2024 Australian firm NYBlue secures over one million carats of blue zircon
launches RWA token Press Release COINTELEGRAPH IN YOUR SOCIAL FEED
Brisbane, Australia, August 7, 2024, Chainwire – Australian gemstone company NYBlue Pty Ltd has emerged as a key player working to redefine the global gemstone market
The company's strategic venture involves a plan to secure control over the world’s blue zircon supply
a move that holds the potential to reshape the value dynamics of the global gemstone market
NYBlue’s primary strategy is to systematically increase its current holdings
continue acquiring all available Cambodian blue zircons
and potentially influence the future value of these precious stones
Earlier today company representatives were interviewed on CryptoBanters' Town Hall podcast
to announce the launch of their RWA token pre-sale which has garnered considerable interest from the crypto community since being announced earlier this year
NYBlue majority shareholder, Mitch Brownlie has stated:
"We believe that Cambodian blue zircon deserves recognition as one of the most extraordinary
underappreciated and undervalued gemstones on the market."
NYBlue draws inspiration from the historical trajectory of the tanzanite market, where prices experienced a tenfold increase over three years. The company anticipates a similar trajectory for zircons
aligning its strategy with past successes to project a potential surge in value
NYBlue, has previously announced its plan to launch its gemstone-backed cryptocurrency codenamed ZIRC where each token is fully backed by and redeemable for a 1-carat blue zircon gemstone
This approach allows consumers to benefit from the rise of blue zircon without the risks of volatility associated with traditional cryptocurrencies
Owners of Zirc tokens will have the option to redeem their cryptocurrency for gemstones at any time
arbitrage-enforced peg between the two assets
NYBlue aims to acquire the majority of globally available gem-quality blue zircons
effectively positioning itself as a dominant force in the market
This approach is designed to exert influence over the supply chain
creating a ripple effect on the market value of blue zircons across the industry
NYBlue's strategic initiative is not a short-term play; it is an ambitious endgame to secure a controlling stake in the multi-billion-dollar gemstone market
With a collection of gemstones valued at around $300m
NYBlue aspires to redefine the gemstone narrative on a global scale
This venture positions the company as a significant player
with the potential to impact the industry's landscape for years to come
In their quest for dominance in the gemstone market
NYBlue has announced a new and highly disruptive initiative; the launch of a blockchain-backed cryptocurrency named ZIRC
with each unit of the blockchain being fully backed by; and redeemable for a 1 carat blue zircon gemstone
This innovative approach allows individuals to participate in the potential rally of blue zircon values
by offering exposure to the underlying commodity without the inherent risks associated with traditional highly volatile cryptocurrencies
Buyers have the option to redeem their ZIRC tokens for actual gemstones at any time
effectively eliminating the possibility of the token's value dropping below the market price of the gemstone itself
providing consumers with a tangible and secure asset
This strategic integration of blockchain technology not only enhances transparency and security but also democratises access to the exclusive world of the international gemstone trade
NYBlue's PreSale is now live on Zir.co.nz
Zirc offers a cryptocurrency fully backed by blue zircon gemstones
Each ZIRC token is redeemable for a 1-carat blue zircon
The platform aims to integrate blockchain technology to enhance transparency and security
making it accessible for individuals to participate in the gemstone market without the risks associated with traditional cryptocurrencies
Zirc's approach democratizes access to blue zircons and offers a unique investment opportunity backed by real-world assets

I'm not sure if there’s anything more frustrating than attempting to perform meticulous hygiene instrumentation on a patient while battling an obstructed view
and are conscious of our patient and operator positions to optimize our visualization
but none of those things matter if one small thing is below standard: our mouth mirror
I had the unfortunate experience of using mirrors that were badly scratched
and dim on the reflective surface with prophy paste and disclosing solution caked around the edges
I always made sure to keep replacement heads close to my working area so that I could change out my mirror when I couldn’t stand the hazy view any longer
my hygiene mentor gave me some Zirc mirrors
and they have become the exam tool I didn’t know I needed
Zirc’s Crystal HD mirrors have several characteristics that set them apart from the ordinary
the Crystal HD mirror is made with multiple layers of metal oxides that provide a much higher reflective value
This technology enables the mirror to illuminate your visual field in a way that other mirrors simply cannot
rhodium mirrors remind me of the view I get when I look out my window on a foggy
sunny display I get when I use my Crystal HD mirror
Another feature I like about the Crystal HD mirror is how easy it is to keep clean while I’m using it intraorally
once I notice too much debris or saliva on its reflective face
and thoroughly rub it clean before I can continue
I’ve noticed that a simple swipe with my gloved thumb removes any accumulation on the Crystal HD mirror without leaving streaks or smudges
It’s a small time-saver that makes me that much more efficient
The face of the mirror is also perfectly flush around the edges
so I never have to worry about debris accumulating with continued use
The last thing I’d like to spotlight with the Crystal HD mirror is its resin casing
When comparing it to most mirrors with stainless steel components
the resin material provides a few advantages for both patients and clinicians
Aside from its lightweight feel and easy-to-grip handle
I don’t have to worry about patient injury if their teeth happen to contact the resin during examination
and there is no chance of galvanic shock when using around metal restorations
I have come to love and expect the quality
and brilliance of Zirc’s Crystal HD mirror and know that my assessment and instrumentation has improved with enhanced visualization
This product has become something I simply must have when I’m providing clinical care
and I would recommend it to any clinician who is looking for the best tools to have in their hygiene armamentarium
May your mirror—and your future—be clear and bright

AXOR presents three bathroom concepts that are not merely places of function
but destinations in themselves — sanctuaries of style
A common and frustrating schedule disruptor for many dental practices is a side book endodontic emergency
I go through the steps of identifying the tooth or teeth and then my team hauls out the equipment to treat the issue
this is not much of an issue as my team knows what equipment and instruments I need
my gripe with these emergencies is that it takes an inordinately long time to locate and set up the equipment necessary to perform my procedures (figures 1 and 2)
placing all those instruments and materials back after treatment is time-consuming
I used Zirc Dental Products to help deal with my grievance regarding instrument organization and accessibility
Zirc has developed a color-coded organization system for almost every dental instrument and material to help organize an office
Starting as small as bur blocks and color rubber bands that most of us are familiar with
Zirc uses their system to gain valuable seconds to systemize and create efficiencies that we can build into our office
we rely on efficiency to foster an environment that’s perceived positively by a critical and consumerist patient base
I’ve had patients comment on the speed at which my team and I were able to set up and finish the procedure to address their pain
I believe that Zirc’s organizational products help me reach the efficiency that I need in my day-to-day practice
Finding a workhorse endodontic file system
Although I’ve only used Zirc’s organization system
to systemize my endodontic instruments and materials
I would eventually like my office to adopt the full system
The Color Method relies on a series of tubs
and drawer organizers to take the messy array that is a dental office and keep all the instruments and materials at your fingertips
There is variability on how The Color Method can work for your office
It can be as simple as a procedure-specific setup
or it can be standardized for all procedures or even to specific clinicians
This allows an office with multiple or single providers to have an almost unlimited ability to organize and systemize their instruments and materials
The benefits of systemizing your office are multifaceted
Many dental industry business gurus agree that a systemized office is a productive office
Why shouldn’t a system regarding instruments work the same way
I can tell my team to grab my endodontic instruments and have everything set up in less than five minutes
This is a shorter amount of time than it takes a patient to become numb for the procedure
In the future that could mean grabbing an operative
When it comes time to turn over the operatory for the next patient
The instruments are placed into their specific cassettes and run through the ultrasonic and right into the autoclave to be sterilized
They then return to their designated area in our office to be used by any clinician who needs it for the next endodontic procedure
Along the way, I’m sure that you’ll find, just as I have, that organization is the simplest method to becoming efficient and predictable in our clinical lives. I encourage those of you wanting to solve your office organization needs to look into what Zirc has to offer
I’m certain you’ll find some benefit from their products

graduated magna cum laude from the Boston University School of Dentistry
He completed a general practice residency at the Manhattan Veteran Affairs Hospital
where he provided interspecialty comprehensive prosthetic and surgical treatment to medically complex patients
When he is not treating patients in northern New Jersey
he enjoys lecturing about dental materials and products
It's always exciting to try new products that are fun or make the clinical day easier
and it's a big bonus when something new works better than we ever imagined
The icing on the cake is getting an opportunity to work with innovative products that are made in the United States
I periodically have the opportunity to visit factories
It is humbling to see how much innovation goes into making products that make our workday better and gratifying to see how much pride workers take in creating things that many times we take for granted
I was able to schedule a site visit to Zirc
The urban sprawl quickly changed to rolling hills full of farms preparing for spring planting
After motoring down a mix of paved county roads and dirt stretches
There was a small sign perched on a pole featuring the Zirc logo and the tagline
Zirc is probably not a household name in your dental world
but without a doubt your dental hygiene practice has been using their concepts and products through the years
While this shift was aimed at reducing workplace stress
professionals tended to work longer hours with fewer breaks
dentists started working regularly with assistants
who had little familiarity with specific dental procedures and the instruments and products used for each
observed high employee turnover and stressed dentists and employees
If assistants did not know the tools or materials used for each procedure
their dentist employers would quickly lose patience and fire them
Always focused on efficiency and organization
Campion initially developed the tub-and-tray concept
All the tools for a particular procedure would be preassembled on a tray or in a cassette and a tub of the same color would contain all of the corresponding supplies and materials
color-coding and organizing by procedure helped dental assistants work more effectively
Campion's ideas grew to include banding instruments with color-coded rings to signify a procedure at a glance or to distinguish instruments between clinicians (for example
in offices where each hygienist has his or her own sets)
implemented the color-coded cassettes in her dental office
"It's so much easier to set up and train people when each procedure has its own color
Zirc cassettes are so much lighter than metal and very durable."
-------------------------------------------------
Zirc still continues to produce innovative
and durable products that can have an impact on how we deliver care and how we feel at the end of the day
While the bulk of their business continues to be the everyday workhorses such as trays
the company has four unique products that are particularly relevant to clinical practice today
The Crystal HD Mirror is a hands-down favorite among dental hygienists
The mirror lens is made with 75 layers of three different oxides
a unique technology that produces a brighter
Clearer images reduce visual fatigue and make using indirect vision a much more appealing option
A side-by-side comparison is all you need to realize how much easier it is to see clinically; the images produced by a traditional rhodium mirror are reminiscent of looking through a dirty windshield on a car
Clinicians who adopt this technology will not go back to a standard mirror
I now realize I used to work in the dark." Joan Kenney Fitzgerald
who is based in New Hampshire and is the creator of Oral Healthcare @ Home
loves the reflective quality when she works with special needs and homebound patients
got hooked on the double-sided Crystal mirrors years ago: "Dental hygiene students from Hawkeye Community College rotate through our Manchester
They are amazed by the amount of light bouncing off both sides
the Crystal mirrors make visibility a snap!" California-based Renee Marchant
"The light reflection is beyond compare and it makes our jobs easier
Even with high-resolution loupes and a headlight
I would never go back to rhodium mirrors."
Dental hygiene practice has changed significantly over the years
Power-driven scalers are now part of routine care
Newer offices have generous counter space and efficient storage cabinets so equipment placement is often easier
but many older treatment rooms are design nightmares
Clinicians are frequently expected to work with power scalers in hard-to-reach locations that force them to bend
The end result is a clinician who is bent like a pretzel
Zirc's E-Z Access Shelf is an easy-to-install
cost-effective solution that creates more shelf space
The E-Z Access Shelf is 12x20 inches and can hold up to 18 pounds
accommodating the size and weight of every power scaler
The shelf can be bolted to a wall or attached to the light pole via a large screw bolt
Extension arms are available to bring the tray closer to the clinical workstation
Optional items such as a saliva ejector holder or an air-water syringe support can also be added to customize the basic shelf to specific end-user needs
Mirror Magic was introduced this year to help clean mirror surfaces and eliminate surface fogging
Attach a small pad to the back of the glove on your dominant hand
and wipe your mirror across the surface as needed to keep the mirror clean and fog free
of Connecticut uses Crystal HD mirrors and finds it "so much easier to swipe my mirror on the Mirror Magic pad than dipping the mirror in a cup of mouthwash that is sitting farther away."
Thirsty One-Step facilitates intraoral procedures and is a single-use
continuous suction/isolation device that also serves as a mouth prop
Imagine how much easier it would be to place a sealant with Mr
Patients are also more comfortable during procedures that require efficient fluid management such as a session involving extensive ultrasonic scaling
Thirsty comes in both pediatric and adult sizes and can be custom-trimmed to tailor to individual needs
The facility is full of small and large machines that make resin dental products
Zirc has acquired millions of dollars' worth of machines
The company purchases both new and used equipment regularly to improve both production quality and efficiency
New machines can cost well over $120,000 each
while used equipment can often be purchased for as little as $20,000 per unit
By continuously investing in new and better equipment
focusing on bringing quality products to the market
Ninety-nine percent of Zirc products are made at the Buffalo
It translates into a nimble company that can create products in an efficient manner according to customer demands
When production demands for a particular product go up
reducing boredom and increasing efficiency
so most equipment can be repaired at a moment's notice; a small machine or part can even be manufactured on site
But perhaps the most amazing thing is Zirc's incorporation of a 3D printer
a machine that creates an actual model from a computer-assisted design (CAD) in a matter of minutes
I've been hearing about these devices for a couple of years
The 3D printer prototype on the left is compared to the final Mr
Manufacturers used to rely on molds to create a design
Traditional molds typically cost $15,000 to $40,000 to make
Now companies can check out initial designs using a 3D printer
the Zirc design engineer handed me a "printed" prototype of the Mr
the engineers were able to create both a pediatric and adult version
3D printing will revolutionize the manufacturing world and help keep costs down
but different resins are appropriate for different tasks
Big drums of colored resin beads line an entire wall in the factory
There are very precise formulas for mixing specific colors
It is a fine art to constantly produce products that are the same exact shade
can withstand the rigors of sterilization and chemical disinfection
and maintain color stability and structural integrity over repeated use
Giant vacuums suck raw materials into one side of the big machine; the finished component drops out on the other side
Zirc is working on new color palettes that will include more contemporary shades
As I walked through the immaculate factory
I was constantly reminded how we need to work with excellent products that reduce workplace stress and allow us to keep our focus on treating patients
Zirc's goal is to create simple solutions that make a difference
Everything about the Zirc factory is well organized
from the huge bins of colored resin granules to the "on-time delivery" warehouse
but everyone was busy doing his or her job
There were little signs throughout the plant that focused on creating excellence and solid customer relationships
It embodies many aspects of a well-run family dental practice where employees are happy and stay for years for all the right reasons - to serve patients with outstanding dentistry
it was a thrill to see how the products were actually made and to observe the culture of this 47-year-old Midwestern company that has quietly gained international status
of Minnesota actually started her working career at Zirc at age 10
Jim Campion hired Stacie and her buddies to paint little eyes on Zircies on Saturday mornings
colored rubber animals used as a give-away item
but she made more money than babysitting and had fun with her friends
Stacie chose a career in dentistry and saw the usefulness of the tray-and-tub systems
and actually toured the newest facility a couple of months ago
Nicolle Campion's 10-year-old daughter Brenna has become interested in working at the company during her summer break
Brenna enjoys spending time doing simple tasks like applying labels to sample packages
She just convinced her mom to let her work again this summer
Brenna is a diligent worker and observes regular employee time schedules during her half-day shifts
Obviously this young lady has learned many life lessons from the adults in her life
first started using Zirc's color-coding system as a dental assistant many decades ago
"Color-coding made my life as a dental assistant and hygienist much easier
but so helpful to all - silent communication." Perhaps the funniest story of all came from Pat
When Pat was on her way to the Phoenix Airport a while ago
the driver asked why she was going to California
"I'm headed to the California Dental Meeting to present infection control seminars," to which the driver responded
the owner of Zirc." Once again we see that the dental world is a small one
What a treat to be able to give you a little glimpse into what it takes to make great all-American products that allow us to provide higher quality clinical care to our patients with less stress to our bodies and minds
has now passed the day-in and day-out operations to his children
Nicolle Campion came to Zirc and today heads up sales and marketing
Her brother Jon oversees financial matters; her sister Ashley
works in ISO management and quality systems
recently joined the team and manages professional relations with academic institutions and speakers
The employee turnover is low and many have been with Zirc for decades
While some companies do not allow married couples to work together
Zirc is focused on employees who share the company values
so spouses working side by side is not an issue
There are even three people from one outside family on the Zirc payroll
One woman started working in assembly two decades ago
and now her husband performs all the maintenance on the manufacturing machines; and their son manages the production facility
Among the Zirc "family traditions" is a bulletin board to name the parents or grandparents of any new family additions
Everyone in the company gets together regularly for lunches
and other outdoor events like picnics with games and contests
and an annual offsite party every summer that could be a boating party on a nearby lake or a trip to a Minnesota Twins baseball game

Deborah Chow explained when the show went through a whole lot of ammunition:
There was a moment I think in Day 2 or Day 3 we’d shot so many zirc hits and done so many explosions that we started to run out
it was getting the point we were trying to preserve them because we couldn’t get anymore at that point because of the licenses on ammunition
We shot off I think over 7,000 rounds of zirc hits alone in those days
the Mandalorian shot more than 7000 rounds of zirc
which are flash bangs that mimic bullets for film and television
Mando did seem to go from one dangerous situation straight into another
so it's no wonder his show was going through so much ammo
and Deborah Chow's comments reveal that even being part of Star Wars doesn't mean projects don't have to abide by licenses on ammunition
Considering that The Mandalorian's battle sequences were as intense by the end of the Season 1 finale as they were from the moment Mando and IG-11 made their stand to claim their quarry
which -- unbeknownst to them at the time -- was the adorable little 50-year-old child who would come to be known across pop culture as "Baby Yoda."
Mando ended up in plenty of dangerous situations that weren't directly connected to bad guys hunting Baby Yoda
so those bigger action sequences could involve pretty much anything

a pioneer in the long-evolving field of circadian lighting
might cease to exist as a corporate entity and brand following its recent acquisition by a California firm
although its technology looks set to carry on and its ardent CEO will remain heavily involved
it was not clear whether Los Angeles–based Korrus intended to operate Circadian as a company
The novel job title that it gave Moore-Ede hinted that he would no longer be Circadian CEO
Korrus also did not announce a new head to the operations
an omission that suggested it might break up the Circadian corporate structure
LEDs subsequently asked both Korrus public relations and Moore-Ede via email to clarify whether Circadian would stay intact
“You can think of Korrus as a software-defined technology platform that enables a vast ecosystem of products
each capable of dynamically delivering the right light at the right time
for any number of use cases,” Moore-Ede replied
It does not take an advanced degree to realize that the word “yes” is missing from Moore-Ede’s response
he is responsible for mixing and matching products within the Korrus stable to help facilitate the same mission
Korrus describes itself as a “human light interaction” company. Its brand and product names include Ecosense, Soraa
and other products featuring varying levels of spectral and intensity control
Scuva offers ultraviolet products for sanitation purposes
The Circadian brand itself may or may not continue
Circadian ZircLight marketed its products as Circadian Light
“Korrus will decide whether and how to use the brand ‘Circadian Light,’” Moore-Ede said
LEDs has not yet heard back directly from others at Korrus
What will certainly continue is Moore-Ede’s zeal for lighting tuned to enhance human wellbeing and avoid diseases associated with certain light frequencies applied at the wrong time
“Korrus is focused on opportunities at the intersection of light and human wellbeing,” Moore-Ede said
“Products integrated with Korrus technology that specifically support circadian health and entrainment are an integral part of that ecosystem
for healthier artificial light continues to grow
I’m thrilled to now join the ranks at Korrus
an organization that is resourced and committed to fueling that growth by raising awareness for the whole concept of human light interaction (HLI)
I am very much in alignment with the Korrus mission and am delighted to be contributing my life’s work to this cause.”
Moore-Ede, who was at Harvard from 1975 through 1998, has contributed considerable research on light’s effects on human health
he described the current “pivotal moment in the history of light as we harness the power of digital light to optimize health
and human performance,” and noted that “it is now possible to spectrally engineer light to reduce the risk of numerous diseases caused by circadian disruption
While Korrus acquired Circadian’s lighting assets
it did not pick up the portion of Circadian that was marketing eyewear designed to block blue spectra
The group now operates as a separate entity
The Korrus acquisition included Circadian’s agreement to supply and license products and technology to Acuity Brands
The Circadian portfolio that is now part of Korrus includes a violet LED emitter that replaces blue and thus avoids any harmful blue effects
Moore-Ede did not reveal the source of the chips

Well travelled: these zircon crystals took a 2300-kilometre trip
A blast from the past? The east coast of Australia was once lined by volcanoes that were so explosive they could shoot sand-sized particles 2300 kilometres – all the way across to the west coast
The volcanic activity occurred 100 million years ago
at a time when New Zealand began tearing away from Australia’s eastern edge
the only evidence of the scale of these eruptions were the 20-kilometre-wide dormant craters and the solidified lava flows left behind
But now, Milo Barham at Curtin University in Western Australia and his colleagues have found that these eastern Australian volcanoes flung material to the other side of the country
The researchers were drilling beneath the Nullarbor plain in remote Western Australia when they discovered sand-sized zircon crystals that did not match any of the region’s typical rock compositions
the crystals matched volcanic rock in the Whitsundays area on the country’s north-east coast in both age and geochemical make-up
“We didn’t find anything else from the east coast – just these very distinctive grains,” says Barham
we thought there might be some volcanism in Western Australia
Two clues ruled out the possibility that river systems had carried the zircon crystals across the country: they were so well preserved and fossils in the rocks indicated that the crystals were of an identical age
The finding points to the sheer force of the east coast volcanoes
The eruptions would have been tens to hundreds of times more powerful than any documented in human history
An equivalent eruption today would be heard in the west coast city of Perth
Tremendous volcanic activity was happening all around the world 100 millions of years ago due to the disintegration of the supercontinent Gondwana, says Scott Bryan at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane
Modern volcanoes can spew fine particles of ash that are carried by winds over large distances, as happened in 2010 when Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano released an ash plume that grounded flights across Europe
But they lack the power to hurl larger particles thousands of kilometres
The biggest known super-eruption occurred from Toba volcano in Indonesia 75,000 years ago
This propelled sand-sized particles over a 2700-kilometre radius
Barham’s work hints that Australia’s east coast volcanoes may have been in a similar league
“It reinforces the potential scale of these eruptions.”

Zirc was destroyed during the Turkish occupation
800 years-old Romanesque abbey in the garden of ruins
The Cistercian order redeemed its medieval lands at the beginning of the 18th century
and let those Roman Catholic families settle down here that accepted perpetual serfdom
The Baroque church and the classicist monastery were both built around this time
After the Jesuit order was dissolved at the end of the 1700s
their now orphaned high schools were taken over by the Cistercians
The estates of the Cistercian Abbey of Zirc
and the totalitarian communist dictatorship disbanded the Cistercians
The more fortunate ones managed to immigrate to America
but the rest faced internment camps or imprisonment
The Congregation of Zirc became an institution recognized by the state once again following the end of communism in Hungary
It’s good to keep an eye on the website of the abbey, as they host plenty of cultural events. To check out the abbey’s library sounds like just another program at first
but you’ll be amazed as soon as you take one step on the lacquered wood flooring of the book-filled room
Located on the second floor of the building
the library has a unique collection of 65 thousand books
the library owns 70 items of incunabula originating from the 1450s and the 1500s
the period that was the golden age of printing.
The foundation of the exceptional heritage was laid by the monks of Heinrichau
who rebuilt Zirc and the abbey in the 18th century
Theology is the theme of a significant part of the collection
but there are books and documents of other disciplines in this room that looks just like it belongs to a Dan Brown novel full of riddles and mystery
The other important sight of the abbey is the 18-hectares Cistercian Arboretum of Zirc
with the flora looking its best all year long
It has two entrances: one way to get in is from the direction of the town
through Damjanich Street right next to the lake
or from the ornamental garden of the abbey
Groups of at least 25 people can get a professional guide for an extra fee if they make an appointment in advance
Spring is the time to visit to see the thousand colors of ornamentals blooming on the shore of the fishpond; summer is all about fragrant lindens and all the shades of green; the colorful leaves are the main attraction during fall; while the frost and snow covered plants are there to amaze us in winter
and during the summer heat it often disappears entirely
Don’t be surprised by this: sometimes it dries up and then later it fills up again when the weather turns rainy in the fall
we can walk across the creek through the two Baroque bridges that were built in 1759
The arboretum was established in the protected surroundings of the abbey in the 18th century
This means that every free space of the garden is used
the landscape alternates between colorful plants and green lawn
while winding roads and paths cross each other through them
The park is also Hungary’s tree collection of the highest altitude
Abbot Antal Dréta did significant tree plantings in the area; in 1803
he hired English garden designer Gregorius Mayer to organize the process
400 meters long linden alley was planted then
Legend has it that this road is what remained of the former Roman road that connected Győr and Veszprém
The beautiful fishpond at the main entrance was artificially created at the beginning of the 1700s but not just because for its aesthetics
It was forbidden to eat meat during the obligatory fasting
There’re 600 species of trees and shrubs in the arboretum and 80% of them are deciduous
Besides the typical native plants of the region
we can also see so called exotics: these are species like magnolias or maples that are originated from foreign countries. And since we are surrounded by trees and shrubs
it’s no wonder that we can hear the songs of various bird species
there’s a good chance that we’ll bump into squirrels
the nearby 5 kilometers long Pintér-hegyi Study Trail with its 17 stations is worth a tour
and also some spots for campfires where you can have a little barbecue.
there’s even a playground and a forest gym for children
not to mention the ski and sled course during the winter
a 1.8 kilometers long trail about forestry is connected to the study trail
Bakonybél can be found in a beautiful valley
Here we are surrounded by natural attractions
As the area is basically composed of limestone
there are plenty of caves to visit in the nearby forests that are filled with streams
Kis Pénzlik and Nagy Pénzlik were used by the outlaws of Bakony as hideouts
so you might even find the hiding place of a famous bandit while exploring the area
You can visit a nature conservation and forestry collection at House of the Bakony Forests
while at the local history museum we can learn about the traditions of the people of Bakonybél who work in forestry and woodworking
The most famous part of the place is probably the Borostyán-kút (meaning “Ivy Well”) or
as it’s also called Szentkút (meaning “Holy Well”)
Its story is connected to the founding saints of the monastery of Bakonybél
Pope Gregory IX mentions the chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary above the cliff of Saint Gerard in his papal bull issued in 1230
the cliff was originally above today’s Borostyán-kút
while the chapel was on the top of today’s Calvary
The place of worship disappeared during the Turkish era
along with other buildings of the monastery of Bakonybél
According to a study about the history of the monastery from 1838
Saint Gerard was a hermit somewhere near the current cemetery and not at Szentkút
there was no visible sign of the Saint Gerard chapel that stood at the old cemetery
so they built a new one at the Borostyán Well in 1824 and it was consecrated to honor Saint Gerard
The chapel above the well was built in 1855; more than 30 years later a catchment basin was created to collect the water from the springs at the foot of the hill
The local residents joined forces and started landscaping in 1996
they renovated the chapel to fulfill his wish
the area of the chapel at Borostyán-kút has been one of the seven natural wonders of Veszprém County
The other famous sight of the area is Hubertlaki Lake which is sometimes also referred to as the Bakonyi Gyilkos (“Killer”) Lake
The latter name originates from the Gyilkos Lake of Romania (“Killer Lake” or Red Lake)
The lake is fed by a stream called Hamuházi-séd and it was formed by creating an artificial dam
and we heard that hikers even saw some newts in it
with Vajda Péter Lookout on its top can be reached by multiple trails
including the National Blue Trail’s Bakony Mountains section
The pedestal of the lookout is 709 meters above sea level
you can even spot the two thousand meters tall peaks of the Alps 150 kilometers away
The hill was named after the ash trees ("kőris" in Hungarian) that cover the area
The white dome of the Kőris Hill civilian air traffic control radar station is 50 meters away from the lookout
After spending time surrounded by nature, it pays off to visit Bakonybél’s Pannon Observatory
from where you can see even beyond the Alps
and exhibits on the history of astronomy and space exploration await guests here
Here you can ask all the questions you have about the benefits and dangers of Elon Musk’s plan about the colonization of Mars
and you can watch astronomy related movies at the 3D cinema
And to make the space-travel in Bakonybél complete
we can watch solar flares from quite “close”
Today marks the sixty-sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of the Hungarian Blessed János Brenner
killed by the Communists because of his Catholic zeal
the second of three children—both of his brothers would follow in his footsteps to become priests
He began his novitiate at the Cistercian Abbey at Zirc
on 19 August 1950 along with eighteen other young men
He took the white habit of the Cistercian novices choosing the name of ‘Anasztáz’ (Greek for ‘Resurrection’)
On 7 September the Soviet-backed Hungarian government published a decree which prohibited the functioning of almost all religious orders in the country and set a 15 October deadline for the total emptying of the Monastery of Zirc. The novice master, Fr. Lóránt (Lawrence) ‘Sigmond
moved all of the young men of the abbey to live with families in the town where they continued their formation in private and with much secrecy
In order to avoid suspicions from the Soviet occupiers
Brenner enrolled for two semesters as a secular student at the Academy of Religious Studies in Budapest
halt his Cistercian training because of the ongoing Communist oppression
He thus attended seminary in Budapest and in Győr and on 19 June 1955
he was ordained to the priesthood in the Cathedral of the Visitation of Our Lady in by Bishop Sándor Kovács
After his ordination as a diocesan priest Brenner was appointed to be a chaplain at All Saints Church
a parish under the care of the Cistercians at Rábakethely–Szentgotthárd
with three neighbouring villages to take care from that town
There he was embraced with affection by the faithful
He influenced many youth and young adults to reject the atheistic communist doctrine
thus bringing them into the fulness of the Catholic faith
this drew the ire of the Communist government
As some attest, ‘One autumn evening, when he was on his way home on his motorcycle from the town of Farkasfa
but with a few manoeuvres he managed to avoid them
which resulted in multiple fractures of the hyoid bone and horns of the laryngeal cartilage
he would be granted the title ‘Hungarian Tarcisus’
His family held a large funeral at the Salesian Church of Saint Quirinus on 18 December
His ordination motto was inscribed upon the tomb: ‘All things work together for good to those who love God.’ (Romans 8
This past 16 and 17 September Blessed Brenner was honoured at the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz, Austria (just outside of the capital city of Vienna). Within the Holy Cross Chapel of the abbey complex, the Cistercians inaugurated the new sacred art work they commissioned from a young Austrian painter, Clemens Maria Fuchs
he did a mural behind the altar of the chapel
Seeing how the main purpose of sacred art is to glorify and serve God and to direct the faithful mind to prayer
Clemens painted the image of the Blessed Cistercian—his image is also in the main abbey church
Blessed Brenner is particularly remembered at Heiligenkreuz because he initially wanted to join that abbey
but was unable to do so because of the aforementioned Soviet oppression
Vicar General for the Diocese of Szombathely
who was present for the groundbreaking event
‘János always maintained a Cistercian spirituality.’
you know that I am not looking for happiness in this life since I have placed everything in you
I look at your pain ridden face and follow you
I ask you only one thing: May I always fulfil most precisely what you give to me as my vocation.’
The Chapel of the Good Pastor was built in 1989 on the spot were he died
and is a popular place of pilgrimage for people throughout the country
Blessed Brenner was not just a martyr for the Eucharist because of his love and devotion for the Catholic Church and the faithful
the reception of the Sacraments is essential for drawing closer to God
His sacrificing his own life serves as a reminder that we should not be ashamed
especially in the politically correct society we live in

philosophical and cultural issues from a conservative perspective
Probably not as good as the ancient supervolcanoes in Australia
which scientists have discovered had enough explosive power to fling rocks to the other side of the country – more than 1,400 miles (2,253 kilometres) away
The research is helping us understand more about how the continent
It's long been known that the east coast of Australia is home to ancient supervolcanoes
but what wasn't clear until now was what kind of role they played in forming the country
a team from Curtin University in Western Australia analysed the age and composition of geological material across the west side of the country
The study revealed sand-sized zircon crystals that didn't match up with any of the typical rock composition in Western Australia – but that did reflect the volcanic rock of the Whitsundays area in north-east Australia
That suggests that the giant volcanoes that were once dotted the north-eastern coast belched rocks far and wide – including all the way to the other side of the country
the local craters and solidified lava flows were all researchers had to go on when estimating the size of these ancient eruptions
"Such distal projection of a unique volcanic mineral population demonstrates that super-eruptions were occurring in eastern Australia approximately 106 million years ago, during the break-up of the supercontinent Gondwana," said lead researcher, Milo Barham
Based on an analysis of the arrangement of land masses and atmospheric conditions at the time
it looks like the super-eruptions happened during the southern hemisphere's winter
when strong winds from the east would have helped to push the volcanic rock westwards
If the scientists' hypothesis is right, the super-eruptions would've been tens to hundreds of times more powerful than any in recorded history, reports Alice Klein for New Scientist
Were such an eruption to happen today in Queensland
it would be heard all the way over in Perth
Being able to get insight into eruptions of this type is important to scientists studying the changes that have happened to Earth's climate over time – an eruption that would have been powerful enough to blast rocks thousands of kilometres would most likely have had a significant cooling effect as well
But the research will also help the team trace the evolution of different species
and help scientists to predict when and if eruptions of this strength will happen again
The biggest super-eruption on record, meanwhile, came from the Toba volcano in Indonesia some 75,000 years ago
In that case, sand-sized particles were blown over a 1,700-mile (2,735-km) radius, as shown by ash layers found deep below the ocean, but experts are divided on how much of an impact the blast had on the planet's climate
Peering back this far into history isn't easy
but the more data scientists have access to
the better they can piece together what happened
"The incomplete nature of geological sequences means that recognising these earth-shattering volcanic events is difficult in deeper geological time
millions to billions of years ago," said Barham
The research has now been published in Geology
Zelos Watches is a recent Singaporean brand founded in 2014 by watch enthusiast Elshan Tang
More than twenty models have been produced in this short time
The brand has a surprising amount of innovations and industry firsts
non-magnetic and corrosion-resistant titanium alloy) and meteorite watch bezels

Here is a non-exhaustive list of some libraries worth visiting
even the building itself is impressive from the outside
you might not find it all that spectacular – until you visit the upper floors
The library was originally built as a palace by Frigyes Wenckheim
and some of the rooms on the 4th floor have been conserved in their original
they function as ordinary reading rooms accessible to all members of the library or
you can also buy a ‘tourist ticket’ and simply marvel at their beauty
Located inside the Festetics Palace of Keszthely
this is the sole intact aristocratic library of Hungary
the most beautifully decorated Hungarian-language codex from the Middle Ages
was kept here for almost 150 years before being transferred to the National Széchényi Library in fear that it would become damaged during the Second World War
While the current building is relatively new
the library of the Benedictine monks of Pannonhalma has existed for much longer: the first mention of the collection dates from 1090
If you can tear your eyes away from the gallery with gorgeous Greek-style columns
you can see a painting of the goddess Minerva and the portraits of the greatest figures of Hungarian history
Some of the books in this library were not as lucky as the Festetics Codex to be saved from the turmoils of war
a fighter jet crashed into the library’s roof
severely damaging both the furniture and many items in the collection
When religious orders were banned in Hungary in 1950
many must have feared the fate of the library
everything turned out well: the leaders of the era recognised the historical-cultural value of the library; therefore
it was restored to its old glory and conserved in that state
The oldest university library of Hungary predates the foundation of the university it is attached to: while the predecessor in title of ELTE was founded in 1635 by Jesuits
the monks had begun gathering books over half a century earlier
The collection was moved to its current location
an awe-inspiring neo-renaissance edifice on Ferenciek tere
founded in 1793 as a public institution (which was uncommon at the time)
boasts some truly unique documents: for instance
here you can find a fully handwritten letter by Mozart
of which three copies exist in the entire world
Some other notable items are the writings of Sacrobosco
Library of the Calvinistic School and Residence Hall of Sárospatak
Another building that was saved by restoration procedures: the impressive main room of the library was completed in 1834 and remained untouched until the early 2000s when a number of problems arose: for example
reaching temperatures of 30 °C in summer instead of the ideal 18 °C needed to keep antique books in the best possible condition
even the ceiling secco (painting done when the wall is already dry) came down
but you would not be able to tell: from the star-patterned parquette to the murals
everything looks every bit as beautiful as it did in the 19th century
and website in this browser for the next time I comment

An arboretum is a kind of botanical garden
Its stand is usually varied: a number of species can grow even on a very small place
Arboretums may have various aims: to show rare species not native in Hungary
to save endangered species or to carry out scientific experiments
They are also useful in education but have aesthetic purposes as well
The arboretum of Alcsút is located in Alcsútdoboz
Its building started in 1825 and it was founded by Archduke Joseph
The garden got renewed after 1870 when loads of pine trees and shrubs were planted there
Its current territory is 40 hectares and its main attraction is Hungary’s biggest snow-drop field
It is suitable for a lazy walk in the weekend
but weddings can also be held there as it even has a chapel
This arboretum is frequently called Magic Garden
It was founded by István Ambrózy-Migazzi in 1922
Its main attraction is the largest rhododendron stand in Europe
you have a number of options on how to spend your time there: walking
biking or horse riding in the beautiful nature
rafting on River Rába or swimming in the lakes nearby
Its open hours are longer when rhododendrons are blooming
It is located in the Southern part of Zala county
The forests were owned by the Zichy family up until 1945
This is the year when the arboretum’s construction began
partly practical purpose – to show and examine plants not native in Hungary
Zalaerdo.hu reports that the arboretum got renewed a few years ago: the hunting lodge was renovated
a new playground and a look-out tower were built
It is a perfect place to go on a trip with the whole family
His aim was to collect all the species that can bear the climate and drought of that territory
It has been highly protected and part of Balaton Uplands National Park since 1997
The arboretum’s territory is around 5 hectares together with the forests nearby
It was bought back by the Folly family after the democratic transformation
and currently the Folly Winery operates there
and its main purpose is to collect all the woody plants native in Hungary and also to protect them
It has a unique history: it was founded by painter Ibolya Molnár
who fell in love with the place during her trips there
She frequently painted the wonderful panorama and in 1994 she managed to buy the territory
she created a beautiful garden that collects a number of species
It was created by Fábián Szeder in the 1840s
Hundreds of trees and shrubs can be found there
The garden is mainly for recreation and relaxation
but educational and research work is also frequently carried out there
The monks used to plant and collect those plants which are useful in healing
but the first data of researches is dating back to the beginning of the 19th century
Its stand contains mainly deciduous trees native in the Bakony
It has been considered a protected area since 1951 and its main attraction is the Cuha stream that crosses the park
but most of the plants are from after the big deforestation of 1753

According to the votes of Origo’s readers
is Hungary’s most beautifully located village
lying along the forests of Bakony between Mór and Zirc in the southern corner of the county
Origo launched the competition on the 25th of September
In the first two rounds 3-3 villages – recommended by the professionals of county general assemblies – competed from each county
Only villages could take part in the competition
because the aim was to introduce settlements that are not part of the main Hungarian touristic attractions
The first round was closed a bit earlier than expected due to some unfortunate frauds
The second round was launched on the 9th of October and closed on the 13th
In this round you could vote for the most beautiful-lying villages of 19 counties
It seems like the second round was also popular as Origo received 128,820 votes all together
There was a real battle for the second place between Császártöltés in Bács-Kiskun County and Feked in Baranya County
which was followed by Kisszékely in Tolna County
The Mayor of the silver medallist Császártöltés
Judit Stalter said that everyone was very excited in the village on Thursday
said that they mobilised great powers to become second
but they are very happy with the third place as well
