a student from the Lake Balaton town of Fonyód
received the Best Delegate award at a conference simulating the operation of the United Nations
as reported on the M1 public news television on Sunday
As one of the youngest participants in the event
the graduating student from the Mátyás Király (King Mathias) Secondary School in Fonyód was tasked with representing the United States in the United Nations Security Council
Nagy told M1 that the competitors were given a predetermined topic: the protection of civilians in an armed conflict and the role of youth in matters of peace and security
resulting in a humanitarian crisis affecting civilians
The challenge was to address this situation with humanitarian assistance in accordance with international law
One of the lessons from the event is that reaching a decision and finding practical solutions to the problem requires compromises
He added that the winning proposal will be forwarded to the real United Nations Security Council
Nagy stated that he participated in the competition with great motivation
and it is still hard for him to believe that he succeeded in winning
Nagy Boldizsár nyerte meg a világ legrangosabb
New Yorkban rendezett ENSZ-modell konferenciáját
Ő kapta a “legjobb delegált” kitüntetést a Biztonsági Tanácsban
És ő volt a konferencia egyik legfiatalabb résztvevője
Boldizsár a fonyódi Mátyás Király Gimnázium tanulója
Model UN simulations involve countless students
offering them an educational platform to delve into the principles and operations of the United Nations
Many present-day leaders across various fields
had participated in a Model UN challenge during their student years
Hungarian Conservative is a quarterly magazine on contemporary political

Three bastions on the south shore that pull towards west – in every sense
they are located on the western part of the coast
but there’s also the fact that they are open to innovations that are typical of the western part of Europe
Here we can find the south shore’s serious wine county
wines and champagnes that are renowned not only nationwide but also on an international level
there’re multiple sandy beaches reminding of seashores; we can also find quality ports here
we will stumble upon some decent restaurants as well
Of course the past is still present in the form of holiday homes from the communist era
but they mingle with the signs of innovation
We rounded up the best things to do amid this eclectic atmosphere
but also high winds and reached the ‘Hungarian sea’
In Hungary, the settlements along the Danube are most at risk of flooding, but the Somogy county news portal reports that Cyclone Boris has not spared Lake Balaton either
Extremely strong winds hit Fonyód residents over the weekend
with gusts of up to 130 kilometers per hour measured by Kab Hill instruments
Winds of 105 kilometres were recorded in Siófok and Alsóörs
The cyclone hit the area with extreme wind gusts and also caused the lake’s water level to shift
Experts measured very different water levels in the two parts of the lake
with the southern side 33 centimeters higher than the northern side
While the water level at Siófok was 109 centimeters as measured on Sunday morning
As we wrote earlier, the Hungarian geological site, near Lake Balaton, was recognised among the world’s most significant, details HERE

Nestled near the picturesque shores of Lake Balaton
the Zichy Castle (now Boros Castle) in Fonyód is up for sale
offering a rare opportunity to own a piece of Hungarian history
once the summer residence of Count Béla Zichy and his family
attracting interest from potential buyers seeking a unique property with an extraordinary past
Built in the early 1900s, the Zichy Castle stands as a testament to aristocratic elegance and historical significance. Originally designed as a summer retreat for the Zichy family, it hosted grand gatherings and hunting expeditions, SONLINE writes
its walls have witnessed dramatic transformations—from noble leisure to neglect during Hungary’s communist era
The castle’s story took an unexpected turn when it was repurposed as an office for the local peat mine in the 1980s
Its condition deteriorated until the 1990s when a remarkable family effort restored its original charm
The restoration involved every family member
who contributed to bringing back its hunting lodge character
the castle remains in the family’s ownership but is being sold due to their relocation and lack of time to manage the property
Spanning 665 square meters across three levels
Its expansive grounds include a 16×5-meter swimming pool
and terraces that enhance its regal ambiance
These features make it ideal for various uses—whether as a boutique hotel
the Zichy Castle has served as a popular venue for weddings
While it continues to host occasional events today
the current owners are ready to pass on this historic gem to someone who can unlock its full potential
Priced at HUF 790 million (approximately EUR 2 million)
this property represents more than just real estate—it is an opportunity to own a piece of Hungarian heritage
With its rich history and versatile features
the Zichy Castle offers endless possibilities for those seeking an extraordinary investment or personal retreat
Whether you envision transforming it into a luxury hotel or preserving it as a private residence steeped in history
this castle is waiting for its next chapter—and perhaps its next visionary owner

A disturbing video has emerged showing a vehicle striking a mother and her two children while they were on a pedestrian crossing in Fonyód
a popular vacation spot located on the Southern shores of Lake Balaton
Footage of the accident was posted on the official Facebook page of the Somogy County Police Headquarters
According to Blikk
Two cars approached an intersection from opposite directions at the same time
it appears that the Seat driver became distracted by the Suzuki
Focused on the other vehicle’s movements
the Seat driver failed to notice that a mother with her children intended to cross the street
Neither the pedestrians nor the vehicle had time to react
The driver at fault received a fine and has been banned from driving for eight months
The video has already garnered over 1.7 million views:

Bahart will receive tourists on kids’ boats
Ferries commute every day in every 30 minutes
Many set off on the weekend of May 1 due to the gradual relaxations
and a desire to be outdoors after confinement
HelloVidék toured the southern and northern shores of the Hungarian Sea. They took a trip to look at restaurants and popular tourist attractions
They got in a car on the morning of the first of May and headed for Lake Balaton to explore the opportunities offered by the first hot spring weekend after the opening
with only a few agricultural vehicles disturbing the traffic; but in return
the endless rapeseed fields of Somogy is like honey for the soul
turning onto the main road was already tricky
They thought it would be worth visiting the beach first
After being unable to find any parking in any possible way
they decided to cancel the plan of the walk on the shore of Fonyód
They headed for the Panorama Promenade in hopes of a smaller crowd
as it is located between turn-of-the-century buildings
surrounded by the peace and quiet provided by the immediate vicinity of a national park
and the shores of Lake Balaton are only a 5-6 minute walk away
a “smart home” system is already being built for impressive but expensive homes
the crew of hellovidek.hu returned to the promenade
they decided to climb the Sipos Mountain viewpoint
they found the lookout closed for maintenance
they took the direction of the north shore to have some food with friend at Szigliget
The traffic was still huge and inconvenient
The data of the bicycle traffic count carried out on behalf of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology indicate a turn partly attributable to the pandemic. While previously there was a rapid expansion of recreational and tourist cycling, according to the 2020 surveys
three-quarters more people hopped on bicycles on weekdays
There was a relatively long wait for the food given the crowd
the waiting did not go to the detriment of the quality
and even the puppy was immediately placed in front of a water bowl without any special request
Almost every place they saw along the way worked with a similar number of guests
They ended their day without the year’s best ice cream since the line the would have had to wait out was criminal
