Tápiószele: Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd
purchased the Ganz factory in Tápiószele and the related assets in a public auction
the company will soon be able to support the activities of the plant with a long history as an owner
The company has been operating the plant as a tenant since September 2020
after liquidation proceedings were initiated in July last year against the former owner of the plant
The Ganz plant in Tápiószele may soon become Hungarian property again
after Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd.
placed a winning bid for the assets of CG Electric Systems Hungary Zrt.
The auction was announced on 27 August by the appointed liquidator
Chief Executive Officer of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd
said it is of great importance that after more than 15 years
the factory buildings of Ganz dating back to the historical past can once again be in Hungarian hands
The plant was owned by the Indian-based Crompton Greaves group from 2006 until 2020
Due to the increasingly difficult economic situation
the fraud case at the parent company and the economic effects of the coronavirus
liquidation proceedings were initiated in July 2020 in connection with CG Electric Systems Hungary Zrt
The company was subsequently declared a strategically important business organization by a government decree
thus providing special protection for the company in bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings
Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd
protected the jobs of more than 200 former employees in the region by restarting production in September 2020 as a tenant of the plant
and then signing new employment contracts with the former employees
The Hungarian-owned company remains committed to providing the Ganz plant with a stable financing and production background of more than 140 years
restoring customer and supplier relationships
and strengthening the Ganz brand domestically and internationally in the medium term
Jan Prins says the company can now pay even more attention to achieving business goals
the plant will strive to boost export activities and to flourish the Ganz brand internationally

Tápiószele: 4040 solar panels are ready for connection at the 2 MVA solar power plant built at Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd’s Tápiószele plant
The panels were installed by Forest-Vill Ltd
which will install an on-site energy storage system
The project will be completed by the end of 2024
Ganz has started to improve the energy efficiency of its transformer factory and turn it into a modern production facility
implemented as part of the Energy Use Optimisation Programme
The planned annual energy production of the system is 2830 MWh
which will cover a part of the site’s annual electricity consumption of 3500-3600 MWh
The manufacturing company is currently able to use around 60% of the electricity generated by the small-scale solar power plant
but the use can be increased by installing drying technologies using natural gas
the electrifying the heating of the production halls and integrating additional electricity consumers
The companies will continue to work together as Forest-Vill will install a hybrid system of lithium-ion and NAS battery energy storage on site
which will be able to operate the two technologies in parallel
combining the high charge/discharge capacity of lithium-ion batteries with the longer lasting capacity of NAS batteries
with preparation and installation to take place by the end of the year
the next major task will be to optimise the power generation
“The Energy Use Optimisation Programme is an important milestone in Ganz’s development
In addition to improving our products and manufacturing
our priority is to optimise the operation of the factory and make it sustainable
we will significantly reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and take a big step towards our goal of zero emissions.” said Gergely Gál
Hungary: Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd
has completed a major step towards sustainability with the commissioning of a 2 MVA solar power plant and a 5.2 MWh hybrid energy storage system at its Tápiószele facility in Hungary
This project is part of the company’s broader energy efficiency initiative
which is set to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 40 %
The new energy storage system combines lithium-ion and NAS battery technologies to optimize energy management
allowing the plant to store solar energy and utilize it more effectively
The solar system is expected to produce 2,830 MWh annually
covering a significant portion of the factory’s electricity needs
which are around 3,500 – 3,600 MWh per year
Ganz is also working towards reducing its reliance on fossil fuels
with plans to cut fossil fuel consumption by 30 % by 2030 and phase it out completely by 2050
emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation
both in its operations and product offerings
The company continues to set industry standards with its energy-efficient solutions and green energy practices
led the installation of the solar and storage systems
marking a significant milestone in Hungary’s energy transition
This development further strengthens Ganz’s role in advancing sustainable energy in industrial manufacturing
has manufactured a 750 kV transformer at its Tápiószele plant
The company won a public procurement contract from MAVIR Ltd
to supply the 366.7 MVA machine for the Szabolcsbáka substation
The transformer will be integrated into a three-phase block with two previously installed transformers to form a system with a total capacity of 1100 MVA
It is expected to be commissioned at the same time as the substation is connected in November 2024
and is the company’s highest voltage transformer since its reorganisation
The Szabolcsbáka substation is the Hungarian terminus of the only 750 kV transmission line in the European Union
where the transformer will be connected as a phase unit to two other transformers of the same type to form a three-phase system with a capacity of 1100 MVA
providing Ukraine with the infrastructure to connect to the European grid
The transformer had to match the electrical characteristics of the other two units and their physical dimensions
temperature rise and noise level measurements
and diagnostic tests on the insulation system
“It was a challenging task to manufacture this transformer
while the manufacturing process also pushed the limits of the physical capacity of our factory in Tápiószele
The 750 kV transformer will be an indispensable part of Hungary’s energy infrastructure and we are proud that it will help power our entire region for decades to come,” said Gergely Gál
has published its first ESG report describing its efforts to operate sustainably and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Together with developing sustainable products and services
Ganz launched its Energy Use Optimisation Programme in 2023
decreasing the company’s dependence on fossil fuels
the company has built a 2 MW solar power plant next to its plant in Tápiószele
will supply renewable electricity to the company’s transformer and rotating machine factories
Ganz can currently use 60% of the electricity generated by the small-scale solar power plant
but the use of the solar park’s energy can be increased by installing natural gas drying technology
electrifying the heating of the production halls and installing additional electricity consumers
The company aims to reduce the use of fossil fuels by 30% by 2030 and to replace them completely by 2050
Another goal is to decrease the amount of waste generated in production
and shorten and make supply chains more sustainable
“We are proud to have produced our first Sustainability Report
which both presents our sustainability achievements to date and sets out our short and long-term goals in this field
None of this would have been possible without our excellent team of experts
who play a key role in enabling Ganz to offer innovative solutions in the field of energy equipment manufacturing that are both sustainable and competitive,” said Jan Prins
