Dompet Dhuafa not only focuses on distributing social assistance from zakat funds
the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that there are 26.36 million poor people in Indonesia
Many factors influence poverty in Indonesia
Starting from an inadequate minimum wage and poor standard of living to low education
Low education and uneven facilities are also fundamental factors in why poverty persists in this country
not a few Indonesian people are less empowered to be able to improve their economic capabilities
Seeing this problem, Dompet Dhuafa also tried to find a solution to unravel and solve it. One of the efforts is to initiate the DD Farm Livestock Center Program
which focuses on improving the community’s economy
to be able to raise livestock to establish their own livestock businesses

DD Farm has a working concept of recruiting beneficiaries with benefit recipients (mustahik) criteria to work in livestock sheds for two years. But they will work and be given knowledge and training about animal husbandry. Then after two years, these beneficiaries will get capital in the form of sheep/goats with the aim that they can apply their livestock knowledge by running their own business
now in 2023 DD Farm has been present in 12 points throughout Indonesia
DD Farm Pundong recruits local people who later become cage subordinates (ABK) to work and learn about animal husbandry at DD Farm
One of DD Farm Pundong’s beneficiaries
also told the story of his journey with DD Farm Pundong since becoming a fisherman there

“I have been a fisherman for about a year
I also participated in the early step of the process of establishing the cage (pioneering)
casual workers (farm workers and handymen),” Kamesan admitted when met by the Dompet Dhuafa Team
his livestock business ended up out of business due to inadequate livestock knowledge
Kamesan admitted that he had become more masterful of animal husbandry
Kamesan not only works but also is given knowledge about the ins and outs of raising livestock
The difference (between raising your cattle and raising cattle at DD Farm is) how to feed livestock
The cow needs to be drilled or given water if the goat just flows water

Kamesan also talked about the ups and downs during his time as a cage subordinate at DD Farm Pundong
What makes him happy to be at DD Farm Pundong is caring for livestock
which feels like caring for his own livestock
“I Like being here,getting knowledge
Watching the animals are healthy makes me satisfied,” Kamesan said
“It’s sad that many people die
Because it’s like caring for your livestock,” he continued
Because it has proven to benefit himself and the community around DD Farm Pundong
the father of two children also hopes that the cage in Yogyakarta will be broader with livestock that will increase
the more people are helped and the economy is lifted
“The hope is that this cage will not become extinct
and get bigger so that it can empower more people
There continue to be many who benefit from this cage,” Kamesan said

YOGYAKARTA — Poverty still remains a thorny problem for the Indonesian people until now
The helplessness that hits the ‘bottom’ community becomes one of the factors that causes poverty to never be overcome
as a humanitarian organization that also serves the welfare of the people
Dompet Dhuafa also strives to help our beloved country to unravel and solve these problems
One of these efforts is realized in the Program Sentra Ternak (the Livestock Center Program), DD Farm
which aims to create jobs while creating livestock entrepreneurs
which will lead to increasing the economic ability of the community
DD Farm runs by recruiting benefit recipients with mustahiq criteria to work in the pen for two years. Not only working, they are also given knowledge and training about animal husbandry. Furthermore, after two years, the benefit recipients will get capital in the form of a number of domba/kambing (sheep/goats) to apply their knowledge by running their own livestock business

DD Farm has been established in 12 points throughout Indonesia
One of them is in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY)
namely DD Farm Pundong located in Panjangrejo Village
DD Farm Pundong also recruits the surrounding community who are then referred to as pen subordinates (ABK) to become workers and learn about animal husbandry there
One of the benefits of DD Farm Pundong has been felt by Sudigda (51)
a benefit recipient who became a pen subordinate there
Sudigda said that he also became a breeder who helped DD Farm Pundong grow
“It’s been more than a year as a pen worker
I also participate in starting from the beginning here (DD Farm Pundong),” said Sudigda

Sudigda worked as a farmer and cattle breeder
because he had to wait for the harvest first
you harvest at least once every four months,” explained Sudigda
Sudigda admitted that he did not have the knowledge to care for and raise cows
little by little Sudigda began to have knowledge about how to breed livestock
I’m also provided with the foundation of animal husbandry.”

but the villagers just know how to feed them
I get knowledge from here (DD Farm) to only feed the livestock in the morning and evening,” he said
Sudigda also told about the ups and downs during his time as a breeder at DD Farm Pundong
He also expressed his hopes for the future
after receiving training and knowledge of breeding livestock from DD Farm
“It’s nice to be able to raise so many sheep
it’s already very joyful in my heart
The grief is due to lack of infrastructure
so sometimes it disrupts the supply of food
So it takes extra energy to drop the food,” said Sudigda
this can develop even better and continue to be useful for the surrounding environment and the wider community,” he concluded
