There are three pillars that every prospective leader must have
The three are Intellectual Quality—the ability to think critically and strategically in solving problems
Spiritual Quality—the foundation of faith and moral values that serve as a compass in leadership
and Emotional Quality—the ability to control emotions
"A leader is someone who is able to invite
and even if necessary force others towards goodness
Erwin revealed this when providing motivation and leadership insight to hundreds of participants in the 2025 Digitech University Student Leadership Training (LKM) at Yonkav 4 Kijang Cakti
Erwin explained four leadership typologies that are commonly found in society
The four are Charismatic Leaders—leaders who are naturally followed because of their authority and charm
Authoritarian Leaders—leaders who are rigid
Liberal Leaders—leaders who only give orders without providing direction or guidance
and Democratic Leaders—leaders who are open to discussion and involve all parties in decision making
He encouraged Digitech University students to hone their democratic leadership style
as this style is considered the most relevant in the context of inclusive and collaborative future leadership

The SPE Bandung Institute of Technology Student Chapter (SPE ITB) is ushering in a new era with a rebranding that includes the official soft launch of both a revamped website and a brand-new magazine
This initiative offers all student members free access to fresh
engaging content designed to inspire and inform
the chapter invites readers to explore its dynamic digital platform and discover the hard work and creativity that has gone into shaping this next phase
The magazine and website aim to not only celebrate past achievements but also foster collaboration and growth among student chapters moving forward
sat down with TWA to share the motivation behind the rebranding and how it sparked a new form of collaboration within the chapter
TWA: What inspired the SPE ITB SC to create a magazine and website
IS: The idea to create a magazine and website came from our shared concern about the lack of a formal platform to showcase the hard work and achievements of the SPE Bandung Institute of Technology Student Chapter (SPE ITB SC) 2024-2025
While we actively post on mainstream platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn
we realized that not everyone—especially professionals in the industry and academic staff—engages with these platforms
it was often difficult to explain the scale and impact of our programs over the past year in a clear and lasting way
the SPE ITB SC Board of Directors decided to compile a comprehensive magazine titled “SPE ITB SC 2024/2025: One Year in Motion
A Journey of Growth and Impact” and build an integrated website
These serve not only as a legacy and final report of our term
but also as a reflection of our values and dedication
Our motivation was also fueled by the fact that our chapter had not received the SPE Presidential Award for Outstanding Student Chapter for the past 2 years
As someone who has been part of this organization since 2021
and restore the recognition our chapter once proudly held
especially in the category of technical dissemination and professional development
TWA: How did the SC collaborate among its members to ensure the initiative was successful
IS: When the idea of creating a magazine and website was first proposed in January 2025
it became my personal responsibility as president to align everyone’s vision and communicate why this initiative truly mattered
I emphasized that these two deliverables would not only benefit us moving forward
but could also inspire others beyond our chapter
We held several meetings with members and the SPE ITB SC Board of Directors to develop the framework and begin the writing process
I also practiced leading by example—sharing drafts of my own writing first to spark ideas and encourage others
One of the motivational quotes I often shared came from renowned Indonesian author
Pramoedya Ananta Toer: “A person may be as smart as the sky is high
Thanks to the commitment of our more than 1,500 members and officers
each of our 91 programs this year was executed with full engagement and followed by a detailed program report covering objectives
These reports were written by the person in charge of each event
meaning that each of our 83 officers contributed at least once
These collective contributions were later compiled and transformed into a magazine and website by our marketing department which comprises students from visual communication design and informatics engineering
This beautiful cross-background collaboration became the secret recipe behind the success of our entire year
TWA: What advice do you have for other student chapters that may be interested in rebranding
IS: For student chapters planning to enhance their branding
you can begin building a visual and communication strategy that aligns with it
SPE ITB SC has a distinct color identity rooted in our origins: brown was formed by combining orange (the color of ITB’s petroleum engineering department) and blue (the color of SPE)
This unique identity has always been a source of pride for us and is embodied in our slogan
#EclatwithPRIDE—which stands for Excellence Built on Professionalism
Once you’ve established a strong foundation
Innovation can come through new programs or fresh visual design
we took a bold step by adopting a more vibrant and welcoming design that looks different from the typical rigid look of professional organizations
The goal was to reshape perceptions and show that the oil and gas industry can be sustainable
invest in accessible platforms to showcase your work
We highly recommend publishing a magazine and creating a dedicated website
These tools ensure your branding efforts reach broader audiences
Keep the momentum alive by sharing your work through official university pages
nurture strong internal bonds within your team
A strong team bond built through shared moments outside of work is what makes your organization’s branding feel real and inspiring
TWA: What standout activities or content are most proudly featured in the One Year in Motion magazine
IS: The magazine captures the complete journey of our #EclatwithPRIDE tenure
It opens with a foreword by ITB Professor Ir
PhD—our faculty advisor and the founder of SPE ITB SC in 1989
the magazine reviews our year’s accomplishments
including sponsorships from four oil and gas companies
engagement with 32 professionals from 17 different companies
and participation from over 2,600 individuals across 91 programs
The magazine also highlights 22 delegation teams that proudly represented the university in national and international competitions
Featured stories include our PetroBowl team competing in Vietnam
two students winning a technical paper contest in Perth
and the inspiring journey of SPE ITB SC member Samuel Dacosta Lubis at SPE ATCE in New Orleans
Among the most detailed and highlighted content is the story of our flagship programs—SPE ITB Techno x RFD and Joint Technical Guest Lecture x NESR—featured on pages 32 and 33 of the magazine
The Techno event was a 2-day tNavigator training
paired with a software donation ceremony valued at over $60 million
NESR brought 40 of their employees to campus for mentoring and a rare live demonstration of a wireline logging truck
The magazine closes with highlights from IPFEST 2025
Indonesia’s largest student-led oil and gas festival
co-hosted with HMTM “PATRA” ITB and IATMI SM ITB
showcasing eight competitions and eight vibrant pre- and post-events
TWA: When was the magazine and website officially launched
What features are available on the newly launched SPE ITB SC website
IS: The magazine and website were officially launched together on 21 April 2025 through Instagram, LinkedIn, and SPE Connect. Both are accessible at https://speitbsc.org
Web visitors are first welcomed by an interactive 112-page digital magazine that simulates the experience of flipping through a physical copy
The website also features an “About Us” section
and introduces the current Board of Directors
The “Gallery” tab is integrated with Instagram and showcases highlight photos and video snippets from our key programs
the “Join Us” page provides a step-by-step guide on how to register or renew membership
ensuring that anyone interested in joining SPE ITB SC can do so easily
As a token of appreciation to our sponsors
we’ve dedicated a section featuring profiles and videos from our partner companies: Rock Flow Dynamics
for collaboration proposals or general inquiries
the “Contact Us” form allows messages to be sent directly to our official organizational email
The SPE ITB SC is sponsored by the SPE Java Indonesia Section

This coordination meeting is part of the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) agenda
the KPK's monitoring platform for regional governance
KPK Regional Director II Bachtiar Ujang Purnama said that there were two main focuses in this Coordination Meeting
namely strengthening the achievement of MCP and managing regional assets as an instrument for increasing revenue and protecting against potential budget leaks
"This MCP covers eight strategic areas that have been identified by the KPK
One of the areas that is the focus today is asset management," said Bachtiar
He added that the MCP achievement in West Java is still below 78 percent
This assessment was conducted through the Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) which resulted in two categories of regions
namely vulnerable and susceptible to corruption practices
Bachtiar highlighted the low contribution of Regional Original Income (PAD) which is still below 18 percent of the total budget
"Many regional heads are still too dependent on central funds through revenue sharing funds or grants and have not focused on managing PAD potential
one of which is through assets," he said
many assets belonging to local governments have not been identified and have not been properly registered
making them vulnerable to disputes or claims by other parties
"The value of assets in West Java is very high
but they have not been optimally utilized because they have not been certified or even inventoried," he explained
Bachtiar said that strategic steps are needed from regional heads
and inspectors to form a special team tasked with hunting down and restoring regional assets
He asked for a re-measurement based on legal ownership
and ongoing monitoring so that the assets could be used for the benefit of the community while increasing regional income
"Certification is not only about legality
If it is officially owned by the government
Also present at the Coordination Meeting was Johanar from the Directorate General of Control and Order of the National Land Agency who emphasized the importance of collaboration between the three pillars in securing assets
"This collaboration concept must start from mature spatial planning
then the land assets are filled and measured according to their physical and legal data
we will continue to experience overlaps and loopholes for misuse," said Johanar
He explained that local governments can strengthen the local economy if they are able to certify and manage their assets
"Assets that are still are just a burden
Assets must move and be productive," he said
