today approved the first package of works on the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Metro for the construction of the M2 line depot in Petah Tikva
service and maintenance garage for the Metro's trains and carriages with infrastructure including offices and parking
earthworks will prepare the land for the project
The laying of the cornerstone for the project is expected to take place soon
after tractors would have already begun work
The Petah Tikva depot will serve the M2 line
for which expropriation orders were recently issued for apartment buildings in central Tel Aviv
The line will extend underground over 26 kilometers with 22 stations from Holon and central Tel Aviv to Givatayim
and will end in the Segula Industrial Zone
where work is beginning on construction of the depot
National Licensing Authority planner Ron Rokach said
"This is the first work package for the construction of the Metro system
which is being filed for approval by the Subcommittee for Detailed Planning Documents
Additional work packages to advance work on other lines and sections have been filed for coordination with the National Licensing Authority
These will soon be submitted for approval by the committee and will allow construction of the remaining Metro lines."
despite the positive mood created by the start of the work
transport industry figures are concerned that the government's NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System
will not meet the schedule for publishing tenders for the construction of the line's excavations
This is because NTA has planned only one exit for each of the 109 Metro stations
while the requirements of the planning institutions were to plan several exits from each station
as is customary in similar systems around the world and to facilitate use for passengers
NTA has been required to plan exits from the stations again
the company will not be able to publish the tenders that the entire market is preparing for
and it is doubtful whether there are enough civil engineering companies in Israel to handle construction of the enormous project alongside other projects in which they are already involved

Maccabi’s Serbian Head Coach made several changes from the side that won 3-2 at Teddy stadium with Tyrese Asante and Roy Revivo returning to the right-back and left-back positions
Stav Lemkin and Nemanja Stojic lined-up as the two central defenders to complete Maccabi’s back-four in front of goalkeeper Roi Mishpati
Joris van Overeem who scored his second goal for Maccabi in Jerusalem kept his place as the anchorman right behind Gabi Kanichowsky and Dor Peretz who led the team out with the captain’s armband
Osher Davida and Weslley Patati supplied the width in Lazetic’s formation while Dor Turgeman led the line aiming to add to his tally of 5 league goals and nine in all competitions

Petah Tikva found themselves in front thanks to a goal by Vitaly Demascan who fired home Niv Yehoshua’s cross
Maccabi came close to level the score on 13 as an Osher Davida cross fell to Weslley Patati who failed to connect before Roy Revivo flashed a right-foot volley wide of the target
Petah Tikva silenced Bloomfield stadium as the visitors doubled their lead after Damascan was given the time and space to send a powerful low drive that beat Mishpati from the edge of the area
In the 40th minute Maccabi’s claims for a penalty were waived by referee Ohad Asulin despite the fact a defender clearly pushed Dor Turgeman inside the area
Revivo reached the cross and headed straight at Petah Tikva’s keeper Marko Wolf
On the stroke of halftime Revivo was involved in then goal which cut the deficit and gave Maccabi a new lifeline
The left back carved Petah Tikva’s defense open with a through ball to release Gabi Kanichowsky
The diminutive midfielder sent a square ball into the path of Dor Peretz who slid in at the far post to edge the ball home and make it 2-1
Maccabi emerged for the second half determined to grab an equalizer

Joris van Overeem sent a Davida square ball over the crossbar deep inside injury time before Asulin blew the final whistle to end the contest

Osher Davida experienced a busy summer as he was part of the Israel national Olympic team that competed in France before rejoining Maccabi’s European qualifying campaign
As the opening match of the season against Hapoel Jerusalem was postponed due to the European campaign
Maccabi’s league opener will be against Maccabi Petah Tikva – the current Cup holders
Davida said of the side Maccabi played earlier this season in the Super Cup: “We know they are a tough opponent especially away
Even when we played them in the Super Cup the match wasn’t over until we scored the second inside injury time
Last season as well they eliminated us out of the State Cup
so hopefully we’d be prepared to try win the match right from the start.”
On the dynamics in the team following the departure of some veteran players and the effect it had on the dressing room
the 23-year-old said: “We didn’t have just one leader above everyone else last season but had a few
There were several leaders and some are still here in Eran (Zahavi) Dor (Peretz)
The atmosphere in the dressing room is amazing as it is fun to arrive every day and spend time with such teammates
We have a good connection between the youngsters and the experienced players which is an important component for a team.”
On the difference between life under Zarko Lazetic as opposed to Robbie Keane
added: “They are both attacking coaches as Maccabi Tel Aviv should always have
There is high pressure which the coach has been working on a lot and I hope we continue to improve
Last season we also applied to press high in most matches
I can’t place my finger on one point
But at the same tim we are enjoying ourselves a lot as training are of a high tempo and I think this is something both coaches brought
The small difference is that we feel there is a little more demand from us as we all know that if we take our foot off the pedal we could find ourselves sitting out
Everyone wants to play and at the end of the day this is healthy for a team”

The corridors in Intel Israel's development center have been much quieter these days
as the biggest wave of layoffs the company has ever known is about to be completed
and those remaining get used to a new reality
Former Intel Israel employees have told "Globes" that the situation at the chipmaker is the complicated one of an enterprise operating under pressure and feeling overwhelmed
due to an acute liquidity crisis at the global parent company
The company's share price has fallen 50% since the start of 2024
and the company's losses in the last quarter rose to $1.6 billion
the biggest private employer in the country
the layoffs began later than the rest of the world
and hit 15% and 20% of the company's 7,000 development employees in Israel
according to estimates by former employees who spoke to "Globes."
These numbers include those who left voluntarily as well as those who were fired
A rough assessment puts these numbers at between 1,000 and 1,400 Intel Israel development centers employees
The activities of the 4,000 employees at the Kiryat Gat production plant have not been affected
This means that the overall number of employees at Intel Israel will fall below the 10,000 mark
the company reported that it had exceeded 10,000 employees for the first time and until recently Intel Israel had 11,000 employees
Intel is comparable in size in Israel to Rafael
a government company that has 9,500 employees
while Microsoft Israel has over 3,000 employees
Employees remaining at Intel Israel talk of a drawn-out layoff process conducted without much transparency
causing expectation and frustration that Israelis are not used at other tech companies
and the process took place gradually in October and November
"What disappoints us most has been the lack of transparency - that we are not told the truth," a senior employee at the company tells "Globes." According to him
the current wave of layoffs has been the "biggest and cruelest" ever in Israel
he says the move has also hurt the employees who stayed
"Many managers knew a month in advance who was slated for layoff
An employee slated for layoff sits with his team
and the manager has to give him assignments when he knows what is to come - it was very unpleasant." He added
at all levels and from almost all departments
whose position was as a manager in the software field at the company's center in Haifa
tells Globes that the layoffs also hurt experienced development people like him
"There was diversity in those who were dismissed
some went because projects were closed and some because it was an opportunity for managers to get rid of certain people." However
he adds that overall in his opinion "The company was fair in terms of the layoffs."
An employee who is staying at the company tells "Globes" that although those who remain have a sense pf relief
"What is especially worrying is that it seems that the senior management continues to make crazy and bad decisions." According to him
the feeling is that the company has not stabilized yet
"The conduct over the exit from the crisis is very dispiriting," he says
Estimates are that the layoffs were conducted at all of Intel's development centers in Israel - Haifa
while some projects were more affected than others
Intel tried not to harm core processors activity
and instead chose to cut projects in the field of wireless and cellular communications and video cards
The patterns of the layoffs point to an interesting trend: a former employee who was fired says
"While many veterans accepted the voluntary retirement plan
young people were hardly touched because there is not much point in it as they do not have high salaries and there is no justification for firing them unless someone isn't functioning"
closing down projects was used as a reason for dismissal: "When it was a team leader who had half of the projects cut from him
Some people who worked on those projects were also fired." In the current situation
most of those fired had worked for the company for less than 10 years
The lengthy streamlining process in Israel was also accompanied by frequent changes in employment conditions and their deterioration
Intel informed development employees in Israel about the cancellation of the company's car leasing program
Employees with leased cars were required to find alternative transport solutions
if a change constitutes a substantial violation of employment conditions
Cancellation of the leasing cost about NIS 4,000 in some employees' salaries
One of the moves that provoked the most media coverage was that Intel decided to close coffee stations in the company's offices
a few weeks ago Intel employees worldwide discovered signs one morning announcing that they would no longer be able to obtain coffee except for a fee
provoked a wave of criticism and received widespread negative resonance and memes on social networks
Intel employees and managers saw this step
despite being a relatively small financial saving
as a worrying signal about the company's situation as well as a direct hit to morale
Intel has gone back on both of its decisions
new employees will receive offers for private leasing that is not financed by Intel
as is customary at most tech companies today
Intel responded: "As part of the extensive cost-cutting plan that we announced in August
we are forced to make difficult but necessary decisions
These are difficult decisions that we make
and we treat employees with sensitivity and respect
These changes support our strategy to become a leaner
with the aim of positioning Intel for long-term sustainable growth."

Arcademy
an Israeli startup specializing in integrating gaming into school curriculums
will launch in schools across Israel and the United States next year following a successful trial
The two-month-long trial program at nine schools in Petah Tikva registered positive feedback from both teachers and students
who used the platform for two to four hours a week.
Teachers reported that students actively engaged in their lessons
One teacher said the platform was “super easy” to use and helped transform learning into an interactive and immersive process
“Expanding Arcademy to the US marks a significant milestone in our mission to revolutionize education through gaming,” said Arcademy founder and CEO Alex Gold
Arcademy is first launching in American Jewish schools and then plans to expand to other schools as well.
“By targeting the vibrant community of American Jews
we aim to blend cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology
fostering a unique learning environment that resonates with their values and aspirations.”
Arcademy’s user-friendly platform seamlessly integrates with Minecraft
The platform provides teachers of grades K-12 with all the necessary tools and features needed to transform their classrooms through the medium of Minecraft Education
an educational version of the game designed for classroom use
Minecraft Education was previously reported to be difficult to use for those unfamiliar with the game
The Arcademy platform simplifies Minecraft Education’s interface for easy operation
The platform enables teachers to utilize the game to plan the lessons
track and analyze student engagement and learning process in real time
as well as personalize the learning experience for each student
It also ensures that educators have the critical insights needed to improve the performance of the students.
Arcademy’s platform can be integrated with other games as well
It is designed to be utilized both in the classroom and remotely.
“We believe that by leveraging the immersive and interactive nature of computer games
we can create exceptional learning experiences that lead to outstanding outcomes,” added Gold.
Before founding Arcademy, Gold led a project at Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem in which children constructed a Minecraft replica of the museum complex.

Israeli international with four senior caps joins organization on permanent transfer
2024) – Forward Idan Toklomati has joined the organization from Israeli club Maccabi Petah Tikva on a contract with Crown Legacy FC
The deal was completed before the close of MLS’ Secondary Transfer Window
has made 70 appearances for Maccabi Petah Tikva since his debut in 2022 as a 17-year-old
He has scored 17 goals and added seven assists across all competitions
“We’re very excited to welcome another young
international talent to Charlotte and Idan is a player we’ve been tracking for some time,” said General Manager Zoran Krneta
versatile forward who possesses a great mix of pace and technical ability
he has already amassed 70 appearances at the senior level and debuted for the Israeli national team in key European qualifiers
We’re delighted Idan chose our organization as the best place for his professional development and everyone at the Club welcomes him to Charlotte."
The forward helped his club earn promotion to the Israeli Premier League following a stellar 11 goal campaign in 2022/23 and proceeded to score five goals during his debut season in the topflight in 2023/24
Toklomati made his Israel national team debut last year and has four senior caps to his resume with all coming in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers
He was with Israel at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics as an alternate
The forward helped Israel to deep runs in multiple youth international tournaments
He played five matches as Israel made the semifinals at the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship
Toklomati featured in the final of 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship as Israel finished runners-up to England
Braga breezed into the Europa League third qualifying round after thrashing Maccabi Petah Tikva 5-0 in Bulgaria
Adrián Marín headed home Roger Fernandes’ free kick in the 29th minute and the Warriors scored two more goals before half-time
Bruma’s cross was converted by Roger Fernandes
the Israeli club then conceding from their own corner when a counter attack ended with Rodrigo Zalazar placing the ball past Marco Wolff
Plamen Galabov deflected Zalazar’s effort past Wolff in the 62nd minute
Amine El Ouazzani winning and converting a penalty in the dying minutes
The 5-0 victory came after Daniel Sousa’s side registered a comfortable 2-0 first leg win at the Quarry
The Warriors will now take on Swiss side Servette
the first leg to be played in Portugal next week
It was a slow start in a near empty Georgi Asparuhov Stadium
Guy Amos Dezent taking an early blow to the head which saw him unable to continue and replaced by Alon Azugi
Maccabi Petah Tikva created the first chance of the contest
Liran Hazan heading Luka Štor’s cross towards the top corner but unable to beat Matheus
Amine El Ouazzani couldn't keep a difficult chance down
but Braga took the lead in the 29th minute after Azugi was booked late shot on Adrián Marín
Roger Fernandes sent a dangerous free kick into the 18-yard box
Marín getting on the end of it and heading the ball past a despairing Marco Wolff
The Warriors had taken complete control of the contest
Marín’s cross met by El Ouazzani who hit the post
It would matter little with the lead doubled in the 41st minute. Marín was involved once again as he released Bruma down the left wing
the winger delivering a pinpoint cross to Roger Fernandes who made no mistake
The Israeli club were the architects of their own demise in added time when they conceded again
the goal coming from their own corner. Azugi had a shocker which saw Bruma race clear once again
Ricardo Horta unable to get a shot away but doing well to tee up Rodrigo Zalazar who steered the ball past Wolff
There was no respite for Maccabi in the second half and they found themselves 4-0 down in the 62nd minute
Zalazar’s hopeful effort was going wel wide
Plamen Galabov deflecting the ball past a helpless Wolff
Daniel Sousa used the opportunity to bring on Thiago Helguera
There was still time for Braga to make it 5-0 after El Ouazzani’s shot slammed into Andreas Karo
Referee Evangelos Manouchos showed no sympathy and pointed to the spot
El Ouazzani squeezing the ball under Wolff who should have done better
a fitting end to the tie for the goalkeeper
Braga were far too good for Maccabi Petah Tikva who proved they have no business being in the Europa League group stage
The Portuguese club were efficient in front of goal and punished errors from the Israeli side
Daniel Sousa used the opportunity to hand starts to Bright Arrey-Mbi and Jean-Baptiste Gorby at the expense of Serdar Saatci and João Moutinho
Arrey-Mbi couldn’t have asked for an easier debut as he competes with Robson Bambu and Saatci for the second centre-back spot next to Sikou Niakaté
Adrián Marín was heavily involved in the first half and has a firm grip on the left-back spot
The Spaniard hardly got a look in last season after being signed from Gil Vicente
sitting behind Cristián Borja all season long but now a starter ahead of summer signing Bartlomiej Wdowik
Rodrigo Zalazar was impressive in the first leg and will hope to continue his partnership with Moutinho in the middle of the pitch. Ricardo Horta still needs to find his role under Daniel Sousa but I expect the playmaker to take over sooner rather than later
It was great to see João Vasconcelos made his first team debut after seeing the youngster in action for Portugal at the 2022 UEFA European U17 Championship
Roger Fernandes appears to have put the contract dispute drama behind him and is playing with a smile on his face
Expect to see plenty of the 18-year-old on the right wing with Bruma owning the left side
Amine El Ouazzani got his first goal for the Warriors with Simon Banza nowhere to be seen
Braga could have a big problem with Roberto Fernández the only other recognized striker in the squad
By Matthew Marshall
Adrián Marín (Bartlomiej Wdowik 72’) - Jean-Baptiste Gorby
Rodrigo Zalazar (Thiago Helguera 64’) - Roger Fernandes (Gabri Martínez 64’)
Bruma (João Vasconcelos 72’) - Amine El Ouazzani

2024It was one of the largest attacks Hezbollah has launched against Israel
Israel called the killing of an Israeli-Moldovan rabbi in the UAE a 'terrorist incident'
This is a roundup of the latest developments from the conflicts in the Middle East on Sunday, November 24:
11/24/2024November 24, 2024Israel hopes to repatriate rabbi's bodyPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said in a statement regarding the murder of a Moldovan-Israeli rabbi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that it "will act with all means to seek justice with the criminals responsible for his death."
The statement comes after the UAE said it had arrested three suspects in connection with the killing.
An Israeli foreign ministry official told Reuters on Sunday that the body of the 28-year-old would be repatriated to Israel "hopefully tomorrow but it is not confirmed."
Netanyahu told a regular Cabinet meeting on Sunday that he was "deeply shocked" by the rabbi's death and praised the the cooperation of the UAE in the investigation, adding that ties between the two countries would continue to be strengthened.
11/24/2024November 24, 2024UAE arrests 3 over rabbi deathAuthorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said they have arrested three people suspected of murdering an Israeli-Moldovan rabbi
the Emirati Interior Ministry said on Sunday
Tzvi Kogan's body was found by security services in the Gulf Arab state
the Israeli prime minister's office and the foreign ministry said earlier Sunday
Neither Emirati nor Israeli officials provided any details about the circumstances of Kogan's murder
Israel has condemned the murder of the rabbi as an antisemitic "terrorist attack."
"The Ministry of Interior announced that the UAE authorities have arrested in record time the three perpetrators involved in the murder" an Emirati statement carried by the official WAM news agency said.
Kogan was described by the UAE's Interior Ministry as "a Moldovan national according to his identification documents at the time of entry into the UAE, where he lived as a resident."
The 28-year-old dual Israeli-Moldovan national was a representative of the Chabad Hasidic movement, an ultra-Orthodox Jewish group known for its outreach efforts worldwide.
11/24/2024November 24, 2024More than 250 projectiles fired into Israel, the IDF saysThe Israeli military (IDF) said around 250 projectiles had been fired by Hezbollah militants from Lebanon into northern and central Israel on Sunday, with some rockets reaching Tel Aviv.
Rescue workers say at least seven people had been injured by shrapnel.
The Israeli military said many of the rockets and missiles were intercepted, but others caused damage to houses in central Israel.
The Israel-Hezbollah conflict escalated in late September, almost a year after Hezbollah launched further strikes in support of Hamas following its October 7 attack on Israel.
Israel also struck Beirut's Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs on Sunday. It comes a day after it had carried out one of its deadliest and most powerful strikes on the centre of Beirut.
11/24/2024November 24, 2024UN says 'extremely critical' to avoid Syria being dragged into warThe UN special envoy for Syria said on Sunday it was "extremely critical" to avoid the country being pulled into a regional war.
Since Syria's civil war erupted in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes in the country, mainly targeting the military and Iran-backed groups.
Those strikes have intensified since its conflict with Iran-backed Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon escalated in late September.
"We need now to make sure that we have immediately a ceasefire in Gaza, that we have a ceasefire in Lebanon, and that we avoid Syria being dragged even further into the conflict," said Geir Pedersen ahead of a meeting with the Syrian foreign minister in Damascus.
"We agree that it is extremely critical that we de-escalate so that Syria is not further dragged into this," he added.
11/24/2024November 24, 2024Iran announces new round of nuclear talks with European countriesIran said it would hold talks in the coming days with three of the countries that recently proposed a resolution against it with the UN’s atomic watchdog
the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
According to an Iranian foreign ministry spokesman
talks between the deputy foreign ministers of Iran
Germany and the UK would take place Friday
"A range of regional and international issues and topics
including the issues of Palestine and Lebanon
will be discussed," the spokesman said in a statement
The dispute over Iran's nuclear program has recently come to the fore again. After being censured by the IAEA, Tehran said it would activiate new centrifuges for the enrichment of uranium. According to experts, more than 90% purity is required for nuclear weapons. Iran insists its nuclear program is for non-military purposes only.
In 2018, then-US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. Efforts to revive the deal have stalled since then.

11/24/2024November 24, 2024Body of missing Israeli-Moldovan rabbi found, Israel condemns murderIsrael said on Sunday that the body of a missing Israeli-Moldovan rabbi has been found calling it a "heinous antisemitic terror incident."
Zvi Kogan, missing since Thursday, was murdered in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said
adding that Israel "will act with all means to seek justice with the criminals responsible for his death."
Kogan managed a kosher grocery store in Dubai and was an emissary for the Chabad Lubavitch movement
Israeli authorities reissued their advisory against nonessential travel to the UAE
urging those currently in the country to exercise caution regarding their movement and remain in secure locations
The death comes amid heightened tensions with Iran, which has a history of intelligence operations in the UAE.
11/24/2024November 24, 2024Israel investigates missing Israeli-Moldovan rabbi as 'terrorist incident'Israeli authorities are treating the disappearance of an Israeli-Moldovan rabbi living in the United Arab Emirates as a "terrorist incident," the prime minister's office said on Saturday.
Zvi Kogan, a representative for the ultra-Orthodox Chabad Hasidic movement in the UAE, has been missing since Thursday afternoon.
The Israeli prime minister's office said the Mossad spy agency was leading the investigation and added that there is "information indicating that this is a terrorist incident."
The Chabad Lubavitch movement, based in Brooklyn, New York, said in a statement that "emissaries are working closely with authorities as they investigate his disappearance."
Although the Israeli statement did not reference Iran, Iranian intelligence has previously been linked to kidnappings in the UAE.
Meanwhile, the Emirati Interior Ministry described Kogan as being "missing and out of contact" and said search operations were ongoing, involving "extensive measures."
The Foreign Ministry said it was in close contact with the rabbi's family.
The UAE normalized relations with Israel in 2020.
11/24/2024November 24, 2024Gunman killed in shootout near Israeli embassy in JordanA gunman was killed, and three policemen were injured in a shooting near the Israeli embassy in Jordan's capital early on Sunday
The gunman opened fire on a police patrol in the Rabiah neighborhood in Amman
and was shot dead after security forces engaged
according to the official Petra news agency
"The Public Security Directorate announced that it dealt with an incident of gunfire at a patrol operating in the Rabiah area in the capital
at dawn on Sunday," Petra news agency said
The injured officers are receiving treatment
Authorities asked residents to remain indoors as the incident unfolded
Witnesses reported heavy police and ambulance presence near the embassy
The area was cordoned off by police after gunshots were heard
The area is a frequent site of anti-Israel demonstrations
Jordan, home to many citizens of Palestinian origin, has seen large protests against the Gaza conflict
Sources have told Transfermarkt that Louisville City will receive a six-figure transfer fee.
The transfer came with some significant drama, however. Petah Tikva announced the transfer on their site before a deal was in place. "American-Jewish striker Wilson Harris landed in Israel last night to sign a contract until the end of the season with an option for another season,” a statement read
“He will undergo medical and naturalization tests to register as an Israeli.” Part of the story is that Harris is devoutly Jewish and has ambitions to play in Israel
Hence, sources with direct knowledge of the situation have poured cold water on the report. While it is true that Harris is in Israel, there is no agreement between Petah Tikva and the USL Championship side sources stressed
“The interest is there,” one source
who requested anonymity to protect its position within the organization
“But we are nowhere near a deal.” Then later this week the two sides managed to reach an agreement that met Louisville's evaluation of the player
Louisville were always open to make a deal happen. Indeed, when Harris signed a new contract in April 2024
it came with an understanding that the player would be allowed to leave for Europe if the right offer from a high-profile club came along. Harris had a standout season last year
scoring 19 goals and three assists in 32 regular season games
and was one of the better players in the USL Championship
Louisville are no strangers when it comes to moving talent to Europe
The club sold Joshua Wynder to Benfica and Jonathan Gómez to Real Sociedad
Harris is now set to join the list of players that Louisville have developed and then moved on for a transfer fee
Although the transfer came with some noise
it will ultimately grow the club's reputation for producing talent.

A unique collaboration between Aluma Infrastructures Fund and Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) in a tender issued by the Petah Tikva Development Fund will make the city's Shlomo Insurance soccer stadium the country's first smart 5G stadium
which will cost up to NIS 3.5 million to install
The project's concept is to deploy innovative 5G technology experiments in the stadium
there are startups interested in the project that want to put cameras on the players' bodies and allow spectators in the stadium and watching on TV at home to see the action through the players own eyes
Another technology will allow home viewers who buy tickets to watch the match in 3D
Israel's 5G deployment is based on Non Standalone (NSA) technology
an intermediary stage in the development of 5G that allows the enlargement of broadband for end units
Deployment of full standalone technology (SA) will only be possible in Israel if the mobile operators find it is economically worthwhile for them
Sources inform "Globes" that in recent months the Aluma Infrastructures Fund through Oren Gabay
who was until recently CEO of the CMG Network
has been investigating several alternatives for realizing 5G capabilities and reached the conclusion that sport in general and stadiums in particular will be among initial targets for the new technology
Aluma representatives proposed to several stadiums around Israel to be the first to implement the unique solution combining non-public networks (NPN) with an advanced 5G NSA deployment with a mobile edge computing (MEC) processing and unique management system
The first to adopt and realize the potential of the idea and issue a tender was Petah Tikva Development Co
hosts the HYPE sports innovation technology incubator
Sources inform "Globes" that other stadiums in Israel have also expressed interest in the model and are soon expected to begin implementing it

Maccabi arrived at Hamoshava stadium in Petah Tikva for the ONE ZERO League MD18 encounter with local side Hapoel
On the back of last week’s 4-2 victory over Hapoel in the Tel Aviv derby that ended a three match winless streak
Robbie Keane’s charges have a three point lead at the top of the table with 42
Second from bottom Hapoel Petah Tikva that were beaten 2-0 at Bloomfield were both teams met earlier this season
have 14 points having won 3 drawn 5 and lost 9
Maccabi bought their entire allocation as around 6000 yellow and blue fans filled up the east section of the sold out Petah Tikva stadium
The atmosphere saw Robbie Keane’s charges start the match on the front foot with Dor Turgeman looking lively in the opening minutes as the young forward dribbled into the box through a maze of Petah Tikva defenders but couldn’t pull his trigger and release a shot
Twelve minutes from the start a Turgeman dangerous cross from the right sailed across the face of goal eluding both Petah Tikva’s defense as well as Ofir Davidzada who tried making contact at the far post
Matan Baltaxa on his first start as the left side central defender
showed his aerial skills every time Petah Tikva kept launching the ball towards Fortune Bassy
Right on the half hour Petah Tikva came close as Ofek Osher blasted a shot which was deflected by Enric Saborit for a corner
The resulting corner saw Roi Elimelech leap above Maccabi’s defense and send a powerful header which was saved by Roi Mishpati
Eran Zahavi flashed a right foot shot from inside the area just wide of the far post
Zahavi and Turgeman then had their efforts blocked by Petah Tikva’s defenders at the goalmouth before Omer Katz recovered in the last second to catch Turgeman’s volley
Zahavi came even closer as his left foot curling shot from the edge of the area on 42 struck the crossbar and with no goals scored
Nael Oudah’s halftime whistle sent both teams into the dressing rooms
With no changes after the interval Maccabi began the second half just like the first one this time Joris van Overeem delivered the cross from the byline with none of the players able to get on the end of
Avishai Cohen then teed up Gabi Kanichowsky on the edge of the area but the 26-year-old’s shot wasn’t powerful enough to beat Katz
In the 56th minute Idan Nachmias limped off clutching his hamstring and while Dan Biton was preparing to get on Zahavi tried catching Katz off guard
But the veteran marksman’s powerful long range effort that started to dip
was punched out by the Petah Tikva custodian
A Kanichowsky cross in the 73rd minute picked Dor Peretz whose volley from the edge of the area resulted with last gasp goalmouth clearance by Ya’ar Zambrovsky
Kanichowsky was booked by Oudah for dessent after protesting a decision on 75 before Keane made a double substitution as he introduced Revivo for Davidzada and Kiko Bondoso for van Overeem
Turgeman almost exploited a mistake in Petah Tikva’s defense as he was gifted the ball to race clear through but Zambrovsky recovered with a tackle before the Maccabi forward could release his shot
Revivo could have done better as he rose unchallenged from the center of the area to head the resulting corner over the crossbar
Maccabi kept pushing forward trying everything they could to try and carve an opening with Zahavi coming closest in the 90th minute as Kanichowsky’s cut back fell to him inside the box
But Zahavi’s shot which finally managed to beat Katz struck the inside of the post and bounced out
The fourth official signalled 6 minutes of added time with Zahavi heading a cross over the crossbar as it seemed like it wasn’t going to be Maccabi’s night
Maccabi returned to Bloomfield stadium for the early Saturday kickoff match against newly promoted side Hapoel Petah Tikva aiming to record another victory which would keep the side at the top of the table
With 10 points from the opening 4 league matches and an impressive 13-2 goal tally
Robbie Keane made no changes to the side that beat Hapoel Tel Aviv 5-0 in midweek
Roi Mishpati kept his place in goal with Enric Saborit and Nir Bitton lining-up as the two central defenders in front of him
Yvann Macon on the right and Roy Revivo on the left completed Maccabi’s defensive back-four
Joris van Overeem in the anchorman role was joined in midfield by Dor Peretz who scored a brace and Dan Biton who contributed a goal and an assist in the derby
Gabi Kanichowsky and Felicio Milson started once again as the two wide men with Eran Zahavi spearheading the attack and leading the team out with the captain’s armband
Maccabi held a ceremony to three of its former players: Noah Reznik who celebrated 90
as well as Etey Shechter and Avi Rikan who played for 3 and 8 seasons at Maccabi respectively
Maccabi opened the match on the front foot and came close to score with less than two minutes on the clock
Dan Biton slid the ball through to Eran Zahavi who broke into the area before forcing Petah Tikva’s keeper Omer Katz to a double save
Biton curled a free kick which fell to Enric Saborit whose flick shaved the base of the post and rolled out for a goal kick
In the 12th minute Milson was tripped in the box and remained on the ground while referee David Fuxman waved play on
But the intervention of VAR saw Fuxman reverse his decision and award Maccabi a penalty
Zahavi stepped-up but his dual with Katz saw the former Maccabi youth academy keeper dive to his left
save the spot kick and deny Zahavi from opening the score
Milson continued to look lively as the Angolan winger’s trickery in the 25th minute allowed him to skip past two defenders and charge into the box
Milson’s dangerous cross which sailed across the face of goal
was cleared by a Petah Tikva defender before Zahavi could head it Home from close range
Maccabi continued to dominate as three minutes later Gabi Kanichowsky tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the area which rocketed over the crossbar
The visitors’ first serious threat on goal came in the 38th minute when Fortune Bassey blasted a right foot shot that forced a reaction from Roi Mishpati with the ball narrowly missing the target
As both coaches made no changes after the break
Maccabi emerged for the restart aiming to break the deadlock
Three minutes later Kanichowsky was brought down inside the area by Matan Gosha as Fuxman didn’t hesitate and pointed at the spot
Zahavi stepped-up to take the penalty which Katz saved once again this time with his feet
But the referee assistant spotted Petah Tikva’s keeper stepping off his line and signaled a retake
Zahavi didn’t hesitate and as opposed to his previous two attempts blasted the penalty home to finally open the scoring
Zahavi came close to double his tally on the night as the veteran marksman turned on the edge of the area and snapped a fierce low drive which struck the base of the post
In the 68th minute Milson charged into the area and sent a cross from byline which fell to Biton whose attempt of a chip just missed the target
At the opposite end Petah Tikva managed to get the ball in the back of Mishpati’s net only for the goal to be disallowed for offside rescuing Nir Bitton from an own goal
Robbie Keane made his first change in the 73rd minute as Avishai Cohen replaced Yvann Macon at right-back
Rikan received a standing ovation from Maccabi fans as the Petah Tikva midfielder bowed out on 77
Keane made another change introducing Eyal Golasa for van Overeem and Dor Turgeman for Biton
The impact was almost instant as Maccabi increased their lead with Milson releasing Zahavi whose chip was headed in by Turgeman at the back post
Roy Revivo and Milson were replaced on 86 by Ofir Davidzada and Osher Davida who were both introduced for the closing stages
In the 89th minute Turgeman came close to score his second and Maccabi’s third but after skipping past two Petah Tikva defenders the 19-year-old’s shot was caught by Katz
The final whistle confirmed Maccabi’s fourth victory in five matches as the team will turn their attention to Thursday’s trip to Gent in the Conference League before returning to face Hapoel Jerusalem at Teddy on Sunday
and the group began to raise funds for the erection of a beit knesset in the neighborhood

Print BEIRUT — Hezbollah fired about 250 rockets and other projectiles into Israel on Sunday
wounding seven people in one of the militant group’s heaviest barrages in months
in response to deadly Israeli strikes in Beirut while negotiators pressed on with cease-fire efforts to halt the war
Some of the rockets reached the Tel Aviv area in the heart of Israel
an Israeli strike on an army center killed a Lebanese soldier and wounded 18 others in the southwest between Tyre and Naqoura
saying that the strike occurred in an area of combat against Hezbollah and that the military’s operations are directed solely against the militants
Israeli strikes have killed over 40 Lebanese troops since the start of the war between Israel and Hezbollah
even as Lebanon’s military has largely kept to the sidelines
condemned the latest strike as an assault on U.S.-led cease-fire efforts
bloody message rejecting all efforts and ongoing contacts” to end the war
Hezbollah began firing rockets, missiles and drones into Israel after Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack out of the Gaza Strip ignited the war there. Hezbollah has portrayed the attacks as an act of solidarity with the Palestinians and Hamas. Iran supports both armed groups.
World & Nation
For those determined to stay out of the fight between Hezbollah and Israel, the war in Lebanon can feel at a remove.
Israel launched retaliatory airstrikes at Hezbollah, and in September the low-level conflict erupted into all-out war as Israel launched airstrikes across large parts of Lebanon and killed Hezbollah’s top leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
The Israeli military said about 250 projectiles were fired Sunday, with some intercepted.
Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service said it treated seven people, including a 60-year-old man in severe condition from rocket fire on northern Israel, a 23-year-old man who was lightly wounded by a blast in the central city of Petah Tikva, near Tel Aviv, and a 70-year-old woman who suffered smoke inhalation from a car that caught fire there. In Haifa, a rocket hit a residential building that police said was in danger of collapsing.
The Palestine Red Crescent reported 13 injuries it said were caused by an interceptor missile that struck several homes in Tulkarem in the West Bank. It was unclear whether injuries and damage were caused by rockets or interceptors.
Sirens wailed again in central and northern Israel hours later.
Israeli airstrikes pounded central Beirut without warning on Saturday, killing at least 29 people and wounding 67, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Smoke billowed above Beirut again Sunday with new strikes. Israel’s military said it targeted command centers for Hezbollah and its intelligence unit in the southern suburbs called the Dahiyeh, where the militants have a strong presence.
Hezbollah has launched more than 100 rockets across a wider and deeper area of northern Israel, with some landing near the city of Haifa.
Israeli attacks have killed more than 3,700 people in Lebanon, according to the Health Ministry. The fighting has displaced about 1.2 million people, or a quarter of Lebanon’s population.
On the Israeli side, about 90 soldiers and nearly 50 civilians have been killed by bombardment in northern Israel and in battle following Israel’s ground invasion in early October. Around 60,000 Israelis have been displaced from the country’s north.
The European Union’s top diplomat called Sunday for more pressure on Israel and Hezbollah to reach a deal, saying one was “pending with a final agreement from the Israeli government.” U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein was in the region last week.
Josep Borrell spoke after meeting with Mikati and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, a Hezbollah ally who has been mediating with the group. Borrell said the EU is ready to allocate 200 million euros ($208 million) to assist the Lebanese military.
But Borrell later said that he did not “see the Israeli government interested clearly in reaching an agreement for a cease-fire” and that it seemed Israel was seeking new conditions. He pointed to Israel’s refusal to accept France as a member of the international committee that would oversee the cease-fire’s implementation.
The emerging agreement would pave the way for the withdrawal of Hezbollah militants and Israeli troops from southern Lebanon below the Litani River in accordance with the U.N. Security Council resolution that ended the monthlong 2006 war. Lebanese troops would patrol with the presence of U.N. peacekeepers.
Sheikh Naim Kassem, the acting leader of Hezbollah, said its military capabilities are still intact after weeks of heavy Israeli airstrikes.
With talks for a cease-fire and hostage release deal in Gaza stalled, freed hostages and families of those held marked a year since the war’s only hostage-release deal.
“It’s hard to hold on to hope, certainly after so long and as another winter is about to begin,” said Yifat Zailer, cousin of Shiri Bibas, who is held along with her husband and two young sons.
Around 100 hostages are still in Gaza, at least a third of whom are believed to be dead. Most of the rest of the 250 who were abducted in the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack were released in last year’s cease-fire.
Talks for another deal recently had several setbacks, including the firing of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who had pushed for a deal, and Qatar’s decision to suspend its mediation. Hamas wants Israel to end the war and withdraw all troops from Gaza. Israel has offered only to pause its offensive.
The Palestinian death toll from the war surpassed 44,000 last week, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its count.
On Sunday, six people were killed in strikes in central Gaza, according to AP journalists at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
