Alcamo Capital has landed a tenant for a newly developed warehouse in Lawrence Township
inking a lease for more than 150,000 square feet under a deal arranged by Avison Young
Brokers announced Tuesday that CEVA Logistics will occupy more than half of the 261,646-square-foot building at 40 Enterprise Ave.
where the landlord has revitalized what was a blighted brownfield site just east of Route 1
That location helped attract the transportation and global supply chain solutions firm
as did the property’s 40-foot ceiling heights and a 30-year payment in lieu of taxes agreement that would yield cost savings
Stephen Gianis and Judy Troiano represented Alcamo Capital in the 150,272-square-foot deal
Chris Carragher and Kyle Eaton represented CEVA Logistics
“By engaging Avison Young to advise and execute the marketing of this newly developed building
we know we’ve not only delivered great value to our tenants
providing a great place to work for the surrounding labor force,” said Anthony Basile
Avison Young is now focused on leasing the remaining unit of 111,374 square feet
which has 33 trailer parking stalls and 21 dock doors
“This submarket is among the most competitive in the region in terms of attracting tenants
given the number of new construction buildings delivered and coming to the market
so securing CEVA Logistics was a priority for Alcamo Capital,” Giordano said
“Despite the market challenges upon initial delivery
we feel this lease represents a significant and positive outlook as leasing velocity in 2025 should continue to increase.”

Tricia Alcamo's personal challenges have shaped her empathetic leadership style as FanDuel's chief people officer
When Tricia Alcamo describes her employer
as “a hyper-growth company,” she isn’t exaggerating
The spark for that growth occurred in 2018
Supreme Court overturned a federal law that banned commercial sports betting in most states
a global sports betting and gaming operator
the New York City-based company’s portfolio includes gaming
FanDuel employs roughly 3,000 people—2,500 of whom have been hired since the start of the pandemic nearly three years ago
To help lead the HR function at the growing company
FanDuel hired Alcamo as its chief people officer in April 2022
we start stepping into the territory of what a larger organization needs—the scalable and global offerings that are different for a company of this size,” Alcamo says
Alcamo hired individuals for key senior roles the organization didn’t previously have
such as Corinne Bilerman as vice president of talent and development and Keita Young as head of diversity
Alcamo and her team of 80 (and counting) also led the creation of more-robust programs for leadership development and employee recognition
As the company increases the number of managers among its ranks
the new leadership development program will help them become more effective and inspirational in their roles
executives will acknowledge workers’ accomplishments across the company
and a tech platform will enable peer-to-peer recognitions and make the process less ad hoc
“We live the company’s principle of ‘we say thank you’ every day,” Alcamo says
we have to come up with ways to amplify those ‘thank-yous’ across the company.”
Even as FanDuel quickly hires people for technology
Alcamo maintains a leadership approach that sees and treats employees based on more than simply the roles they fill
“Tricia wants us to bring our whole selves to work
and it was important that I was still working as much as I was able—that they see me wrap a scarf around my head
put on high heels and go to work,” Alcamo says
“It was a signal to them that it would be OK
that as long as Mom still put on high heels and went to work
She also credits the support of American Express
her employer at the time: “American Express gave me the ability to craft a path through that incredibly difficult time and supported me in every way,” she says
who have much more going on than you see on the surface
Alcamo’s people-focused management style convinced FanDuel’s CEO Amy Howe that she had found the right person to head the company’s HR operations
“I was looking for a chief people officer who listens
who can work collaboratively across the organization
“I saw this in Tricia during our first discussion.”
Alcamo developed her ability to get stuff done at an early age
represented the first generation in their families to attend college
“Both my parents came from very humble backgrounds—they grew up with very little means in the Bronx,” says Alcamo
Her parents instilled a strong work ethic in Alcamo and her two older siblings
Alcamo took her first job delivering newspapers on her bicycle
At age 14—“the minute I could get my working papers and not work in the rain”—she got a job in a retail stockroom
Both of Alcamo’s parents died of cancer—her mother when Alcamo was 15 and her father when she was in her 20s
Alcamo’s own illness also focused her attention on going after the kind of job she wanted most
“It gave me clarity that I think was not there before,” she says
While Alcamo rose through the ranks during her almost 14 years at American Express
she yearned to head an entire human resource function
she left American Express and joined Spectrum Enterprise
as vice president and later group vice president of HR
working directly for the company’s president
I was responsible for developing and delivering the HR strategy for the business,” Alcamo says
where she worked for close to six years before joining FanDuel
Alcamo noticed that relatively few women held senior-level roles
So she launched a program to develop female leaders that helped increase the number of female vice presidents at the company
Alcamo considers that program one of the top accomplishments of her HR career
After earning a bachelor’s in English from Princeton University in 1996
Alcamo joined Deloitte as a management consultant
“I wanted to be in business but didn’t exactly know what that meant,” she says
“so management consulting was a perfect fit.”
Deloitte tapped Alcamo to help with an initiative to globalize the company’s recruiting process and make it more competitive
“I just fell in love with this work that was people-focused but also tied closely to the company’s strategic imperative,” she says
Alcamo returned to client-focused consulting but knew her heart was in HR
After she voiced her professional passion to a mentor at Deloitte
the organization created a recruiting-focused role for Alcamo in order to keep her with the organization
a mentor posed a simple question to Alcamo: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Alcamo knew the answer: chief people officer for a large company
The mentor wrote the names of four companies with strong HR reputations on a paper napkin and handed it to Alcamo
The mentor then advised her to find someone she knew at one of those companies to try and land a job
She reached out to someone at American Express and joined the company in 2002
taking on an HR manager role for the first time
Alcamo gained valuable insights along the way
she learned to surround herself with strong people leaders and trust them to lead their own teams
trusting my team to lead became more and more important,” she says
“Tricia lets her team use their expertise to figure things out and make recommendations
She’s interested in learning from the experts on her team,” she says
As Bilerman helped create FanDuel’s new leadership development program
she recognized and appreciated that Alcamo didn’t simply dictate a course of action—though she might have
‘I’ve done this before; let’s do that here,’ ” says Bilerman
who has known Alcamo since 2006 when they both worked for American Express
“But she listened to our ideas and then said
and here’s one piece that’s helpful to bring in.’ ”
Other leadership traits of Alcamo stand out among her colleagues
Tricia would reference nautical terms and sailing
‘Where is all of that coming from?’ ” Howe says
“She told me she was a competitive sailor and she is teaching her kids to sail
I knew she was the right person to captain the FanDuel ship.”
Competitive sailing requires focus and stamina
“and those are tied into how I operate at work.”
FanDuel will need Alcamo to help skipper not just its burgeoning employee population but also the still-evolving workplace
FanDuel transitioned from remote work to a team-based hybrid approach in which teams decide when they come into the office to collaborate
when and how of work and collaboration will continue to evolve—whether it’s in person
“We’ve only scratched the surface of what the future of work looks like,” Alcamo says
“HR has a role in leading that conversation.”

“You can only be good at a specific job on a big boat if you understand what all the other jobs are
“If you’re going to win in a sailboat race
you need 12 persons working together in perfect unison.”
Alcamo manages human resources for the 5,000 people within Spectrum Enterprise
and has worked hard to get them all moving together in perfect unison

It provides networking services and architecture to businesses across America

arriving two months after the massive merger between Time Warner Cable

“This role brought together the many different positions I had over the course of my career,” she said
Having studied mergers up close when she was in the merger-integration business at Deloitte Consulting just after college
Alcamo passed along key lessons to staffers after the rollup went down
“Accept the fact that integrations of that size are messy work,” she said
and you’re signing up for something that’s not the status quo.”
Alcamo also stressed that a merger allows forward-thinking employees to establish the kind of culture they truly want to work in
create the business strategy,” she said
“Rarely in a steady-state situation do you get to do that.”
Her overarching strategy to get everyone on the same page was to always think about
“Look at what the legacy companies bring to the table,” Alcamo said
“Put it all together and think about what works best for the company going forward.”
The smarter way to stay on top of the multichannel video marketplace
Alcamo has made a significant mark on the joined company

Alcamo was also behind Spectrum Enterprise’s Women’s Leadership Mentoring program
Women in leadership roles sign up to be “mentees” and are paired up with another female executive a level or two above them on the org chart
That nine-month program launched in January 2019
Alcamo and other Spectrum Enterprise leaders are contemplating what it will look like the next time around
“It provided us with a good framework to think about a broader mentorship program,” she said
Her Spectrum Enterprise colleagues said the company culture is richer with Alcamo overseeing HR
“She really empowers and supports our organization,” Tammy Zimmerman
senior director of human resources at Spectrum Enterprise
“You want to follow someone who believes in your capabilities and the capabilities of the organization.”

Alcamo used to sit in the lodge as her kids would ski
Alcamo describes herself as a binge-watcher of television
Handmaid’s Tale scares the heck out of me and The Crown was really compelling,” she said of series she recently binged
Alcamo is focused on how Spectrum Enterprise can better serve its clients
“I think about HR strategy and the talent we are attracting
and the kind of learning and development we are doing
with client centricity in mind,” she said
“The talent we need at Spectrum Enterprise is out there understanding our clients’ businesses and our clients’ needs
and helping to think about what kind of large networking solutions would meet those needs
Career Highlights: Led development of the HR strategy for Spectrum Enterprise following the merger of Charter

An investment firm has completed its first new building in New Jersey with the opening of a nearly 262,000-square-foot industrial property in Lawrence Township
joined brokers with Avison Young recently to debut the warehouse and light manufacturing facility at 40 Enterprise Ave
The development has repurposed what was a blighted brownfield site
noting that it will look to tap into the steady demand for modern e-commerce and logistics facilities
Avison Young has advised Alcamo Capital since the early stages of development and is marketing the property for lease
which allows Alcamo to maximize the site’s potential and provide the community with greater employment and revenue opportunities,” said Timothy Cadigan
“It’s great to work with a sophisticated client who recognizes the economic growth potential in our local market.”
Those on hand for the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony included Vin Basile
Also present were Lawrence Township Councilmember James Kownacki and Municipal Manager Kevin Nerwinski
as were Cadigan and fellow Avison Young Principal Matthew Turse and Matt Tracy
Brian Summers and Jerrell Kerzetski of RC Anderson
Avison Young said the 261,646-square-foot project would provide a home for an employer that may have otherwise overlooked the area in search of high-quality space
“We are delighted to welcome new tenants and celebrate the opening of this quality facility alongside our partners at Avison Young,” said Anthony Basile a principal with Alcamo Capital
“This team was the clear choice to oversee the leasing for Lawrence Logistics Center given the firm’s extensive market knowledge and experience in successful project lease-ups.”

RWE's renewable energy business in Italy is forging ahead: The company has completed the construction of its new onshore wind farm Alcamo II in Sicily
The green electricity produced by this wind farm has already been contracted to the Italian Sofidel Group on a long-term basis as part of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
Sofidel is one of the largest producers of paper for hygienic and domestic uses in the world
particularly well-known for its brand ‘Regina’
The contract enabled RWE to build this wind farm without having to rely on state subsidies
Sofidel will come a great deal closer to meeting its ambitious climate protection goals and strengthens its commitment to a sustainable future for people and planet
The new wind farm consists of four Goldwind turbines (GW 136-3.4MW) with a total installed capacity of 13.6 megawatts (MW)
The PPA with Sofidel enabled the realisation of Alcamo II by providing financial stability through contracting 26 gigawatt hours per year as the sole corporate off-taker
Sofidel purchases all the guarantees of origin this wind park produces
The long-term contract started in early-April 2021 and will run until end of 2030
Sofidel regards this long-term partnership as a responsible way to promote a multi-stakeholder approach for sustainable development
“The agreement with RWE represents a major step toward our carbon footprint reduction goals
Sofidel emissions reduction targets – -40% emissions per ton of paper by 2030 compared with 2018 base year – have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative as consistent with levels required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement,” states Riccardo Balducci
“This is also in line with what the latest climate science says is needed to prevent the worst impacts of climate change
In our commitment to a low carbon economy we regard PPAs as an useful and effective tool to source renewable power for our industrial operations and
trigger the creation of additional generation capacity
aimed at sustaining the green energy transition.”
Chief Operating Officer Wind Onshore & Photovoltaics Europe & Asia Pacific at RWE Renewables
adds: “Italy is one of our core markets
The country is seeing continued expansion of renewables and we are happy to contribute to this development with our Alcamo II wind farm and future projects
we have succeeded in building this wind farm without any state subsidies
In addition it is worldwide our first wind farm for which we used turbines from the manufacturer Goldwind
During the successful realisation of this project
our Italian team gained a lot of experience
which will help us to further broaden our supplier portfolio globally.”

This family-owned market can trace its origins to 1942
Originally opened as an Italian market featuring hard-to-find imports
Alcamo's started making subs for some of their Italian customers and "things just blew up" owner Emily Chimento told us
and co-owner Pina said "it wasn't the original intent
but it's just kept growing on its own"
They now make hundreds of subs every day for their customers
at prices that you just can't beat anywhere
"I offer these subs at these prices as a gift to my customers," Emily said
The meat here is all natural and all prime
with most of the Italian specialties coming direct from the old country
We were impressed with how you could taste each of the four meats in their "Famous Italian" sub
That sub is by far the most popular one at Alcamo's
and a good dousing of house-made sub sauce
The sub sauce at Alcamo's was one of the best we tried during our search
and it adds a great acidic punch to the sub
The standard 8 inch comes loaded with meat and cheese and is only $5
but with a little less meat and cheese for $4
We also loved the "Spicy Italian," which has pepperoni
The "Super E" was created to highlight the most popular meats at the deli
The "Original Turkey" is also very popular
and the combination of both roasted and smoked turkey takes it over the top
One special sub that is unique to Alcamo's is the "Grandma Sub," which is stuffed with German potato salad
and many of their employees have been their long term
"Our employees are family," Emily told us
The whole crew works hard to know all of their customers
What were we looking for in Michigan's Best sub
crisp veggies all combined to create something bigger and better than just the sum of the parts
The subs at many of our visits achieved this
There are seriously great subs all over Michigan
At Alcamo's Market they have great subs
They also have that certain something that you just can't name
Alcamo's Market is one of Michigan's Best
Watch the surprise and joy from Alcomo's Market staff and owner when they are named the best sub shop in Michigan

who just released their new album True Bearings in early April of this year
have announced that they have replaced their drummer Sebastian Alcamo with Matt Avenins
The following message was posted on Freeways‘ Facebook page yesterday:
It is with very mixed emotions that we announce that our drummer
Sebastian Alcamo (the Mike Ricci of Rock and Roll) has decided to hang up the sticks and retire from Freeways
We want to thank him for the years of hard work
At the same time we are very excited to formally announce our new drummer Matt Avenins
Matt has been quietly working with the band since February and despite a little few months detour thanks to the ol’ covid-19
has already proven himself to be more then capable behind the kit
Expect to hear some a couple new tracks by winter!”
Sleaze Roxx stated the following in its review of True Bearings: “Of the seven rockers on True Bearings
you will be hard pressed to find anything to push forward on with a mix of bar-made head boppers like “Battered & Bruised” and the edge of Foghat sounding “Dead Air”
driving rockers like “Sorrow (Love In Vain)”
and melodic hard rock ala “Just Survival” and the catchy-cool title track
Toss in the Triumph style groove of over six minute “Time Is No Excuse” and what you have is a tasty collection of choice guitar-driven seventies classic rock and roll for modern times
band in a box faux sounds rule the airways and webways
it’s a downright rock and roll blessing that there is Freeways
a real rock and roll band that puts out actual flesh and blood made music
If anything Canada is known for real good beer

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated to reflect that Estella Rose Fashion offers unique newborn and women's fashion and extended sizing
They do not carry preteen clothing or maternity items
HOLLAND — Visitors to downtown Holland now have a new retail option following the opening of Estella Rose Fashion this week
which offers unique newborn and women’s fashion items along with extended sizing
Crust 54 began planning its move from the space in May 2019
when owner Matt Klaus purchased the building at 45 E
The restaurant officially reopened in its new location in June 2020
More: Estella Rose Fashion will open brick-and-mortar storefront in former Crust 54
The store is run by local business owner Tricia Alcamo
and Alcamo’s future daughter-in-law Kailie Werra and was named after Walt’s first child
“It has been a year to get this opened but it was so worth the wait,” Alcamo said
It has just been the first week but it has been so great
the store has exceeded expectations and Alcamo said they are already working on getting more items in to keep the store stocked for customers visiting the store and are also expanding their offerings to meet customer needs
While the retail business is relatively new for Alcamo
she is no stranger to the business world and owns another Ottawa County business — Peppino’s Pizza — with her husband and son
While the new store now operates in downtown Holland
Estella Rose was first located in Cascade but closed in July
That provided the trio a chance to get started despite always wanting a location in a more beach-y town
“We had to literally pinch ourselves because we couldn’t believe it was really happening,” Alcamo said
“It was out of the blue that we called the city of Holland and we figured we’d try but we never imagined that we would have the opportunity to be in downtown Holland.”
News that the boutique was coming to Holland was first announced in July 2022
they were waiting for the space to be renovated
When the trio were given the green light during Tulip Time
“The building came available to move in the week of Tulip Time so that was stressful trying to get down here that week,” Alcamo said
Monday through Friday and then Saturday from 10 a.m

Alcamo's Market in Dearborn is closing on Nov

and about 20 years later relocated it to its current home in Dearborn where his daughter Emily Chimento said they've been welcomed with open arms
hope to sell the building and the business to someone who will carry out some of the traditions they've built

"I'm happy to pass this on to somebody knowing that we did what we did for the community
Chimento says her mom is ready to retire and she herself is turning 50 and cites a desire to "lighten the load" and enjoy more time with family
The market will continue to serve its house-made items like award-winning submarine sandwiches and sausages up until Nov
"We'll try to do our best to keep up with demand before we close," she said
adding that they'll likely list the business and building with a real estate agent soon

Louis – Cleanup work has resumed at a former chemical plant in central Michigan that’s become one of the country’s costliest Superfund sites
An Environmental Protection Agency official
told MLive.com that it could still take another seven years to finish cleaning up the Velsicol Chemical plant site in St
“I could see this going six or seven more years
it’s really funding-dependent for a lot of it,” Alcamo said
“It’s extremely expensive.”
were left behind at the site when the plant closed roughly 40 years ago
The chemical DDT was also found to have leaked into the Pine River after the plant closed in 1978
The first phase of the cleanup process at the site wrapped up last fall
but the second phase that’s underway covers an area that’s three times larger
Workers removed nearly 30 tons of contaminated soil during the first phase
About 100,000 tons are planned for removal from the second area by 2021
Workers will be using a process to remove chemicals from the soil by inserting metal rods into the ground
The chemicals are then siphoned off and destroyed
Alcamo said the second phase of the cleanup is estimated to cost up to $25 million
while the following phase will cost up to $20 million
an EPA-sanctioned community group that’s overseeing cleanup of the Superfund site
expressed concern about the toxic substance DBCP buried at the site
which has been used as a soil fumigant and pesticide
is believed to lead to several health risks
said the air will be monitored around the site so that they can react to any potential exposure

Thomas Pacilio was sentenced Thursday by U.S

According to court documents and statements
Pacilio and his partner started Clapboard Hill Advisors LLC

In addition to being paid a salary by McGladrey
Pacilio would receive a $350,000 payment on each anniversary of the sale for three years
he would also receive a portion of McGladrey’s annual gross revenue of up to $150,000 for the first year

The woman who stood up to centuries of tradition
by Daisy Alioto(opens in a new tab)

Last month, actress and director Asia Argento voiced her disgust with criticism from the Italian public after she came forward with rape allegations against Harvey Weinstein
“Italy is far behind the rest of the world in its view of women,” she told the press of her native country
Italy was rocked by one woman’s courageous efforts to challenge the country’s treatment of rape victims — the lessons of which are sadly still relevant
Franca Viola became the first Italian woman to take to court a cultural convention that would have her marry her rapist
her statement to her rapist from the stand became a rallying cry for other women to follow suit
for six months in 1963 before rejecting him
and when he returned and Viola still didn’t want him
he resorted to violent measures — with the assumption that the law was behind him
Melodia waited until Viola’s father was out of the house
then stormed in with 15 friends and abducted her
He held her prisoner in a remote farmhouse for over a week
such an appalling crime would be excused if the couple later wed in a "reparative marriage" — the man forgiven for his violence and the woman’s “honor” restored
but an explicit exception in the Italian criminal code
Viola took Melodia to court for kidnapping
“carnal violence,” and intimidation.
Viola speaks to police after being rescued from her captors
The trial was a sensation in Alcamo and beyond
which were later relayed by the New York Times with the most patronizing of headlines: “No Admirers Call On Sicily’s Franca.”
Despite being the central figure of these events
the public narrative overshadowed Viola's thoughts and aims on the matter
Newspaper reports described her as “gentle," “slim," and “pretty."
Crowds of men attend a public debate about the trial
Viola is shielded from the press during the trial
Melodia was ultimately found guilty and sentenced to 11 years in prison (later appealed down to ten)
with seven of his accomplices receiving four-year terms
Filippo Melodia and his accomplices await trial behind bars
seemed “destined to live as a spinster.” In a panel discussion on Italian television
local men unanimously agreed that Viola had shown great courage but that none of them
“Her defiance of tradition has since been imitated by at least four other Sicilian girls.”
the headlines could not have been more different
in a ceremony held in the early morning to avoid throngs of supporters
20-year-old Franca Viola wed her childhood friend
The Italian president sent $40 as a wedding present (over $250 today) and the country’s Transport Minister gave the newlyweds a month of free railway rides
Melodia was released from prison in 1976 and banished from Sicily for his mob ties
He was shot dead in Modena two years later
Franca still lives in Alcamo with her husband
The Italian filmmaker Marta Savina has brought Viola’s story to life in a 15-minute short film that was recently screened at the Tribeca Film Festival
Franca (2017) was a way to overwrite the punditry that had overshadowed Viola’s brave choice at the time
This is done through the physical expressiveness of lead actress Claudia Gusmano
whose sole line is the word “no.”
“We’re used to thinking of leaders and people that change history as these sort of outspoken people,” says Savina
also shows the importance of male allies in holding other men accountable for gender-based harassment and violence
“[Viola’s] family and her father specifically really supported her,” Savina explains
It will be Franca Viola’s first time seeing it.

2016 at 6:15 PM<p>Umbrella For Hope Rescue </p><p>Umbrella For Hope Rescue </p>One dog is proving just how important it is to live everyday as if it were your last
Pinto, an 8-year-old Chihuahua, was dropped off at Contra Costa Animal Services in California last July in the middle of the night
Umbrella For Hope Rescue Pinto was taken in by Umbrella Of Hope Rescue
a California rescue that often helps small dogs with health problems
"She had an enormous abscess on the right side of her forehead," Abby Alcamo
and all throughout this she behaved like a model citizen regardless of how hurt she was!"
Umbrella For Hope Rescue But shortly after Pinto was rescued a heartbreaking discovery was made
Pinto's head wound was taking longer than usual to heal
and a host of other issues led vets to do an x-ray of her head - where they discovered a rapidly growing brain tumor
Umbrella For Hope RescueFortunately, Pinto was not in any pain and still had a loving and playful demeanor - so the rescue decided that they would help her do as much as she could before she passed. That's how Pinto's bucket list was born
Umbrella For Hope Rescue Since then, Pinto hasn't wasted a single day. "We've had people sneaking her into drive-in movie theaters, and she's spent the day hanging out with the Moraga Firefighters," Alcamo said
"They even let her ride shotgun in the truck and bought her a burger (her favorite food)!"
But one of Pinto's greatest adventures so far was the day she got the opportunity to get married
Umbrella For Hope RescueIn Pinto's foster home
Rembrandt was extremely ill with an unknown disease
but that didn't stop the two from becoming inseparable
Umbrella For Hope Rescue The dogs were married surrounded by their foster family and the volunteers who loved them
The rescue likes to think that he waited until he was married before finally deciding that it was time to go
and is hoping to soon complete another wish soon: making sure that her story is heard
Umbrella For Hope Rescue While no one knows how much time she has left
she's still so full of life - and deserves to enjoy every single day that she has left to the fullest

Sicily - August 2020 - Last August 14 the experience of the Provincial Missionary Camp promoted by the Missionary Animation of Sicily and Tunisia began in Alcamo and ended on Sunday 23 August
A dozen young people between 18 and 26 years old
shared the experience of animating the children of the Maria Ausiliatrice Quarter
fraternity and organizational and spiritual preparation of the group
together with the Salesians and other volunteers
of the respective families of this particular Alcamo area
the young participants in the camp realized that there are many riches hidden in these children
