A house in Jember was completely destroyed on Saturday by a powerful explosion caused by explosive materials used to make homemade firecrackers
suffered serious burns to his face and both arms
He was found sitting silently in shock in front of the charred remains of his home in Sumbersari District as neighbors rushed to the scene
His 14-year-old son was also injured after the entire roof collapsed
Jember Police Chief Adjunct Chief Commissioner Bayu Pratama Gubunagi said Imam had been secretly producing firecrackers inside his home
The explosion is believed to have been triggered when he took a break for lunch and lit a cigarette
causing a spark that ignited the materials
“We have contacted the hospital to urgently treat the homeowner
who visibly suffered severe burns,” Bayu said
but it seems he may have been making firecrackers as a side job during Ramadan
Police deployed a bomb disposal unit to inspect the area for any remaining explosive materials in the debris
The incident follows a series of recent firecracker-related tragedies in East Java
a nine-year-old boy in neighboring Nganjuk Regency was killed when a large firecracker -- measuring 30 centimeters long and 8 centimeters thick -- accidentally exploded near him
police in the East Java town of Blitar seized 96 kilograms of gunpowder from nine suspects
who were allegedly planning to manufacture and sell firecrackers for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations
“The amount of explosive material we confiscated is enough to flatten our entire police headquarters,” said Blitar Police Chief Adjunct Chief Commissioner Titus Yudho Uly
Indonesian law strictly prohibits the production of homemade firecrackers and the storage of explosive materials without proper authorization

Like most regional cities on the volcanic landmass of Java
It's the Asia of one's backpacking days — uneven payments and roadside food stalls
It is most famous for tobacco and the production of cigars.
In the late 1990s, Dynand Fariz set out to change that. Fariz (1963-2019) a Jember native, acquired scholarships to study fashion and design in both Jakarta and France. Then, he decided to use his skills to create a promotional event for his native city. Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) was the result.
During the first decade of the festival's existence from its initiation in 2002
The twenty-second edition of the carnival was held from August 2-4 2024
It included five thematic carnivals over three days: The World Kids Carnival
the Wonderful Archipelago Carnival Indonesia
and the Grand Carnival of Jember Fashion Carnaval.
Each carnival features costumes and performers on an expansive sound stage and "runway"
The runway is a 120-meter stretch of street that borders the city's central park.
At the conclusion of each thematic carnival, the performers parade through the main thoroughfare of Jember for up to an extraordinary 3.6 kilometers. The crowds are five or six deep, or in places, considerably more. It seems as if the whole city turns out. In terms of size and scale, JFC is second only to the Rio Carnival of Brazil.
The principal fashion component occurs during the Artwear carnival
About 500 participants model the creations of contemporary designers
including international beauty pageant contestants
There they are joined by the audience.
the inclusion of the word "fashion" in "Jember Fashion Carnaval" is somewhat misleading
The costumes for which the carnival is best known have no application as wearable clothing
They can weigh as much as 20 kilograms and demand considerable space
the logistical considerations of transport
and assembly are little less than those of actual construction.
will be remembered as one of the most significant
it received a boost of serious star power from Japan.
The impact of the Japanese artists also went beyond their actual performances
The costumes created for the festival are indeed stunning
the insertion of the Japanese performers into the program provided a refreshing variety that enhanced the perception of the costumes that followed.
hanabi were set off from adjacent rooftops
It was very much a new experience for the Indonesian crowd
and many were so overwhelmed as to be moved to tears
The driving force behind this Japanese influx is Sakura Ijuin
Ijuin began working for an NPO in 2011 that engaged in cultural exchange between Japanese and Indonesian children
In 2018 she accepted the offer to become a JFC ambassador. She resolved to become involved with the World Kids Carnival. In addition, she hoped to introduce some Japanese participation throughout the totality of the five carnivals. When the NPO for which she was working ceased operations, she began the Sakuranesia Society
She is supporting JFC under that banner.
around 30 Japanese performers and spectators attended
it was an extraordinary 136 — way beyond what the carnival leaders expected
"We couldn't believe it" stated Aristorama Cahyo Putro (Arist) Creative Director of the carnival
"Every few weeks there was more good news."
an emerging online food and lifestyle supplier.
The carnival has very much maintained its grassroots origins
Participants commit to a training program in makeup
"It takes around 100 hours for a seasoned veteran to put together a costume," states Kalifa Diyantama (Tama)
Costume construction often becomes a family or even village-wide project with associated social benefits
He often receives comments about how the time spent creating costumes has healed relationships and brought families
neighborhoods and communities closer together.
there is no cavernous warehouse full of stock from previous years
Certain costume themes reappear from year to year
but performers are strictly forbidden to buy or borrow from past participants
"That would seriously undercut the personal developmental aims of the carnival," states Iwan
The Jember Fashion Carnival is an excellent example of successful regional self-branding
Jember has become known as a "carnival city." The carnival is also on the way to becoming a cross-cultural success story between Indonesia and Japan
the cultural exchange is primarily in the direction of Japan to Indonesia
efforts are being made to bring Indonesian nationals into the Japanese performances.
On the final day, for example, Kadokawa Dreams accompanied popular Indonesian singer Raisa
Their lineup included three Indonesian guest dancers
the dance team is also looking to recruit international members from Asian nations
The organizers are most certainly grateful for the Japanese involvement, as are the local political elite. Bubah Alfian is a JFC art director and celebrity makeup artist with 1.1 million Instagram followers
he characterized Sakura Ijuin as a tribute to Indonesia
This was effusive but not outrageous praise.
When asked by JAPAN Forward about their hopes and plans for 2025 and beyond
both Ijuin and JFC president Iwan first mentioned honor to the legacy of founder Dynand Fariz
His tragic death from the preventable disease of tuberculosis at age 55 most certainly galvanized all who had known him to see his mission through
Ijuin spoke of aiming for eight Japanese performance acts and 500 total performers and guests from Japan
That is a significant increase from the 136 of 2024.
"But Sakura always seems to make it happen." He then spoke of the challenges with which opportunities are inevitably paired
"We feel very comfortable with the costuming and our community-based programs
Our challenge is internationalizing without losing our community focus
But everyone knows about the Rio carnival"
JFC CEO and the oldest brother of founder Dynand Fariz
"They just don't realize it." Photos of JFC sourced from international news agencies "have surpassed those of Rio" he announced
"We just need to make people realize what they are looking at."
There will surely be a great deal more to see in the coming years from the Jember Fashion Carnaval
both literally and in terms of enhanced relations between Japan and its Indonesian neighbor.

Baidaus berharap gaji ASN segera dicairkan
“Habis hari raya kemarin habis-habisan
“Seperti biasa rekap daftar hadir diminta setiap akhir bulan
Supriyono mendorong agar masalah gaji segera diselesaikan
“Saya pikir daftar hadir guru setiap bulan pasti
Hanya terlambat beberapa hari saja anggota dewan sdh kejang
have been infected with foot and mouth disease (FMD)
resulting in 61 deaths over the past few months
according to the local Food Security and Livestock Department
The department reported that over 4,000 cows in the regency have been vaccinated
with the latest deaths reported in Kertonegoro Village
The outbreak has caused panic among farmers
prompting many to sell their cattle at reduced prices to avoid further financial losses
“Many cows in this village have been sold due to fear of FMD deaths and zero income
a fairly large cow was sold for just Rp 10 million ($619)
while its normal price is above Rp 15 million,” said Sudarsono
Veterinarian Fahmi Galuh confirmed the cattle deaths in Kertonegoro Village and reported that at least nine cows there tested positive for FMD
“The FMD cases are our main concern right now
We have set up a rapid reaction team comprising veterinarians to monitor cases and implement early preventive measures,” said department head Agus Iwan Haswanto
The team has been conducting inspections at livestock farms and cattle markets to detect FMD and prevent its spread
Farmers have been warned against trading infected cattle to contain the outbreak
Local farmer Sutono shared a success story
reporting that his infected cows fully recovered after intensive care
The four infected cows have now fully recovered,” he said
Most FMD cases in Rembang have been detected in Sarang District
which is suspected to be the epicenter of the outbreak
Foot and mouth disease is a highly contagious viral disease affecting cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle
It is caused by the Aphthovirus and spreads rapidly through direct contact
and even airborne transmission in some cases
The disease often results in severe economic losses for farmers due to decreased milk production
Vaccination campaigns are a key strategy in controlling FMD outbreaks

Jember memproduksi sekitar 8 ribu - 9 ribu ton tembakau cerutu per tahun
Awal abad 19 Belanda menerapkan kebijakan ekonomi the system of enterprise (sistem pembangunan perusahaan atau industri) sebagai pengganti the cultivation system (sistem pengolahan bahan)
Tahun 1850 Birnie mengantongi hak erfpacht (hak guna usaha) selama 75 tahun bersama empat pengusaha lain
Landbouw Matscapay Out Djember (NV LMOD) di daerah Jenggawah
Dua abad setelah Birnie mengembangkan tembakau BNO

headache and excessive salivation sometimes accompanied by decreased consciousness
The risk of nicotine poisoning increases when mixed with wet conditions due to rain
Recent research states that the risk factors affecting GTS cases in tobacco farmers are working period OR = 2,944
complaints of dermatosis OR = 3,876 and nutritional status which was assessed by BMI OR = 2.643
Farmers with a service life of ≥ 18 years had a risk of 2,944 times the occurrence of GTS compared to farmers with a service life of
The long working period means that the accumulated hazard exposure is getting bigger
Tobacco farmers with a term of ≥ 15 years are at 2,944 times the risk of experiencing GTS compared to farmers with a term of
farmers with low nutritional quality had a 2.643 times risk of experiencing GTS compared to farmers with good or normal nutrition

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Java authorities on Sunday said that they had discovered a 9-meter whale shark that is believed to have died after it was beached at East Java’s Paseban Beach.
“We immediately mobilized our team to the field after we received information from local fishermen and village leaders about a beached whale shark at the Paseban Beach,” said the Head of the Jember Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA)
Based on further details by the local BKSDA team
the 9-meter whale shark is believed to weigh roughly 2 tons
which was a handful for locals to move its remains further into the beach to receive a burial.
“Officials together with village residents will pull the whale shark remains to the seashore before it is buried
The whale shark’s remain is planned to be buried tonight,” said Setyo Utomo.
Indonesian law protects the species as an endangered species under the Maritime and Fisheries Minister’s Decree No.18/2013 which requires a beached whale shark to be returned to the ocean if found alive
the rules also state that those that are found dead must be buried.
Prior to this. Three whale sharks were found beached in Jember’s southern coast of Nyamplong Kobong Beach earlier in July
one of the three whales died due to getting stuck in a fisherman’s net which eventually ended up being cut down for consumption
