Adro, a New York-based fintech offering financial services to U.S. newcomers, recently raised $1.5 million in pre-seed funding to address this issue
CEO and co-founder Amarildo Gjondrekaj caught wind of the issue’s prevalence as a professor at multiple New York area universities
With a little digging into his contacts in the payments and banking space – he’s a payments vet with nearly seven years at Mastercard and another two at Harness
a nonprofit-focused fintech – Gjondrekaj found the issue at hand was an “information asymmetry problem.”
“Internationals moving in [are accompanied by] all of this data
They're some of the most vetted people on Earth as they get their visas through
but this information just never makes it to anyone else,” he said
It sits with the State Department on the visa side
Gjondrekaj co-founded Adro with Sara Schmitt
to bridge the gap so that when the student arrives
their accounts can immediately be activated
allowing money to move easily and for them to build a credit file
Adro partners directly with universities to get international students up to speed 90 days prior to arrival

to make life easier [as] they on-ramp America,” Gjondrekaj said
International students are a common target for financial scammers
so the schools and Adro also co-created education materials to arm them against crooks

Who were your investors and how much did you raise
Tell us about the product or service that Adro offers
We are a financial services platform that helps internationals establish their lives in the US
We give them access to checking and savings accounts
plus a marketplace of immediately useful partner services and products like SIM cards
The problem that internationals faced with getting access to banking products kept coming up in my classes
Students were being heavily vetted by the school before being given an acceptance offer
The US government vets them before issuing a visa
banks and other financial institutions don’t have access to the individual’s background
so internationals were largely invisible to them
I saw a lot of the challenges international students faced with accessing financial services compared to domestic students
to building credit while waiting for the arrival of their Social Security number
internationals were cobbling together solutions from multiple vendors
We work with internationals before they arrive in the US and pre-collect their information
This allows us to support them from the day they enter the country
with everything they need to start spending
Adro partners with organizations that are invested in the success of internationals
We work closely with universities and employers to provide account access and improve financial literacy
We’re different from larger banks and fintechs that mainly serve US citizens and permanent residents
in that we don’t require an SSN or credit history to apply for an account
What market does Adro target and how big is it

AADI is a coal business spin-off from PT Alamtri Resource Indonesia Tbk (ADRO)

especially supported by Asia's economic growth
Global economic conditions highly influence the characteristics of the coal business," Julius said at the BEI building on Thursday
AADI went through the public offering period from November 29 to December 3
with an IPO share price of Rp5,550 and a par value of shares of Rp3,125
consisting of 7,008,202,560 founder shares and 778,689,200 public offering shares
AADI has a market capitalization of Rp43.21 trillion
with funds raised during the IPO at Rp4.32 trillion
AADI's management revealed that all funds raised from the IPO would be used for several purposes
Forty percent of it will be used to provide loans to its subsidiary
another 15 percent will be used by the Company to repay part of the loans based on a loan agreement with PT Adaro Indonesia or AI
"The Company uses the remainder to repay ADRO for part of the principal on a loan based on a loan agreement dated June 24
2024," ADRO's management wrote in the IPO prospectus

Nearly two years have passed since the debut of the BMW M3 and M4
but tuners are still trying to “fix” the controversial kidney grille by introducing aftermarket bodykits
Adro gave an early facelift to the M3 and the M4
including a sharper nose and a carbon-fiber bodykit created with the help of a former Mercedes-Benz designer
Unlike other tuners that were limited to tweaking the inside of the grille, Adro created an entirely new front bumper. A direct comparison shows that the bodykit respects BMW‘s design language, going for OEM-style looks

Notice the wider but smaller kidney grille
and the reshaped bumper intakes retaining a similar style to the original
The new grille is 10 percent smaller than before
sporting a wider and narrower shape while it is positioned lower for a shark-nose effect
The kidneys grew further apart from each other
with their top end coinciding with the LED headlights
The lower bumper intakes are also reshaped
with the aerodynamic fins gaining a more aggressive angle and a separate lower intake above the pronounced carbon fiber splitter
Chief Designer at Adro who has previously worked for Mercedes-Benz and Rivian
said: “We had a specific goal and that was to fix all the wrong fundamentals of this front fascia and design a front the M4 deserves”
describing the M3 and M4 as the kings of high-performance sedans and coupes
The tuner didn’t mess up with the underpinnings of the BMW M models
This means that the lowered suspension and the aftermarket wheels you see in the gallery are not included in the package
The stock twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine produces 473 hp (352 kW / 479 PS) in the regular M3 / M4
a healthier 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) in Competition form
or up to 543 hp (550 PS / 411 kW) in the M4 CSL
Depending on the configuration power is transmitted to the rear wheels or to all four wheels through the rear-biased M xDrive system
Adro’s BMW M3 and M4 will debut at the 2022 SEMA show. The tuner will start accepting pre-orders for the kit in November. Those who will pre-order the kit get discounted prices
interested parties will need $3,100 for the front bumper
and another $3,100 for the swan-neck rear wing for a total of $11,900
ADRO debuts a carbon fiber widebody aero kit that increases downforce and adds presence
They've turned their attention toward the GR86 and developed a complete
multi-piece widebody aero kit produced in wet carbon fiber
Much more than just oversized fenders and fancy wheels
ADRO's design enhances the look of the car while also improving its aerodynamic efficiency
The process began by taking a full 3D scan of the new GR86 and bringing in ADRO's aerodynamicists team for a deep dive into CFD analysis
Using fiber-reinforced polymer and wet carbon fiber together with computational fluid dynamics
this new aero package is said to grant a dramatic increase in downforce to improve cornering performance
Production is complex and each kit will be hand produced with more than 40 hours needed for completion and approval before being shipped
which is about five inches longer than the factory Toyota piece
completely changes the look of the front end
Massive side vents accompany a large main grille opening with a set of "fangs" that protrudes forward
especially toward its lower half where it's met by a splitter
An additional five inches of width are added to the bumper ends and met by swooping front over fenders with integrated vents at their rears
Rather than a line that travels straight from the top of the fender out toward the tires
The two-piece sideskirts connect the front and rear and carry an angular splitter just underneath
The rear quarter panel flares take on a similar shape to their front counterparts
and equate to an additional six inches of width as compared to the factory body
All four corners require cutting and drilling
so this sort of modification is a true commitment
The ADRO GR86 widebody kit will retail for $4,750 and will be made available for pre-order soon, with an official launch taking place next month at the annual SEMA show.

ADRO’s chief designer is Davis Lee, former automotive designer whose work includes such stunning cars as the Mercedes-Mayback 6 Concept and Hyundai Ioniq 5
While the brand’s head of aerodynamics is Scoot Beeton
former aerodynamicist for the Williams F1 team
So their team is equipped with the knowledge and talent to make great looking body kits that also seriously improve aerodynamics
While ADRO’s BMW M3 and M4 hasn’t been released just yet, that will come at SEMA next month
the brand did release some teaser photos and this kit is going to make the M3 and M4 better looking than ever before
The ADRO body kit comes with an entirely new front bumper
that even comes with a new grille design (we’ll get to that in a minute)

cars are 3D scanned to ensure an exact fit but then plasticine clay models are used to mock up the parts on the cars
to make sure then fit perfectly and look right
you can see the ADRO bumper next to the original bumper and the ADRO grilles are entirely different
giving each kidney grille a more Superman logo-look
which is a drastic improvement over the stock grilles
ADRO proves what I’ve been saying since the M3 debuted—the size of the grilles ain’t the problem
in combination with the rest of the bumper’s front air intakes
I’d be smashing whatever pre-order button I needed to

quickly led to the duo fabricating custom aero pieces together as a hobby
With demand for their bespoke creations increasing

Chief Technology Officer Sean Yoon has a Masters in Racecar Aerodynamics from Southampton University
in Aerospace Engineering from KAIST University
He was poised to join Ferrari's F1 efforts as their aerodynamicist prior to the Lehman Brothers' collapse and instead has worked with tech giants like LG Electronics as well as helping to pioneer automatic content recognition technology
before recently aligning himself with his automotive passion by leading ADRO's aerodynamics team
What the group came up with for the Model 3 is a complete
It all starts at the front end with a lip that takes over the lower portion of the rather bland factory bumper
ADROs adds a pair of angular pillars that slash through the main grill opening before making a sharp turn outward toward the wheel wells
while creating a second tier that acts as an integrated splitter
Make the turn visually and note the car's profile has been updated with ADRO's side skirts
which begin with a winged portion just behind the front wheels and morph into a flat side diffuser that kicks outward just a tad before meeting the rear quarter panel
Keep following that sleek carbon fiber line as it transitions to the group's rear diffuser that wraps around the bumper and features a series of fins
rounded spoiler that stretches the car's deck just a few inches
the aero additions look cool and do a great job of enhancing rather than overpowering the car's original look
and their dry carbon construction is incredibly light
They also boost the Model 3's aerodynamic efficiency in the form of a 3.25 percent reduction in overall vehicle drag
Add to that increased downforce to the tune of 846 N
obsessive use of computational fluid dynamics
and countless hours of testing make a whole lot of sense
The military precision of ADRO's fibrous concoction sees its greatest contrast when attached to CJ's self-made Tesla
a project that he notes was entirely completed on his own
His solitary confinement allowed his mind to run wild with all sorts of personal touches
like the SpaceX Falcon 9-inspired paint and alien-infused airline treatment on his 5-gallon air system that ties into a freaky-deaky galaxy frunk and headliner makeover
There are LED strips and starlight additions throughout the car and just as he planned from the beginning
CJ's finished product is truly a showstopper
it's not the high-power engine swap into a familiar chassis with "rare" JDM goods that somehow don't seem at all rare tacked on to a dozen other cars at any given car show
this Tesla Model 3 is truly an extension of CJ Cardinalli
Some are going to scoff and say its ruined
as CJ serves as Director of the Socal chapter of the "Ruined Tesla" car club

You’ll have to fork out another $2,250 for this lightweight diffuser lending the rear a beefy look
The $1,700 side skirts are also custom-made for the G87 from the same material
Should you want an M2 on steroids straight from BMW, you’ll have to wait until 2025. Although the CS will have a meaner body kit, it won’t look as aggressive as ADRO’s build. Alternatively, there are M Performance Parts tailored to the G87

Owners of the Tesla Model 3 may soon be able to order a dramatic widebody kit for the car that dramatically overhauls the exterior of the EV and makes it look significantly more aggressive

We have no doubt that the kit will be a little too excessive for some Model 3 owners but there is a growing aftermarket scene for Tesla vehicles and we’re sure there will be people willing to pre-order this kit
This kit is not the first time that Adro has worked its magic on the Tesla Model 3
the tuner unveiled a series of carbon fiber aerodynamic accessories for the Model 3 and Model Y designed to reduce drag
and a rear diffuser and is said to reduce drag in the Model Y by 4.4% and the Model 3 by 3.2%

The car has undergone a comprehensive transformation
and now boasts a multitude of performance and aesthetic enhancements

But as much as these aero bits are quite literally bolted on, this isn’t the usual story of bolt-on bits. When the company name is, no joke, Aerodynamic Development Race Optimization, you know the products are going to be as focused and scientific as that name suggests.
And also as dry, as it turns out. See, one of the big selling points of ADRO’s Model 3 aero kit is that its parts are made of ‘dry’ carbon-fibre as opposed to ‘wet’. This is the level of nerdiness we’re dealing with here. Just to be clear, we’re all for it.
But what’s the hoopla about ‘dry’ carbon fibre, anyway? Well, if you thought regular carbon fibre was strong and lightweight, it’s actually a bit wet by comparison. And yes, we’ll see ourselves out, but would appreciate it if you held the door all the same.
So to find out the whole package you see here – front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler – costs a combined $5,500 USD is one of those rare moments these days where something actually seems like good value.
Especially when ADRO claims the kit improves the Model 3’s aero efficiency by 3.25 per cent over the standard car (no word on whether that number’s due to the test car having the ground clearance of a turtle) while generating another 846N of downforce. And yes, they’re measuring in Newtons. Because science.
Newtons are a measure of force, while kilograms – what most manufacturers quote downforce figures in – are actually a measure of mass. So if we assume, then, that car manufacturers are talking about kilogram-force instead, a quick bit of maths means the ADRO aero package adds 86.27kg F of downforce.
Not exactly on par with an F1 car, but then it... well, isn’t one. It’s a tuned EV. Marvellous how normal that sounds, isn’t it?

It’s just such an aggressively bold design that doesn’t seem to work with the rest of the car
the issue with the M3/M4 grille isn’t its size
Proving that we aren’t crazy is the new aftermarket aero company ADRO
who just released its comprehensive bumper and grille kit for the G80 BMW M3 and M4
ADRO recently teased the new kit for the G80/G82 generation
proves it’s a massive upgrade over the standard cars and it’s what the standard cars should have looked like from the beginning
The ADRO kit is a comprehensive aero kit that replaces almost the entire front fascia
the ADRO grille is still big but it’s far more cohesively designed into the front end
and it visually lowers the front end of the car
So while it’s less in-your-face than the stock grille
it actually makes the car look sportier and more athletic
it actually looks a bit similar to the grille on the upcoming BMW 3.0 CSL
ADRO refocused all the air intakes and every line in the front bumper to fit the shape and curves of the grille
The G80 BMW M3 is a brilliant car to drive but it’s let down by its front end design
who previously worked on the Mercedes-Maybach 6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5
is also aware of the brand’s history of making subtle
handsome designs and wanted to bring that back
“We had a specific goal and that was to fix all the wrong fundamentals of this front fascia and design a front the M4 deserves,” said ADRO chief designer Davis Lee
“The M3 and M4 are considered the king of high-performance sedans
and BMW has never missed the mark with their design throughout the history of M3/M4
they’ve created a fundamentally wrong front with the latest generation of the M3/M4
and we decided it was our opportunity to fix this.”

The front bumper kit alone is $3,500 and the carbon front lip is an additional $800
All of the parts will be shown at SEMA in November
it’s a small price to pay for fixing the design of the M3 and M4
they’re deserving of a better looking front end
We’re assured the eye-catching new additions are built from dry, “super-premium” prepreg carbon fibre, as opposed to wet. Clearly, wet carbon fibre is for rookies.
The full suite encompasses all the usual suspects built from this stronger, very premium CF: a new front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. The kit claims to reduce drag on the Model Y by 4.4 per cent, and by 3.2 per cent on the Model 3. Looks like a very subtle suspension upgrade is also part of the package.
ADRO confidently says the new kit not only reduces drag, but improves handling and (interestingly) acceleration on both its Teslas. “Our clients crave designs that are unique to them while improving both form and function,” said ADRO technology boss Sean Yoon.
“Our focus is on creating a special vehicle aesthetic that matches their personality while serving to improve vehicle performance.”
You can buy the fully kitted cars – the Model 3 staring at $52,490 or $68,490 for the Model Y – or just get the kit on its own. That’ll set you back $5,500. We're yet to find out whether those bright pink wheels are part of the purchase price, though.

The company said that it is now accepting pre-orders for the full Model Y and Model 3 carbon fiber customs and the parts are expected to be ready this summer
Prices start at $68,490 for the fully modified Model Y and $52,490 for the similarly improved Model 3. If you just want the body kits, for which ADRO is also accepting pre-orders, they can be had for $5,500.

And while that’s something we’d usually frown on – after all
road speed limits aren’t exactly getting higher any time soon – it somehow works in the case of the GR86
And it’s clearly something a few people think could go a few steps further

you’d better believe it’s not just a case of visual tinsel
ADRO claims a full 90kg of downforce at 110mph
as well as less drag due to a motorsport-esque swan-mount rear wing
extra mass of the kit (apparently about 110kg) and belly-scraping ground clearance
we’re tipping cornering speeds might have moved up by a few miles per hour
Which then leads us to wonder about the newly embiggened
more powerful and more torquey 2.4-litre engine
While the original 2.0 was a touch on the underwhelming side for the car it powered
higher cornering speeds and a lower centre of gravity
So, who’d like to even the playing field with a 300bhp GR86? Er, that’d be Toyota itself actually...

in line with the need for lighter car bodies for optimal EV performance
This demand will be supplied by the company's subsidiary
which operates as a green aluminum producer
"The demand for aluminum for EVs must be lightweight because the batteries are heavy
We will supply both domestic and export markets," he explained
the company aims to have a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of up to 1.3 gigawatts (GW) located in Mentarang Induk
The project is expected to be completed by 2030
and the company is currently in preparation.

Just years after Woman’s Day reported he’d shockingly run off with his brother’s wife
we can now reveal the fitness fanatic has been charged with fraud and sentenced to imprisonment
was prosecuted in the Richlands Magistrates Court in Queensland after pleading guilty to failing to disclose earnings and property after filing for bankruptcy in 2015
During his court appearance the unsympathetic judge refused to accept Adro’s naive excuse
knowing all too well this wasn’t the first time the TV reality star had attempted to thwart authorities
Adro won the first season of The Biggest Loser in 2006
In June 2017 Adro was convicted of a bankruptcy offence after he allegedly racked up an $8000 debt with Citigroup

Holding no punches, is he? Anyway, the ADRO bits are made from both carbon fibre and something called Thermoplastic olefin (TPO). All of the standard sensors and cameras can remain if you decide you like this look better, and the factory mounting points are all still used.
Apparently the front bumper will start from $3,500 after it’s launched at SEMA 2022, and the carbon fibre front lip will be $800 extra. There’s no word yet on prices for the other bits, but - given the furore when it was announced - no doubt you will have thoughts. Let us know what they are below.

Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO)

have signed a partnership agreement to support ADGM’s international members through digital visa services and other initiatives
The ADGM community comprises 4,200 global companies
tech startups and leading financial institutions
that have established their headquarters and branches in the capital city of the UAE
there will be a provision of a number of digital services related to visas via ADGM’s web portal ACCESSADGM
including the support of nominations for the Abu Dhabi Golden Visa
and exploration of new opportunities that will benefit the two sides
The agreement will see ADRO support the nomination process for Abu Dhabi Golden Visas
ADGM will also provide ADRO access to a list of global companies so that it can provide exclusive benefits for Abu Dhabi Golden Visa holders
The two parties will collaborate to highlight the strategic initiatives of ADRO
including the promotion of the Abu Dhabi Golden Visa and other initiatives locally and internationally for attracting and retaining top talent in the emirate

But as he introduces his beloved new baby to Woman’s Day
Adro also exclusively reveals his sensational new body and the extraordinary steps he took to turn himself into the man he always wanted to be
Eight weeks before baby Eden was born on November 30
Adro checked himself into hospital for the first of two operations that would rid him of the armfuls of sagging skin which were the legacy of his obesity
“When I came home from The Biggest Loser
speaking candidly about the complex emotions which surrounded his massive weight loss
“All my life as a fat guy I dreamed that if I lost weight
but my body was just as bad as when I started because my skin sagged so much
The first thing I saw when I looked down were these horrible flapping man boobs
With his wife Sam pregnant with their second child
was determined that he would — quite literally — be a new person by the time his son was born
Within weeks of the show ending he consulted four plastic surgeons and chose Sydney-based Dr Mark Kohout to perform the operations
“As soon as I’d started losing weight I knew I wasn’t going to be happy with all the wobbly skin
it allowed me to have closure on the obese person I’d always been.”
Initially doctors suggested a tummy tuck and a male breast reduction
“I had really saggy love handles on my back
my thighs were droopy and I had wobbly tuckshop lady arms
It wasn’t a case of wanting it removed
I wasn’t prepared to have it hanging around as a reminder of how I was — I have a TV program to remind me!”
Adro won The Biggest Loser title last April when he dropped a staggering 51 kilos from his 136.5kg frame after competing in the Network Ten series
One of seven children from an Italian family
he began stacking on the weight as a child thanks to rich meals and being forbidden from playing sport
“Even when I went on the show I didn’t think I’d lose the weight,” he admits
“I’d had it drummed into me for years that I had big bones or that I’d got the bad end of the gene pool.”
The Biggest Loser proved that wasn’t the case
despite leaving the show with a 32-inch waist and wearing a medium shirt
Adro couldn’t fully appreciate his new fit body
On October 3 he went into hospital for a circumferential body lift
“I was feeling nervous but the anaesthetist was brilliant and asked if I’d like something for the nerves
The next thing I knew was I was waking up and it was over.”
Although the operation had taken more than six hours
he was amazingly mobile and the only sign of the operation was a thin cut all the way round his abdomen with little suture strips over it
“From the very first second that I could move enough to see it
I run my hand across my abs (abdominal muscles) all the time because it’s not the sort of thing I ever dreamed I’d have.”
Adro returned to hospital for the gynecomastia (breast lift) and the removal of skin from his under-arms
Fifteen centimetres of skin weighing 200 grams was removed from each breast and the nipples were removed and then grafted back onto his chest
The operation took three and a half hours and afterwards he had to wear a protective vest
“There was a chance the nipples wouldn’t take and the doctor had warned me they would be black for three to four weeks
but within five days they were already pink on the edges,” says Adro
who credits his speedy recovery to his general fitness and use of vitamin supplements
Initially he had to be careful not to lift his three-year-old daughter Odessa
but now with the swelling nearly gone and only a little fluid retention
he’s delighted with what he calls “the new me”
“I feel brilliant,” he enthuses
stripping off his shirt without a hint of embarrassment
I would never have taken my shirt off at the beach or the pool
but now I walk around all the time with a bare chest
I now feel finished and I definitely got that closure I was after.”
One thing he wants to impress is that he didn’t have any liposuction or fat removal
“I know some people think I lost a bit of weight then used surgery to finish it off
I don’t want anyone to think I cheated.”
Adro’s surgery has already totalled $51,000
although he has only had to pay $25,000 because of the promotional benefits of the documentary he is making on his experience
Adro’s wife smiles across at him with pride
Sam says his saggy skin never bothered her and that the decision to have surgery was entirely his
“I was so scared with the first operation
I spent the whole day wrapped in a doona sitting on the lounge and waiting for a phone call from the doctor,” she says
she is delighted that he is now healthy and fit enough to really enjoy their children
“One image that will stay in my head forever is the first time Adro took Odessa to the play park after coming off the show
Previously he would sit on a bench outside
but this time he was playing in the tunnels for an hour and a half
When he came out he was smiling from ear to ear.”
While Adro says his new body makes him feel sexier
Sam says she also enjoys the emotional and spiritual development that has come with his weight loss
Adro regards his time on The Biggest Loser
particularly the challenging time at the holistic health retreat Camp Eden
as so significant that he named his son after it
“Camp Eden was a turning point for me
It was there that I confronted my demons and realised I was not going to be fat ever again
I wanted something that related to the new me and both Sam and I loved the name Eden.”
is a tribute to the show’s trainer Bob Harper
who Adro believes made the difference between success and failure
