collided with a ferry in the Pašman Channel
between Biograd na Moru and the island of Pašman
the Zadar Port Authority has alleged that the yacht was without a captain at the time of the collision
The incident occurred at around 22:15 near the islet of Sveta Katarina
a Port Authority inspection revealed substantial damage to the yacht’s hull above the waterline
leading authorities to issue a sailing ban for the yacht until repairs are completed
which was en route from Biograd to Tkon (the island of Pašman)
sustained damage to its railing and some deck equipment
Passengers waiting for the ferry were questioned by police
suggesting there might be further details or discrepancies about the collision that are not yet public
the yacht is currently docked in Biograd with noticeable tilting and damage to the bow
both vessels were reportedly visible on radar
raising further questions about navigation
monitoring systems and the competency of the senior crew on board
One eyewitness claimed that the ferry was at fault for failing to yield to the yacht
while another blamed the yacht for not yielding to the ferry
ferries do not automatically have the right of way over all other vessels according to international rules
such as the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs)
the right-of-way depends on the specific situation
While local regulations in certain areas may grant operational precedence to ferries
the responsibility for a collision between a yacht and a ferry would be assessed based on the actions of both vessels and their adherence to maritime rules. So, it is not necessarily accurate to assume that the Lady Eleganza crew were solely responsible due to a presumed right-of-way for the ferry
According to the Croatian Ministry of the Sea

The national media are beaming with pride reporting record overnight stays
and the motorways are finally paying off again
Croatian tourism is where we all hoped it would be
we’re running out of space with the most popular destinations including the famous cities
It’s time to start looking for alternatives
We tried telling you to go see Lika and Gorski Kotar
but we do understand the desire to stay close to the sea
This is why today we will share a little gem that has got it all
The little town of some 6000 residents is located only 30 km south of Zadar and about 50 km north of Šibenik
It is nestled between two bays and overlooks the most indented part of the Adriatic coast
Surrounded by national parks and nature parks
it boasts plenty of tourist and recreational facilities but keeps a calm
homely atmosphere even in the height of summer
Get to know this charming little place through our top list of activities in Biograd na Moru
Here are some of our favourites that we suggest you try this summer:
Whether you are the type to go for an early morning run and swim
like to chill all day or go late night dipping
you will find a spot that suits your needs
Biograd offers a variety of terrain and conditions on its beaches
to a sandy beach perfect for the little ones
There is plenty of space both in the sun and in the shade
we suggest renting a lounge and/or an umbrella
The little stands include everything from bakeries
fast food and ice cream to fresh fruit and salads
Thanks to the neighbouring islands being so dense and so close to Biograd
a sunset will look different depending on where you stand
you could have it so that you can still see the sun nesting between the islands from one point when it’s not visible from another point just a few hundred metres down
Whether you want to see it reflecting in the sea
one thing is always true – every sunset is more beautiful than the previous
and Galešnjak can all be seen from Biograd or places nearby
or try counting and naming them while having your afternoon swim
With pubs and restaurants densely populating the entire stretch of the beach
we challenge you to stay hungry or thirsty in Biograd
have your afternoon iced coffee in the shade of one of the beach bars
go about your evening enjoying some fresh local seafood followed by Italian-inspired gelato
round it all up with a cocktail or two right by the sea
get up early to catch the local fishermen coming back from their nightly catch and buy some of the best fish directly from them
or visit the local market for more fresh produce
you can never go wrong with some dried figs and olive oil which are produced in something like every other house
If you notice fruit or olives in backyards
try knocking on their doors and finding out if you can buy some to take home
it won’t take more than a few knocks to declare mission success
After you’ve eaten and fed your entire family
Embrace the healthy Dalmatian ways and chill in the shade for a bit until it all settles down
Only after a little nap under the pines will you be ready to move
The 4 km stretch by the sea should be enough for recreational joggers
and if you get up early you will be rewarded by the sun rising above the pines in the most charming of ways
If you prefer running long distances or cycling
and following the Adriatic Highway towards Zadar for some truly breathtaking views
With most of it being covered with cycling paths
It will take you through a few charming little villages
but its true beauty lies in the fact that for the most part
it passes right by the sea and provides perfect little private swimming spots
Tired of the beach, had too much ice cream, or maybe the sea is too salty? Head out to Lake Vrana
a nature park just a short drive from Biograd
It is filled with brackish water and is home to many species of fish and birds
The area of the park also encompasses a few localities dating as far back as the 9th century
Even if you’re only out for a day of birdwatching and walking
or hike to one of the viewpoints to see the Kornati National Park from above

Viviani second and Kristoff third as track World Champion times sprint to perfection
Iúri Leitão (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) stole a march on the major teams on stage 2 of the CRO Race to claim the victory with a well-timed long charge for the line
Race leader and stage 1 winner Elia Viviani (Ineos Grenadiers) did his utmost to regain lost ground after Leitão launched his sneak attack with some 250 metres to go
But the Italian had too much ground to make up
romping past Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X) for second but failing to reach the Portuguese racer
"This is a great victory for me and the whole team
because it came against big competitors from the World Tour
I'm thankful to my team for their trust in me and I'm happy to finally have justified that trust
The relatively short stage worked well for us as it allowed us to save some energy for the very finish," stated Leitão after the stage.
punchy day of racing between Biograd na Moru to Novalja saw a four-man break go clear early on
but the sprinters' teams were able to shut things down well before the finishing circuit
Leitão then upstaged all the big names with his well-timed late move
Leitão’s teammate and Venezuelan National Champion Orluis Aular was also a key contributing factor to Caja Rural-Seguros RGA collectively upsetting the applecart.
Aular swooped across the front of the peloton and then let the wheel go just after Leitão
had darted away in classic track specialist style.
Then the gently curving left-hand bend leading to the finish line made it impossible for the opposition to get back on terms and the win was in the bag
"Today we had the intention of preparing the sprint for me
that is why the team has worked perfectly all day to leave me in front as comfortable as possible
I already noticed that I felt good," Leitão said
"The teammates were phenomenal during the stage
highlighting the help of Orluis [Aular] at the end to overtake cyclists in the last 3 kilometers
I had legs and that's why I decided to attack soon."
dry weather and a very short stage distance encouraged a fast start and it took some time for the main early move to crystallize for good.
The breakaway that ultimately formed contained Kristijan Koren (Adria Mobil)
Jan Kaspar (ATT Investments) and Marvin Hammerschmid (Hrinkow Advarics).
their chances of staying away were painfully uncertain
Skok was the first to get dropped of the four
visibly cramping while the trio battled on bravely
Then on the first of a last brace of climbs with some 25 kilometres to go
Lidl-Trek piled on the power to shred the threesome's lead to the bare minimum
continued to stretch out the much-reduced bunch over the top and claim the mountains points
two-lane road as they moved uphill away from the coast
virtually nobody was dropped by the time they reached the summit
the front group was still nearly 100 riders strong as the race approached the technical one-lap finishing circuit and a second bunch sprint in as many days looked all but certain
The stage finally burst into some sort of semblance of life in the fast descent to the finishing city
touching speeds of 60km/h as the different lines of some of the big-name teams - Ineos
The peloton then blasted through the gently curving finish with 4.4 kilometres to go
moving onto a technical circuit consisting of multiple bends and a few grinding
Fighting to keep Viviani in position at the end of a four-man line of riders
Ineos Grenadiers teammates Luke Plapp and Magnus Sheffield first found themselves seeing off Bahrain Victorious only to have to contend with an equally aggressive Q36.5 and Jayco-AIUIa
The British squad’s control of affairs subsequently crumbled in the increasingly fraught finale
and when Caja Rural-Seguros RGA pulled off the collective heist
none of the rival teams had a quick enough answer to stop them
Viviani still remains in the overall lead for stage 3’s 133km ride from Otačac to Opatija after Wednesday’s surprise result - but with just six seconds to spare on Leitão overall and the rest of the peloton close behind
the top spot in the CRO Race remains very much up for grabs for now
