way it was meant to be
and will delight the genre’s most ardent fans

French 4-piece The Psychotic Monks have recently shared their latest single, All That Fall
the newest offering from their upcoming third album, Pink Colour Surgery
set for release on February 3rd via FatCat Records.
Created by a ‘cut-up’ style technique, All That Fall
forces together different materials and lyrics in a completely unique
We wanted to invite the listeners to consciously or unconsciously produce their own interpretation
leaving a minimalistic moment in the middle of the song where they are left to themselves
bringing a sense of live performance.’ They continue
‘Sometimes we can feel our own lives like a total theatrical performance in which we’d perform our own roles
where we can be both spectating and performing
And this can generate a whole complexity of
and accessible to those who allow themselves to immerse themselves in it in depth
the album arrives as an act of resistance towards ambient violence
whose deflagration is still felt long after.

Metal Sickness conducted an interview with former GUNS N' ROSES and ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA guitarist Gilby Clarke prior to his February 11 solo concert at L'Empreinte
When asked about the status of ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA
the reality television-formed supergroup he launched with Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE),Jason Newsted (VOIVOD
ex-METALLICA) and Canadian vocalist Lukas Rossi
"When we did the TV show ['Rock Star: Supernova']
we were really excited about getting the band together
The TV show was just a way for us to look around and find a singer
let's find a singer.' All the good singers are in bands and they're busy
So we thought that we would try and look throughout the world to find [a singer] and the TV show came along
I thought Lukas did a great job on the record
went down to Australia and everything — but it was really clear that it wasn't good enough
It happened so fast that I don't think that we really had time to develop a band sound — like
It's really hard when you have three guys that are successful to get together and just start a new band like it's in the garage — it's impossible
it was something that wasn't going to last
and I wanted to see the same from everybody else."
ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA lost Newsted in October 2006 after an accident that resulted in a torn anterior labrum in his left shoulder and a rotator cuff and bicep tear in the right (bassist Johnny Colt of BLACK CROWES/TRAIN filled in during the aforementioned trek)
Newsted suffered the injuries while trying to catch a 90-pound bass head that had fallen from atop his amp
The combination of surgery and a lengthy rehab assignment left him sidelined for up to nine months
ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA's seflt-titled album failed to break into the Top 100 of the Billboard album chart after its November 2006 release
The CD was certified gold in January 2007 for Canadian sales in excess of 50,000 copies
The video for the ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA song "Headspin" — about Rossi's rocky relationship with his mother — can be seen below
The track is an original RISE ELECTRIC (Lukas' pre-SUPERNOVA band) song that Rossi wrote with guitarist Dominic Cifarelli and performed on the "Rock Star: Supernova" TV show when the contestants were asked to sing one of their originals

Bubblegum Club sits down with Oudy Keita to talk about the development and growth of the brand
Lee Nxumalo: How did you first develop a love for fashion
I have [always] been interested in arts and crafts activities
Lee Nxumalo: What was your pathway into fashion
Lee Nxumalo: How did you go about developing the aesthetic of Oudy K
Oudy Keita: The brand is attached to who I am
Each collection has a story and underlines a step in my life
the first collection called Bamako Vibes was created before I went to Bamako and at that time
I knew that I would go to Bamako to launch a branch
It was about my feelings about the city of Bamako and my imagination of the country
The second collection was called Kow Bey because when I arrived in Bamako
I connected with a lot of people – from artists to models – in Bamako
Lee Nxumalo: What is your process when creating a new line
I think it is important to say that I didn’t take fashion courses or go to fashion school so my creative process is not common
I decide to create only when I am inspired
I make drawings with a lot of explanations because I’m not a technical fashion drawer and I tend to explain what I think
I have a lot of discussions with my atelier and then I’ll look for fabrics
I want to create clothes that people can wear in their daily lives so when I decide to create
Lee Nxumalo: Are there any challenges you face as a sustainable brand in Africa
Oudy Keita: The lack of diversity in [terms of] fabric
We have no access to certain kinds of fabric so in order to find it
we have to do a lot of research and collaborate with artisans to create a certain kind of jeans
Lee Nxumalo: What do you think the world can learn from Africa about sustainability in Africa
Oudy Keita: I think people can learn about simplicity
This story is produced in the context of an editorial residency supported by Pro Helvetia Johannesburg

Thousands of French police patrolled central Paris yesterday to enforce a ban on large gatherings and prevent urban unrest reaching the heart of the capital
including targets such as the Eiffel Tower
Police said they had monitored calls for violence on Internet sites and that potential targets included the Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower
In a sign of concern after violence rose slightly on the 16th night of clashes
regional authorities for the first time declared a curfew for minors in France's second city of Lyon for yesterday and tonight
Security forces used tear gas in Lyon yesterday afternoon to disperse around 50 youths in the city centre who attacked stalls and damaged vehicles
Rioting by youngsters angered by unemployment
racism and lack of opportunities has generally dropped in intensity since President Jacques Chirac's government announced emergency measures on Tuesday which included curfews
But the number of cars set ablaze by rioters rose slightly again on Friday night
and two fire bombs were thrown at a mosque in southern France
Some 502 vehicles were set ablaze across France
The Paris ban on large gatherings went into force at 10 a.m
Police detained 206 people during the night when youngsters attacked a primary school in Savigny-Le-Temple
and a person on a scooter threw two fire bombs at a mosque in the southern town of Carpentras before fleeing
There was no major damage and no one was hurt but Chirac
Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin and the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFSM) swiftly condemned the attack
The top government regional official for the Lyon region announced a curfew for minors yesterday and today from 10 p.m
The unrest was triggered by the accidental deaths of two youths who were electrocuted on October 27 as they hid in a power substation just north of Paris while apparently fleeing police
It later spread to other cities and towns across France
