(ANS – Kazincbarcika) – Kazincbarcika is a city in Northern Hungary
where the Salesians are maintaining a parish
where they care for the poorest of the young people
This Salesian house is located closest to the Ukraine-Hungary border
where refugees fleeing the war are continuously arriving to seek shelter
Welcoming refugees has become a part of the daily life of the Salesian House of Kazincbarcika and the dormitory of the Don Bosco School
As the mass of refugees started to arrive from Ukraine
director of the Kazincbarcika Salesian House
proposed to register as a shelter with the competent authorities
the Salesians started to gather supplies and domestic appliances to prepare accommodation for the refugees
they soon furnished the house with 3 washing machines
and 4 microwave ovens and could start to welcome refugees in the first half of April
“We were excited to offer shelter for those in need
because this was something we have not done before
and we knew that it would certainly have its challenges
The Catholic parish undertook the task of providing nourishing warm meals every day
right from the beginning,” stated Fr Geza Nadudvari
Provincial Secretary of Hungarian Salesian Province (UNG)
Five families – women and children – have come to Hungary
who started working in Hungary about a year before the war broke out
The second wave of refugees followed two weeks later: three Ukrainian mothers with two children each
who could receive accommodation in the dormitory of the Don Bosco school
Students have moved to the first floor for the time being
while the second and third floors are reserved for the refugees
many good-willed individuals and organizations have joined to help these refugees: some provide food
helping with administration issues or providing medical support
Most of the refugees welcomed by the Salesians look forward to going back to Ukraine to resume their lives
but those who are not able to go back to their homes – because there is hardly any place to go back to – will have to start over in Hungary
“The Hungarian Salesian Family will continue to offer all the support that it can to help integrate them into our society and provide a welcoming new home,” Fr Nadudvari added
join us in prayer to the Holy Spirit to give consolation to those who suffer so much in this time of tribulation
that we may find a new charity in our hearts towards those who are in need.”

who was subsequently penalised but not relegated for obstructing sprint
"I'm really happy with it," Cavendish said following the stage finish
but we were just a bit eager and a bit too soon.
"We talked and talked about that to rectify it today
It was a completely different finish today
no big boulevard or corners to make it technical
and we executed it exactly how we wanted it
The second stage at the Tour de Hongrie was a 162.1km race from Tokaj to Kazincbarcika
the first at 32km into the race over Erdobenye
and the final climb at the 137km mark over Tardona
A breakaway of four emerged ahead of the first climb
including Siebe Deweirdt (Team Flanders-Baloise)
Zsolt Istlstekker (Epronex-Hungary Cycling Team)
Christian Bagatin (Team MBH Bank Colpack Ballan)
and Martin Voltr (Pierre Baguette Cycling)
The quartet maintained a gap of 2:35 into the second half of the stage as teams Bora-Hansgrohe and Jayco AlUla set the pace at the front of the peloton
But the gap dropped to under two minutes and then under a minute to just 45 seconds as the breakaway raced toward the final ascent over Tardona
Bagatin surged ahead of his breakaway companions on the climb
The Italian still held 55 seconds on the peloton as they swept up the remaining breakaway riders with 20km to go
Bagatin's gap dropped to 20 seconds as the peloton made the gentle descent toward Kazincbarcika and he was caught with 8km to go as the sprinters' teams began organising their lead-out trains
Lidl-Trek and Euskaltel-Euskadi led the peloton into the last two kilometres
But Astana was the dominant team in the last kilometre and with 500 metres to go
bringing Cavendish to the finish with a perfect lead-out to take the victory

Cavendish beats Dylan Groenewegen in stage 2 sprint finish in Kazincbarcika to take his second victory of his final year on the road
The Astana Qazaqstan rider beat Dylan Groenewegen to the line to win stage two in Kazincbarcika
Cavendish was able to rely on a perfect lead out from his teammates and launched his sprint in the final 200 metres to snatch the win ahead of Jayco-AIUla’s Groenewegen and Jon Aberasturi of Euskaltel-Euskadi.
After missing out on the opening day to Bora-Hansgrohe’s Sam Welsford
Cavendish said his teammates had timed their lead out train to perfection.
The eagle-eyed among you will notice that Cavendish crossed the line riding a pair of unbranded handlebars
which we’ve found out were the Vision Metron 5D model
It was the second win of Cavendish’s season after he won a stage earlier this year at Tour Colombia
He now sits five seconds off the overall race lead in Hungary.
The Manxman is expected to retire at the end of the current campaign after one last attempt at breaking the record for the most stage wins at the Tour de France
Cavendish is currently tied on 34 wins with Belgian cycling legend Eddy Merckx.
After taking victory in Colombia earlier this year, Cavendish’s schedule was impacted by a period of sickness which led to him missing Scheldeprijs in early April.
Cavendish pulled out of the UAE Tour in February before going on to ride Tirreno-Adriatico in Italy.
The Manxman missed the time cut on stage five so was forced to quit the Italian stage race
Cavendish then rode Milano-Torino but also abandoned the race after suffering with cold-like symptoms.
The 38-year-old then took part in an amateur race on the Isle of Man as he built back some form
A competitor in the Nick Corkill Memorial Race told Cycling Weekly that Cavendish’s presence was surreal.

I’m really happy with my teammates that they could put me in a good position," the Dutchman said
Stage 4 started in Kazincbarcika for 177km
with three categorised climbs and three intermediate sprints that would traverse one big and two smaller laps to bring the race back to the northern Hungarian town for the finish
Just 20 kilometres had tumbled away when a breakaway of four riders had opened a gap of 1:30: mountains classification leader Aaron Van Poucke (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise)
Toon Vandebosch (Alpecin-Fenix) and Josu Etxeberria (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA)
Van Poucke scooped up all the KOM points on the stage
at the second-category climb in Farkaslyuk and twice on the loops over the category 3 at Tardona
to gain a sizable advantage headed into the final day
The peloton did not let the break gain too much time
and brought them back with 23km to go and set up Team BikeExchange-Jayco for the win
