TEMPO.CO, Palembang - Mount Dempo located in Pagar Alam
The eruption that occurred precisely at 13:38 WIB (Western Indonesian Time) resulted in an ash column approximately 200 meters above the summit of the mountain
stated that based on seismogram observation with a maximum amplitude of 30 micrometers (mm) and a duration of 4 minutes
the ash column appeared grayish with a thick intensity leaning towards the north
no earthquake or significant activities were recorded," he said in a shared written statement
Wafid also mentioned that the current hazard potential is in the form of phreatic eruption with the threat of material projection from the main crater affecting areas within a radius of one kilometer from the eruption center
"Thin ashfall due to the eruption can occur depending on the direction and wind speed," he added
Based on visual and instrumental monitoring results
Wafid added that the volcanic activity of Mount Dempo remains at Level II or 'Alert'
This level is one level above 'Normal' condition - of the four levels of volcanic activity
The other two levels are 'Caution' (III) and 'Danger' (IV)
and tourists not to approach or camp overnight at the Marapi-Mount Dempo crater activity center
The danger zone is set to one kilometer from the crater and the opening direction of the crater as far as 2 kilometers toward the north sector
"Considering the crater as the center of eruption and volcanic gases that can be dangerous for life," said Wafid
Wafid also urged the residents around Mount Dempo to remain calm
not to be provoked by rumors about Mount Dempo's eruption
and to keep up with Mount Dempo's activity developments through the MAGMA Indonesia application
Regional Disaster Management Agency of Province and Districts (BPBD)
should always coordinate with the Mount Dempo Volcano Observation Post or the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigations (PVMBG)
the level of Mount Dempo's activity will be periodically re-evaluated or in case of significant activity changes
The activity level is considered stable if no further evaluation is issued
It is known that Mount Dempo is a strato volcano with a peak altitude of 3,173 meters above sea level
Its eruption history has been recorded since 1818 with an eruption interval of 1-32 years
which was a phreatic eruption with an ash column height of approximately 200 meters above the active crater

a resilient coffee farmer from Semende Darat Ulu
He transformed his backyard house into a remarkable coffee cultivation
poor-quality beans and low prices have been inevitable
Tengku Afif found hope through the Livelihood Improvement Program: Climate-Adaptive Coffee training
initiated by Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap (SERD)
His story reflects the profound impact of SERD’s commitment to enhancing the social aspect in all project areas
As an independent geothermal power producer
SERD has a 30-year phase permit from the government
the CSR integration ensures that all activities prioritize our employees' well-being
By upholding social justice and mutual respect
SERD aims to be a socially and environmentally responsible company that contributes to the betterment of society
has started production since December 2021
SERD strengthens the community’s quality of life through Integrated Social Development Programs (ISDP)
SERD empowers them with livelihood improvement.
Since the early phase of the company's project
SERD has supported more than 50 coffee farmers to pursue their calling in coffee cultivation
Empowering Sustainable Livelihood in Rantau Dedap
Coffee farming has long been a way of life—a tradition passed down through generations
many farmers have faced challenges in cultivation
the Livelihood Improvement Program (LIP) focused on elevating coffee farming as the primary livelihood for the local community
with a mission to transform coffee farming into a sustainable and thriving livelihood.
SERD equipped coffee farmers with the skills needed for successful cultivation
and packaging through comprehensive training
SERD also took a forward-thinking approach by addressing one of the most pressing concerns of our time—climate change
A specialized workshop was conducted to strengthen farmers' adaptability
ensuring that their crops could withstand shifting weather patterns and environmental challenges
But sustainability isn’t just about knowledge—it’s also about infrastructure
the company built a greenhouse dome to support the coffee drying process and provide proper storage facilities
This not only preserves the quality of the coffee beans but also helps farmers maintain consistent production regardless of external weather conditions
Collaboration has been at the heart of this initiative
SERD partnered with the Anwar Muhammad Foundation (AMF) to establish KUBE (Kelompok Usaha Bersama)—a cooperative that strengthens the coffee supply chain
By organizing farmers into a structured group
KUBE has helped them connect with potential buyers
Unleashing Community’s Potential Via CSR Impactful Initiatives
SERD's program operates on four pillars: Education & Health
Each division's participation is crucial in paving the successful path for the company's geothermal operations
which often intersect with local communities
Tengku Afif's journey exemplifies the tangible and continuous impact of Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap's Livelihood Improvement Program: Climate-adaptive Coffee training
"Through our sustainable CSR programs
we transform the lives of individuals while nurturing the holistic development of the communities where we operate
Our initiatives celebrate the vibrant local coffee industry and showcase the exceptional artistry that thrives within these communities. These practices
CSR is not only a responsibility; it’s in our DNA," SERD said

Indonesia-based property developer HK Realtindo
subsidiary of state-owned firm Hutama Karya
plans to release a 30 percent stake through an initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the fourth quarter of 2016
Funds generated through the IPO will be used for further business expansion
The company also plans to issue IDR 500 billion (approx
USD $36 million) in bonds and IDR 250 billion in medium term notes
Last year HK Realtindo had already issued IDR 550 billion in medium term notes in order to finance land acquisition and operational costs for its seven new projects in Cengkareng
Most of these projects involve landed houses projects
The company also plans to construct five hotels this year
In 2015 HK Realtindo collected IDR 600 billion (approx
USD $43 million) in revenues and IDR 150 billion in net profit
This year the company targets revenue to rise to IDR 2.2 trillion and net profit at IDR 220 billion
Hendy Pagar Alam, Commercial Director of HK Realtindo, said the company is ready to go public. However, it waits for the fourth quarter as it does not want to conduct an IPO too close to the IPO of Wika Gedung, unit of another state-controlled construction company, Wijaya Karya
Pagar Alam said the IPO of HK Realtindo might be less attractive for investors in case both companies go public around the same time

At least 25 people died and 14 others were injured after a bus plunged into a ravine in Indonesia
The bus carrying dozens of passengers careered into a 150m ravine in South Sumatra province just before midnight (1600 GMT) on Monday and ended up in a river
Originally the death toll given by police was 24
but the head of the local search and rescue team Berty Kowas said another body was found
“Currently the evacuation is ongoing and some divers are searching (for victims) around the bus,” Kowas told Metro TV on Tuesday
Footage shared by the rescue team showed bodies being taken out of the water on to stretchers
Police and rescuers were scouring the river and the nearby slopes to look for victims and several passengers were feared missing
“It crashed into the concrete road barrier before plunging into the ravine
Some people are still trapped inside the bus,” local police spokesman Dolly Gumara said on Tuesday
Search and rescue teams have been deployed to look for victims
adding injured survivors were taken to hospital
The accident happened in a remote and steep area near the town of Pagar Alam
hampering the efforts to rescue the victims
the regional bus left Bengkulu province for Pagar Alam with 27 onboard but some survivors told police there were around 50 people inside when the accident happened
“Some passengers were probably added along the way so there’s a possibility some more people are still missing in the river,” Gumara said
Traffic accidents are common in the Southeast Asian archipelago
where vehicles are often old and poorly maintained and road rules regularly flouted
at least 21 people died when a bus plunged into a ravine in West Java’s Sukabumi region
12 people were killed and dozens more injured when a passenger tried to wrest control of a bus steering wheel following an argument with the driver on the same toll road in West Java as Thursday’s accident
A strong magnitude 4.8 earthquake occurred in the Indian Ocean near the coast of Bengkulu, Indonesia
The quake had a very shallow depth of 30 km (19 mi) and was not felt (or at least not reported so).
