Thanks to a €33 million support from Cohesion Policy
citizens in Croatia's Adriatic coast agglomerations of Novi Vinodolski
Crikvenica and Selce will benefit from better collection and treatment of wastewater
This area currently suffers from significant water losses
while maintenance of the sewerage network is hampered by illegal stormwater connections
which was launched in 2017 and now enters its second phase
has added close to 53 km of new sewerage pipelines to the network and reconstructed 19 km of the existing pipelines
2.8 km of new water supply pipelines have already been built whilst 10.4 km of pipelines have been reconstructed
Ten pumping stations were constructed and five rebuilt
Executive Vice-President for Cohesion and Reforms Raffaele Fitto said: “This project is a concrete example of how Cohesion Policy is improving the life of EU citizens every day
Crikvenia and Selce can look forward to safer water
improved sewage collection and a higher attractiveness of the area for tourists
This project will also contribute to the environmental protection of the Croatian Adriatic coast as improved sewage collection and treatment will reduce contamination of the soil and sea water”
the wastewater treatment plants that service the two agglomerations of Novi Vinodolski and Selce will be upgraded to provide secondary sewerage treatment
The Novi Vinodolski plant will also have a solar sludge dryer to treat sewage from both plants
Crikvenica and Novi Vinodolski are touristic areas on the Adriatic Coast that attract about 329,000 visitors a year
The project will give a further boost to their attractiveness to tourists

Home > News General > Boat filling stations in Croatia: INA filling station Crikvenica-Obala will soon be open again
Soon more functioning gas stations in Croatia
The reason for this optimistic outlook was the Croatian government’s announcement that it intended to grant INA concessions for the use of gas stations in the maritime sector for a limited period of five years
It has now been determined that this does not apply to the Novalja gas station
In an official information dated September 17, 2024, INA announced that the “INA sales point Crikvenica-Obala is currently being renovated” and “will reopen soon”
which is good news for all sports skippers
because at least it is now certain that they will be able to refuel there again soon (we will provide information about the exact date here)
The bad news is that the statement confirmed that the INA sales outlet Novalja-Obala is indeed to remain “permanently closed”
So it remains the case: those who end up here have only the option of heading 15 nautical miles north towards Rab
taking a 25-nautical-mile route west to Mali Losinj
or hoping that the fuel will last for the approximately 32 nautical miles to Zadar to the south

Text description provided by the architects. The public competition for regulation of the center of Crikvenica was announced in 2011
and the first phase of the project is now completed
After the works on shore line expansion 20 m towards the sea finished in 2012
Stijepan Radić Square was completed in 2013
With finalization of the main city square Crikvenica finally got the first representative public space
Next phases involve regulation of rest of the city center including the Park of the fallen for homeland and the construction of City pavilion along with another square
© Ivan DorotićA tree line as a main element of the promenade forms a backbone which collects different public contents creating various ambients along the promenade. Stjepan Radić Square becomes a center towards which all the seaside movement gravitates and, as such, demands a large open space.
© Ivan DorotićThe promenade is pulled inside with its public contents (terraces) and along with the tree line it forms the main square with the only clear sea view in Crikvenica
Strong interventions were avoided so that the various usage possibilities on the main square would be possible
The existing ground height difference is used to differentiate terraces from the open space of the square forming a staircase / sitting area on the contact zone of the square and terraces
Shaded terraces for catering contents became an audience space towards the sea and the square
Over-hangs were put among the tree tops for the protection from the sun and rain without damaging the main (clear) ambient of the square
The road as a negative factor with its mild and frequent denivelations „stone waves“ in contrast with the square becomes an attraction for the cars and for the pedestrians
enabling comfortable and slow movement of all participants in traffic
The road is disconnected from the pedestrian zone with tactile barriers in tessellation for safety and to inform about the road without creating a visual barrier towards the sea

Croatia — I am passionate about the work in Croatia because of the huge door that God has opened there to work together to share the gospel
Two years ago, we visited Croatia on a joint venture with Next Generation for Christ and Let’s Start Talking.
There we met Jura Lazar, director of Croatia for Christ, and many of the wonderful Croatian church leaders. Croatia for Christ was transitioning from a radio ministry to a TV ministry and asked to broadcast our Story of Redemption Film Series with Croatian subtitles
They have been doing this broadcast now for about a year
More than 1,000 people have called in from this series, receiving a wonderful Croatian Bible from Eastern European Mission and an invitation to a local church
This month, we had a mission team of 23 from the Fairfax Church of Christ in Virginia along with two representatives from Let’s Start Talking (Craig and Leslee Altrock) spend a week at the Croatian coast at Crikvenica
going through the English learning version of the Story of Redemption Film Series with about 45 Croatians
Working with and through the Varazdin Church of Christ, we were able to share the Gospel with this group of mostly seekers
who came from Let’s Start Talking contacts
the Croatia for Christ Story of Redemption broadcast
Facebook advertising and personal contacts
and about 30 seekers came from the camp joined us for worship that Sunday morning at the Varazdin church
They received free Bibles from Christ for Croatia for Christ and Eastern European Mission
The overwhelming majority of Croatians identify as Roman Catholic
this functions more as a national identification card
with being Catholic equated with being a good Croat
preacher for the Varazdin Church of Christ
What is missing is a personal and communal relationship with Jesus
But the good news is that when the Croatians actually hear the Gospel and learn the story of Jesus
said after our mission team came that he had never seen so many open people
This is the power of God’s story and God’s work when we actually enter into relationship and share it
This is what I am excited and passionate about

2020 – A first in the world of French fries as Croatian company Surf’n’Fries debuts its new French Fry Vending Machine at Monty’s Dog Beach in Crikvenica
A first in the world of French fries today as Croatian company Surf’n’Fries debuted the pilot of their new French Fry Vending Machine at Monty’s Dog Beach in Crikvenica
Now hunger needn’t call a halt to the good time your dog and kids are having by the sea; you can get fresh
“We started working on it three years ago,” says Andrija Čolak
whose Surf’n’Fries fast food outlet has franchises in four continents
so we thought the ultimate step would be to go to vending machines
we collaborated with a Croatian company called Integra and managed to make this pilot.”
“We chose this beach because it’s close to our home and we can easily check on it,” says Čolak
who also runs a consultancy firm in Rijeka
the city where he co-founded the well known Kisha umbrella brand
“Also because this beach is very famous and it has a beach bar for dogs
We adjusted the design and graphics of the machine so it would fit in alongside the beach bar.”
it’s options are limited to salt and ketchup
But Andrija’s vision extends much further
“In the future we plan to add more sauces and probably chicken nuggets as well,” he told TCN from the sun-soaked first day in Crikvenica
“We’ll work at this location until the end of the season
the plan is to test it at the main bus station in Zagreb
in particular venues which operate 24 hours.”
“Vending machines are having a bit of a renaissance because you can now connect them to the internet,” reckons Andrija
“That has all sorts of implications for stock ordering and the customer experience
You could use facial recognition to recognise returning customers
ask them if they want the same again or even offer rewards.”
TCN isn’t quite sure it wants recognising as a regular indulger in French fries
but if we’re in Crikvenica this summer you can count on us sneaking a sample of Surf’n’Fries from the French Fry Vending Machine on Monty’s Dog Beach
and website in this browser for the next time I comment
Home > News General > “Bermuda Triangle” for fuel customers: Boat filling stations in Croatia closed or demolished
Croatia now also has its own “Bermuda Triangle” for fuel customers who want to fill up with petrol or diesel
Due to the closure of the boat filling station in Novalja and another boat filling station in the Mali Losinj area
there is virtually no possibility of filling up with petrol or diesel between the two islands of Rab and Cres down to Zadar
Skippers in particular who are launching their boats and yachts over Easter should be aware of this fact and fill up their tanks in good time
a lot has changed for the upcoming water sports season in terms of fuel supply – anyone traveling in the region is advised to inform themselves thoroughly in advance and integrate the changed situation into their trip planning
But first things first: The INA petrol station in Crikvenica remains currently closed for boats
It is still questionable whether it will open at all in June 2024
when the water sports season really takes off
SeaHelp will look into the situation and provide updates on progress here
However, if you want to fill up with petrol or diesel in Novalja on the island of Pag, as in the past, you will be in for a nasty surprise: instead of the petrol station, skippers can now expect a parking area and a new mooring for fishermen
The old boat landing stage has been dismantled
If you get stranded here with an almost empty tank
your only options are to head 15 nautical miles north towards Rab
take a 25-nautical-mile route towards Mali Losinj or hope that you have enough fuel for the 32 nautical miles to Zadar
SeaHelp offers its members a fuel service
but this is likely to quickly reach its limits when larger yachts need to be supplied due to the transport capacity on the SeaHelp rescue boats alone
the urgent advice to all skippers in the affected region: Pay attention to the changed fuel station situation in the Croatian “Bermuda Triangle” for fuel customers and take precautions

As Morski writes
the much-loved Crikvenica Hotel International
located in the city port just a few dozen metres from the shoreline will soon be demolished
more modern and luxurious hotel is set to arise
The Crikvenica Hotel International was first opened back in 1964
centre and symbol of all singing and dancing carnival events for the Crikvenica and Crikvenica-Vinodol area
as well as for the wider Rijeka area which spilled over into it
The hotel was renovated and redesigned back in 1986 and remains an active hotel within the Crikvenica-based hotel company Jadran (Adriatic)
emphasising that this year’s summer tourist season was high above anyone’s expectations
Novi list has since learned that the future Crikvenica Hotel International will be a wider and taller building
it should have a spacious passage through the centre of the building and a much larger number of rooms than the previous fifty
Precisely what kind of investment is in question isn’t being discussed openly yet

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Lucija Spiljak writes
the Croatian Dash City company has introduced a system of renting out electric scooters using a mobile application (app) in fifteen Croatian cities and municipalities – Umag
It is the first company in the Republic of Croatia and the country’s wider region to deal with the rental of increasingly popular electric scooters through a fully automated sharing system at charging and rental stations
The first system for e-scooters was launched back in pre-pandemic 2019 as a pilot project in the Dalmatian city of Zadar
where those numbers grew from five to eight stations
Croatian Dash City e-scooters are available to be rented out in Crikvenica
The fleet currently boasts 500 scooters and more than 30,000 registered users
“More and more cities and companies are investing in sustainable mobility
With the use of the most modern technologies
healthy and environmentally friendly movement from point A to point B can be met,” said Kresimir Dvorski
the founder of the Croatian Dash City company and the former director of the Public Bicycle System
has introduced Nextbike in 35 cities and is the first and largest public bicycle system in the entire region
The speed of the Croatian Dash City company’s e-scooters is limited to 25 kilometres per hour in order to minimise the risk of accidents
and all scooter users are recommended to wear a helmet and
“Since we started our business in Croatia last year
our goal has been connecting as many Croatian destinations to as many European destinations as possible
Different cities can be reached in a simple and cheap way
which also enables foreign tourists to reach Croatia more easily.” Petra Milanović

Monty's Dog Beach bar in Crikvenica opened last year
Croatia's dog-friendly beach /Reuters Photo
A special kind of race took place yesterday in Croatia’s only dog beach bar
If you’re travelling with a pet… First of all
We know it’s not easy to organise a trip to accommodate your four-legged friend
and even though it’s completely fine to leave your pet with someone who will take care of it while you’re on holiday
you get bonus points for making sure your dog (or cat
or a talking parrot if you’re really cool) sees what the world has to offer beyond the local park
you’re here on the coast and it’s only fair the pooch gets to take a dip in the Adriatic as well
A list of dog-friendly beaches is a short Google search away
and you’ll find a lot of places where dogs can swim and run around all they like without anyone rolling their eyes at you
lounged around a bit and now you’re thinking about a cold beer
at Monty’s Dog Beach Bar in Crikvenica
your pooch can get a pint even without any ID
we’re not talking about regular beer – refreshment for dogs is made out of a vegetable base and chicken
laid-back place where both the owners and their best friends can kick back and relax
there’s a serious leisurely vibe going on:
Monty’s likes to shake things up every now and then
so they organised an entertaining championship on Sunday
It was a swimming competition that had dogs and their people participating in pairs: they had to run along the waterfront
and swim the 100-metre distance to the shore in order to complete the race
According to Reuters
the winner was a mixed breed samoyed named Nimbus
who finished the course in a few minutes and won a 7-kg bag of dog food
The mighty duo was also awarded a weekend at a local dog-friendly hotel
while the runners-up got a dinner at a local bistro
all the participants had a pretty good time
sticking around at Monty’s afterwards at a special party organised for the athletes
and it’s clear the crew behind the endearing bar cares about animals and wants to provide them with best possible service
It’s only up to you to take care your pooch doesn’t have one too many

As previously announced on TCN
CIHT 2022 will be holding its tenth Jubilee edition later this week
the premier health tourism conference in Croatia
there will be a very international field of quality expert speakers
including one of the conference’s most-loved keynote speakers
TCN caught up with Geva ahead of his latest visit to the Kvarner Riviera
to learn more about the industry in the wake of the pandemic
a conference which has strong local support (CIHT is organised by the Crikvenica Tourist Board and Kvarner Health Tourism Cluster
with the Kvarner Region Tourist Board a key sponsor)
Many of them want to make sure that healthcare providers understand them before they even arrive
That creates a completely different customer profile
and their expectations go together with anxieties and lower trust
different safety rules in different locations etc
contributed to hesitance and wanting to know everything in advance
The second big factor: Transportation is not the same
which means less flights all over the world
which means less comfortable scheduling for patients
Croatia has great medical professionals in many specialties
I know personally a few that are really excellent in what they do
Opportunities were created because of a lack of activity during the pandemic
I’m not sure about the rest since the last time I’ve been there
is present at this conference to meet with the members of the Kvarner Cluster and see how we can help them
Croatians are extremely patriotic and proud (as they should be)
as well as other destinations around the world
The economy is in bad shape; prices are going up all over
the geopolitical scene is changing rapidly etc
A specific weakness is in the fact that health providers are still not willing to invest in their business
and I mean building brands and doing brilliant marketing
has medical professionals who think that if they are good doctors for the domestic population
they can be successful in attracting global clientele
Learn from the biggest and the most successful
Mayo Clinic invests in marketing and never stops building its’ brand
Does a small clinic owner in Split have a chance without doing the same
(of course they need to do it with a smaller budget
but many European medical tourism conferences have vanished…there must be a reason
CIHT has been here for 10 years because they provide a great platform to the local medical travel
The conference is an important part of the medical travel industry in Kvarner because it is part of building the brand of the destination
All other conferences are moving around from one location to another
CIHT is all about the local community and the Kvarner members of the cluster
get a sense of how their business plans are moving forward
and see where I can help the cluster as a whole
the Kvarner cluster is doing a better job than the rest of the country
not a new ad campaign with a wonderful new headline
Do not fracture the Croatian medical tourism brand into hundreds of little clinic brands
Croatia had 250 different local tourism brands
build a few major regional brands and support them
while they are collaborating and not competing with each other…sounds easy
See above…it is much more involved around internal brand building than the expensive external stuff
Since I am not looking for a wife or a girlfriend
the wonderful history and colors of the place
It is a fantastic combination that makes all my senses sing
You can connect with Ilan Geva via LinkedIn

As canine tourism is on the rise and there are nearly 60 million dogs in the EU
it was only a matter of time before we started giving our four legged friends beach bars of their own
Monty’s Dog Beach Bar is now open in Crikvenica
offering up a place where dogs can get dog ice cream
the dog beer is made out of a base of vegetables and chicken
and the dog ice cream is made from bananas
They even offer medicinal teas for older dogs that need better hair growth

as they can order drinks and snacks (for humans) from the cafe as well
The first dog cafe in Croatia has quickly become a success
revolutionizing how we hang out with man’s best friend today

Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a base near seaside in North
KRK Island is nearby but need to plan long drives to Istria
So best if you want place on seaside to relax
stay put with maybe closer area visits instead
Not sure we would book one place again but maybe stay in several for two nights each so we better see country
Like apartments versus hotels but to ease travel would prefer to stay several places versus so much daily driving
(Restaurants) We liked Nada on Vrbnik on KRK Island and Francopan locally
(Enjoyed) Just relaxing out on grounds in sun with sea facing
A lovely setting with great access to the sea
The owners could not have been more helpful
They were horrified that one of the air conditioning units was not working (the apartment had one in every room) and immediately arranged for it to be repaired
It was beautiful and the accommodation and location were really lovely
(The) dramatic landscape and the people were so friendly the weather was amazing
The apartment was very dark and the lights in the room were not very cosy
Property response: I suppose that they were very dissapointed about the weather
it was raining all the time the whole week
Regarding the lights: there are 2x ceiling lights ( each with 3 bulbs in) and a lamp beside the sofa bed in the living room
again such a ceiling light and two lamps on each side of the bed in the bedroom...There is also a neon over the sink and one over the electric hob
The only things are: - it is situated in the middle of industrial harbours which does not give the best feelings
But you do not feel any impact in the quality of the environment In general it was a very beautiful villa with an amazing pool and private beach!!
I already recommended you to several of my friends
Really lovely place with all we could have wanted and helpful information from the owner
Also useful to be not too far from the airport and Cavtat and Dubrovnik
The agent failed to turn up on the morning that we left
despite our having arranged to meet him there at 9.00
As he had not turned up by 9.30 we had to leave for the airport
I know unexpected things can happen but as he had my mobile number an apology might have been nice
going to the trouble of showing us the best places to visit
The property was beautiful and the owners - very friendly and helpful
large enough for a good group of people and the grounds of the property beautiful with the pool and gardens and a great view over the hills
They helped up with taxis and airport transfers
It would be helpful if airport transfers could be booked with the agent at the time of booking the villa
(Property manager was) very helpful and overwhelmingly popular with everyone
One of our party likes to have a bath and it was unfortunate that there was not a bathroom in the house
I liked that you offered excursions and other things
It is good that you warned about the difficult drive way
The website needs to say that it has wi-fi
It also would have been helpful to have an address so that we could have used our GPS navigation
It worked out well for us but getting to the property down the steep driveway in our big van was very difficult
and we scraped the side trying to get into the parking space
It took some getting used to maneuver the van in and out of the property
The website should let people know that a small vehicle is best to use
Caretaker was there to greet us and guide us down or we would have never found it
But once inside she helped us a lot and served us refreshments
She also gave us her phone number and email so that if we needed anything she was available
Villa Comments: I know about the road but unfortunately we cannot change it although it certainly was a big van
About the kitchen towels they should have asked me
Beautiful property with lots of different seating areas for sunshine/shade and direct access to our own bit of shoreline
Really appreciated the provision of food and fruit on arrival
plus the abundance of towels and bathroom products for use during our stay
and lovely cleaner. Owner was very attentive after a big storm that disrupted the internet service to the property
who obviously took pride in the property and wanted to give us a good holiday.Impressed with: Beautiful weather
good food. Not impressed with: We found the service in some of the shops/restaurants a bit perfunctory: a cultural rather than personal issue
we assumed!Recommend: We enjoyed the local tavernas on the seafront in Orebic.Favourite villa moment: Sitting out in the garden looking out over the sea.Stayed August 2016
kind and attentive but not invasive. Impressed with: The Adriatic Sea is beautiful to swim in.Not impressed with: The Bosnian corridor traffic jamRecommend: Water taxi to Korcula
most of the restaurants in Orebic were great value- we noticed the difference when we went to Korcula town.Favourite villa moment: Swimming in the seaStayed July 2016
We have just returned from our holiday in Croatia where we stayed in two of the properties handled by you
Both places we stayed were really good but particularly the one in Seget Vranjica where we spent the first week
The apartment was absolutely fantastic with excellent terraces to front and side
The owners were kind and helpful and made the whole experience perfect
When you go self-catering you always take a bit of a chance on the quality of accommodation
used the pool and BBQ for most of our stay
Information about closest shops etc would have been helpful
Owners were very helpful and prompt.Impressed with: Sunny
Very helpful in assisting with our villa selection and communicating with the owner regarding our specific requirements
Map of the immediate area showing shops/facilities would've been very helpful
There could've been some information on the condition of the road leading up to the villa - part of it could not be navigated without doing a three point turn at the edge of a precipice which could be extremely daunting to a nervous driver
An itemized list of facilities available in the villa (such as coffee machines etc - see below) would've been appreciated
We enjoyed our stay in this secluded villa with amazing views of the town and Split and generally well-stocked for self-catering
A few small things were missing which would've made the stay quite a bit easier: there were no instructions on the (rather complicated) hot water system except (we think) in German which we could not translate
There was a lack of basic self-catering provision such as bin liners
There were dishwashers and washing machines but no detergent
coffee machines but no capsules or instructions
A map and list of facilities in the local area would've been very useful
There was a wasps nest in the guttering next to the upstairs balcony which meant at times we were inundated with flying pests and couldn't use the outside space as much as we would have liked and wasn't ideal with a toddler around
An iPod cable to the amazing stereo system would've been great
The caretaker was very helpful upon our arrival
provided cot as requested and visited to clean pool etc during the week
When we initially called the number provided for the caretaker
we got through to a Croatian woman who could only attempt to communicate with us in French which
despite several of the party speaking basic French
This was extremely frustrating and stressful when we were keen to just get to the villa after a long day of travelling
toilet rolls are generally not included with self-catering properties
These need to be purchased although often items such as washing up liquid are left behind by previous guests
A list of amenities and appliances are included on every villa page
Location was rated as Fair as the Villa is quite remote up very steep hills
especially to the shops to pick up basic supplies
For our needs that was ok but for those who might want to stroll to a village or a busier night life it's not really available unless you get taxis to and from the villa
helped arrange for taxis (not easy trying to describe where the Villa was located) and was on hand to help with other queries
She provided a nice welcome after a long day of travelling and was also very helpful when we needed to pick up mosquito bite cream
The road leading to the property is extremely steep and narrow
a nervous and/or inexperienced driver would have serious problems negotiating the route
willing to do anything to make ones stay comfortable.Impressed with: Beautiful coastline
wonderful contrasting mountainous interior
many cultural sites of interest and a friendly population
Recommend: Loved the towns of Trogir
the national park Krka.Favourite villa moment: Views of the island of Brac from the terrace.Stayed June 2016
It really is quite remote confident driving skills necessary
personal care taken and direct phone conversations (with Croatian Villas) which I appreciate
It has a wonderful location on terraces on a hillside
Visitors should ideally be aware that (a) the road to the property is steep and narrow so ideally the car should not be too wide or (especially) long to aid turning
(b) there may be friendly cats which could be a problem to someone allergic to cat hairs and (c) there is another house immediately behind the villa
though the occupiers were very quiet and discreet and we never even met them
gave us a free supper on arrival and helped us with places to see and restaurants to try
The only problem was that the directions for meeting the owner to find the villa were misleading
They described a turning opposite a hotel which was actually more than a mile from the turning
As a result we had a difficult time finding the owner until a local restaurant gave us a map
we strongly recommend you to supply a simple local map to help those arriving - and certainly to change and expand the directions
Thank you very much for facilitating a great holiday
Croatian Villas Comments: We have updated the directions as per your suggestion
Owners were there to meet us and after showing us around said he was available by text or by mobile
but we didn't need to contact him and didn't have any other dealings with them
We did ask by email prior to travelling if beach towels were provided and were advised they weren't and therefore brought these with us and when arrived there were actually towels provided
The only downsides of this property are the lack of a pool
which there would be room to build in the largely unused garden at the rear
but understand this may not be practical given location
Fortunately it wasn't too hot and the sea is close by for a quick dip
The other issue is regarding the privacy of people walking up the steps to the Mali Ston walls
although there wasn't a huge amount of people - we actually caught one lady looking over the wall while we were sunbathing
After some careful locating of the umbrella this gave us more privacy
but a small fence or additional planting would resolve this
The additional of a BBQ would also add to the self-catering facilities
Villa comments: Great to hear people enjoy their stay overall
About the BBQ and more privacy - a big stone BBQ will be ready for 2013 and a fence of some kind to keep people from looking in
so that will be sorted. The pool idea is great but being located within the village walls
planning regulations for the moment do not allow for a pool to be built
Beautiful old house right amidst the old stone walls of Mali Ston with great views and patio
Villa was very well furnished and decorated
Due to the amount of steps to get to property it is only suited for people who are mobile and don't mind climbing in/out of their villa to do anything
Only negative is villa needs microwave due to location which owner seemed to resist
Only place in world we have visited over last 10 years that does NOT have one
Also owner did not know how to operate her TV which was a real inconvenience-again due to location and steps
Area is very scenic with great local red wines and seafood
Impressed with: SceneryNot impressed with: It is more expensive than I thoughtRecommend: The 2 restaurants next to each other on quayside in Mali ston...also day trip to Bosnia is well worth itFavourite villa moment: Lazy day spent sitting near the villa on the steps by the wall with coffee and reading materialsStayed April 2018
There is long term renovation work going on at the building next door and although it is not a constant ongoing noise it might be worth mentioning that there may be a small amount of noise from that from time to time
The owner was staying in the village at the time and has a long term family history there so was always on hand and helpful with any questions
Anything she was not sure of she got back to us with information which was great
We also spent a lovely evening with the owner
friends and other guests which was very nice
We have taken holiday lets before and the only other thing we normally have that is useful is a short note on how to leave the villa on exit
And perhaps a little mud map of the village and what is available there and nearby
When we arrived we were met and shown around but it's a lot to process and remember when you've just got there so having a note to refer back to is always helpful
shower heads or hot water but I’ll go and check it out and replace/fix what is needed
The previous guests didn't mention anything about the shower heads
The main issue here could be low water pressure in high season but we will double check everything
I apologize for the inconvenience this might cause you
Charge more money and include toilet paper
Croatian Villas comment: If you would like a grocery shop to be arranged before your arrival
we can arrange this if you e-mail us a list of products you would like purchased
The owners were outstandingly obliging and could not have been more helpful
Very satisfied overall however Wifi signal is pretty low which makes it challenging to use properly
Impressed with: Hospitality from people
Full of information about local restaurants
Better access to wifi - especially for people who may have a work emergency while on vacation
Villa Comments: Router is located on the ground floor of a 3-4 story building
Internet is not strong everywhere so maybe not so good in the bedroom with doors closed
On the terrace/balcony WiFi is usually very good
The location was perfect and the town of Brela was adorable
breakfast was included with our reservation which was a pleasant surprise
They had good recommendations of places to go visit and restaurants to try
Would return to the property if we required group travel accommodation Land line for telephone was not working
Relax and enjoyImpressed with: Beauty of the country and Adriatic coast. Not impressed with: Bank services not readily available. Recommend: Bar NauticaFavourite villa moment: Enjoying breakfast and sunsets on the terrace
The entire first floor was enjoyed by all.Stayed September 2015
Slightly confusing - although the apartment appeared to be managed by the Pastura hotel it was actually owned by Vrilo hotel - so any problems had to be reported to them and we couldn't charge anything at the Pastura.
Cleaning seemed slightly erratic - never sure when they were due so couldn't just leave towels on the floor as requested
Villa Comments. The apartments are not offered the same service as in the hotel so for example they are not cleaned every day
this is not included with self-catering apartments
The property is very good and may have more confort simply adding dish washer and washing machine
More ovre the air coinditioning system located on the roof is a little bit noisy
People of the hotel are very nice and kind
Impressed with: The beauty of the beaches and the kindness of people
The facilities were great although a washing machine would have been handy
:-) I assumed there would be one so packed light but not the end of the world
The WiFi could not be picked up in apartment 2 and only in the window of the sitting room in apartment 1
They took care of everything we needed and were very helpful
We were told that Croatian villas have not changed this info despite informing about this mistake
Only thing - I didn't like extra fee when making transaction
Villa Comments: Correct check in details have been updated
Thanks for all your help with our special questions
everything we asked for was picked up fast and flexible and friendly!
Really lovely location - overlooking the small harbour at Splitska
Booked 2 property (TG005 and BC021) Both excellent thanks
The owners were very accommodating in both Villas
More info on ferries to Brac at the end of the holiday in order to get our flight out of Split
We managed to get on the first ferry at 5 am in order to catch our flight at 11:00
There was some late night noise from the restaurant/bar below the property
The close proximity of this was not made clear in the brochure description - the word 'nearby' was used
beautiful sea and gentle people that speak English or German
It was a wonderful place to stay - the location was just perfect with the sea just outside our door and the village itself was lovely
It was very near to Trogir which was gorgeous
Owners were exceptionally helpful and welcoming - it was like going to stay with family
The air conditioning was only in the lounge and we would have benefitted from a fan in each bedroom
But the advantages definitely outweighed the disadvantages and we would very much like to go there again
The owners were delightful; they made us very welcome
even though we arrived late due to flight delays
They welcomed us with beer and one day even brought us food
Perfect location - very clean - unfortunately no air conditioning in main bedroom but we got by
The owners of the property went beyond the normal perimeters of looking after us - I have never met such a lovely couple who went all out to make our stay as enjoyable as possible and more
They were happy to give their all and made our holidays one of our best
It was a nice quiet place with a great view
One criticism that may help further rentals though - The property is really quite difficult to find until you know where it is
We were lucky in the end as the owner met us later in the day and lead the way there
where many Slovenians go on a well-deserved vacation during the summer holidays
but none of these "dog welcome" beaches
which was previously considered the best beach for dogs on the Adriatic (according to the readers of the portal Top Destinations Hrvatska)
but now it has become so by leaps and bounds
That is where they opened the first dog bar (or rather several of them)
The attraction in the form of a dog house instantly became a real hit
In Crikvenica, Croatia recently opened the first dog bar, where they also serve, among other things dog beer and dog ice cream! Let someone else say that dogs can't enjoy the beaches like their owners! Monty's Dog Beach & Bar Crikvenica offers not only dog beer (it is a non-alcoholic Belgian Snuffle beer
vegetables and vitamin B) and dog ice cream
ice cream and snacks are not only reserved for dogs
they can also satisfy hunger or thirst dog owners
with "human" versions of said food and drink

Full disclosure – I love everything about the Crikvenica International Health Tourism (CIHT) conference
and I rate it as the very best of all the (many) conferences I have attended in Croatia over the years
Medical tourism is not a niche I would normally associate myself with
until the dynamo that is Ognjen Bagatin of the award-winning Bagatin Clinic introduced me to the sector a few years ago
I didn’t even realise that Croatia had a quality medical tourism sector.
I found myself in the rather surreal position of accepting an award in Kuala Lumpur at the inaugural Medical Travel Media Awards in August 2019.
I had no idea that the topic of medical tourism could be so interesting
the P word again in Croatian tourism) potential
Over the years, CIHT has consistently thought out of the box, bringing different viewpoints, not all of which are focused 100% on health tourism. Global tourism expert Doug Lansky was the star of the show two years ago with Lessons for Croatia: Successful Tourism by Doug Lansky at CIHT 2019
Added to the fact that CIHT is superbly run and has a great social aspect to it
and little wonder that it is the first conference I look out for
2022 are already in my diary for CIHT 2022.
And this year’s event brought so much brain food
and the timing of so of its presentations was timely indeed
I could go on for hours but here are some key points which tie in to developing Croatia’s untapped opportunities.
One of the great initiatives in the medical tourism sector has been the Medical Tourism Task Force
as part of the American Croatian Professionals Association (ACAP)
Cleveland has a very strong Croatian connection with medical tourism
most notably in the form of the CEO of Cleveland Clinic
Ognjen Bagatin has done a phenomenal job over the years strengthening that relationship
and ACAP’s Jeana Havidich flew in to address the conference to update the conference on progress being made to attract the target audience od 1.2 million Croatian diaspora
Jeana was followed by our favourite Dutch wannabe tomato-grower
Best-known for his successful push to bring a digital nomad visa to Croatia
Jan gave a great presentation on Croatia
the Land of Opportunity and his version of Living the Croatian Dream
Jan has really developed as a public speaker since I first heard him at Business Cafe International in Zagreb a couple of years ago
and it is slowly dripfeeding into the Croatian mindset of many local people.
And then I made my first big connection of the day – a wonderful opportunity.
the focus has been on trying to attract foreign patients to come to Croatia for treatment
far bigger than the 1.2 million diaspora in the USA – the remote worker.
Croatia is starting to attract a significant number of digital nomads and remote workers
We are at the tip of the iceberg and the beginning of a journey
and this – at least in my opinion – is the biggest opportunity Croatia has to develop its tourism sustainably.
CEO of Croatian startup ETF Airways (which flies all over Europe but not in Croatia) gave a great presentation on Croatian Tourism and Airlines: a Missed Opportunity
Lots of thought-provoking stuff that I will be exploring in greater detail with Velimir over a beer in Zagreb soon.
achieving incredible things and promoting both Croatia and its healthy lifestyle internationally
Vladomir Miholjevic has done so much to put Croatia on the global cycling map
from bringing his Bahrain Merida (as it was then) to Hvar for winter training for several years
an event that was beamed all over the globe.
And then I realised what it is that I love about CIHT – it is a place where Croatian world-class excellence is celebrated by real people who are doing not talking.
to make a better eco-system for all.
And then came the presentation that blew my mind
as Maria Antonietta Princivalle from BookingsMed gave a fascinating overview of the outbound Italian medical tourism market
Croatia has an excellent medical tourism reputation in Italy
And the Italian market brings significant revenue to the clinics of Istria and Kvarner.
But how much of an opportunity is Croatia missing out on with this captive market – great reputation
Some 550,000 Italian patients go abroad each year for thermal cures
Some 350,000 cross the border each year for aesthetic treatment
as far away as Thailand and Brazil.
who gave a fascinating presentation of the case study of Sveti Martin in promoting local producers and their local products
This is SUCH an obvious one for Croatia to develop
with its rich network of small producers of high-quality produce
and TCN will soon be reporting from Medjimurje on this excellent initiative
as well as exploring how we can expand its scope.
And no CIHT conference would be complete without the visionary legendica
who gave an inspiring presentation entitled Game Changer in Health and Wellbeing Holistic Solutions.
It is a sign of the growing relevance and excellence of CIHT that medical tourism professionals of the quality of Mario Skugor
It was great to see full two-day attendance from the Zagreb Tourist Board and the medical tourism department of the Ministry of Tourism
a little disappointing (although not surprising) that the Kingdom of Accidental Tourism
could not make the 2-hour journey from Zagreb when others had made such an effort
with great networking and new opportunities
There seems to be a renewed momentum within the Croatian medical tourism industry
2022 – it promises to be quite a 10-year party.
