langsung aparat polisi datang mengangkut mereka,” katanya
Zadrak Kudiyai: Di Nabire banyak kepentingan
“Kami keluarkan pernyataan sikap KNPB kemarin saat aksi bersama rakyat Papua Barat menolak perjanjian illegal New York Agreement lawan anti rasisme,” katanya
Seperti diberitakan Jubi.id sebelumnya (Kamis, 15/8/2024)
ternyata posisinya mereka melakukan tindakan anarkis

Jakarta - The Free Papua National Liberation Army for West Papua (TPNPB-OPM) claims to have shot at a civilian aircraft at Sinak Airport
TPNPB-OPM spokesman Sebby Sambom said the shooting occurred at 12:40 p.m
during the deployment of military logistics and troops
"Because the plane was dropping Indonesian military troops and logistics from Nabire to the TPNPB area of operation in Sinak," Sambom said in a written message received by Tempo on Tuesday
The Cartenz 2024 Peace Operation's PR chief

the Smart Air and NGA planes successfully returned to their original destinations of Nabire and Mimika
The shooting down of the Smart Air plane adds to the long list of violence perpetrated by the KKB in Papua
the armed criminal group (KKB) or OPM has increased its attacks on security forces and civilians
Bayu assured that the security forces would continue to take action against the perpetrators and ensure security in the area
He said patrols and security operations will continue to be intensified to prevent the armed group from resuming operations

Koalisi Organisasi Masyarakat Pro Keadilan
Nabire memiliki gambut seluas 173.400 hektar
pernah menjabat Kepala Pusat Info Pengolahan Data Divisi Telematika Mabes Polri (2010)
kini pengurus Wakil Ketua Budang Litbang PBVSI
Membuat kita miskin padahal punya tanah,” kata Pendeta Magda Kafiar
Selama pemerintahan Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla
Kepala BPKH Wilayah X Jayapura mengklarifikasi atas data-data koalisi

Indonesian security forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets in clashes with protestors marking the 62nd anniversary of a UN agreement that paved the way for Jakarta’s annexation of the Papua region
At least one protester was wounded by a rubber bullet and 95 people were arrested during the unrest in Nabire
one of the protest organisers.
The demonstrations on Thursday last week were led by the West Papua National Committee (KNPB)
a pro-independence group that opposes Indonesian rule in Papua
Similar protests were reported across several other cities
Protesters are urging international bodies
to intervene and pressure Indonesia to halt military operations in Papua.
KNPB chairman Warpo Wetipo issued a direct plea to Pope Francis
asking him to raise awareness about the violence and human rights violations in Papua.
The head of the Catholic Church is due to visit Indonesia next month
“We ask the Pope to advocate for an end to the oppression of the Papuan people,” Wetipo said.
While the protest in Nabire started peacefully
tensions escalated when police deployed tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds
with around 100 officers using trucks and crowd-control vehicles to quell the demonstrators,” he told BenarNews.
Local police chief Wahyudi Satrio Bintoro said security personnel took action after the protestors threw rocks at officers and engaged in vandalism
including setting fire to motorcycles.
“The Nabire police carried out measured and decisive action,” he said.

It stipulates that the United Nations would initially assume control
Indonesia could take over administration under certain conditions.
at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
many Papuans believe the deal was made without their consent
and it paved the way for what they see as Indonesia’s illegitimate annexation of their homeland.
West Papua was formally integrated into Indonesia in 1969 following a controversial referendum
known as the “Act of Free Choice.” Under heavy military presence
a small group of just over 1,000 selected Papuans voted unanimously for integration
a result that many have since disputed.
the region has been the site of long-running conflict between Indonesian security forces and separatist rebels
with frequent reports of human rights abuses.
Despite efforts to address the economic development of the region, many Papuans continue to push for self-determination, citing decades of discrimination, military violence
and exploitation of their land and resources
protesters were denied access to the planned protest site in Abepura.
“We had secured permission for the protest
but the police still obstructed us,” said KNPB’s Wetipo.
a group of students gathered under the banner “Students Concerned About Papua,” delivering speeches and calling for attention to Papua’s ongoing struggles.
Jayapura police confirmed the intervention
arguing that the protests were highly disruptive.

“I urge all parties to ensure safety and security,” she said
adding that grievances should be addressed through appropriate channels rather than violence.
the protests were similarly contained by police.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Papua Police Chief Sr
Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo on Wednesday
said a joint military and police team together with the local administration were currently mediating a conflict between two local Papua tribes; Mee and Dani
June 5, turned deadly and claimed two lives
“Law enforcement officers are handling the conflict among local residents that saw a house burned in the Nabire Regency,” said Ignatius in his press statement on June 7
and a number of regional leaders were trying to mediate the two tribes in conflict
especially in Nabire Regency and several regencies around the area
to refrain and stay indoors and don’t commit to harming themselves or others," the police chief said as he called for peace.
The clash between the two tribes in Nabire Regency was allegedly triggered by a conflict over the territorial boundaries of customary land in Urumusu Village
The conflict led to the burning of houses which resulted in the death of two people

Aktivis Liga Perjuangan Nasional Rakyat Papua Barat menegaskan
jangan lagi masyarakat suku Yerisiam ditipu PT Nabire Baru,” katanya
Mongabay berupaya menghubungi perwakilan perusahaan

International (MNN) – Have you ever thought about becoming a missionary pilot? Mission Aviation Fellowship is always looking for men and women who want to serve God and the Great Commission
While there are several different roles in the ministry
pilots are a key component to what MAF does every day
He grew up overseas and his parents served with MAF
the importance of the airplane to mission work was obvious to Marx
and organizations they flew into remote and hard-to-reach areas suddenly had to find less convenient travel options
This hampered Great Commission work such as Bible translation and evangelism
“I just saw this gap and the struggle and God began working on my heart and I began to pray and say
I will step through them and I could maybe fill the shoes of those pilots who are gone now.’”
Marx attended Moody Bible Institute for a Bachelor of Science in Mission Aviation Technology
He then got the rest of his necessary licenses and joined MAF as a pilot
So what does a day in the life of an MAF pilot look like
Marx gives us a glimpse into one of his personal reflections after a day of taking missions to the skies:
I thought back to what had been accomplished with the plane
to Pogapa I had half a dozen schoolkids who had been boarding in Nabire and now get to go back to their village and to their parents for Christmas
(Photo courtesy of Mission Aviation Fellowship)
a young lady was experiencing a miscarriage
She was into her second trimester and the baby had passed
Now she seemed to be in quite a lot of pain
I would evacuate her to Nabire where doctors can help her
There’s a special account where I can charge emergency medical needs
one of the local teachers came running up to the plane
She just found out her father passed away and she needs to fly home.’ I did my best to comfort these two passengers as we headed back to Nabire
a huge privilege to help during their time of deepest need
“Third leg was a plane full of pastors headed to Beoga
there were many ‘amens!’ and enthusiastic ‘praise the Lord!’
It was pretty funny but terrific at the same time
Their culture is different than mine and I appreciate and enjoy it
“Fourth leg was full of folks headed over the mountain range to Timika and probably further for the holidays
I had to fight some really tall rain clouds
maintaining max climb performance all the way to 14,500 feet where I donned an oxygen mask and maneuvered to a safer air route where I could punch through the weather to better skies on the other side
I landed in moderate rain and heavy crosswind in Timika
“My fifth leg would take me back through that weather.” He pauses for an audible shudder
I picked up some-60 pastors from interior villages for a ministry planning conference in Timika
Now I would take nine of those home to their village on Dofu
I briefed my passengers about the weather we’d face and then decided to swing out west hoping to find a better situation
I only had to climb to 13,000 feet to clear the building storm
a Bible translator who’s been working here for 20 or more years
is making progress building his home with supplies that MAF delivered this fall
Pray for John and his team of Edopi tribal pastors who bring salt and light to a very dark corner of the jungle
“I found myself on the last leg back home to Nabire with three nurses and the doctor from Dofu all headed home for Christmas
it’s unbelievable that today is just another average day at MAF
Only God could take a group of simple pilots and little airplanes and do so much with them.’”

When asked what his favorite part is about being a missionary pilot, Marx doesn’t miss a beat: “Not a flight goes by when I can’t look in the back of the plane and see the reason that I came to Papua. Sometimes it’s a missionary or a pastor or an evangelist. Other times, it’s a teacher and schoolbooks. And sometimes it’s a huge pile of cargo…. That’s my favorite part, is just being able to serve.”
Check back tomorrow as we talk with MAF’s recruitment coordinator about the technical and spiritual aspects of becoming a missionary pilot.

Northern White Rhino Nabire (R) died from complications of a ruptured cyst, leaving just four of her kind alive. (AFP: Michal Cizek, file photo)
Link copiedShareShare articleOnly four northern white rhinos remain on earth after a 31-year-old female named Nabire died in the Czech Republic late on Monday, zookeepers said.
The animal born at Dvur Kralove zoo in the country's north died from complications of a ruptured cyst, the zoo said in a statement.
"Her death is a symbol of the catastrophic decline of rhinos due to a senseless human greed," zoo director Premysl Rabas said.
"Her species is on the very brink of extinction."
The northern white rhinoceros has been nearly wiped out by hunting and poaching for their horns, and by wars in Africa, according to the World Wildlife Foundation.
The four remaining rhinos include Nola, an elderly female living at a zoo in San Diego, and Sudan, an elderly male living with two females — Najin and her daughter Fatu — on the Ol Pejeta reserve in Kenya.
The Ol Pejeta rhinos were shipped from the Czech zoo in 2009 in the hope that the natural environment would encourage breeding.
Dvur Kralove is the world's only zoo to have succeeded at the captive breeding of the rare rhino.

Northern white rhino on brink of extinction after deaths of male in San Diego zoo last year and female named Nabire in Czech Republic this week
Only four northern white rhinos remain on earth after a 31-year-old female named Nabire died in the Czech Republic late on Monday, zookeepers said.
The animal born at Dvur Kralove zoo in the country’s north died from complications of a ruptured cyst, the zoo said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Her death is a symbol of the catastrophic decline of rhinos due to a senseless human greed. Her species is on the very brink of extinction,” said zoo director Premysl Rabas.

Dvur Kralove is the world’s only zoo to have succeeded at the captive breeding of the rare rhino
On the back of the devastating news that Zimbabwe's largest lion Cecil had been killed and skinned by a hunter, zoo keepers reported overnight that one of the world's five remaining northern white rhinos has died from a ruptured cyst
Nabire was a 31-year-old female and was born
raised and also died in the Dvůr Králové Zoo in the Czech Republic
She'd suffered from cysts on her reproductive system her entire life
which is why she'd never been able to produce offspring despite several natural breeding attempts
Nabire leaves behind three other females - two in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya and one at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park - and just one male in Kenya
who has had his horns removed and is guarded round the clock by armed guards
Nabire's death delivers a pretty hefty blow to the outlook of the species
which has had its numbers rapidly reduced by poaching and habitat loss over the past 20 years
even if zookeepers could breed new offspring
it's unlikely they'd be very resilient to natural selection
Still, researchers haven't given up hope just yet. The zookeepers at Dvůr Králové removed Nabire's healthy ovary as soon as she died, and they're now working on harvesting any remaining eggs. As Rachel Feltman reports for the The Washington Post
these eggs will still be immature (the rhinos only release a mature egg every 30 days) but scientists hope they might be able to coax them into maturity in the lab
or frozen sperm that's been collected over the years
and then implant it into a similar species such as the southern white rhino in an attempt to produce new offspring
"A first step involves sequencing the genomes of northern white rhinos to clarify the extent of genetic divergence from their closest relative
But there are also researchers out there who think it may be too late to save species such as rhinos and pandas
and that the resources could potentially be better spent trying to help out more viable survivors
it's a pretty heartbreaking choice to have to make when so many of these creatures have been wiped out by human activity in the first place
it would definitely be a big win if our human ingenuity could bring a species back from the brink of extinction for once
Australian-supported Indonesian police special forces have shot dead a teenage Papuan high school student in central Nabire city, West Papua, reports West Papua Media
The shooting took place on Monday in an “apparently premeditated ambush without provocation
according to credible reports and witnesses from the scene”
Local independent media in Nabire, UmagiNews
are reporting that the extrajudicial killing occurred as the high school students were passing by the heavily armed police patrol near a roundabout in central Nabire
West Papua Media stringers have confirmed these reports
YPPGI (Senior High School) Karang Mulia Nabire West Papua
after being chased by at least three vehicles full of heavily armed
whose name has been withheld for protection
told UmagiNews that Pekei was seen riding on a motorbike carrying a noken bag bearing the outlawed Morning Star pro-independence symbol
where more Densus88 armed members of the police were awaiting him at three points
Pekei was then shot in front of the new city complex at the Nabire regent’s office
allegedly from several directions simultaneously
UmagiNews has published a series of diagrams given by witnesses showing from where different armed units shot Pekei
the second from within the memorial monuments
and the third from the D88 cars of Dalmas Porles Nabire
Unconfirmed reports seen by West Papua Media stringers allege that among the shooters
were a heavily armed patrol of black clad special forces police belonging to the Australian-trained and funded counter-terror unit Special Detachment (Densus) 88
Densus88 has been used extensively for several years to conduct extremely violent repression against Papuan civilians engaged in peaceful acts of free expression
and is currently deployed heavily across Papua
whilst still receiving funding and training from the Australian Federal Police
West Papua Media has published photos of Pekei – provided for publication by his family with permission – showing the entry wound caused by a bullet
which is inconsistent with road impact at low-speed
Warning: Images on this weblink may be distressing for some
human rights observers told UmagiNews that questions arose that if Pekei was considered a road accident victim who was unconscious
why he was dumped in the mortuary instead of receiving an attempt to revive him in the emergency room of the hospital
Other circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been confirmed at time of writing
and Indonesian police in Nabire have refused to answer phone and SMS messages from West Papua Media and local stringers
This shooting is not the first time an event like this has occurred
the Bloody Paniai incident occurred that left four unarmed Papuan teenagers dead and 17 more Papuans injured when the Indonesian army and police opened fire on peaceful protesters in Paniai
Some Papuans who gathered outside the Regent’s office after the killing told UmagiNews that they “questioned the Indonesian government’s seriousness in resolving human rights violations by the Indonesian military”

The BBC has reported that one of the last remaining members of the northern white rhinoceros species has died
She was born and died at the Dvur Kralove zoo in the Czech Republic
She was killed by the rupture of a massive cyst — one of many that had plagued her reproductive system her entire life
Although Nabire’s cysts kept her from reproducing naturally
zookeepers had made attempts to breed her using in vitro fertilization techniques
which haven’t yet been successful in any rhinoceros
Of the four remaining members of the species
which has suffered great losses because of poaching and destruction of habitat
That’s not a lot of genetic diversity to work with
even if breeding efforts were more successful
two are too old to reproduce and one has health issues preventing her from doing so
Nabire’s death may indeed be the last nail in the coffin for her species
But the Dvur Kralove zoo is holding out hope for one final chance
Nabire’s healthy ovary was removed immediately upon her death
and scientists will work to harvest any eggs that they can
Those eggs would be immature — the species produces one mature egg only every 30 days — but the hope is that scientists can figure out how to coax them into maturity in the lab
These artificially matured eggs could be fertilized using the sperm of the last surviving male of the species
who lives in Kenya along with two infertile females
or with any of the many sperm samples frozen throughout the years as the population dwindled
it could be carried to term by a member of a closely related species
but it seems like it’s the species’ only hope
