More than 200 local actors gathered in Budapest
last Friday to celebrate their life-changing achievements with the help of EU funds 2014-2020: 10.000 additional places in nurseries
over 2.000 primary healthcare units renovated
3.700 hectares of new business parks in less developed settlements and 65.000 people trained
750 km new bicycle roads – to name but a few
The event marked the end of the two territorial programmes funding until year end investments in the less developed regions of Hungary and the more developed Central Hungary region with some EUR 4.6 billion
almost one fifth of European cohesion policy funding 2014-2020 aiming at reducing disparities of development across the country
Minister Navracsics showed his appreciation for the 13.000 supported projects which contributed to closing the gap between the more and the less developed regions and thanked the European Commission for the funds which contributed to “Hungary becoming more liveable and competitive”

Text description provided by the architects. Boglands are complex natural wetland ecosystems. They are like swamps and marshes, but their living environment and their soil is more complex, therefore they are more fragile. Hundreds of years ago Budapest was surrounded by boglands due to the proximity of the Danube River. But through centuries we drained them and now a very few hectares exist only.
One of them is completely untouched and is between one of the biggest shopping centres, and the M0 highway in the suburbs of Budapest. It is a magical land where large numbers of species find their shelter surrounded by a completely not welcoming urban environment. Out of the 265 bird species that settle in Hungary you can find 50 there, on a relatively small portion of land.
© Szabolcs MolnárNHOOD Services Hungary Ltd. who handles the land decided to develop an Educational trail here, to show the richness of this natural environment and introduce its importance to the wider audience. They invited us for a tender to design and build the architecture of the trail, and we won the tender in 2022.
© Szabolcs MolnárWith this feature our work connects to those ideas which are rooted in the contemporary observations, that edifices no longer can be attached to big cultural or societal narratives anymore but only can be compositions of forms and spaces of sense-making.
Concept Drawing 02The significant blue colour of the structures comes from the fact that blue and violet colours are the rarest colours in the nature. Hence this basic colour also connects the structures to the concept of highlighting the inevitable human touch. If something is blue in a natural environment than it is probable that it was made by human.
© Szabolcs MolnárOn the timber frameworks of the pavilions plants can easily run up in the upcoming years and according to our early idea, the future look of the pavilions and the trail will be closer to the visual feature of the paint of René Magritte The Blank Signature. On that picture the figure of a woman on a horse is surrealistically faded between trees, just as we wanted to hide and highlight our stepped shaped structures at the same time within the natural environment.
© Szabolcs MolnárFrom a constructor point of view the biggest challenge was to founding the trail and the pavilions on a marsh. Because of this difficulty the whole trail is a series of relatively short bridges with 6 meters length. With this we were able to reduce the number of ground screws from which finally we used 240 pieces and each of them were screwed down to the depth of 6 meters, where the first solid layer of the ground lays onto which it was possible to found the groundscrews.
© Szabolcs MolnárThe whole construction needed 10.000 meters timber beam and 60.000 woodscrews and was realised if four months
The biggest structure that was deployed to the place is the 15 meters long bridge that make possible to reach the bogland
this is the first bridge that was designed by Paradigma Ariadné

one of the major subsidiaries of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV)
with the majority of the company’s ownership transferring to a Hungarian private market participant
This move aims to bring a much-needed transformation to the four-decade-old railway vehicle fleet
Approximately 75 per cent of MÁV Vagon Ltd is set to change hands to private ownership, as confirmed by the MÁV-Volán Group
This decision was made by the government and follows earlier signals from Transport Minister János Lázár
emphasizing the need to introduce private capital into the company
this change will enhance the efficiency of railway vehicle development and maintenance within the group
MÁV has highlighted that involving private capital can streamline the processes of maintaining and manufacturing railway vehicles
the company has also underscored that MÁV Vagon will continue to be a subsidiary of MÁV-Volán
meaning that the alteration in ownership structure will not impact the terms of employment for the company’s workforce
The new majority owner of the company will be Magyar Vagon Ltd
a key player in the Hungarian railway vehicle manufacturing and maintenance market
known as the owner of the Dunakeszi Járműjavító
The signing of the contract is expected to take place in mid-October
Magyar Vagon Ltd has a connection to the Solva II Private Equity Fund
the ownership resolution of Magyar Vagon Ltd indicates that Gran Private Equity Ltd acted on behalf of the Solva II Private Equity Fund as the sole owner exercising the rights of Magyar Vagon Ltd
affiliated with the President and CEO of MOL
is the seventh most influential individual in Hungary
MÁV Vagon Ltd’s development capabilities and manufacturing capacity can effectively support these objectives
this transaction may also facilitate the market financing of vehicle manufacturing

We have explored the business successes of Péter Szijjártó’s old colleague and teammate
and how hundreds of millions of forints of public money from the Foreign Ministry contributed to them
Szilárd Benkő is an old friend of Péter Szijjártó
Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs
Having played football together for the Dunakeszi Kinizsi futsal team
Benkő accompanied Szijjártó throughout his political career and was his closest colleague for many years
when he left the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
saying he wanted to continue his career in the private sector
Although Benkő has indeed been active in business in recent years, photos published by 444.hu show that in 2020 Benkő was on the yacht Lady MRD
where the Foreign Minister was on holiday with his family incognito
and specifically with the foreign ministry headed by Szijjártó
received nearly 300 million HUF in non-refundable state funding from a back office of Szijjártó’s ministry
Companies in difficulty due to the coronavirus pandemic could apply for this money to avoid having to fire their employees
EUTEK guaranteed to save 4 jobs and invest 560 million HUF
It is not clear what kind of investment was carried out
but the company ended the year with a profit of almost 260 million
the company decided to pay a dividend of 750 million HUF
In 2022 Benkő also became a 95 per cent owner of a construction company with billions in revenues through a company
is a company that has been operating for decades and has won large government contracts in recent years
including a 2 billion HUF hospital construction project in 2020
he also bought a property management company from pro-government investors who previously operated the Buddha Bar Hotel
Benkő thus became the owner of two properties on the elegant Budapest street
We sent questions to Szilárd Benkő about the purchase price of VER-BAU and the subsidy granted to EUTEK
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFA)
which Benkő’s company benefited from
was a great success and created 12,600 jobs
MFA did not answer specific questions about Szilárd Benkő
has the original qualification of an instrument maker
He has been preparing for a career in music since childhood
graduating from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest with a degree in instrument making
he taught knowledge of stringed instruments at a college in Győr
he has spoken about his award-winning violins
and in 2002 he was elected as the leader of Fidelitas
the political youth organization of Fidesz
he became press secretary to Péter Szijjártó
who also started his career from Fidelitas Győr
Later Benkő worked for the Győr municipality and in 2007 became a senior advisor to the Fidesz mayor Zsolt Borkai
His position in the local elite was reflected in his appointment to the board of the city handball team
It was at this time that Benkő began to be attacked by the local opposition over a consultancy contract
had contracted to provide consultancy services to the Fidesz-led Győr municipality
however at the time of the contract Benkő was a member of a city council committee
and was also Péter Szijjártó’s campaign manager
Benkő was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office in 2011
according to a document uploaded on Kormány.hu
he became a leading member of Szijjártó’s staff
he also became a player for Dunakeszi Kinizsi
According to a video posted on the team’s YouTube channel
Benkő – nicknamed Sziszi – is one of the founders of the club
Szijjártó also started to play in the team at the same time
Szijjártó was appointed for State Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office
while Szilárd Benkő was appointed Chief of Cabinet
Benkő also accompanied his boss on his professional trips abroad
and a TV report was made about their trip to Vietnam in 2012
Szijjártó talks about the advantages of opening up to the East and his appointment as state secretary
but the cameras also accompany him to the gym
where he and Benkő train together in the red jerseys of the Dunakeszi team
Several people from Dunakeszi Kinizsi and its surroundings have found positions in the Prime Minister’s Office and later in the MFA
the club’s former managing director became a protocol officer at the Prime Minister’s Office and then head of protocol at the MFA
the MFA said in response to HVG’s question about futsal player officials that they never took into account or had any say in what hobby their staff members pursued in their free time
When Szijjártó moved up the ranks again in 2014
replacing Tibor Navracsics as Minister of Foreign Affairs
Benkő remained unchanged in his position as Chief of Cabinet
As Vs.hu’s investigation at the time revealed
Benkő did not have sufficient qualifications to hold the position of Chief of Cabinet
so he officially worked as the coordinator of the Cabinet’s operations
MFA admitted at that time that Benkő did not have the right qualifications for the position
but argued that the law allowed him to be employed under certain conditions
Vs.hu revealed that Benkő’s salary in this status was close to 900 thousand HUF
and that he used a Mercedes SUV as a company car
which’s new version costed more than 17 million HUF
The MFA’s reaction to all this was that the car was not new and had already ran hundreds of thousands of kilometers
Benkő’s departure from the MFA in 2015 did not completely break the link with resources and opportunities offered by the state
Just a few months before his leaving from the MFA
a decision in favor of Benkő’s interests was made at a meeting of the Committee for Urban Management and Finance of the then Fidesz-led 8th District Municipality of Budapest
The municipality put up for sale two properties in a prominent location on Rákóczi Road
which at the time belonged to Zsuzsanna Benkőné Sárvári
and later became the property of Szilárd Benkő
both of them lived in the same house in Fertőd
Direkt36 asked Szilárd Benkő about his relationship with Zsuzsanna Benkőné Sárvári
The municipality asked 38.3 million HUF for the approximately 300 square meter properties
but they were not to be paid immediately: 20 percent was asked for when the contract was signed
and the remaining 30 million HUF was to be collected over the following five years
According to the data sent to Direkt36 by Ingatlan.com
at that time in that part of the district each of the municipal properties could have been worth more than 38 million HUF
One of the properties is an instrument shop now
run by a company formerly also owned by Szilárd Benkő
The company is now owned by a woman with the same surname as Benkő – but the shop employee could not say who owns the shop
and the manager refused to answer Direkt36’s questions
Benkő acquired stakes in a series of companies: not only a musical instrument retailer
and from 2018 he became owner of a construction company
The construction industry was hit hard by the coronavirus in 2020
but Benkő’s business was helped out by the state
Eutek received a large amount of state funding in 2020 as non-repayable grant
This nearly 300 million HUF came from the ministry of Péter Szijjártó
set up a fund called the Competitiveness Increasing Support Program
to provide funds to companies that had been hit by the economic difficulties caused by the pandemic but were prepared to invest in new projects while retaining their employees
it has committed to retaining four jobs and investing a total of 560 million HUF
Eutek received almost the maximum amount of aid available
Among the other winning applicants, there was a company that pledged to keep 286 jobs for a similar amount of aid, and most of the companies applied with a pledge multiple times higher than the commitment of Eutek. All these information are from a 2021 document uploaded to Kormány.hu
but the ministry also released a list of winning applicants in October this year in response to a data request from Átlátszó
The period of the coronavirus did not cause a drop in the company’s revenues
they earned 490 million HUF profit in 2021
the management decided to pay a dividend of 750 million HUF
About half of this could go to Benkő based on his ownership stake
He has been the sole owner of Eutek since the beginning of 2022
Direkt36 has sent a number of questions to the MFA about the support for Eutek and Szilárd Benkő
in which they describe the success of the Competitiveness Increasing Support Program
which they say has helped to save 270,000 jobs and create 12,600 new ones
they did not respond to our specific questions about Szilárd Benkő
the most profitable of Benkő’s companies is not Eutek
which has a turnover of billions and a profit of hundreds of millions of forints
he became a 95 percent owner of Ver-Bau Ltd.
The annual revenue of this company has been around 5 billion HUF in the last years
and in 2021 it increased to 10.8 billion HUF
The company’s revenues are also significantly boosted by public funds
and in recent years – before Benkő acquired the company – they received public procurement contracts worth hundreds of millions of forints
in the framework of a hospital construction project
the State Health Care Centre contracted Ver-Bau for nearly 2 billion HUF
but they also received a parking lot construction contract from the municipality of Kecskemét and an industrial land development contract from the municipality of Kerekegyháza
The company has also won several EU tenders
with almost 100 million HUF awarded in 2020
Direkt36 asked Benkő how much it cost him to acquire a 95 percent stake in Ver-Bau Ltd.
as he did not previously own a company of this size
so it is not clear from what source and how he got it
Benkő declined to respond to this question
The businessman has also recently entered the real estate market
in the summer of 2022 he became owner of a company called BP5 Ingatlan
BP5 is a real estate marketing company with assets of nearly 500 million HUF
The company owns at least two properties – both located in one of the busiest parts of Andrássy Avenue
near the Opera – with mortgages worth hundreds of millions of forints
The real estate company was previously part of the Mellow Mood group
which is owned by Sameer Hamdan and Zuhair Awad
wealthy businessmen with interests in the Hungarian hotel industry
The two Palestinian-Jordanian businessmen were awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary by the Fidesz government in 2012
Their interests also included the Buddha Bar Hotel
which was inaugurated by Viktor Orbán himself in 2012
and the renovated luxury hotel in the Párisi Udvar
which was inaugurated by Péter Szijjártó in 2019
The Mellow Mood group did not respond to our enquiries about the sale of the Andrássy Avenue properties and Szilárd Benkő
Hungary's new Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky took office last month
He is a former Hungarian ambassador to London and a businessman active in gambling
through Hungarian Rail Investment Assets Management
bought half of the shares in Transmashholding Hungary
the Russian-Hungarian consortium that won the bid to manufacture and deliver 1,300 railcars worth €1 billion to Egypt
Russian company Transmash retained the remaining 50 percent stake
The deal was backed by Hungary's and Russia's Eximbank
and the railcars are partially assembled at the formerly state-owned MÁV Dunakeszi repair facility
which was sold by the government in 2020 to Hungary's Transmashholding Invest
Szalay-Bobrovniczky in September 2021 also became the owner of an 80 percent stake in Aero Vodochody
thanks to a €133 million loan from the Hungarian Development Bank
Hungarian Defense Forces announced that it would buy twelve jets manufactured by Aero Vodochody
Media reports indicate that the business he is running is not legally compatible with the position he holds
but Szalay-Bobrovniczky – as he indicated at a parliamentary hearing – considers these investments necessary for "the Hungarian national interest."

which is presumably why he fetched no more than 2,000 guineas when sold at auction as a yearling
a string of 15 wins broken only by a single
and widely seen as their best racehorse since Kincsem
who came to England in the 19th century and won the Goodwood Cup
Overdose will make his British debut in the Temple Stakes at Haydock
If you have any liking for horse racing and more than an ounce of romance in your soul
with the exception of the Prix de l'Abbaye of 2008
a top-class sprint race at Longchamp on Arc day
One of his rivals had been held in her starting stall by a faulty gate
but Overdose was among those who kept running right to the line and there was no way he could take part when the race was rerun a few hours later
In light of his subsequent injury problems
that may have been his big chance to prove his worth
But there could yet be another because his target
is the King's Stand Stakes on day one of Royal Ascot next month
This week, I was one of a handful of journalists who spent time with the horse and his owner, Zoltan Mikoczy, at a stable in Sussex. I wrote about the experience here but I didn't have nearly enough space to explain all the things that make this beast fascinating
Here are five more stories about Hungary's horse
even though every hack is required to use that phrase in the first paragraph of each report about him
Though he's done most of his racing at Kincsem Park
Overdose does not live in the Hungarian capital
He is based at the Alag training centre about 20km from the city in a town called Dunakeszi
Unless we're going to start naming horses after the tracks at which they do well
The original intention was to call him Orient Express but Mikoczy was told that name wasn't available
as Mikoczy could hardly talk about any other subject
but his daughter eventually came up with a winning alternative
You find out a horse's limits when he is beaten but that has only happened once to Overdose and it was the sort of run that you just have to put a line through
He lost his head and the race before the start
things might have been OK if the race had been over five furlongs on a sound surface but he was a spent force by the end of six on soft
Perhaps you think that race exposed his limitations and maybe in the fullness of time it will seem so
the circumstances are easily extenuating enough to refrain from judgment
though Gary Hind did ease him down so that the winning margin was only half a length on his comeback last year
But those races may not have taken much winning because none of them was a Group One (not even an Italian Group One!) and only two were Group Twos
The most he has ever won in a single outing was £35,000
a proper Group Two with Group One winners in the field
He could easily be good enough and I hope he is
but we really have very little clue on the subject
is a country keen for sporting success but chagrin and frustration have been easier to come by
You probably don't remember the 1954 World Cup final
The team had been unbeaten for four years and were facing a side
that they had beaten 8-3 earlier in the tournament
A recent study has suggested that some of the German players were injected with methamphetamines before the game and Hungarians are understandably ready to believe it
Overdose's non-victory in the Prix de l'Abbaye is not quite on the same level but
it was seen as exactly the sort of thing that would happen to a representative of their hard-done-by country
And there are even those who are prepared to suggest that someone tampered with the stall that didn't open
would be the least likely to stop if there was a false start and might burn through his energy
was a hold-up horse whose jockey was able to ease him down quickly upon realising that the first race was not really a race
I can see its attraction for outraged fans of the horse
On YouTube, someone has spliced together the original race, "won" by Overdose, and the eventual rerun won by Marchand D'Or, sans Overdose. You can see the result here
The two winners seem to reach the line at exactly the same moment
A foot problem kept Overdose on the sidelines from April 2009 to July the following year and Mikoczy says there was a point when he really believed he would have to call time on Overdose's career as a racehorse
with the help of a vet and a blacksmith from Amanda Perrett's yard in Sussex
where Overdose was stabled at the beginning of his troubles two years ago
He had arrived with the aim of taking part in the 2009 Temple Stakes
A nail from one of his shoes is said to have caused an infection
Overdose managed to alter the shape of a hoof with the way he responded and adapted to the pain
and it had to be gradually reshaped once the problem had been cleared up
Mikoczy says he is now set on winning a Group One with him
so that the horse can earn his place at a high-profile stud
The owner was so clear in this ambition that I asked him what would have happened if Overdose had actually won the 2008 Abbaye
So the silver lining from that Longchamp debacle is that
we are still able to marvel at this smashing animal and turn up at the races in the hope of seeing something amazing from him
It is a long way from his Hungarian home to his temporary base in Sussex but Overdose
did not make the journey in the equine equivalent of a private jet
He covered almost every yard in an ordinary trailer of the kind that posh parents use to get Portia's pony to the gymkhana
he likes to be able to see the countryside whizzing by
which is possible in a trailer but would not be in the sort of enormous four-horse lorry that most trainers rely upon
use one of those while on the cross-Channel ferry
so he would have some space to stretch his legs
having made overnight stops in Bratislava and Cologne
so the plan was to do the journey in stages and avoid him being cooped up for more than a few hours at a time
One of the things that sends him a bit potty
If his trailer gets caught in traffic and its speed drops below a certain level
he starts to fret and paws at the floor in frustration
apparently gave 60mph as the minimum speed with which Overdose is content
I really hope something was lost in translation at this point because many of the trailers I've seen could not be trusted to retain their structural integrity if asked to keep up such a brisk clip for more than a few seconds
60mph is the upper limit allowed for vehicles towing trailers in this country
it's fun to think of the racehorse with road rage
Mikoczy spends most of his time thinking about Overdose
which is why he has discovered so many quirks in the animal's nature
and I wish all owners and trainers could discuss their horses with such knowledge and enthusiasm
To listen to him was to form dark thoughts about all those people who
finding themselves in the winner's enclosure
offer the waiting press a cursory: "He's a nice horse and he'll win his races
We're very pleased and we'll have a think about where we go next."
I have spent a lot of time this year chewing over the behaviour and habits of Long Run and Frankel
Surely it is not just the very best horses that show signs of having a personality
There is only one Overdose but there are probably plenty of racehorses who resemble him in one way or another
jockeys and owners could be bothered to tell us about them

The Dunakeszi Workshop (Dunakeszi Járműjavító Ltd.) has a Chinese supertrain stationed
and Világgazdaság wanted to know whether that superfast iron horse would carry passengers in Hungary
Experts regularly say that the problem with the slowness of the Hungarian railway system is not caused by the slow trains but by the many slow signs on the outdated Hungarian railway system
it was surprising to see the Chinese CRRC’s double-deck EMU model in a workshop in Dunakeszi
The number of passengers it can carry is more than 1,280
The Chinese CRRC is the world’s largest train manufacturer
Being made of light aluminium and other composite materials, the Chinese DDEMU’s weight is just 10% above the weight of single-deck trains’, Világgazdaság wrote
it has 1.5-meter doors to help passengers get on and off
passengers’ experience includes board services like snack and coffee machines
bike storing zones and places for disabled passengers
there is intelligent Wi-Fi and a real-time passenger information system
CRRC has been supplying the European market with EMU trains for long
they delivered the first to the Austrian Westbahn
a railway company operating trains between Vienna
Westbahn signed the relevant contract to lease four DDEMUs from the CRRC in 2019
The Austrian company got the fourth this summer
the trains have not received the needed licenses yet
Westbahn CEO Thomas Posch said in a March video interview that they ran out of time but highlighted he was sure the DDEMUs would be in service
he added that it would not happen this year
shared the first video of the new superfast Chinese train in Hungary
he could not find out why the train was in Dunakeszi
A Greenpeace report shows that fetotoxic substances in the wastewater near the Samsung battery plant in Göd near Budapest also threaten nearby towns including Dunakeszi
the environment and climate affairs shadow minister of opposition Democratic Coalition said on Sunday
Olivio Kocsis-Cake told an online press conference that toxic water had spilled onto arable land near the plant
the Samsung plant in Göd should have stopped operations a long time ago but “the Orbán government continues to protect the factory with an obvious lie”
The DK politician said that the head of the Prime Minister’s Office attributed at a recent government briefing the factory’s continued operations to postal delivery problems
DK demands that the government should immediately put a halt to the construction of new battery plants and calls for an investigation by independent experts of the operation of existing plants
“We must not allow Far Eastern-owned battery plants that neglect Hungarian laws and regulations to contaminate the water reserves for residents
and make their properties lose in value,” he added
László Szilágyi
the opposition’s mayoral candidate of Göd
said that early this year it was revealed that 88 tonnes of fetotoxic substance had been leaked in the air in two years which “could cause serious problems in the area”
The factory has since received a permit to expand by 43,000 square metres
The Dunakeszi Járműjavító Ltd has new owners
and their goal is to modernise the company and make it the market leader in the Central-European railway industry
Lipa Kirill, the CEO of the Transmashholding Group, which has 50 pc of the Ltd’s shares, told the Hungarian News Agency that they need an investment worth tens of millions of EUR, VG reported
He added that it depends on the contracts what they will produce and how many people they can employ
provided that there is a demand on the market
the number of their employees might rise steeply
The other owner of the Dunakeszi Járműjavító Ltd is the Magyar Vagon Ltd (MA-VAG) led by Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky
who told MTI that the development of the Ltd

He pointed out that the TMH Hungary Ltd would produce 1,300 railway wagons for the Egyptian National Railways (ENR)
and the deal is worth more than 1 billion EUR
He also added that the Dunakeszi plant would make 680 of them
The CEO said that there were a lot of speculations about the TMH saying that they bought the Dunakeszi Járműjavító Ltd only to fulfil their contract with the ENR

told a the press conference that the plant had caused great concerns to locals because potential pollution from the plant raised fears
“The battery plant is taking significant security measures but instead of focusing on operations
they focus on ensuring that no information is leaked from the plant,” he added
He also said that it was a reasonable expectation by locals that taxes paid by the plant should be fully granted to them
Dániel Z Kárpát
told the presser that the plant employing thousands of people had only 200 workers from Göd
The party would like to ensure that initially those jobs get subsidies from Hungarian taxpayers’ money that are filled by Hungarians
a party lawmaker and the head of parliament’s national security committee
said that the security of Hungary and Hungarians was of primary importance and the arrival of guest workers in masses from Asia
He added that the relevant ministers should reveal whether Hungarian secret services were able to screen new arrivals in any form
What’s the point of spending all the resources
including international political good will
if you allow the country to be swamped by unnecessary immigrants anyway?!?!

Player.hu made a list of the most dangerous places in Budapest
It includes abandoned industrial areas with whores
pimps and criminals – the dark side of the capital
In the spring of 2012 Counter Terrorism Center (TEK) carried out the largest action of its history: they searched several apartments with the help of 120 commandos
There is a homeless shelter and a mobile police station in the street
there are a couple of other similar places in the capital
Klinikak (there is a metro station as well)
it functions as an unofficial tolerance zone between Soroksári and Gubacsi Road
During peak hours the place is full of prostitutes
you can easily recognize them from their clothes (or the lack of clothes)
the potential customers roll in front of them at a slow pace
it is not the only place in Budapest with these characteristics: other destinations are Dunakeszi Road and Gyógyszergyári Road in Kőbánya
The official name is: the Main Train Workshop of Istvantelek train cemetery
The industrial area is located 2 train stops away from Nyugati railway station
and the former trains – now out of order – inhabit it for now
If there is someone who still want’s to visit this unpleasant sight
one should contact BudapestScenes which organizes alternative trips in the Hungarian capital
and they are frequently filled with homeless
it is advisable to leave it as soon as possible
It was the public slaughterhouse some time ago
Now only music bands and the R33 club operate here
It is quite depressing to walk down on the death row where animals were herded to the first floor
It is no wonder that people begin drinking in the R33 club
The road leading through Tetenyi plateau is completely different from other places where prostitutes normally work
there are bad roads and burning oil barrels which give light to all the “employees” waiting there
This 250-hectare industrial area is the most important remnant of socialism
25 thousand people worked here in the previous system
Before World War II it was called Weiss Manfred Steel and Metal Works
It is no wonder that is the ideal place for photoshoots and filming
You can visit the place with the guidance of BudapestScenes
abandoned building was the home of the National Psychiatric and Neurological Institute (OPNI) in Lipotmezo
People of Budapest often called it the “yellow house” because of the color of its walls
the institute was closed and several people allegedly were thrown into the street
this is the second-biggest public building of Hungary (the Parliament is the first)
except by musicians and crews shooting videos there
This is another notorious place of Budapest
Like the previously-mentioned Szabadkai Road
You can find the road next to the waste incinerator

Very interesting article; I wander where are the danger and mystery spots are in the more privileged 2nd and 12th Buda districts
Szel Kalman/ former Moszkva Ter comes to mind
there is an interactive map to check the dangerous zones
Just do not go there at night if you value your life
This might sound like I’m overreacting
but just stay as far away from that wretched fucking place as possible
Human traffickers with eyes pierced for vulnerable party-leavers (Liget Club is there) prostitutes and their pimps
basically every archetype who you do not want to meet
When I came face to face with the situation that was there I actually felt sick to my stomach
Definietly one of the worst places in BP security-wise
I want to mention Deak Square corner at Kiraly utca
the city has become ridden with many more drunks
Not a day goes by that I am not acousted at the tram stops for money
Please get more patrols out there to clean up the city
