TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two inmates at the Bukittinggi Class IIA Penitentiary in West Sumatra have died, and dozens more have been hospitalized following a suspected alcohol poisoning incident involving homemade alcohol mixed with perfume-grade alcohol
died at Bukittinggi General Hospital around 4:30 p.m
two hours after being rushed from the prison
Initial reports suggest that the cause of death was alcohol poisoning from the illicit alcohol
"The patient suffered from alcohol intoxication
which led to respiratory failure," said Busril
Busril added that the hospital initially received 22 inmates
Two were in critical condition and required ventilator support in the ICU
while eleven remain hospitalized—three in critical condition
Marselina Budiningsih, head of the West Sumatra Ministry of Immigration and Corrections
confirmed that an investigation team has been formed
working in partnership with the Bukittinggi Police
"Preliminary findings suggest that 70 percent alcohol
originally intended for a self-reliance program to make perfume
was stolen and mixed with packaged drinks and ice," she said on Thursday
The alcohol was initially taken for tattoo removal purposes but was later misused for communal drinking
The Ministry of Corrections is looking into possible negligence on the part of the officers involved
Yessi Kurniati said authorities have seized evidence
including containers used for the homemade alcohol
"Some inmates have yet to be interviewed," she said
Gatot Tri Suryanta stated that he had instructed the Bukittinggi Police to conduct a thorough investigation
“The investigation will take time,” he said

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Sarman Simanjorang assessed that the collapse of the national road linking Padang and Bukittinggi due to flash floods in West Sumatra has disrupted the distribution of trade commodity supplies
which will ultimately impede the economy of the affected regions
especially floods and landslides that have caused traffic jams or disruption of transportation
especially logistics transportation,” he told Tempo on Monday

he hoped that the regional governments could be proactive in coordinating and mitigating the escalating adverse effects
“The government must take prompt action
so we hope that the damaged infrastructure
will be repaired immediately and not disrupt the logistics routes,” Sarman said

wildlife officials successfully trapped two Sumatran tigers with the intention of relocating them to a conservation park
The decision to capture the tigers arose after sightings of these creatures near residential areas
was securely caught inside a cage trap installed by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) in Pasaman Regency
said the adult tiger was captured after six months of observation and multiple attempts to keep it away from nearby villages
The captured tiger is currently undergoing examination at a wildlife center in the town of Bukittinggi
It will be relocated to the Sumatran Tiger Rehabilitation Center in the nearby regency of Dharmasraya
medical examinations suggest that the big cat is in overall good health
according to local wildlife official Yoli Zulfanedi
This could be attributed to the lack of natural prey in its habitat
leading the tiger to venture into residential areas," Yoli said
another female tiger was trapped in the South Aceh district in the northern tip of Sumatra Island
The provincial BKSDA set up a cage trap following reports from villagers who frequently encountered the creature in the past two months
a 3-year-old female tiger was captured in the Palembayan district
and subsequently sent to the Dharmasraya rehabilitation center
the center focuses on rescuing the critically endangered Sumatran tigers from threats such as poaching and habitat loss due to human settlement and agricultural expansion
the sanctuary has enclosures ranging in size from 54 square meters to 2,500 square meters
Once the captured tigers are deemed ready to resume life in the wild
they will be released into their natural habitat
It is estimated that fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers currently inhabit the wild

TEKS DOKUMENTASI PEMKAB AGAMOfficials clean up materials carried by the rain's lahar flood from Mount Marapi in Nagari Bukik Batabuah
PADANG, KOMPAS — Dozens of houses were moderately to heavily damaged due to flash floods triggered by rain lava around Mount Marapi
The flood is now starting to subside and officers and residents are cleaning up the remaining material carried by the current
piles of deposit materials carried by the eruption
have been occurring since Friday (5/4/2024) afternoon until Saturday (6/4/2024) morning
Several villages in Agam Regency and Tanah Datar Regency have been affected by the disaster
"Flash floods caused by rain lava caused 4 houses to be seriously damaged, 57 houses to be moderately damaged, and 38 commercial buildings damaged in Nagari Bukik Batabuah," said Budi Perwira Negara, Chief Executive of BPBD Agam

"Floods have not overflowed onto the streets since early Saturday morning
The flow of water in small rivers has decreased
It only remains to clean up the remaining materials from the flash flood," said Budi
Mount Marapi lava floods hit Nagari Bukik Batabuah
four heavy equipment units have been deployed to lift up logs
and materials that obstruct the river flow
The remaining flood materials on the road are also being cleaned up by officials and the community
"We used fire engines to spray materials on the roads and people's houses," he said
there are two villages around the base of Mount Marapi affected by floods
The worst disaster occurred in Bukik Batabuah Village
it has been handled through community collaboration
Though there were floods on the streets and in homes
they were still able to overcome it," he said
Rain-induced lahars also occurred at several points in Tanah Datar
namely on the Padang-Bukittinggi road in Aia Angek Village
as well as in Lima Kaum and Batipuh Districts
Chief Executive BPBD Tanah Datar Ermon Revlin said that the worst point of rain lava flooding was on Jalan Padang-Bukittinggi
The river flow under the road is blocked so that water and other materials overflow onto the road
"Yesterday the road was closed for an hour
We worked together with the public works department to pump the water
the river was dredged using heavy equipment," he said
Officials are cleaning up materials swept away by the flood of volcanic ash and rain from Mount Marapi onto the Padang-Bukittinggi road in Nagari Aia Angek
the river water had overflowed and damaged several rice fields
several irrigation systems were broken due to flood and rain-induced lahar
there have been no reports of damage so far
The only case was in Aia Angek where some water entered
but it has already been flushed out by BPBD and Damkar personnel," he said
The head of the Geological Agency at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
stated in a press release that the repeated eruptions of Mount Marapi since December 3
have produced eruption materials in the form of ash
and stones in the mountain's peak and slopes
it is said that water fills the river flow and mixes with the volcanic material deposits
resulting in lahars that will flow to low-lying areas
especially following the rivers that originate directly from the peak of Mount Marapi

Based on seismograph recordings at the Mount Marapi Volcano Observation Post in Bukittinggi
tremors were recorded from 2:00-3:30 pm on Friday which were caused by heavy rain around the summit of Mount Marapi and resulted in lahars flooding in several areas
and several rivers flowing into the Batipuh District
seismographic recordings indicate that there are still signs of rain in the area of Mount Marapi
which is currently at Level III or Alert status
it is advised again that the community temporarily stay away from the banks/streams of rivers that originate from the peak of Mount Marapi," he said

belasan karung plastik bening berisi ragam keripik berbahan dasar singkong tertata rapi

Pembuatannya memerlukan waktu 2 tahun 8 bulan (1942-1945)

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is currently exploring the possibility to obtain financial backing from the Japanese government to construct the Padang - Bukittinggi - Pekanbaru toll road
Another alternative funding scheme is a partnership between government and business entity (KPBU) which will have an investment value reaching up to Rp35 trillion
The Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono says that he has already discussed the deal with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
“A team from JICA has already surveyed the location last week,” he said Tuesday in a press release
Basuki explained that the Padang-Bukittinggi-Pekanbaru toll road is designed with a long distance route up to 240 kilometers
The option of constructing tunnels through high geographical elevation changes or hills crossing the toll road is also being considered in reducing the travel time and the lands that must be acquired
The Padang-Bukittinggi-Pekanbaru toll road
will interconnect with the Trans Sumatra toll road that is included in the ASEAN highway project
It will be able to slash the travel time between Padang City and Pekanbaru from 10 hours to two hours
This will greatly improve the economy in West Sumatra and Riau

The Bekate Color Run was scheduled for October 21 in the West Sumatra city of Bukittinggi
but no runner crossed the finish line because the race event never happened
cancelled the Color Run for reasons that we can only describe as being based in the most ridiculous of homophobic paranoia
Speaking to state radio network Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) earlier this month
Ramlan said he pulled the permit for the event due to suspicions that it was somehow associated with support for the LGBT community
“As the regional head I rescinded the event permit for the Color Run in Bukittinggi
This decision is based on indications that the Color Run is an activity that contains themes of LGBT support so it could be disturbing to the people of Bukittinggi
This was seen from numerous negative comments [against the event] on social media,” he said
But what exactly about the run made it supposedly synonymous with the LGBT community
“The Color Run event is an activity that is suspected to be an event to support the presence of LGBT
Because of the rainbow colors that have become the theme of the event
it is indicative of being the logo of the LGBT community,” Ramlan said
The West Sumatra Regional Council (DPRD) also supported Ramlan’s move in a statement posted on the province government’s official website
but warned the city administration to vet organizers before approving any events to prevent anything like this from happening in the future
Indonesia researcher for the Human Rights Watch
told Coconuts that this case speaks volumes about the increasing paranoia towards LGBT individuals and communities in Indonesia — fears that are being perpetuated particularly by government officials
“This moral panic really needs to be stopped
Minangkabao (ethnic group indigenous to West Sumatra) leaders should have the moral courage to educate the public that homosexuality is natural
Many traditional cultures and languages recognize non-binary sexuality,” Andreas said
The Javanese and the Sundanese also have long recognized gender minorities

Human Rights Watch also released a report yesterday highlighting a recent rise in persecution against LGBT individuals in Indonesia
One form this has taken is a disturbing number of anti-LGBT statements and policies made by government officials in the last few weeks
While the Color Run cancellation story was barely reported on by the national media in Indonesia
it did not escape the ridicule of some Indonesian netizens who pointed out the huge flaw in Mayor Ramlan’s logic

“Next I propose the mayor should ban kue lapis (colorful layered soft rice flour pudding) and colorful gulai (Indonesian curry) seasoning because they are indicative of showing support for LGBT,” the post above reads
