Students running a relay marathon from Novi Sad to Brussels
they arrived in Virovitica in Croatia just before 20:XNUMX p.m.
The Austrian public media service ORF reported that Serbian students started a 2.000-kilometer ultramarathon based on the principle of relay running
during which they run from Novi Sad to Brussels in order to draw the attention of the European Union to the events in Serbia
They emphasized that this action is the latest in a wave of protests that has been going on since November
there is a day of mourning for the death of Mr
the citizens began to gather around 19:30 p.m
There were mostly Croatian high school students
There are also parents who accompany the marathoners
Among the banners they carried was one that read "Welcome" in Latin and Cyrillic
but they removed it at the suggestion of the police so that
the Cyrillic letters would not provoke anyone
told "Vreme" that the stage was cheerful and interesting
"We are running to carry the voice of the whole nation
To point out what is happening in the country," says this student of the Higher Technical School in Novi Sad
When asked if Brussels is the right address
the first plenum of a faculty advocated for extraordinary elections and a student list
We're here and we're running," says Kojcin
where last night I sang at a birthday party for wonderful people
I'm heading to Virovitica to meet the brave Serbian students
who are fighting for justice and running from Serbia to Brussels
They will arrive tonight at 21 p.m.," wrote Severina on her Instagram account
Let us remind you that the Croatian singer has supported the student protests in Serbia from the very beginning
and has publicly provided support at concerts several times
Severina also published a video from a protest in Serbia
where a young man was carrying a banner on which she was depicted stepping on a sandwich and holding an index in her hand with the inscription "Everything is with you."
I just held my breath..." What an honor to carry me on the banner..
Thank you to the students who brought people across Croatia and the whole world to the streets
What you are doing will enter the textbooks as the brightest part of the history of these areas
for the last 30 years," wrote Severina at the time
Serbian students repeated a hundred times that this is a marathon
Similar to Adam Mihnjik in the eighties in Poland
The government in Serbia is on the way to the end - you just need to be patient
With the inclusivity created at the plenums
students should continue during election engagement
including the opposition at some point - whatever it may be

The project ‘Forgotten Forest Fruit Trees’ has connected two forestry schools from Croatia and Hungary
In this way we have achieved a common goal of preserving rare and forgotten forest fruit trees
The result is a modern greenhouse and nursery where several thousand forest seedlings have been grown
which will be planted in Croatia and Hungary
makes this project important and noble in preserving what is left of us – The only planet earth
The fruit trees are considered important natural assets to the area and its biodiversity
As well as being a healthy and nutritious part of people’s diet
they are an important food source to the local deer population
If the deer were to run out of these fruit
they would likely eat and damage agricultural crops to make up the shortfall
The project helped develop a seed collection for the trees and paid for the construction of a 360 m2 greenhouse and all the tools necessary for the cultivation of the seedlings
Both schools were provided with the equipment required to nurture the seeds and grow new trees
Teachers at the two schools took part in 19 training courses to learn about the trees and their importance to the area
They passed on what they learned to students who participated in the project
both teachers and students explored and solved problems relating to the local ecosystem and the importance of preserving the region’s biodiversity
more than 200 people participated in joint educational activities and related events
which included hosting exhibitions and displays designed to raise awareness about the project and the importance of the trees
Total investment for the project “Forgotten Forest Fruit Trees” is EUR 160 096
with the EU’s European Regional Development Fund contributing EUR 136 081 through the “Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia” Co-operation Programme for the 2014-2020 programming period
The investment falls under the priority “4 Education”

Small-scale honey producer Jakupec has set up a honey vending machine in the Slavonian town of Virovitica
Jakupec won the Agroexopa Golden Spoon award for best honey three years ago
Anyone wishing for a jar of this delicious Slavonian honey, one of the Croatian delicacies protected at the EU level
It's a simple exchange: put 40 kuna in the vending machine and take your pick of honey.
You can choose from three types of honey: acacia
This no-contact selling system ensures safety for both customers and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic
Find this unique vending machine - and its un-bee-lievably tasty honey - at 31 Stjepan Radić street in Virovitica

A versatile company strikes gold with natural juices
Continuing our series celebrating excellence
some 20 years after the Croatian Chamber of Commerce initiated its ‘Let’s Buy Croatian’ campaign.
Although it is best known for its construction
the Brana company from Virovitica is becoming more and more prominent in the field of fruit and vegetables growing
including the production of natural juices
which have recently been awarded the Croatian Quality label by the Croatian Chamber of Economy
Brana was founded as a water management company in 1953
After many successful decades of operations in that field
in more recent times it has expanded to other industries
agriculture and processing of agricultural products
After constructing a large refrigerator unit for fruits and vegetables with a capacity of 2,000 tons
it has focused on agriculture and has since become one of the leading fruit and vegetable producers in Virovitica-Podravina County
cucumbers and other crops through shopping centres
It has developed successful cooperation with as many as 130 local farmers who grow fruit and vegetables on many hectares of land
and it also has its own ever-expanding production
“We are glad that farmers have recognised us a serious partner
We are working together with these hard-working people who know their job
trying to develop a fair business relationship and providing maximum assistance at every stage of production,” said Brana’s development manager Ivan Obrovac
Some of the company’s activities are supported by the European funds as well
New greenhouses were recently constructed in a project worth 13 million kunas
As much as 90% was covered by the European grants
vegetable crop machinery and new packaging machines,” explained Obrovac
“I would like to thank all the employees of the Regional Development Agency for assisting us in preparing and implementing the project
as well as our staff who are working hard on this assignment,” said Obrovac
the company has built a manufacturing plant for processing fruits and vegetables and production of natural juices
which rounded up the process of transforming fruits and vegetables into a high-value product
The hall is equipped with modern equipment necessary for the production of natural juices from apple
This project was also implemented with assistance from European funds
carrots and other fruit and vegetables which
due to even the slightest damage no longer meet the market conditions to be classified as the first class fruit
now become tasty juices which are offered by many catering facilities in the county and beyond
Juices are produced by pressing fruits and vegetables without the addition of preservatives
and they contain just naturally present sugars
explained that fresh fruits and vegetables are turned into juices of various combinations
and various combinations of other seasonal fruit,” said Pandur
“The juices from Virovitica have received the Croatian Quality label
and we will soon offer them to hotels chains on the Adriatic coast,” added Obrovac
Brana took part in the Agroexpo Fair in Vitovitica
as well as in the Breakfast from Croatian Farms event
which were both opened by Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić
Brana and its natural juices recently also took part in the “Let’s Buy Croatian” event in Zagreb
Numerous citizens gathered at Ban Josip Jelačić Square
where they could taste and buy various Croatian products
The campaign was launched so that consumers would buy more locally-made products
Brana promoted and sold its natural juices at special promotional prices
Customer feedback was highly positive: consumers said they liked the taste of juices and were interested in the origin of fruit used in their production
Brana gave its contribution to the common goal of promoting and developing a prosperous and competitive Croatian economy for the benefit of the whole society
By applying new technological and organisational solutions
Brana seeks to ensure the satisfaction of its clients and become a respectable partner in the development and realisation of new ideas and projects
it regularly invests in new equipment and technology and is actively involved in industry groups
while particular attention is given to the professional training of employees and technical and technological development of the company
The company currently has about a hundred employees working in construction and agricultural projects
have made such good business results possible,” concluded Obrovac
Brana is an excellent example of a versatile company which contributes to the development of its wider region through efforts in multiple fields
With determination to make its products and services even better
especially its juices which have received the Croatian Quality label
will become even more prominent in the future

"The Slatina project has the best available technology equipment with the highest level of energy efficiency and the lowest greenhouse gas emissions
as the leader in ESCO services in Southeast Europe
is planning more and more to invest in biomass and renewable energy plants
which is fully oriented towards energy saving and investment in clean energy projects
We are very proud of the cooperation with the Municipality of Slatina and the County
and the support they have provided to this project
as well as the excellent cooperation with Đuro Đaković
who together enabled us to build such a facility in Croatia," said Marko Podlesek
The dryer within the plant is used for drying biomass and thus maximizes the efficiency of the cogeneration plant
meaning that the plant produces 40GWh of electricity annually and 96GWh of thermal energy
The manufacturer of the boiler is a Croatian company Đuro Đaković TEP from Slavonski Brod
The Croatian Electricity Market Operator (HROTE) signed a contract for the purchase of electricity produced at 14 years
This plant is an example of the successful development of renewable energy sources in Croatia
especially in the Virovitica-Podravina County
The newly built cogeneration plant employs 13 workers from the territory of Slatina and is one of the first facilities in the new industrial zone of Trnovača

Why don’t we put some of your students’ artwork on display for this exhibit for one month?' And I thought what a wonderful idea.”

In 2018, Geo Power Zagocha received a license for geothermal exploration for energy production at the Slatina 2 location at a tender launched by the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency. Last year the company initiated the procedure of obtaining approval for the construction of the unit
The installed capacity of the power plant will be 20 MW
The announcement came after the meeting of Dragan Jurilj
The Virovitica-Podravina County said a location permit has been issued
“After the completion of the geothermal power plant in Velika Ciglena near Bjelovar
and we found a location with geothermal potential better than the one in Velika Ciglena,” said Jurilj
adding the implementation of the investment worth EUR 71 million would start in the summer
The third geothermal plant project in Croatia is in preparation
However, in October last year agency issued four more licenses for geothermal exploration, and one of them was for Legrad-1 location, which was previously obtained by MB Holding and is now assigned to Turkey’s Soyak
Dragan Jurilj said the geothermal well and power plant would be an initial investment
and that other economic activity can be added because there is a possibility for secondary use of thermal energy
and Geo Power Zagocha is a special purpose company”
Mayor Mirko Rončević said Čađavica would benefit from large electricity output from renewable sources
while the representative of the county asserted that this is by far the largest investment in the county

2020 – Tourism was on hold when we started this series of articles
So let’s look at the virtual resources available to explore Croatia virtually
We continue our new Virtual Croatia series with the tools to discover Virovitica
the center of the amazing region of Podravina
A few weeks ago I wrote that being a tourism blogger in the corona era was about as useful as being a cocktail barman in Saudi Arabia
and I am encouraged by the number of Croatian tourism businesses who are contacting us wanting to start thinking of promoting post-corona tourism.
One of the challenges of writing about tourism at the moment is that there is nothing positive to write about
With people confined to their homes and tourism in Croatia currently not possible
many have decided to go into hibernation until it is all over.
I think that this is a mistake, and I have greatly enjoyed the TCN series by Zoran Pejovic of Paradox Hospitality on thinking ahead to tourism in a post-corona world. You can find Zoran’s articles here
Way back on March 14 – several lifetimes ago – I published an article called Tourism in the Corona Age: 10 Virtual Ways to Discover Zagreb
now was an OUTSTANDING opportunity for tourism promotion
they yearn for their freedom and former lives
so give them the tools to thoroughly research and enjoy your destinations
and you will have then longing to be there
they will have a deeper understanding of the destination due to their research.
South Africa and Portugal were the first to do their post-corona tourism promotion videos several weeks ago (Post-Corona Tourism Planning: Lessons from South Africa and Portugal), a trick which has been followed by other tourism countries, the latest being Croatia with the national tourist board campaign, #CroatiaLongDistanceLove
But while these campaigns create longing and market presence
People now have time to really get into destinations
And dreams of escape to somewhere more exotic are high on the list of priorities of many.
So TCN has decided to help with that education with a new series called Virtual Croatia
where we will be helping you discover many of Croatia’s destinations with all the best virtual tools available on your self-isolating sofa at home.
We started with Tourism in the Corona Age: 10 Virtual Tools to Discover Hvar
After this, we put our a press release (which you can read here in English and Croatian) offering a free article to any local tourist board in Croatia who would like the free promotion in our Virtual Croatia series.
People from the Virovitica Tourist Board most kindly helped us put together a series of videos promoting their town and region.
History of the town and the Pejačević Castle
The project of the Pejačević Castle restoration
The story of lace traditionally made in Virovitica
Has this lovely town of remarkable history managed to get under your skin?
To discover more of virtual Croatia, you can follow this series in our dedicated section, Virtual Croatia.

The Embassy of the State of Israel and the Virovitica-Podravina County in cooperation with the Israel Export Institute and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) have organized a seminar on agriculture titled ''The use of new technologies in agriculture''
The seminar was held in the city of Virovitica on the 6th of March
whilst similar lectures will also take place in other Croatian cities such as Osijek
Experts from Israel's leading agricultural companies (NETAFIM, ND Project, PROFIT AGRO, Afimilk, ICL Fertilizers
ADAM) shared their experience and knowledge in order to inform local farmers on new technologies in agriculture regarding irrigation
''Israeli technology can be applied in Croatia
That is why we brought representatives of our most progressive companies that specialize in this technology
Israel is the leading country in agriculture technology
We are very successful in the development of modern technologies in order to compensate the fact that our geographical conditions may not be favourable for agricultural production
You would be surprised to see how our deserts ''bloom'' and how everything is so green''
the head of the Department of Economic affairs
''If we bear in mind that Israel produces most of its food on the area of 310,000 hectares
then this is definitely a country that can be an example for others''
The seasonal tourist train will run once a day on the route Osijek-Virovitica-Bjelovar-Zagreb-Split, reports HrTurizam
