‘Time capsule’ DeLorean uncovered in barn reveals a surprising twist Alex took a sneak peek inside a barn which turned out to be full of hidden gems From a Daimler DE36 Landaulett once owned by the British royal family to a 1967 Mercedes Pullman W100 which was the forerunner of the modern Maybach marque But it was a Mercedes-Benz W111 280 SE that caught Alex’s eye which she had the guys trailer to their workshop where every step of the Mercedes barn find restoration is done in-house the team began cleaning and disassembling the W111 with each part of the car going to individual sections of the workshop to be worked on by specialists What really sets Motor Classic apart is their ability to take each trim piece mold it specifically to the car in preparation for chroming before perfectly fitting it back onto the vehicle all of which is done in-house at the company’s very own plating plant.  as when it comes to a Mercedes barn find restoration of a model such as the 300 SL it takes around 800 hours to prepare the vehicle to be hand-painted Restoring the interior is just as important as the exterior and the upholstery process shows just how much detail goes into it whilst stripping and cleaning the car’s tachometer takes about three days Some of the cars restored by Motor Classic can take as long as 5,000 hours to complete which equates to 208 days or close to seven months is that when the team is unable to source an original car part from the manufacturer they model it in-house and then use a CNC machine to create it After being presented with a milled model of herself Alex then got to see a finished W111 like the one she hand-picked from the barn it had been restored to its former glory and is now worth an incredible $400,000 – and Alex got to take it for a spin A massive thanks to the Motor Classic team for showing us around the workshop and letting us see first-hand how these beauties are restored Adam Gray is an experienced freelance motoring journalist and content creator based in the United Kingdom Using his media accreditation with manufacturers’ press offices Adam test drives the latest cars and attends new vehicle press launches producing written reviews and news pieces for a variety of lifestyle and business publications Adam applies his journalistic skills penning social-first content around current news and trends When he’s not behind the wheel of the latest car or writing up another viral story Adam can be found at his local rink playing ice hockey or at the Riverside Stadium supporting his beloved Middlesbrough FC Bridgestone has inaugurated the newly expanded warehouse at its tyre production plant in Tatabánya, Hungary. this is how we can progress The token of continuous development is safety said Guy Lecocq when explaining the challenges of year 2014 Growth is inconceivable without the "large number of product launches and optimisation," he added He said that they must strive for the lowest possible prices Europe-wide and one of the best examples for that is the Tatabánya plant As one of the keys of the future Emmanuelle Grandin mentioned AGC's impeccable quality performance and it is also important to know that quality is always before delivery Future customer complaints can be prevented by cooperation and paying attention to others "Our strength lies in people," said Thierry Devliegher AGC's European Automotive Division currently has 5,715 employees The Tatabánya plant is the third largest after the Czech and Italian factories which will be expanded to 787 thanks to a new production hall Financial Director Frederic Gillot reported on AGC Europe's financial situation and stressed the importance of increasing mid-term profitableness emphasised the importance of safety and being environment-friendly He added that the Tatabánya glass factory is the eighth biggest consumer of electricity provider E.On so the factory's furnaces must operate more efficiently and with less idle time He said they must also reduce the number of unplanned stoppages Their aim is to become the best within the AGC Group This requires excellent team-work and the cooperation of the different departments and employees A good example for the latter is the fact that last year 387 so-called innowiz suggestions were received The best suggestions are awarded each month Szilveszter and Marcell Péntek are brothers Szilveszter is the CEO of SCS Stahlschmidt Cable Systems Kft while Marcel is the Director of Tatabányai Rugógyár Kft Their mother was an engineer and their father was a technician They learnt from them that it is good to create Has your family contributed to the fact that you both work in a technological field?Marcell: Our mother was an engineer and our father was a technician We learnt from them how nice it is to create something We wanted to carry on the love towards the “smell of the workshop” the attraction to construction and production I believe we have successfully managed that.Szilveszter: It is clearly the creation of value that has been in the centre of our thinking Professionalism is ahead of financial thinking in the eyes of both of us but it’s not excluded of course.Tell me about your studies Wasn’t there a moment when you were told that something different would suit you better?Sz: I attended the Bánki Donát Vocational Secondary School in Tatabánya It means that I worked in Austria as a locksmith and ironsmith for a few years which was renamed SCS Stahlschmidt two years ago there were moments when I wanted something different I think it was worth holding on.M: I attended ELTE where I received my degree as an English teacher and then I earned degrees in the field of MBA management and law I accompanied my father to several of his business trips through which I got closer to the industry We managed to bring modern approach into the life of the family enterprise An enterprise is one of the most complex challenges: you need to manage people numbers and legal matters at practically the same time I wouldn’t choose only one of the above. You are the leaders of two different companies I think it is also not very common that we live in the same house Has it always been a success story with your companies?Sz: Last year was my 18th year at the company solid years; significant downfalls only occurred at the time of the crisis we’ve been doing well.M: The markets crashed at the time of the change of regime but we managed to recover quickly thanks to Magyar Suzuki Zrt and this is not yet over by any means.Who did you ask for advice at the time of the crisis Did you consult each other?Besides that we kept our eyes on news regarding the industry we asked for the opinion of our friends too and we subordinated a lot of things to that We forced back costs and we looked for new partners.M: Fortunately the situation at Tatabányai Rugógyár wasn’t that bad We had to reduce the staff by 20 people but we managed to have an income similar to the previous period with this reduced staff too thanks to efficiency-increasing steps.Sz: We halved the number of staff from 220 to 110 now there are 350 people working at the company A restart or an expansion is just as difficult as a cut down though the problems are somewhat more pleasant. How would you describe your attitude in the business life: are you safe players or do you risk a lot?Sz: I’m conservative I decide carefully and I don’t regret my steps.M: We learned from our parents to pace gradually we agree that staying in one place means stepping back We are cautious gamblers in our private lives too...How important is social responsibility for you Who have you helped recently and why?Sz: As the number of my employees is growing I feel that I should help other people as much as possible We try to as much as our opportunities allow us Our parents have started supporting the Komárom-Esztergom Megyei Tehetséggondozó és Léleksegítő Alapítvány (a Foundation promoting the talented and the troubled) I’ve been the president of the Foundation since January 2012 and we’ve started to put it on its feet again.M: We receive many requests we thought that we should support a different organisation every month We think that it is important that money goes where it is needed we try to support those in need personally I will never forget the eyes of a student to whom we’ve given a life insurance policy. How would you describe your previous year and what are your expectations for the end of 2012?Sz: Record-breaking income but I have to add that all these represented a serious challenge and I’d like to see the same results at the end of this year too I believe that the so-called premium brands have already recovered from the crisis.M: Last year was slightly weaker from the aspect of turnover due to the fact that we are strongly connected to Suzuki I’m optimistic as we have been included in more and more projects in connection with Western European car companies (VW which compensate our deficits. What do you think will the automotive industry in Hungary become a victim of the crisis?M: Many suppliers are connected to Suzuki they are having a difficult time.Sz: Western European companies and their subsidiaries have recovered from the crisis but I’ll ask nonetheless: have you thought about where you and your companies will be in 2020?Sz: We need to make a lot of effort to make human industry even more reliable The conditions include automation and the development of technology Our aim is to become much more efficient with our current staff to have better quality indices and to increase value creation in 8 years time We would like to become tier 1 suppliers of Audi and Daimler We strive for having more part in the design logistical and development processes.M: We will continue our developments with the procurement of modern CNC machines we need to be able to guess what our customers are thinking We are doing our best.Have you thought about working abroad for a few months or years?Sz: I’ve already worked abroad I recommend it to everybody in their youth as they could obtain decades of experience in a short time I’d like to add one of my father’s ideas: you don’t necessarily need to get to know the Western world; it’s worth studying how those who are doing worse than us live.M: I wouldn’t go now as a manager I would send the youth to work abroad for a few years Learning the ways of others and to become familiar with a different approach is essential utopian thoughts about the Western world are not uncommon it soon becomes clear that things are not that great there either.Szilveszter PéntekHe was born in 1970 in Tatabánya He graduated at Bánki Donát Vocational Secondary School he has worked at Bowden Kft (SCS Stahlschmidt since 2010) since 1993.Marcell PéntekHe was born in 1973 in Tatabánya He graduated at ELTE’s Faculty of Humanities MBA management in English and later in Law at ELTE’s Faculty of Law he has been the CEO of Tatabányai Rugógyártó Kft Chinese construction and agricultural machine maker Zoomlion is investing EUR 100m in Tatabánya (W Hungary) to establish a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) manufacturing plant Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade State Secretary Levente Magyar announced on Friday Magyar said the investment project would be one of the biggest of the year He noted that the company already has bases in Germany and Italy and the Hungarian government is committed to support the company’s further expansion efforts in the country Magyar noted that Chinese investments to Hungary have reached HUF 5,500bn between 2014 and 2024, accounting for 44pc of all of China’s investments in Europe. restoration of a legendary old Mercedes model The town of Tatabánya, seat of Komárom-Esztergom County, is home to a very special workshop where old cars, especially Mercedes, are restored with world-class precision and sophistication, Totalcar writes Several professionals in the workshop have no less than decades of experience in rehabilitating old cars The restoration of one of the Mercedes models was followed by Supercar Blondie who also shared some interesting facts about the processes happening in the workshop She made a 12-minute long video about the revamp starting from the very beginning where she steps into a – seemingly – abandoned barn and from the old and run-down Mercedes cars there The iconic classic was then taken by trailer to Motor Classic’s astounding workshop in Tatabánya we can follow a workshop visit where she takes us through pretty much every step of the process an interesting feature of the Motor Classic workshop in Tatabánya is that they are able to carry out almost every step of the restoration process in-house employing specialists with decades of experience They spend hundreds of hours making authentic upholstery and they also don’t take polishing lightly they can reconstruct it with serious metalworking machines What can be salvaged is restored with amazing precision to look as if it just came out of the factory Even the car in question turns out to be something like that by the end of the video Supercar Blondie takes the finished W111 for a drive The automobile is still a great-looking car and thanks to the restoration by the professionals her Facebook page was the fastest-growing auto page in 2018 in the world Supercar Blondie’s social media presence allows automotive brands like Bugatti and Ferrari to advertise their products through her Hirschi states that she provides “insight into the supercar culture and what it’s like to drive these incredible cars in a light fun way.” Being one of the few women in supercar culture she also opens up the demographic for these vehicles Motor Classic “believes in the power of expertise and commitment and that the values of the past can be preserved by education in technology and building a community of professionals,” their official website states “Because we handle every aspect of the process ourselves starting from chrome plating and painting to assembly and
