contributors Anne (Burns) Sena (Business Administration ’97) was initially drawn to Chico State because of the College of Business’s stellar reputation What she found was an experience that provided her with mentorship and opportunities that shaped her path forward From her early days as a student to her current role as Director of Technology at St Sena continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to innovation where she played a pivotal role in global IT operations She thrived in the fast-paced environment but ultimately found herself yearning for more direct human interaction and community impact—a desire that led her to transition into the nonprofit sector in 2015 she has leveraged her expertise to create tangible change revolutionizing the school’s IT infrastructure and bringing enterprise-level security and cutting-edge technology to enhance learning environments Her leadership during the rapid pivot to distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic ensured that students and educators had seamless access to essential digital resources Sena has remained deeply engaged with Chico State She maintained close ties with the management information systems faculty and played a key role in the collaboration between the College of Business and the Computer Science Department to establish the Business Information Systems (BIS) degree she established a scholarship to support students in the BIS program What started as a modest $500 annual donation has since grown into an endowed fund impacting countless students over the years Sena has also served on the College of Business Advisory Board since 2014 offering guidance to support the next generation of business leaders “I truly believe that we have a responsibility to use our resources “It’s about recognizing the blessings you’ve received and paying them forward in a meaningful way.” Sena’s passion for mentorship and education is a testament to her belief in the power of human connection Whether it’s leading technological advancements What does it mean to you to be recognized as the College of Business Distinguished Alumna?I am deeply honored by the recognition I have been in service to Chico State and the College of Business intentionally for all these years not because I wanted to be recognized but because I wanted to give back to a place that I love It’s wonderful to know that my contributions have been felt and I am both humbled and affirmed by this honor How has your experience as a Wildcat influenced your personal and professional life? The honors program was especially impactful—I was part of a small cohort that tackled thought-provoking courses like biomedical ethics which challenged me to think critically and approach problems with both intellect and empathy Those experiences instilled in me a lifelong love of learning and a deeper understanding of the complexities of the world I actively engaged with faculty and classmates One of the highlights was being part of the first group of students to establish the SAP instance—something that still exists nearly 30 years later That hands-on experience gave me a competitive edge early in my career and reinforced the importance of applied learning Chico State has a unique culture of connection and collaboration and that has stayed with me throughout my career as a member of the College of Business Advisory Board What professional and life advice would you give to students today?Give back whenever and however you can I started my scholarship with just $500 a year it grew into something sustainable that actively supports students the act of giving not only impacts others but also enriches your own life Success isn’t just about skills—it’s about the people who you develop lasting relationships with If you’re trying to pick your first Bluetooth motorcycle headset and have done some research you’ve probably noticed that two brands keep coming up: Sena and Cardo The two companies have oddly similar backstories—both started by making non-motorcycle-related products and were run by motorcycle enthusiasts who saw an opportunity to adapt their technology for riders Both brands produce universal headsets that can be fitted to almost any full-face motorcycle helmet (with adapters also available for modular helmets) and both use some form of Mesh Bluetooth technology for connectivity If you’re considering integrated helmet intercoms there’s a good chance you’ll end up with a Sena system Many helmet manufacturers’ Bluetooth systems are often rebranded Sena units with similar hardware and the same operating systems One of the biggest considerations if you plan to use your intercom to talk with other riders or a passenger is compatibility and the usual advice was to buy the same brand as your friends—but not anymore As of 2023, connecting across brands is now almost as easy as connecting same-brand units. I’ve personally connected my Cardo Packtalk Pro and Sena 50S units without any problems Both Cardo and Sena offer premium speaker options: JBL for Cardo and Harman Kardon for Sena. Both are loud enough to hear through earplugs but neither stands out as superior in my experience The earplugs and helmet you choose will make a bigger difference than the intercom brand, so select them carefully. Sport-touring helmets or helmets designed for sporty riding tend to be more aerodynamic and quieter If you want to use an adventure-style helmet with a peak, consider a more road-oriented model like the Arai XD 5 rather than something like the Bell MX-9 ADV reusable options filter out damaging frequencies while letting other sounds through making it easier to hear music or phone calls Loop Experience 2 earplugs work better with intercoms than most other options: including integrated Sena systems and various Cardo universal options and there isn’t much difference between them Despite the claims about sound quality from both companies with 115dB of wind noise and earplugs between your speakers and eardrums you won’t be amazed by the bass or clarity Both brands require you to learn the button controls by touch unless you use voice commands I found the button layout on Cardo units easier to navigate than Sena’s but opinions vary—it’s a matter of personal preference Both brands offer voice command capabilities and are compatible with Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri I generally leave an infinite playlist running that I can pause and resume depending on the riding conditions and my mood Phone calls can be answered using the buttons I used Sena’s handlebar-mounted remote control with a Sena 10U integrated unit and found that having control buttons both within easy reach and where I could see them Attaching a plastic device to the outside of your helmet will never look sleek Cardo units are less bulky and noticeable compared to the large Sena devices This seems odd since Sena dominates the market for integrated units meaning they should know how to fit all the necessary components into a smaller space The Sena mounting bracket for my 50S is a heavy piece of metal that hangs far below the chin bar of the helmet While it hasn’t hit my shoulder or snagged on my clothing The claimed battery life of Sena and Cardo units varies depending on the model and how they’re used I’ve never had a battery run out during normal rides—assuming I remembered to charge the unit beforehand If you use the Mesh function frequently and ride long distances this is usually manageable during overnight stops Advanced models with auto-standby features mean you’ll still have plenty of battery life for the return trip even if you forgot to turn it off manually At the top of their respective ranges, Sena and Cardo begin to differentiate themselves. Cardo’s Packtalk Pro This feature uses internal sensors and those on your smartphone to detect a crash It provides a short window for you to confirm you’re okay before notifying a preselected emergency contact this unit has no range limit and can connect to an unlimited number of users The extended range is achieved by seamlessly switching between Bluetooth Mesh and cellular networks this ensures riders remain connected to their group Cardo has responded with “Mesh Boost,” set to launch in early 2025 This update expands private group sizes to 31 riders and includes features like cellular connectivity The choice ultimately comes down to personal preference If you prefer an integrated system that fits neatly inside your helmet if automatic crash detection appeals to you the Cardo Packtalk Pro is your only option as no other intercom currently offers this feature You no longer need to match the brand your friends use Both brands offer adequate speaker volume and upgrades for their budget models I find Cardo’s controls easier to remember and operate with gloves. Since crash detection isn’t a priority for me, I’d opt for their Freecom 4X ($260.96) and upgrade the speakers to the 45mm JBL ones ($89.96) That would bring the total cost just over $250 If you’re set on Sena, you can currently get their 50S model with Harman Kardon sound for $287.20 (pricing accurate at the time of writing) For a completely different option, I’ve recently started using Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 earbuds ($179.99) under my helmet instead of a traditional intercom If you mainly use the intercom for listening you don’t need to worry about the microphone or Mesh connectivity and the noise-canceling technology lets you adjust how much ambient noise you hear for safety Several brands also offer custom-fit earplugs with Bluetooth or wired connectivity you can combine the best of both worlds by plugging wired earphones into your intercom instead of using its speakers our expert team has decades of experience and has logged hundreds of thousands of miles to provide trustworthy opinions and evaluations We test products in real-world conditions rather than destroying them in controlled environments This ensures our buying advice is reliable and applicable to everyday riders intercom systems must be worn for thousands of miles Our reviewers assess intercoms on several factors and how easily the units connect to others We compare devices directly with one another we’ll provide reviews for any intercoms that we believe are relevant in the market The ratings tab for each product may also include specific scores for individual performance categories to help you make an informed decision Ben Clarke began riding (legally) at 21-years-old when he passed his direct access one month before shipping his Yamaha XT660 R to Miami and embarking on a 13,500-mile tour of the USA and Central America He's worked at MCN for the last six years riding everything from super nakeds and superbikes to small-capacity electrics and scooters across several continents he's worked closely with the bike kit team to bring you all the latest news and reviews about the bike-related products we all use every day - Just so you know, we may receive a commission or other compensation from the links on this website - read why you should trust us By Ben Clarke Lover of V-twins and big singles, partial to a tour This was supposed to be a review of the Sena Impulse modular helmet But it’s going to be a different review than it started off being I followed Sena’s instructions for pairing it with my phone for the first time There’s a screen that pops up when you first open the app that guides you through the Bluetooth pairing process and includes a button (in the app not on the helmet) to tap to see a Quick Guide the Sena lady’s voice said “Hello” brightly just as I’d learned to expect from using my old 20S for so many years I literally have years of experience hearing Sena’s voice prompts in my headset so I was pleasantly reassured when I found that had remained on this new helmet And then, somewhere in the months I’ve been riding with the Impulse, something went wrong. I’ve since paired this helmet with both Sena and Midland headsets, both via Bluetooth (not MESH) It was fiddly to get the non-Sena headset to pair the Impulse forgot its pairing with my phone the voice prompts seem to have shut themselves off but something I figured could be rectified if I could get them re-paired Then I could check the settings and see about turning the voice prompts back on or maybe even do a Factory Reset as a last resort if I couldn’t get it to work Sena Phone App Voice Prompt Info and Quick Guide Pairing Instructions - Screenshots Captured October 7 Sena Impulse Helmet User Manual - Phone Pairing Method #1 - Screenshot Captured October 7 the app’s Quick Start guide had me doing a completely different pairing process with my phone that was only made harder by the completely unhelpful lack of voice prompts the Impulse was now exhibiting No matter how well I followed those instructions I couldn’t get my phone to even see the Impulse when I turned on Bluetooth and searched for Available Devices My partner located a lengthier Sena PDF (on the Sena website) for the Impulse helmet It had a completely different two-button procedure (the Quick Guide only wanted you to use one button of the four available on the helmet) to get the helmet into pairing mode After much swearing and multiple threats to throw the entire thing out the window we successfully got the Impulse re-paired with my phone the settings showed that the voice prompts were indeed set to be On My phone works just fine with it once again then turning them on (and the helmet on) again to try to get them back accomplishes nothing Sena Impulse Helmet User Manual - Some Voice Prompts always stay on That’s a problem when several features of this helmet rely on you using a combination of button presses of just four buttons to get into specific menus if you want to do specific things it’s up to your best guess as to whether you’re in the correct menu or not You might have the patience to fight through it and maybe start over again if you miscount Or you could slowly lose your mind and want to throw this $600 helmet out the window if you’re going to make every device dependent on its ability to interact with an app then companies had better make absolutely sure that the information relayed to users via your app is both correct and up to date That’s clearly not the case with the Quick Guide in the Sena Motorcycles App right now It’s telling me to do something completely different than the longer fuller PDF manual for my helmet on the Sena website tells you to do if you want to pair the phone there are THREE separate Phone Pairing options in the User Manual And the first one is not the same as the single option presented in the Quick Start guide via the App Sena Impulse Helmet User Manual - Phone Pairing Method #1 Sena Impulse Helmet User Manual - Phone Pairing Method #2 Sena Impulse Helmet User Manual - Phone Pairing Method #3 - Screenshot Captured October 7 nowhere in that first screen in the Sena app does it suggest that any alternate methods even exist it’ll let you go slowly insane when you keep trying the same button press over and over and getting nowhere I should probably go look for different instructions because it’s Sena who’s telling you to do the wrong thing via its app Not just some rando who may or may not have the right answer but the manufacturer who made the helmet that you're currently trying to pair with your phone you don’t want to destroy customer trust as soon as you’ve gotten your product into a customer’s hands Can-Am’s Baja 1000 Dreams Are Like a Controlled Explosion This Retro-Styled Electric Motorcycle Looks Like a Fun and Practical Daily Ride E-Bike Battery Ranges Might Not Be What You Expect Suzuki Really Wants You To Test Ride the New DR-Z4S Wallet: How Losing All 3 Helped Me Find The Soul Of Motorsport The event is a brainchild of three-time Olympic champion Shaun White Totsuka dominated the finals, receiving three scores above 94 points across the semis and the finals to secure the victory. The 2021 halfpipe world champion was untouchable in the all-Japanese men’s final beating Hirano Ruka with two high-scoring runs Totsuka first drew a 95 from the judges before throwing down a near-flawless second run with a score of 96.50 points Hirano produced a commendable 91.00 on his first run but could not get close to his compatriot on the second Tomita got one hand on the title on her first run in the final earning a score of 91.25 to the 85.50 of Mastro The duel was ultimately decided on the third and final run after Tomita crashed on the second The head-to-head contest came to a climactic conclusion with the Japanese star winning the third run by half a point – 78.50 to 78.00 In the consolation contest for third place, Choi Gaon of the Republic of Korea came out on top beating Ono Mitsuki Choi had the win sealed after the second run with scores of 93.75 and 81.00 with Ono unable to lay down a clean routine The Snow League next heads to Secret Garden in the People's Republic of China where 16 freeski halfpipe athletes will go up against each other in December 2025 If you’re trying to choose your first Bluetooth motorcycle intercom and you’ve done a little bit of research you’ve probably noticed that two brands come up again and again: Sena and Cardo The two firms have oddly similar back stories – both started making non-motorcycle related products and were run by men who rode motorbikes who then saw an opportunity to adapt their tech for bikers Both make universal intercoms that can be fitted to almost any full face motorbike helmet (with adaptors that also work for flip-fronts) and both use Mesh Bluetooth technology in one form or another for their connectivity If you’re looking at integrated helmet intercoms the chances are you’ll end up with a Sena system Even helmet firm’s own Bluetooth systems are often rebranded Sena units that use similar hardware and the same operating systems and software A notable exception is the new Ruroc system that is built by Cardo One of the big considerations if you plan to use your intercom to talk with other riders or a pillion is compatibility This has been an issue in the past and previous advice would be to buy the same brand your mates have already – but not any more As of 2023, connecting the across brands is now almost as simple as connecting like-for-like. I have personally connected my Cardo Packtalk Pro and Sena 50S units with no problems Both Cardo and Sena have premium versions of their speakers; JBL in the case of Cardo and Harman Kardon for Sena and they’re both loud enough to be heard through earplugs but neither is better than the other in my experience The earplugs and helmet you wear will make far more of a difference than the brand of intercom you choose so think about choosing these carefully. Sports-touring helmets or helmets designed for sporty riding tend to be more aerodynamic and therefore quieter If you want to use a peaked, adventure lid then consider a more road-biased model like an Arai Tour-X 5 rather than something like a Bell MX-9 ADV (an excellent but drafty helmet) More basic earplugs (the foam ones you potentially pinch from work) do a great job of protecting your hearing but there are re-useable options out there that just filter out the damaging frequencies while letting other sound through which make it far easier to hear music or phone calls I’ve found that these Loop Experience 2 earplugs work better than others with an intercom: I’ve previously used both Sena and Cardo intercoms including integrated Sena systems and various Cardo universal options and there’s genuinely not much to choose between them Whatever boasts both firms make about sound quality with 115dB of wind noise and earplugs between the speaker and your eardrum you won’t be blown away by the bass or clarity It’s more a battle of being heard at all and both brands do cut through – especially with the upgraded speakers on offer Both brands require that you learn what the buttons do by touch if you don’t want to use voice commands and I found the Cardo button lay out easier to fathom than the Sena I can find riders who feel the opposite so it’s very much just personal preference Both have voice command capability and are compatible with Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri but I find them both a little hit and miss which is both frustrating and distracting I generally leave an infinite playlist going that I can pause and resume as I please depending on the riding I’m doing and how bored I am I used Sena’s handlebar mounted remote control with a Sena 10U integrated unit I tested and found that having the control buttons both within easy reach and where I could see them if needed was a real improvement in the experience Glueing or clamping a lump of plastic onto the outside of your helmet will never look the best but for my money the Cardo units look less cumbersome and obvious than the enormous Sena ones I find this strange considering Sena have pretty much cornered the market for integrated units and so must be able to cram all they need into a smaller space It only gets worse when you pop the antenna to improve Bluetooth connectivity (I’m utterly astonished this is still a thing in 2024 but it’s still a feature of the new 60S The Sena mounting bracket on my 50S is an enormous and heavy piece of metalwork that hangs far below the chin bar of your helmet It’s never hit my shoulder or got caught in my clothing or anything but it’s definitely worth mentioning But the least impactful option visually is an integrated headset which will fit inside your helmet with little or no external giveaways these options will usually be powered by Sena tech and operating systems The claimed battery life of Sena and Cardo units varies by use case and model and it becomes quite complicated to try to compare like-for-like on paper But I’ve never run out of battery using either brand in normal riding conditions (when I’ve remembered to charge them) If you use the Mesh function a lot as you ride and stay in the saddle for long stints then you’ll need to recharge daily but that’s usually something that’s possible when you get to your next overnight stop Using either brand on my hour-long commute to listen to music requires far less frequent top-ups and the more advanced models with auto standby also mean you’ll have plenty of juice for the return leg even if you’ve forgotten to switch it off manually Right at the top end of each manufacturer’s range is where the differences really start to appear. Cardo’s Packtalk Pro was released in 2024 featuring automatic crash detection software Using a combination of internal sensors and the ones in your smartphone the unit uses an algorithm to detect a crash and gives you a set amount of time to tell it you’re OK otherwise it alerts a pre-determined contact It’s a nifty feature and I half expected Sena to follow suit with their next model but the 60S they unveiled later in the same year pushes tech in a different direction We’re yet to put it to the test at the time of writing (first impressions review coming soon) but Sena claim the unit has no range limit and can be connected to any number of users The boosted range is thanks to the unit switching seamlessly (Sena’s word) between Bluetooth Mesh and cellular network for connectivity That means in theory that if a rider gets lost or pulls up with a problem then they will never drop out of range of the others in the group the system won’t be compatible with Open Mesh otherwise you’d be hearing every rider on the planet with that feature switched on… Cardo have responded with what they are calling ‘Mesh Boost’ which is expected to arrive in early 2025 and expands the private group size to 31 riders along with other features including cellular connectivity It sounds like a cop-out but it really does come down to personal preference If you want to use an integrated system that fits more seamlessly into your helmet then you will most likely end up with a version of a Sena because that’s very much their market Conversely, if automatic crash detection sounds like something you would like to have then you’ll need to go for the Cardo Packtalk Pro because that’s the only intercom that currently has it You no longer need to be swayed by the brand your mates use because the two systems now speak to each other no problem Speaker volume isn’t an issue for either brand and both offer speaker upgrades for their cheaper models anyway As I said above, I find the Cardo controls slightly easier to remember and the buttons are easier to locate and push with a gloved hand. And since I’m not desperate for crash detection, I’d buy a cheaper model from their range like the Freecom 4X (£174.99) and then upgrade the speakers to the 45mm JBL ones (currently £73.11) If you think Sena is the brand for you, though, you can currently get their 50S model which already has Harmon Kardon sound for £234.97 (Sportsbike Shop Just to throw a slight curveball into the mix, I’ve recently started wearing Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 earbuds under my helmet instead of using an intercom at all If you only use the intercom for listening then there’s no need to worry about the microphone or Mesh connectivity the sound quality is infinitely better and you can use the noise cancelling tech to finetune how much of the world around you gets through for safety There are several earplug brands that offer Bluetooth or wired connectivity with their custom fit models Or you can combine the advantages of both by plugging wired earphones into your intercom instead of using the speakers our team of expert journalists have decades of experience gained over hundreds of thousands of miles in order to provide you with opinions and evaluations you can trust alongside news of the most significant developments in motorcycling safety gear enjoy your riding and hopefully look great while doing so We don’t test our kit to destruction; we use it exactly how you do That means we can deliver impartial buying advice you can rely on intercom systems must have been worn for thousands of miles by our team of experienced testers provide quality sound as well as offering decent value for money Each of our expert reviewers tests their intercoms for a variety of things Factors assessed include the sound quality ease of use with gloves on while riding and ease of set up we also assess their perceived build quality how well additional features like voice activation work and how simple connecting to others is We cover thousands of miles with these intercoms and regularly compare them with one another in the office so collectively we’ve built the sort of knowledge base you can trust If you can’t see a review against an intercom on this page These intercoms will only be included if we think they’re important and relevant in the market we will be working on bringing you a review as soon as we’ve done the miles you may also find more specific scores for the different aspects of a product’s performance to help you make an informed decision Here’s a guide to what each number score means: You probably know Sena for their motorcycle intercom technology rather than helmets. The Sena Stryker was one of their first forays into this new area. They made quite a splash with it and have followed up brilliantly with the new Phantom However, because the Stryker was certified to the previous ECE 22.05 safety standard, stocks are running low and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Most sizes are still currently available on the Sena site, but major retailers are stocking newer ECE 22.06 helmets A post shared by MCN (@motorcyclenews) I’ve been riding with the Sena Stryker helmet for a few months now and really enjoying it. The built-in communication and technology features open up interesting dimensions for both commuting and touring The icing on the cake is the quality sound from the Harman/Kardon speakers and microphone I’ve been testing the matt black version but it does also come in glossy white The gun metal grey lines are subtle but smooth and give off an aerodynamic feel along with the curving top vents and wrap-around visor Sena chose to treat the main visor with an anti-fog coating rather than the traditional Pinlock and it worked just fine for me in colder temperatures The visor is UV and scratch resistant and gives a clear line of sight throughout with no distortion or patches of blurring The integrated sun visor sits low enough so that blinding winter sun can’t creep in underneath The tint is dark enough to combat the glare but not so dark that I can’t see in shaded areas It operates smoothly and easily with no sticking or resistance except for the click that lets you know it’s fully retracted When I first tried on the Stryker I thought it felt a bit tight compared to my previous helmet The inner padding of the Stryker is more snug than tight and it feels securely in place on my head with no pressure points or sharp bits to irritate me as I ride The material that lines the interior is soft on the skin and doesn’t rub uncomfortably The Stryker is quite light at just over 3lbs so it doesn’t feel heavy when riding and there’s no strain on my neck It also doesn’t want to pull my head down or push it back at motorway speeds And it’s not a noisy helmet. The wind doesn’t roar through like some helmets I’ve tried, and other outside noises like the engine and the din of traffic are not intrusive. Saying that, I always ride with ear plugs so I don’t know what it’s like without them Even with earplugs some other helmets are quite noisy How can I not listen to my playlists with such great sound in my helmet Harman/Kardon are famous for their speakers and microphones and these helmet versions don’t disappoint It’s like listening through a really good set of headphones with earplugs in which normally wouldn’t make sense but of course it’s unavoidable on a motorbike To benefit from these premium speakers I bought earplugs that allow the lovely sounds to come through but keep noise out and the higher tones and vocals are clear as a bell There is also a noise control setting for the microphone which reduces background noise during a conversation or recording The group communication features are equally impressive Bluetooth 5.0 will connect with up to 4 other riders within 2km (1.2 miles) Group mesh intercom connects up to 24 riders in the same range in open terrain but extends to 8km (5 miles) if only 6 riders are connected There are 9 open mesh channels so you can always find one that isn’t busy Ventilation in the Stryker is well planned to keep air circulating and to prevent overheating and fogging up On longer rides this has helped me stay cool There are three vents on top of the helmet to cool the top and sides of my head; one on the chin to cool my face; and a rear exhaust port for drawing hot The airflow is easily controlled by experimenting with the different vents and they are all easy to operate with gloves on Value is where I digress from my generally positive view on the Stryker For £539 you’re getting a decent – but not top end – helmet with a multi-functional intercom system and the great Harman/Kardon sound system But the reason I feel it’s overvalued at that price is the helmet itself is only certified to ECE 22.05 and it doesn’t feel like the same quality as a top of the range Arai Those market leaders are also certified to the latest ECE 22.06 standard Also, intercom technology has advanced in the couple of years since the Stryker was launched. For these reasons I feel that, even though it’s still a great helmet, it is overpriced at £539 and should fall more into the mid-range category. As I mentioned, Sena is soon to launch the new Phantom helmet and we should then see a price drop on the Stryker I’ve enjoyed my time with the Sena Stryker helmet Many times I would jump on my bike simply to indulge in my two favourite activities – riding and listening to music It was never a hassle to slip on the Stryker and always a pleasure When I did embark on longer distance travels the navigation and communication were clear as a bell and easy to operate are a world-class intercom and communications company at its core and it makes sense that one of their first helmets had to be packed with tech done a good job of that and I’m looking forward to see what follows from Sena our team of expert journalists have decades of experience gained over hundreds of thousands of miles Each of our writers has an in-depth understanding of the needs of today’s biker… because they are one We’ve worn and tested motorcycle helmets for hundreds or thousands of miles on our own bikes and on MCN test bikes and we ride in all weathers and conditions So we’ll never recommend a helmet we wouldn’t put our own head in To find out more, head to our dedicated page explaining how we test motorcycle products Robin is originally from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean where he rode a Yamaha XT250 both on- and off-road Off-road there meant everything from cane fields to virgin tropical rain forests He left a career in media and advertising in Trinidad and moved to London to study music giving up two wheels for buses and tubes. Eknath Shinde who believes he has been short-changed by the BJP in the power-sharing arrangement in the Mahayuti alliance says he would be happy if the Sena reunited with the Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray Shirsat said he was hurt by the split in the Sena and that a merger of the two Senas is still possible We had no option but to leave the party as the then party leader Uddhav Thackeray had forged an alliance with the Congress and NCP we still share good relations as we are old colleagues A merger of the two Senas is possible if both of us accept our mistakes and come forward,” said Shirsat Once a trusted leader of the Thackeray family in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Shirsat ditched his political mentors and went with Eknath Shinde he became one of Shinde’s close aides and was made a cabinet minister with an important portfolio Shirsat said only senior party leaders could pave the way for a reconciliation “A merger is possible only now as both sides have senior leaders who worked together for decades and have good personal relations despite the split in the party Senior leaders can make a merger happen as they worked during the period of struggle and therefore bonded well But it would not be possible for new leaders like Aaditya Thackeray to lead a merger as there is a generation gap and he gets everything readymade without a struggle So a merger is possible now; later may be too late.” Sena (UBT) leader and leader of the opposition in the legislative council slammed Shirsat and the other MLAs who defected and split the Sena “The split was painful for everyone in the party Why didn’t they think of that when they broke the party?” he said “Now that the BJP has started cornering deputy chief minister Shinde Sena leaders like Shirsat are probably feeling nostalgic and therefore talking of a merger I am not the authority to comment on this issue but ‘anything can happen in politics’,” said Danve said that at least those who had hurt loyalists of the Shiv Sena by splitting the party are now feeling their own share of pain Angelo was preceded in death by his wife MaryAnn Sena his brother Joseph Sena and his sister Mary Bordenga Angelo was previously married to Eleanor Wilcox David (Wendy) Sena and Ronald (Missy) Sena He is also survived by seven grandchildren and Ashley Sena and nine great grandchildren Angelo graduated from Jamestown High School After graduation he owned Sena’s Keystone service station and as an independent contractor in the building trades profession and the positive impact he had on his colleagues and the community Angelo had a passion as a sportsman and particularly loved hunting and fishing and traveled on many big game hunts to Canada and the western states enjoyed gardening and his many fruit trees and was a wonderful Italian cook He also enjoyed going for ice cream with his granddaughter Angela playing his harmonica and listening to bluegrass music Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetary in that he is unlikely to bury the hatchet with the BJP anytime soon Thackeray came down heavily on union home minister Amit Shah squarely blaming him for pulling down the MVA government Thackeray was speaking at a function held in Andheri on Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray’s birth anniversary Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said that he was ready to go solo in the coming local polls but would take a decision at the appropriate time (PTI) In a rival celebration of the same occasion at BKC deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde slammed Thackeray saying one could not win solo elections by “sitting at home” who is still unable to hide his disappointment at losing the chief minister’s post insisted that he did not have a hankering for any chair After the Sena (UBT)’s defeat in the recent assembly elections and a likely fresh defection of party leaders Thackeray called upon his partymen to “prepare for revenge by defeating the traitors and their political masters” we took things for granted and got careless,” he said “Let’s come out of that mindset and prepare for local body elections I will announce the decision to go solo at the right time.” However amid reports of Sena (UBT) MLAs and MPs being likely to join the Shinde Sena Bhausaheb Wackhaure and MLAs Dilip Sopal and Rahul Patil at the rally raised eyebrows There has been talk in political circles that the Thackeray faction is inching towards the BJP again with both Uddhav and his son Aaditya meeting CM Devendra Fadnavis in the past few weeks Amit Shah mocked Thackeray and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar declaring that their brand of politics had been buried by the people Thackeray spent a significant part of his speech targeting Shah although he was silent on Fadnavis Shah will see what an injured tiger can do,” he said Thackeray also declared that the BJP’s win was manipulated “Amit Shah feared that once the BJP lost Maharashtra so he used the government machinery and the Election Commission to win the elections,” he charged “No one believes these results—even BJP leaders are in shock I challenge Amit Shah to hold the coming local elections by ballot paper and win them.” Thackeray repeatedly vowed to stand by Hindutva and insisted that his brand of Hindutva was different from that of the BJP Hindutva is nationalism and is progressive,” he said “Amit Shah should give his definition of Hindutva these cowards ran away and the Shiv Sena stood up for Hindus Now they are presuming to teach us Hindutva.” Shinde too expectedly lambasted Thackeray at the BKC rally “He is now talking about fighting elections solo but that requires a lot of personal strength,” he said Alleging that Thackeray sat at home during the Covid-19 epidemic and only addressed people via Facebook Live Shinde said: “You can’t have an attitude of ‘Tum lado hum kapde sambhalte hain’ (You fight and I will guard your clothes).” Pointing out that his assembly win tally was far higher than that of Thackeray Shinde expressed confidence that his party would defeat the Sena (UBT) in the local body elections too who has been sulking after losing his post claimed that he was content with his On Saturday, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena (UBT) lost another leader, Subhash Bane, a second former MLA in almost as many days. Bhaskar Jadhav is the lone Sena (UBT) MLA from the coastal Konkan region, a stronghold of the undivided Sena. A six-time MLA from Ratnagiri district and the Sena (UBT) group leader in the assembly, Jadhav did not mince words when he told the media on Saturday that the party must discuss the large-scale desertion of its leaders. “Attempts are being made to corner our party on all sides. One by one, leaders are being poached. As such, there should be a discussion on how to proceed. Balasaheb used to say that Sainiks are like embers who still have a fire within them. We have to galvanise them,” Jadhav said, a reference to the fact that no effort is being made to stop the exodus. On the growing sense of complacency at the top, a senior Sena (UBT) leader from Mumbai said, “Rajan Salvi’s is the latest case. He was wary of the Anti-Corruption Bureau probe against him but had stayed with the party. He took the step (to defect) after Thackeray rebuffed him recently. Instead of placating him, the leadership took him to task for criticising Vinayak Raut, who is in charge of Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg districts.” He said the disenchantment within the Sena (UBT) is growing, with local-level leaders seeing it as a now-or-never moment. “They are worried about their political future and yet the top leadership doesn’t seem to be taking steps to revive the organisation.” The defections haven’t gone unnoticed by Thackeray. Taking a note of the desertions in the Konkan, the Sena (UBT) chief discussed the issue with senior party leaders at his residence, Matoshree, on Saturday evening, when they also discussed organisational matters, said a senior party leader. “Our leaders will soon travel to the Konkan and meet local leaders to reassure them,” he said. Thackeray has also convened a meeting of party members from Rajan Salvi’s constituency, Rajapur, on Sunday. “We will be meeting Mumbaikars hailing from Rajapur on Sunday at Sena Bhavan, and our senior leaders are visiting the Konkan next week,” said senior Sena (UBT) leader Vinayak Raut. The party leadership will have to do a lot more to shore up morale. Insiders say another former MLA from the Sena (UBT), Ganpat Kadam, is likely to join Shinde’s Sena soon. And there could be more trouble around the corner. Sena leader and Ratnagiri district guardian minister Uday Samant has extended an invitation to Bhaskar Jadhav, the Sena (UBT)’s only legislator from the Konkan, to join his party. “I will be happy if he joins us. We need his guidance,” Samant told the media. Unaware of the situation, Sawant and his two friends were shocked to land in Pune instead of Bangkok, as the crew followed instructions from aviation authorities and the police. The pilots of a flight carrying ex-Maharashtra minister Tanaji Sawant's son to Bangkok initially thought the order to return to Pune was a “hoax.” However, after checking with aviation authorities, they followed the instructions, PTI quoted an airline executive as saying. The pilots of a flight carrying ex-Maharashtra minister Tanaji Sawant's son to Bangkok initially thought the order to return to Pune was a ‘hoax.’ However, after verifying with aviation authorities, they followed the instructions, PTI quoted an airline executive as saying. The chartered flight, carrying Rushiraj Sawant and his two friends, returned to Pune between 8 pm and 8.30 pm on Monday, cutting short their trip to Bangkok. The journey had not been disclosed to Rushiraj’s father, Tanaji Sawant, who is a leader of the ruling Shiv Sena. The decision to divert the flight to Pune was made only after thorough verification, according to the airline executive. Rushiraj Sawant and his two friends, who were traveling to Bangkok, described it as a “business trip.” They were quickly returned to Pune after the police registered a kidnapping case based on an anonymous call and the intervention of his father, Tanaji Sawant. “When we received the first call (from family members) asking us to turn around the flight, we did not believe it. We cannot believe these kinds of calls as they could be hoaxes,” the executive from the airline operator said. “But after due verification from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and knowing it pertained to a kidnapping case being probed by police, the decision to turn around the flight was taken and it returned to Pune,” he added. The executive stated that this was likely the first instance of a flight being recalled mid-way due to the registration of a criminal case against a passenger. “Such things happen only in case of some sort of emergency, such as medical or technical emergency,” the official added. The flight was diverted while flying over Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. To prevent any disturbance or arguments, the three passengers on board were not informed about the change in destination, said the executive. “The screen in front of the passengers showing maps and navigation was already switched off, and they had no inkling their plane was returning to Pune without their knowledge. They were relaxing after having food,” he said. “After touching down at the Pune International Airport, the passenger (Rushiraj) and the two others were surprised and angrily questioned the pilots. The pilot-in-command told them they were just following instructions,” he said. After the flight landed in Pune, CISF personnel escorted the passengers off the plane. The flight operator complied with requests from the DGCA, providing all necessary information and explaining the standard operating procedures followed. The incident began when Pune police received an anonymous call at 4 pm on Monday, alleging that Rushiraj Sawant had been abducted. Following this, a kidnapping case was quickly registered, prompting his father, Tanaji Sawant, to seek help from the police commissioner. Investigations revealed that Rushiraj, along with his two friends, had secretly booked the chartered flight to Bangkok without informing his family. He later told the police that he kept the trip hidden to avoid upsetting his family. Opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders criticised the police for acting swiftly on the anonymous call, alleging that Tanaji Sawant misused the police machinery to bring his son back. Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis said he is hoping that the current Supreme Court will overturn the 2008 decision told Newsweek that the current Supreme Court seems to be leaving each state to make their own decision "It's mostly because they have to leave decisions like that up to the states The death penalty should absolutely be on the table I can tell you that it would certainly make Charlotte's life a little smoother knowing he can never harm her or anyone else ever again "We feel these sick predators cannot be reformed We have straight out asked the governor's team if this could be a possibility here in New York." She said she realized this was likely a pipe dream Newsweek sought email comment from the office of New York governor Trisha Sena recalled the moment that the New York state police rushed to the campsite where Charlotte was abducted to tell them that she had been found alive "I remember feeling panicked at first because an NYSP [New York State Police] car came speeding up the road to our campsite and my mind automatically went into overdrive." "But then he stopped in front of our campsite and yelled for my husband Dave Then he immediately followed that with 'We found Her We have her!' "We also participated in helping to pass a bill to install cameras in state parks and are on board with bills for minor Amber Alert reforms and to increase minimum sentencing for child offenders in New York State." "Sentencing rates are staggeringly low and child rapists in some cases are serving six months or less We need to start focusing on protecting our children," she said Both Jené and Trisha Sena would like to see a federal law that mandates much longer sentences for child abusers "Anyone who commits a sex crime against a minor child under the age of 16 and is convicted [should] not get the opportunity to offend again These sick predators cannot be reformed and we must accept that and treat them accordingly," Jené Sena said Trisha and Jené now have a podcast to promote their campaign "Jené and I would talk endlessly about how this experience was not only extremely traumatizing but also very frustrating on multiple levels," Trisha Sena said Frustrating because I couldn't control the media and the stories that they chose to report and frustrating that a monster like him is allowed to exist." "I talk to my children about turning frustration and anger into power That they can decide how to use that energy "Jené and I chose to use that energy to reach out to our senators and discuss changing legislation that supports the survivors versus the criminals."
