TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Toll road operator, Jasa Marga Ngawi Kertosono Kediri (JNK), responded to the growing online rumors that compare the Madiun toll road interchange monument to a hammer and sickle
which is a notable symbol for communism.
Acting as the Ngawi - Kertosono toll road operator
JNK strongly denies the rumors and said that the horizontal curvature of the monument is meant to represent the company’s logo and a means for branding.
The monument also acts as a visual reminder for toll road users
as it is located nearby the toll road’s entrance and exit gate
the iconic monument resembles three alphabets; J N K,” said Dwi in a press release on Monday
He asserts that the vertical pole seen from an angle forms the alphabet “J” while the curvature partially surrounding the vertical pole resembles an “N” from an upwards view
The alphabet “K” will be visible if seen from the Madiun interchange that heads to the eastern side.
“It does not resemble a hammer and sickle,” Dwi said.
